We describe a convergent synthesis of eight 1,3,5- and 1,2,4,5-substituted benzene derivatives with long rigid arms containing 4-pyridyl, 2,2'-bipyridyl, and 2,2'-bipyrimidyl termini, meant to be used as trigonal or tetragonal connectors for the construction of large molecular structures. The synthesis involved copper-free Pd-mediated coupling of terminal acetylenes to aryl halides. First, one of the termini of 1,3-diethynylbicyclo[1.1.1]pentane was coupled with a brominated aza heterocycle, and second, 3 equiv of the resulting extended arm were coupled with 1,3,5-triiodobenzene or 4 with 1,2,4,5-tetraiodobenzene. An improved large-scale synthesis for 1,3-diethynylbicyclo[1.1.1]pentane is described. The structures of two of the arms were determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Several long molecular rods with 4-pyridyl termini were obtained as byproducts, and a single-crystal X-ray structure is reported for the shortest of these.  相似文献

The adsorption, desorption, and clustering behavior of H2O on Pt111 has been investigated by specular He scattering. The data show that water adsorbed on a clean Pt111 surface undergoes a structural transition from a random distribution to clustered islands near 60 K. The initial helium scattering cross sections as a function of temperature are found to be insensitive to the incident H2O flux over a range of 0.005 monolayers (ML)/s-0.55 ML/s indicating that the clustering process is more complex than simple surface diffusion. The coarsening process of an initially random distribution of water deposited at 25 K is found to occur over a broad temperature range, 60相似文献

Nickel and palladium atoms with their closed-shell d(10) electronic configurations are encapsulated in the icosahedral clusters [Ni@Ni(10)E(2)(CO)(18)](4-)(E = Sb, Bi, Sb[rightward arrow]Ni(CO)(3), CH(3)Sn and n-C(4)H(9)Sn) and the geometrically related pentagonal antiprismatic cluster Pd@Bi(10)(4+) found in Bi(14)PdBr(16). Such endohedral d(10) atoms in pentagonal antiprismatic clusters are donors of zero skeletal electrons and interact only weakly with the atoms in the surrounding polyhedron so that they may be regarded as analogous to endohedral noble gases in fullerenes such as He@C(60). On the other hand, endohedral nickel and palladium atoms in 10- and 11-vertex flattened deltahedral bare metal clusters of group 13 metals without five-fold symmetry, such as Ni@E(10)(10-) found in Na(10)NiE(10)(E = Ga, In) and Pd@Tl(11)(7-) found in A(8)Tl(11)Pd (A = Cs, Rb, K), interact significantly with the cluster atoms, particularly those at the flattened vertices of the deltahedron. The role of endohedral d(10) atoms Ni and Pd in polyhedra with five-fold symmetry as "pseudo-noble-gases" can be related to their positions at the "composite divide" of the "Metallurgists' Periodic Table" proposed by H. E. N. Stone on the basis of alloy systematics as well as the equivalence of the five d orbitals in polyhedra with five-fold symmetry.  相似文献

A reinvestigation of the reaction between C2(CO2Me)2 and RuH(PPh3)2(η-C5H5) and some related complexes is reported. Initial cis addition is followed by conversion into the trans isomer. In the case of the bis-(PPh3) complex, isomerisation is followed by chelation of the ester CO group with concomitant displacement of one PPh3ligand. The resulting chelate complex reacts with CO or CNBut to give the (Z)-RuC(CO2Me)CH(CO2Me) complexes; the (E)-isomer of the carbonyl complex is obtained by addition of C2(CO2Me)2to RuH(CO)(PPh3)(η-C5H5). The 1Hand 13C NMR spectra are not a reliable guide to assignment of the stereochemistry of the vinyl group. Other products isolated from the initial reaction are the bis-insertion product Ru{C(CO2Me)C(CO2Me)C(CO2Me)CH(CO2Me)} -(PPh3)(η-C5H5) and the 1/2 PPh3/C2(CO2Me)2 adduct. The molecular structures of Ru{(Z)-C(CO2Me)CH(CO2Me)}(CO)(PPh3(η-C5H5) · 0.5EtOH, Ru{(E)-C(C2Me)CH(CO2Me)}(dppe)(η-C5H5) and Ru{C(CO2Me)C(CO2Me)C(CO2-Me)CH(CO2Me)}(PPh3)(η-C5H5) have been determined. The cis isomer is monoclinic, space group P21,with a 9.328(8), b 17.385(10), c 10.356(7) Å, β 101.78(3)° and Z = 2; 2107 data with I ≥ 2.5σ(I) were refined to R = 0.076 Rw = 0.085. The trans isomer is triclinic, space group P1, with a 10.404(7) b 11.221(6), c 13.230(9) Å, α 92.67(5), β 110.56(5), γ 106.21(5)° and Z = 2; 2520 data with I ≥ 2.5σ(I) were refined to R = 0.055 Rw = 0.068. The butadienyl complex is monoclinic, space group P21/a, with a 19.655(8), b 8.674(4), c 21.060(5) Å, β 116.22(3)° and Z = 4; 2724 data with I ≥ 2.5σ(I) were refined to R = 0.042, Rw = 0.047.  相似文献

