Quantitative estimations of bivariate summation‐integral–type operators

In this paper, we study the approximation properties of bivariate summation‐integral–type operators with two parameters . The present work deals within the polynomial weight space. The rate of convergence is obtained while the function belonging to the set of all continuous and bounded function defined on ([0],∞)(×[0],∞) and function belonging to the polynomial weight space with two parameters, also convergence properties, are studied. To know the asymptotic behavior of the proposed bivariate operators, we prove the Voronovskaya type theorem and show the graphical representation for the convergence of the bivariate operators, which is illustrated by graphics using Mathematica. Also with the help of Mathematica, we discuss the comparison by means of the convergence of the proposed bivariate summation‐integral–type operators and Szász‐Mirakjan‐Kantorovich operators for function of two variables with two parameters to the function. In the same direction, we compute the absolute numerical error for the bivariate operators by using Mathematica and is illustrated by tables and also the comparison takes place of the proposed bivariate operators with the bivariate Szász‐Mirakjan operators in the sense of absolute error, which is represented by table. At last, we study the simultaneous approximation for the first‐order partial derivative of the function.     

Ligational behavior of new mononucleating NOO ethyl pyruvate Schiff base towards 3d metal(II) ions: an emphasis on antiproliferative and photocleavage property

A series of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) complexes of a tridentate hydrazone were prepared and characterized by various spectro‐analytical techniques and magnetic moment studies. The complexes were found to be monomeric and non‐electrolytes. The copper complex is electrochemically active in the applied potential range. The compounds synthesized in the present study have shown promising antiproliferative activity when screened using the in vitro method against two human cancer cell lines: HeLa and HepG2. The Escherichia coli DNA‐binding properties of all the compounds were investigated with UV–visible absorption spectrophotometric titrations, viscosity measurements, DNA melting experiments and gel electrophoreses measurements. The compounds were demonstrated to act as DNA intercalators with appreciable DNA‐binding constant values. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Microwave Assisted Synthesis of Some Novel Thiopyrano[2,3-b]quinolines as a New Class of Antimicrobial Agent

A series of novel substituted thiopyrano[2,3-b]quinolines 4a–e , 5a–e , and 6a–e were prepared from substituted 3-formyl-2-mercapto quinolines 2a–e , on reaction with ethyl acetoacetate, diethyl malonate, and ethyl cyanoacetate 3a–c by microwave irradiation in the presence of piperidine. Synthesized compounds were evaluated for antimicrobial activities. Among the compounds tested, 7-chloro-2-oxo-2H-thiopyrano[2,3-b]quinoline-3-carbonitrile 6d and 7-nitro-2-oxo-2H-thiopyrano[2,3-b]quinoline-3-carbonitrile 6e were highly active against S. aureus and M. roseus.     

Synthesis of Quinoline-Based Thieno-Seleno-Phenylquinazolinones

The synthesis of quinoline-substituted phenylquinazolinones containing sulfur and selenium is described. These molecules were isolated from a series of reactions of 2-phenyl-4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one with 2-chloro, 2-thieno, and 2-selenoquinoline-3-carbaldehyde hydrazones. The structure of the isolated compounds has been elucidated on the basis of IR, ¹ H NMR, mass spectral, and elemental analysis data.     

Effect of a Nanoclay on the Mechanical,Thermal and Flame Retardant Properties of Rigid Polyurethane Foam

Water blown rigid polyurethane foams (PUF) with organoclay/organically modified nanoclay (ONC) were prepared and their properties such as density, mechanical, morphological, insulation, thermal and flame retardant properties were studied. In this investigation, the ONC content was varied from 1 to 10 parts per hundred of polyol (php) by weight. It was observed that the compressive strength of ONC filled PUF increased up to 3 php of ONC loading and then it decreased. Wide angle X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy studies indicated the exfoliated dispersion of ONC in PUF. The thermal conductivity of ONC filled PUF decreases up to 5 php and then increases. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of PUF decreases on loading of ONC. The TGA analysis shows that there is slight increase in degradation temperature with increase in ONC loading. The flame retardant properties (LOI and flame spread rate) are improved slightly on addition (3 php) of ONC filled PUF.     

Miscibility Studies of Dextran/Poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) Blend in Solution

The miscibility of dextran (Dex)/poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) in solution has been investigated in different percentages of the blend components by employing viscosity, density, refractive index and ultrasonic velocity methods at 30 and 50°C, respectively. Ultrasonic velocity and adiabatic compressibility against blend compositions were plotted and found to be linear. The interaction parameters μ and α have been obtained by using the viscosity data. The results indicated that the Dex/PVP blends are miscible in the entire composition range and it was further confirmed by ultrasonic velocity, density, refractive index studies. In addition, the results revealed that the change in temperature has no significant effect on the miscibility of Dex/PVP polymer blend.     

Synthesis of Diquinolineno[1,3,7,9]Tetraazacyclododecine-7, 15 (14H, 16H)-Dibenzene,and DNA Binding Studies of Macrocyclic Co(II), Cu(II) Complexes: As New Class of Antimicrobial Agent

The synthesis of macrocyclic ligand, diquinolineno[1,3,7,9]tetraazacyclododecine-7, 15 (14H, 16H)-dibenzene(L), is described. The metal complexes of the type [MLX₂], where (M = Co(II) (1), Cu(II) (2) and X = (Cl), have been synthesized by the reaction of ligand(L) with the corresponding metal salts, and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, ¹H-NMR and electronic spectra. The binding property of the complexes with CT-DNA was studied by absorption spectra, viscosity measurements, as well as thermal denaturation studies. The absorption spectral results indicate that the complexes (1) and (2) are binds with base pairs of DNA. The intrinsic binding constant K_b had the value 3.8 × 10⁴M ^?1 for (1 Chappell, L. L., Voss, A. D. and Morrow, J. R. 1998. Inorg. Chem., 37(16): 3989–3998.  [Google Scholar]) and 3.3 × 10⁴ M^?1 for (2), respectively, in 5 mM Tris-HCl/50 mM NaCl buffer at pH 7.2. The viscosity measurement results show the viscosity of sonicated rod-like DNA fragments increased when the complex were added to the solution of calf thymus-DNA. The synthesized ligand and its metal complexes have been screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities.
