We present an experimental and theoretical comparison of the weak and strong gate‐coupling regimes that arise for carbon nanotube (CNT) and graphene field‐effect transistors (FETs) in back‐gated and liquid‐gated configuration, respectively. We find that whereas the back‐gate efficiency is suppressed for a liquid‐gated CNT FET, the back gate is still effective in case of a liquid‐gated graphene FET. We calculate the gate‐induced Fermi‐level shifts and induced charge densities. In both strong and weak coupling regimes, nonlinearities occur in the gate dependence of these parameters, which can significantly influence the electronic transport. We investigate correlated electronic transport in single-walled carbon nanotubes with two intramolecular tunneling barriers. We suggest that below a characteristic temperature the long-range nature of the Coulomb interaction becomes crucial to determine the temperature dependence of the maximum G(max) of the conductance peak. Correlated sequential tunneling dominates transport yielding the power law G(max) proportional, variant T(alpha(end-end)-1), typical for tunneling between the ends of two Luttinger liquids. Our predictions are in agreement with recent measurements.  相似文献

Conventional noise filtering schemes applied to magnitude magnetic resonance (MR) images tacitly assume Gauss distributed noise. Magnitude MR data, however, are Rice distributed. Not incorporating this knowledge leads inevitably to biased results, in particular when applying such filters in regions with low signal-to-noise ratio. In this work, we show how the Rice data probability distribution can be incorporated so as to construct a noise filter that is far less biased.  相似文献

Surface-charge-governed ion transport in nanofluidic channels   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A study of ion transport in aqueous-filled silica channels as thin as 70 nm reveals a remarkable degree of conduction at low salt concentrations that departs strongly from bulk behavior: In the dilute limit, the electrical conductances of channels saturate at a value that is independent of both the salt concentration and the channel height. Our data are well described by an electrokinetic model parametrized only by the surface-charge density. Using chemical surface modifications, we further demonstrate that at low salt concentrations, ion transport in nanochannels is governed by the surface charge.  相似文献

We demonstrate the guiding of neutral atoms by the magnetic fields due to microfabricated current-carrying wires on a chip. Atoms are guided along a magnetic field minimum parallel to and above the current-carrying wires. Two guide configurations are demonstrated: one using two wires with an external magnetic field, and a second using four wires without an external field. These guide geometries can be extended to integrated atom optics circuits, including beam splitters.  相似文献