The O-, S-, Se- and Te-containing Δ4,4' -2,2?,6,6'-tetramethyl-, -tetra-t-butyl- and -tetraphenyl-4-(chalcogenapyranyl)-4H-chalcogenapyrans were prepared from the corresponding chalcogenapyran-4-ones. The thia-, selena- and tellurapyran-4-ones were prepared by sodium borohydride reduction of the appropriate chalcogen and addition of the disodium chalcogenide to a 1,4-diyn-3-one. The comparative electrochemistry of all three series was examined by cyclic voltammetry. Within each scries the first oxidation (E1) became more difficult with increasing chalcogen size. The radical-cation states of the tetra-t-butyl analogues were examined by ESR. The O and S analogues gave well-defined five-line spectra, but the Se and Te analogues gave broad single lines. The g value increased with increasing size of the heteroatom. A linear correlation exists between g value and spin-orbit coupling constants λ for the chalcogens, suggesting that the electron densities on the heteroatoms are similar in each heteroatom analogue.  相似文献

The crystal and molecular structure of [2.2](2,5)furano(1,4)naphthalenophane (1) was determined by X-ray crystallography. The molecule exists in the anti-conformation and the study represents the first instance in which the structural features of a naphthalenoid ring within a cyclophane were determined. Crystals of cyclophane 1 are orthorhombic, space group Pbca, with a = 7.859(2). b = 11.482(3) and c = 28.818(8) Å. While the nonbridged portion of the naphthalenoid ring is planar, the portion which is bridged to the furanoid ring through its 1 and 4 C atoms is puckered and boat-shaped. These C atoms are positioned 14° out of the plane of the other four C atoms of this ring. The furanoid ring is essentially planar but is not parallel to the naphthalenoid ring. It is inclined 22° to the least squares plane of the bridged portion of the naphthalenoid ring. This angle of inclination staggers the atoms of the furanoid and bridged naphthalenoid ring and positions the 3 and 4 C atoms, the 2 and 5 C atoms and the 0 atom of the furanoid ring 3.4. 2.9 and 2.6 Å. respectively, from the least squares plane of the bridged portion of the naphthalenoid ring. While the internal angles around the bridging C atoms α- to the naphthalenoid ring are 109°, those α- to the furanoid ring are 113°. In addition unusually large bond angles ($?137°) at the 2 and 5 C atoms of the furanoid ring, external to the ring, are also observed. The distortions are considered with respect to the strain within the cyclophane macrocycle and are compared with other similar systems.  相似文献

Abstract— The binding of DNA to protein mediated by U V (254 nm) radiation has been investigated using binding of the complex to Millipore membrane filters as an assay technique. The reaction proceeds through an activated protein intermediate which then reacts with the DNA. The activated protein has a half-life of about 75 min at 0°C and about 18 min at 37°C. Short wavelengths are more efficient in forming the complex than wavelengths in the 250–280 nm range. N-ethyl maleimide treatment of protein before irradiation markedly inhibits the reaction.  相似文献

The overall efficiencies of photoinduced electron transfer reactions in polar solvents are usually determined by the efficiency with which separated radical ions are formed from the initially formed geminate radical-ion pairs. These separation efficiencies are determined by the competition between retum electron transfer and separation within the geminate pairs. A method is described for determining whether variations in the quantum yields for formation of separated radical ions are due to changes in the reorganization parameters for the return electron transfer reactions, or to other factors. The use of the method is illustrated in studies of the effects of varying steric bulk and molecular size of the donors, and also in studies of the effect of using a charged sensitizer.  相似文献

In its continuing quest for smaller length scales, the electronics industry plans to introduce 157 nm as the next lithographic wavelength. Accordingly, there is a pressing need to develop photoresists that are more transparent, and pellicles that are both more transparent and more durable. With the advent and popularization of time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT), we now have a practical quantum chemical method for calculating excitation energies and transition moments in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) which can greatly assist in the scouting of highly transparent materials. We have performed TD-DFT calculations for a broad variety of fluorinated molecules and we will report calculated VUV photoabsorption spectra for a large family of model fluorohexanes. These calculations, which span a range from 1-fluorohexane to CH3CF2CF2CF2CF2CH3, illustrate some of the principles one may use to design low absorption polymeric materials.  相似文献
