Scattering of Laser Light from Mixed Micelles

Dynamic and static scattering of light was employed to investigate mixed micelles of two homologous anionic surfactants-sodium octyl sulfate and sodium hexadecyl sulfate, above the phase boundary temperature and critical micelle concentrations (cmc). The results indicate that the mixed micelles change from prolate to sphcrical as the molar ratio SOS/SHS increases from 1 to 8. Below 1 or above 8, the formation of micelles is due to one surfactant dissolving the other.     

End unit effect on the Tg of differentiated series of perfluoro-poly (oxymethylene-co-oxyethylene) oligomers

Twelve series of linear oligomers of four different degrees of polymerization (x_n = 8.77−41.55), having a common perfluorinated random copolymeric chain as molecular body and two equal foreign end units of one of the types listed in Table 1, have been synthesized by derivatization of base samples of one of them having a diolic---CH₂OH functionality. The glass transition temperature T_g of all the series was measured and thus examined as a function of x_n. A clear end unit effect is observed, dominantly determined in every series by chemical nature and structure of the end units, quantitatively expressed at any x_n by different positive or negative T_g deviations from the common asymptotic T_g∞ value. The results are also discussed in terms of copolymer end effect and of relation between T_g and end copolymeric composition.     

Mechanical properties of polyester polymer-concrete

The properties of a polymer-concrete composed of polyester matrix and locally available rock aggregate are investigated. The formula of the concrete is found by an experimental-calculation approach in such a way as to attain a closer packing of the aggregate particles on the one hand, and to ensure the needed processing characteristics (placeability) of the mix on the other. It is shown experimentally that the material obtained has a rather high compression strength. Under prolonged compression loads, the polymer-concrete exhibits a noticeable creep behavior with a linear relation between the creep strains and stresses. After the action of half the ultimate load over 3000 h, the total strains exceed the instantaneous ones by 2.0 to 2.2 times. The accumulation of irreversible strains is also observed; however, their contribution to the total strain is small. It is found that the stress-strain relation can be represented by the equation of linear hereditary creep theory.Institute of Polymer Mechanics, University of Latvia, Riga, LV-1006, Latvia. 环状连续强激光下光学薄膜的瞬温和热畸变

详细研究了非冷却光学薄膜元件在环形激光光束辐照下的瞬态温度分布和随后的热畸变，并且用泰曼干涉仪实际测量了连续波氧碘激光辐照各种非冷却光学元件的热畸变量并与理论计算相比较，分析结果表明理论和实验相一致。     

非晶调制多层膜Nb/Si中的互扩散研究

利用原位Ｘ射线衍射技术得到非晶调制多层膜Ｎｂ／Ｓｉ中的互扩散系数与退火温度的关系，调制周期Ｌ＝３.２ｎｍ的非晶调制多层膜是用粒子溅射方法制备的．温度范围为４２３—５２３Ｋ的有效互扩散系数通过原位测量多层膜的一级调制峰强度与退火温度之间的关系而得到．利用缺陷陷阱延迟扩散机制解释了所得到的扩散系数与退火温度的关系．建立了可以解释较小前置系数的模型 关键词：     

Convex functions, subdifferentiability and renormings

This paper through discussing subdifferentiability and convexity of convex functions shows that a Banach space admits an equivalent uniformly [locally uniformly, strictly] convex norm if and only if there exists a continuous uniformly [locally uniformly, strictly] convex function on some nonempty open convex subset of the space and presents some characterizations of super-reflexive Banach spaces. Three-dimensional atom probe study of the segregation behaviour of Ni91Pt9 alloy after sputtering

To investigate local ordering and segregation phenomenon in a Ni91Pt9-alloy after sputtering and annealing a 3D optical atom probe (OAP) has been used. The specimen tips have been prepared from polycrystalline samples. To sputter the samples a separate preparation chamber with a scannable Ar-sputter-gun is connected to the OAP vessel. When necessary, the sample can be electrically heated to induce segregation and cure the altered layer. After a heat treatment of a Ni91 at. %Pt 9 at.% specimen at 1100 K the surface of a (111)-oriented specimen is enriched in platinum by a factor of two in relation to the bulk. The phenomenon of short-range ordering has been investigated on the surface and in the subsurface volume. A 3D reconstruction of this annealed NiPt specimen shows regions with high concentration of platinum that gives an indication at short-range ordering. Uniform sputtering of the tip without a heat treatment induces a decisive depletion of Pt on the surface and the following subatomic layers. The atom-probe results of specimens in thermal equilibrium are in close agreement to further surface sensitive results obtained from Ion Scattering Spectroscopy (ISS) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES).
