Spin dynamics in a site diluted finite spin cluster system probed by positive muons

The site diluted finite spin cluster system Rb₂CO _x Mg_1–x F₄ (x=0.15, 0.4, 0.5) has been investigated by the ⁺SR technique. Muon spin relaxation was observed in these diluted magnetic systems in a weak longitudinal field of 100 G. By reducing temperature below 100 K, the experimental data show features of slowing down phenomena of the Co electron moments in the finite spin clusters.     

Evaluation of low-molecular gelatin as a pharmaceutical additive for rapidly absorbed oral dosage formulation

The dissolution behavior of ibuprofen from a kneaded mixture with low-molecular gelatin (LM gelatin) has been studied in comparison to kneaded mixtures prepared with other additives. Their in vivo absorption behaviors were also examined. The LM gelatin markedly enhanced the dissolution rate of ibuprofen compared to that with polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000, dextran T10 or pullulan. Oral administrations of the kneaded mixture to beagle dogs showed the LM gelatin to be most effective in accelerating the absorption rate of ibuprofen among the additives used.     

Synthesis of 4-fluorinated UDP-MurNAc pentapeptide as an inhibitor of bacterial growth

4-Fluorinated UDP-MurNAc pentapeptide, 2, has been synthesized. In our previous study, UDP-MurNAc pentapeptide analogue 1 was found to be incorporated into the bacterial cell wall through biosynthesis. Compound 2 showed growth-inhibition activity against Gram-positive bacteria when it was added to growth media at 0.01 mg/mL. [structure--see text]     

Supramolecular hydrogels and organogels based on novel l-valine and l-isoleucine amphiphiles

New low-molecular-weight gelators based on l-valine and l-isoleucine gelators, which have a positively charged terminal group, can gel not only pure water and aqueous solutions containing inorganic acids and salts but also some organic solvents and oils.     

Inclusion-water-cluster in a three-dimensional superlattice of gold nanoparticles

Three-dimensional particle crystals made of dicarboxylic thiolate (MSA)-stabilized gold nanoparticles were formed at an air/water interface. FTIR spectra of this supracrystal showed that three well-resolved peaks existed from 3400 to 3550 cm-1 just falling in a region of OH stretching vibrational mode. Precise analysis showed that all these peaks originated from the water cluster included in the interstice of a particle crystal.     

Direct conversion of allylic alcohols into N-acyl-α-amino acids by catalytic amidocarbonylation by means of homogeneous binary systems

N-Acyl-α-amino acids are synthesized by the amidocarbonylation of allylic alcohols catalyzed by homogeneous binary systems which consist of cobalt carbonyl and rhodium (or iron or palladium) complexes.
