Mixed mode fracture of a piezoelectric–piezomagnetic bi-layer structure with two un-coaxial cracks parallel to the interface and each in a layer

The purpose of the present work is to study the mixed mode fracture of a piezoelectric–piezomagnetic composite with two un-coaxial cracks parallel to the interface and each in a layer. Methods of generalized dislocation simulation, Green’s function, Cauchy singular integral equation and Lobatto–Chebyshev collocation are combined together to get the numerical results of mechanical strain energy release rate (MSERR). Three kinds of effects are revealed by parametric studies, i.e., the free-surface effect, the shielding effect and the interference effect, and they are used to interpret the characteristics of COD and MSERR curves. In addition, the effects of shear loading, magnetic loading and electric loading on MSERR are also disclosed, respectively, by varying the corresponding loading factor.     

Design and Performances of a Carbon Monoxide Sensor Using Mid-Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy Technique at 4.6 µm

Based on infrared absorption spectroscopy technique, a carbon monoxide sensor was developed using the fundamental absorption band of carbon monoxide molecule at the wavelength around 4.6 µm. The developed sensor consists of pulse-modulated wideband incandescence, open ellipsoid light-collector gas-cell, dual-channel detector, and control and signal-processing module. With the prepared standard carbon monoxide gas sample, sensing characteristics on carbon monoxide were investigated using the sensor. Experimental results reveal that the limit of detection is about 10 ppm, the relative error at the limit of detection point is less than 14%, and that is less than 7.8% within the low concentration range of 20～180 ppm. The maximum absolute errors of 50 min long-term measurement on the 0 and 14 ppm CO gas samples are about 3 and 3.17 ppm, respectively, and the standard deviations are as small as 0.18 and 1.25 ppm, respectively. Compared with the reported carbon monoxide detection systems utilizing quantum cascaded lasers and distributed feedback lasers, the proposed sensor shows potential applications in carbon monoxide detection under the circumstances of coal-mine and environmental protection, by virtue of high performance, low cost, simple optical structure, and so on.     

A Mixed Mann Iteration Process for Fixed Points of Mixed Increasing Operators in Ordered Banach Spaces

In this paper, we develop a new mixed Mann iteration process to approximate the fixed points of mixed increasing operators in ordered Banach spaces and discuss the convergence analysis of the iterative sequences generated by the iteration process. As an application, we develop a new iterative method for solving a class of nonlinear integral equations.     

Solution-processable graphenes by covalent functionalization of graphene oxide with polymeric monoamines

We develop here a simple wet chemistry to prepare covalent functionalized graphenes(FGs) through epoxide aminolysis especially under alkaline aqueous condition. Remarkably, a series of typical monoamines, such as industrial Huntsman Jeffamine~ M-2070 and M-2005 polymer with hydrophilic or hydrophobic polyetheramine chains, positively-charged 2-amino-N,N,Ntrimethylpropanaminium,negatively-charged sulfanilic acid, even oligopeptide sequence, can be effectively grafted on the platelets of graphene oxide precursor with covalent functionalization and partially reduced features. This strategy provides the researchers a facile and convenient approach to design and synthesize solution processable, biocompatible and functionalized graphenes for the potent applications in electronic inks, drug carriers and biomedicines. Expansion of the current study is actively ongoing in our laboratory.     

Evolution from Diffuse Ferroelectric to Relaxor Ferroelectric in Pb1-xBax（Fe1/2Nb1/2）O3 Solid Solutions

Dielectric and ferroelectric characteristics for Pb1-xBax（Fe1/2Nh/2）O3 （x = 0,0.05,0.1,0.15, and 0.2） ceramics are determined together with their structures. X-ray diffraction （XRD） analysis confirms the solid solutions with the cubic structure. The dielectric nature changes from diffuse ferroelectric to relaxor ferroelectric with increasing x, while the phase transition temperature Tc （or Tm） decreases monotonously. The diffuse ferroelectric phase transition is observed in the solid solutions with 0≤x ≤0.05. For Pbl-xBax（Fe1/2Nb1/2）O3 with 0.1≤ x≤0.2, relaxor ferroelectric behavior is determined, and the Vogel-Fulcher equation is used to describe the relaxor behavior. The 1/ε versus T plots reveal the diffusion dielectric characteristics in both diffuse and relaxor ferroelectrics.
