Enhanced orientation of PEO polymer chains induced by nanoclays in electrospun PEO/clay composite nanofibers

Polymer fibers composed of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and nanoclay were fabricated by electrospinning. The morphology of the composite nanofibers was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM), which showed aligned nanoclays in the fibers. Polarized Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy revealed that the PEO chains in the composite fibers exhibit a higher degree of orientation than that in PEO nanofibers containing no nanoclay. It is believed that spatial confinement is present in the electrospun nanofibers, which results in the enforcement of the mutual restriction. The anisotropic hierarchical nanostructure may have potential applications in optics, mechanical materials, and biomedical materials for cell culture.     

Tissue imaging and serum lipidomic profiling for screening potential biomarkers of thyroid tumors by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry

Changes in serum lipidome and in tissue lipidome are associated with cancer. In this study, tissue mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) and serum lipid profiling by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (MALDI-FTICR MS) were performed to investigate significantly changed lipids in both tumor (malignant thyroid cancer (MTC) and benign thyroid tumor (BTT)) tissues and sera. Y-scatterplots of variable importance in the projection (VIP) values vs. fold change values indicate that change trends in the levels of ten lipids (i.e., phosphatidylcholine (PC)(34:1), PC(36:1), PC(38:6), phosphatidic acid (PA) (36:2), PA(36:3), PA(38:3), PA(38:4), PA(38:5), PA(40:5), and sphingomyelin (SM)(34:1)) in both tissues and sera from MTC patients, BTT patients, and normal individuals are significantly associated with these three types of pathophysiological status. In order to examine their diagnostic ability, 289 serum samples from 124 MTC patients, 43 BTT patients, and 122 normal controls were randomly divided into the training set and validation set. A biomarker of PC(34:1) exhibited excellent diagnostic ability to differentiate both MTC and BTT patients from normal individuals, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve value of 0.984, a sensitivity of 96.4 %, and a specificity of 92.7 %. A panel which included PA(36:3) and SM(34:1) could distinguish between MTC and BTT, with an area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.961, a sensitivity of 87.8 %, and a specificity of 92.9 %. It is worth noting that a panel consisting of PC(34:1), PA(36:3), and SM(34:1) could differentiate MTC patients from both BTT patients and normal individuals, with an AUC of 0.841, a sensitivity of 86.6 %, and a specificity of 75.5 %.

混合型离子交换液相色谱-串联质谱法检测鸡蛋中10种氨基糖苷类药物残留

该研究系统地优化了样品前处理过程及仪器分析中影响氨基糖苷残留分析准确度与灵敏度的各主要因素,建立了鸡蛋中10种氨基糖苷类药物(链霉素、双氢链霉素、潮霉素B、卡那霉素、阿米卡星、妥布霉素、安普霉素、大观霉素、新霉素、庆大霉素)残留量的混合型离子交换液相色谱-串联质谱分析方法。样品经10 mmol/L乙酸铵缓冲溶液(含0.4 mmol/L EDTA和50 g/L三氯乙酸)超声提取,调节pH至6~7后,经PRiME HLB固相萃取柱富集净化,采用SIELC Obelisc R色谱柱分离,以乙腈和1.0%(v/v)甲酸水溶液(含1 mmol/L甲酸铵)为流动相进行梯度洗脱,在正离子、多反应监测模式下经串联质谱仪测定,外标法定量。该方法在5~200 μg/L质量浓度范围内线性关系良好,相关系数(r²)均大于0.99;方法的检出限(LOD, S/N≥3)为2~5 μg/kg,定量限(LOQ, S/N≥10)为5~10 μg/kg。在空白鸡蛋中进行LOQ、20 μg/kg、100 μg/kg 3个水平的加标回收实验,方法的平均回收率(n=6)为68.1%~111.3%,相对标准偏差为1.2%~12.3%。利用该方法对市售的20批次鸡蛋样品进行测定,均未检出目标物。本方法简单、灵敏、准确,可实现鸡蛋中10种氨基糖苷类药物残留的批量检测。     

