Two hypotheses can explain the declining probability of gaining employment as an unemployment spell wears on: heterogeneity of the unemployed versus duration dependence. The nonparametric tests developed in the literature for testing duration dependence would not account for the fact that an unemployment spell can terminate in other ways than employment. The nonparametric tests developed in this paper extend, under certain conditions, those tests to competing risks. We illustrate our test using US unemployment data in which we find little consistent evidence for duration dependence. © 2017 The Authors. Variable temperature (-55--100 degrees C) studies of the infrared spectra (3500-400 cm(-1)) of ethylphosphine-borane, CH3CH2PH2BH3, and ethylphosphine-borane-d5 dissolved in liquid xenon have been recorded. From these data, the enthalpy difference has been determined to be 86 +/- 8 cm(-1) (1.03 +/- 0.10 kJ/mol), with the trans conformer the more stable rotamer. Complete vibrational assignments are presented for both conformers, which are consistent with the predicted frequencies obtained from the ab initio MP2/6-31G(d) calculations. The optimized geometries, conformational stabilities, harmonic force fields, infrared intensities, Raman activities, and depolarization ratios have been obtained from RHF/6-31G(d) and/or MP2/6-31G(d) ab initio calculations. These quantities are compared to the corresponding experimental quantities when appropriate as well as with some corresponding results for some similar molecules. The r0 structural parameters have been obtained from a combination of the previously reported microwave rotational constants and ab initio predicted parameters.  相似文献

The standard enthalpy of formation, δfHo, of2 II CH has been determined at converged levels of ab initio electronic structure theory, including high order coupled cluster and full configuration interaction benchmarks. The atomic Gaussian basis sets employed include the (aug)-cc-p(C)VXZ family with X = 3, 4, 5 and 6. Extrapolations to the complete one-particle basis set and the full configuration interaction limits, where appropriate, have been performed to reduce remaining computational errors. Additional improvements in the enthalpy of formation of 2II CH were achieved by appending the valence-only treatment with core-valence correlation, relativistic effects including spin-orbit correlation, and the diagonal Born-Oppenheimer correction. The recommended values for δfHo 0 and δAf H o 298 of 2II CH are 592.48+0.47 ?0.56 kJ mol?1 and 595.93 +0.47 ?0.56 kJ mol?1, respectively.  相似文献

The image processing technique of column ratio mapping was applied to aberration-corrected high angle annular dark field (HAADF) images of short period MBE (molecular beam epitaxy) grown InAs/GaAs superlattices. This method allowed the Indium distribution to be mapped and a more detailed assessment of interfacial quality to be made. Frozen-phonon multislice simulations were also employed to provide a better understanding of the experimental column ratio values. It was established that ultra-thin InAs/GaAs layers can be grown sufficiently well by MBE. This is despite the fact that the Indium segregated over 3-4 monolayers. Furthermore, the effect of the growth temperature on the quality of the layers was also investigated. It was demonstrated that the higher growth temperature resulted in a better quality superlattice structure.  相似文献

We show that modulation of an optical field injected into a cavity containing a dilute Bose-Einstein condensate is transformed into a modulation of the population of the atomic momentum states due to pseudoresonances of the resolvent which describes the linearized evolution of the atom-cavity system. This effect is related to the way the atomic momentum states and the cavity optical field are dynamically coupled. The results presented offer new possibilities for rapid modulation of atomic momentum state populations up to 3 orders of magnitude faster than modulation of magnetic trapping potentials.  相似文献

Molecular force probes conveniently report on mechanical stress and/or strain in polymers through straightforward visual cues. Unlike conventional mechanochromic mechanophores, the mechanically gated photoswitching strategy decouples mechanochemical activation from the ultimate chromogenic response, enabling the mechanical history of a material to be recorded and read on-demand using light. Here we report a completely redesigned, highly modular mechanophore platform for mechanically gated photoswitching that offers a robust, accessible synthesis and late stage diversification through Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions to precisely tune the photophysical properties of the masked diarylethene (DAE) photoswitch. Using solution-phase ultrasonication, the reactivity of a small library of functionally diverse mechanophores is demonstrated to be exceptionally selective, producing a chromogenic response under UV irradiation only after mechanochemical activation, revealing colored DAE isomers with absorption spectra that span the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Notably, mechanically gated photoswitching is successfully translated to solid polymeric materials for the first time, demonstrating the potential of the masked diarylethene mechanophore for a variety of applications in force-responsive polymeric materials.

Electrodeposited polythiophene films can provide consistent laser desorption signal levels for over 20,000 laser shots on one position of a probe tip in an ion trap. A similar lack of signal decay was observed for multiple positions on the same film. The consistency and longevity of the ion signal resulting from laser desorption of a polythiophene film are much greater than those typically obtained from simple solution residue samples. Uniform, electrodeposited polythiophene films can provide a great reduction in the uncertainty of ion production that has previously been associated with ion trapping studies utilizing laser desorption.  相似文献

The sensitivity of all ion trap mass spectrometry (ITMS) methods is dependent on the trapping efficiency of the instrument. For ITMS instruments utilizing external ion sources, such as laser desorption, trapping efficiency is known to depend on the phase and amplitude of the radio frequency (RF) potential applied to the ring electrode at the time of ion introduction. It is remarkable that, in a considerable body of literature, no consensus exists regarding the effects of these parameters on the efficacy of trapping externally generated ions. In this paper, a summary of the literature is presented in order to highlight significant discrepancies. New laser desorption ion trap mass spectrometry (LD-ITMS) data are also presented, from which conclusions are drawn in our effort to clarify some of the confusion.
