A note on the kernel of the\bar \partial -Neumann operator on strongly pseudo-convex domains

In this paper, we discuss the relations between a special Heisenberg coordinate system and a normalized Levi metric on strongly pseudo-convex domains in Cⁿ and see how they are related to the -Neumann operator.Work supported by MSRI, Berkeley, California.     

Compact,wide aperture X-ray preionized XeCl laser with high specific optical power

An X-ray preionized, discharge-pumped XeCl laser with a variable beam cross-section of up to 6×6 cm² is described. It uses flat electrodes and the beam width is determined by X-ray collimation. Its operation characteristics concerning reduced electric field strength (E/p) and X-ray dose are discussed in detail. The inductance of the discharge loop is minimized using a water capacitor arrangement. A very high specific optical power (90 MW/l) is achieved in an active volume of 1.2 l. The pulse energy exceeds 5 J in a 45 ns pulse (FWHM). Improved method for analyzing estrogens in water by liquid chromatography-electrospray mass spectrometry

An improved LC-electrospray ionization MS method was established for four estrogens (17beta-estradiol (E2), estriol (E3), estrone (E1), and ethynyl estradiol (EE)) in environmental water. Almost complete separation of all estrogens was achieved on a phenyl column with methanol/water as the mobile phase. Quantification was achieved in the negative ionization mode using selected ion monitoring. The instrumental detection limits were 20-30 ng/l for the four analytes. In Milli-Q spiked water, the recoveries of the four estrogens were 72-81%, which was similar to those found for river water spiked with the corresponding deuterated estrogens. The detection limits for the four estrogens in river water were 0.1-0.2 ng/l. The method was used to detect residual estrogens in the Tonghui River, which receives water from a municipal sewage treatment plant in Beijing; E1 (1.1 ng/l) and E2 (0.2 ng/l) were detected.     

V2O5-Ag2O/η-Al2O3催化剂上甲苯氧化制苯甲醛的研究

制备了一系列负载型V—Ag—Al—O催化剂并用于甲苯的气相选择氧化制苯甲醛反应，考察了催化剂组成对反应性能的影响．研究发现，V205负载量为12．5％、Ag2O负载量为7．5％并经773K活化的4号催化剂，在空速467．6h-1，温度663K时反应，得到了甲苯转化率49．58％、苯甲醛选择性29．22％的较好结果．用XRD、XPS、SEM等测试手段，对催化剂进行了结构表征．     

Synthesis of selenium-containing polyphenolic acid esters and evaluation of their effects on antioxidation and 5-lipoxygenase inhibition

Six novel selenium-containing polyphenolic acid esters were synthesized and evaluated as antioxidants and 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors. Synthesis of the title compounds involved the Mitsunobu reaction of polyphenolic acids with 2-phenylselenoethanol. Compounds and were found to be very effective antioxidants and 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors with activity comparable to or better than caffeic acid (3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid) phenethyl ester (CAPE).