Unexpected Room‐Temperature Ferromagnetism in Nanostructured Bi2Te3

There is an urgent need for the development in the field of the magnetism of topological insulators, owing to the necessity for the realization of the quantum anomalous Hall effect. Herein, we discuss experimentally fabricated nanostructured hierarchical architectures of the topological insulator Bi₂Te₃ without the introduction of any exotic magnetic dopants, in which intriguing room‐temperature ferromagnetism was identified. First‐principles calculations demonstrated that the intrinsic point defect with respect to the antisite Te site is responsible for the creation of a magnetic moment. Such a mechanism, which is different from that of a vacancy defect, provides new insights into the origins of magnetism. Our findings may pave the way for developing future Bi₂Te₃‐based dissipationless spintronics and fault‐tolerant quantum computation.     

Influence of permutizers of subgroups on the structure of finite groups

A group G is said to satisfy the maximal permutizer condition if the permutizer of any maximal subgroup M of G in G, P_G(M), is G. In this paper, we characterize the supersolubility of finite groups by using the maximal permutizer condition. We also get some results for when both G/N and N are supersoluble, which implies that G is supersoluble. Our results unify or generalize some known results.     

A method to quantitatively estimate rainfall rate above water surface based on different spectra shapes generated by rainfall

A method combined with the nonlinear least-square regression to quantitatively estimate rainfall rate over water surface from the different spectrum shapes generated by rainfall in some frequency bands was presented.About 2000 min spectrum data generated by rainfall have been collected in an open-lake in Xiamen city.As a result,the spectrum shape in 15-30 kHz is fitted to log-linear law which allows classification of rain into three categories from the spectrum slope:no rain,drizzle(rainfall rate>10 mm/h)and heavy rain(rainfall rate>10 mm/h).Then,rainfall detection is made and rainfall rate is quantified in drizzle time with Logistic model in the frequency bands of 2-15 kHz,and the rainfall rate in heavy rainfall also quantified with log-linear regression.Finally,all measured spectrum data are used to calculate rainfall rate with the algorithm.The results show that the estimated rainfall rates are comparably coincident with the synchronously measured ones.The average error of accumulative rainfall per min is only l%-4%.     

Complemented subgroups and the structure of finite groups

Let $p$ be the smallest prime divisor of the order of a finite group $G$ . We examine the structure of $G$ under the hypothesis that $p$ -subgroups of $G$ of certain orders are complemented in $G$ . In particular, we extend some recent results.

Let P be a Sylow p-subgroup of a group G with the smallest generator number d,where p is a prime.Denote by M_d(P) = {P_1,P_(2,...,)P_d} a set of maximal subgroups of P such that φ(P) = ∩_(n=1)~dP_n.In this paper,we investigate the structure of a finite group G under the assumption that the maximal subgroups in M_d(P) are weakly s-permutably embedded in G,some interesting results are obtained which generalize some recent results.Finally,we give some further results in terms of weakly s-permutably embedded subgroups.     

Stabilization of H3 + in the high pressure crystalline structure of HnCl (n = 2–7)

The particle-swarm optimization method has been used to predict the stable high pressure structures up to 300 GPa of hydrogen-rich group 17 chlorine (H_nCl, n = 2–7) compounds. In comparison to the group 1 and 2 hydrides, the structural modification associated with increasing pressure and hydrogen concentration is much less dramatic. The polymeric HCl chains already present in the low temperature phase under ambient pressure persist in all the high pressure structures. No transfer of electrons from the chlorine atoms into the interstitial sites is found. This indicates the chemical bonding at high pressure in group 17 elements is fundamentally different from the alkali and alkaline elements. It is found that almost perfectly triangular H₃ ⁺ ions can be stabilized in the crystalline structure of H₅Cl.
