We introduce a new experimental approach to study the structural transitions of large numbers of nanoparticle-coated droplets as their volume is reduced. We use an emulsion system where the dispersed phase is slightly soluble in the continuous phase. By adding a fixed amount of unsaturated continuous phase, the volume of the droplets can be controllably reduced, causing them to buckle or crumple, thereby becoming nonspherical. The resultant morphologies depend both on the extent of volume reduction and the average droplet size. The buckling and crumpling behavior implies that the droplet surfaces are solid.  相似文献

In this contribution, aminocyclobutanes, as well as eight‐membered enamide rings, have been made from N‐vinyl β‐lactams. The eight‐membered products have been formed by a [3,3]‐sigmatropic rearrangement, whereas the aminocyclobutanes have been derived from a domino [3,3]‐rearrangement/6π‐electrocyclisation process. The aminocyclobutanes have been obtained in a highly diastereoselective fashion. The cyclobutane ring system tolerates fusion even if adjacent quaternary centres are present. Systems containing up to four fused rings are readily accessible. The reaction profile has been investigated by using Gaussian 03. This study suggests that two reaction pathways for aminocyclobutane formation are possible. In one pathway the [3,3]‐sigmatropic rearrangement is the rate‐limiting step and in the second pathway the electrocyclisation is rate limiting. Taken together, these reactions should facilitate the construction of fused heterocycles.  相似文献

(+)‐Pinoresinol 4,4′‐di‐O‐βD ‐glucopyranoside ((+)‐PDG) is one of the major lignans with various pharmacological activities which could be isolated from Duzhong and other plant species. In this study, a diastereomeric impurity, (?)‐pinoresinol 4,4′‐di‐O‐βD ‐glucopyranoside ((?)‐PDG), the main impurity was identified in (+)‐PDG chemical reference substance (CRS) and a reliable chromatographic method for rapid purity determination of (+)‐PDG CRS was firstly developed. The optimal chromatographic condition was found to be using ACN/1,4‐dioxane–water (2.5:6:91.5, v/v/v) as mobile phase on a Waters Acquity UPLC HSS T3 column (2.1 mm×100 mm, 1.8 μm) with column temperature of 37°C. The method was validated and applied to determine the chromatographic purity of five (+)‐PDG CRS samples. The content of (?)‐PDG in four commercial (+)‐PDG CRS was 8.47–20.30%, whereas no (?)‐PDG was detected in our in‐house prepared (+)‐PDG CRS in which purity was confirmed to be 99.80%. The above results confirmed that this method is fast and highly efficient for purity determination of the (+)‐PDG CRS.  相似文献

A nonlinear stability method is developed for laminar two-fluid shear flows which undergo changes in the interface topology. The method is based on the nonlinear parabolized stability equations (PSE) and incorporates a scalar-based interface capturing (IC) scheme in order to track complex deformations of the fluid interface. In doing so, the formulation retains the flexibility and physical insight of instability-wave based methods, while providing hydrodynamic modeling capabilities similar to direct numerical calculations: the new formulation, referred to as the IC-PSE, can capture the nonlinear physical mechanisms responsible for generating large-scale, two-fluid structures, without incurring heavy computational costs. This approach is valid for spatially developing, laminar two-fluid shear flows which are convectively unstable, and can naturally account for the growth of finite amplitude interfacial waves, along with changes to the interfacial topology. We demonstrate the accuracy of the IC-PSE against direct Navier–Stokes calculations for two-fluid mixing layers with density and viscosity stratification. The comparisons show that the IC-PSE can predict the dynamics of the instability waves and capture the formation of Kelvin–Helmholtz vortex rolls and large scale liquid structures, at an order of magnitude less computational cost than direct calculations. The role of surface tension in the IC-PSE formulation is shown to be valid for flows in which Re/We ? 1, and the method accurately predicts the formation and non-linear evolution of flow structures in this limit. This is demonstrated for spatially developing mixing layers which lead to vortex roll-up and ligaments, prior to droplet formation. The pinch-off process itself is a high surface tension phenomenon and in not considered herein. The method also accurately captures the effect of interfacial waves on the mean flow, and the topology changes during the non-linear evolution of the two-fluid structures.  相似文献

The H2 optimum parameters of a dynamic vibration absorber of non-traditional form are derived to minimize the total vibration energy or the mean square motion of a single degree-of-freedom (sdof) system under random force excitations. The reduction of the mean square motion of the primary structure using the traditional vibration absorber is compared with the proposed dynamic absorber. Under optimum tuning condition, it is shown that the proposed absorber when compared with the traditional absorber, provides a larger suppression of the mean square vibrational motion of the primary system.  相似文献

Past research has demonstrated that hologram of a real world object can be acquired by scanning it with a single two-dimensional optical scan. The technology commonly referred to as optical scanning holography (OSH), have found important applications such as in microscopy, pattern recognition, 3D holographic display, and optical remote sensing. As holograms are often employed to capture three dimensional objects with high resolution, large amount of data is required to represent them. In this paper we propose a method for compressing holograms based on Delta modulation. Specifically, we apply our proposed method for holograms captured by OSH. Experimental evaluation reveals that our proposed approach is capable of attaining a compression ratio of 64 times, and still preserves favorable fidelity on the reconstructed images. In addition, both the encoding and decoding processes of the proposed method are very low in complexity, hence enabling real-time operation.  相似文献

We report a simple triggering mechanism that greatly enhances and stabilizes supercontinuum generation by using an extremely weak cw light (~200,000 times weaker than the pump light). Such an active manipulation scheme can be enabled by a wide range of input conditions and circumvents complex techniques such as precise time delay tuning and dedicated feedback control. It thus offers a handy and versatile approach to control and optimize supercontinuum generation, expanding its range of applications, including ultrafast all-optical signal processing, spectroscopy, and imaging. The utility of the present technique for improving signal integrity in chirped pump optical parametric amplification is also demonstrated.  相似文献

The voting system of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (Legco) is sometimes unicameral and sometimes bicameral, depending on whether the bill is proposed by the Hong Kong government. Therefore, although without any representative within Legco, the Hong Kong government has certain degree of legislative power – as if there is a virtual representative of the Hong Kong government within the Legco. By introducing such a virtual representative of the Hong Kong government, we show that Legco is a three-dimensional voting system. We also calculate two power indices of the Hong Kong government through this virtual representative and consider the C-dimension and the W-dimension of Legco. Finally, some implications of this Legco model to the current constitutional reform in Hong Kong will be given.  相似文献
