Orthopositronium lifetime in liquid He-4 at 4.2 K is found to decrease from 100 nsec to 50 nsec under pressures 1–60 atm. The radius and potential well-depth of the positronium bubble are estimated to vary from 14 Å to 7 Å and from 0.25 eV to 0.55 eV.  相似文献

Bertrand, Charon, Hudry and Lobstein studied, in their paper in 2004 [1], r-locating–dominating codes in paths Pn. They conjectured that if r≥2 is a fixed integer, then the smallest cardinality of an r-locating–dominating code in Pn, denoted by , satisfies for infinitely many values of n. We prove that this conjecture holds. In fact, we show a stronger result saying that for any r≥3 we have for all nnr when nr is large enough. In addition, we solve a conjecture on location–domination with segments of even length in the infinite path.  相似文献

For a large class of locally compact semitopological semigroups S, the Stone-Čech compactification β S is a semigroup compactification if and only if S is either discrete or countably compact. Furthermore, for this class of semigroups which are neither discrete nor countably compact, the quotient contains a linear isometric copy of . The growth of Pt nanoparticles from the metal-organic precursor [MeCpPtMe3: (methylcyclopentadienyl) trimethyl platinum] on TiO2(110) was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy. 2D-like Pt particles on the surface were formed in a self-limiting growth mode. The inner structure of the particles was resolved as unique tetramerlike bright spots. A mechanism for the self-limiting growth of Pt particles is proposed.  相似文献

We consider stationary electromagnetic fields modeled as superpositions of unpolarized and angularly uncorrelated plane waves and show that in anisotropic case the electric cross-spectral tensor is proportional to the imaginary part of the Green tensor. This is as for blackbody radiation, but here the field need not be in thermal equilibrium. We also evaluate the degree of polarization for a homogeneous but nonisotropic field for which the plane waves propagate within a cone of angles. The results are compared with the known polarization properties of blackbody radiation.  相似文献

We have characterized commercially available up-converting inorganic lanthanide phosphors for their rare earth composition and photoluminescence properties under infrared laser diode excitation. These up-converting phosphors, in contrast to proprietary materials reported earlier, are readily available to be utilized as particulate reporters in various ligand binding assays after grinding to submicron particle size. The laser power density required at 980 nm to generate anti-Stokes photoluminescence from these particulate reporters is significantly lower than required for two-photon excitation. The narrow photoluminescence emission bands at 520–550 nm and at 650–670 nm are at shorter wavelengths and thus totally discriminated from autofluorescence and scattered excitation light even without temporal resolution. Transparent solution of colloidal bead-milled up-converting phosphor nanoparticles provides intense green emission visible to the human eye under illumination by an infrared laser pointer. In this article, we show that the unique photoluminescence properties of the up-converting phosphors and the inexpensive measurement configuration, which is adequate for their sensitive detection, render the up-conversion an attractive alternative to the ultraviolet-excited time-resolved fluorescence of down-converting lanthanide compounds widely employed in biomedical research and diagnostics.  相似文献

Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) have potential to treat industrial wastewater containing organic compounds and simultaneously generate power. Organic compounds include textile dyes with various chromophore groups, which can be decolorized reductively by microorganisms under anaerobic conditions. In the present study, we examined the decolorization of Reactive Black 5 (RB5) azo dye and Reactive Blue 4 (RBL4) anthraquinone dye under open circuit potential in MFCs with graphite plate and graphite felt electrodes and a microbial consortium originally derived from bovine rumen fluid. RB5 dye was more than 90% decolorized in 120, 165, and 225 min at 50, 100, and 200 mg L?1 concentrations, respectively. RBL4 dye at 50 and 100 mg L?1 took 225 and 300 min to decolorize, while 200 mg L?1 RBL4 dye was not decolorized at all. Under closed circuit conditions, decolorization increased with decrease in external load, whereas current generation increased with external resistance. The results demonstrate that the reductive cleavage of the chromophore was more rapid with RB5 than with RBL4.  相似文献
