Novel liquid crystal (LC) dendrimers have been synthesised by hydrogen bonding between an s‐triazine as the central core and three peripheral dendrons derived from bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid. Symmetric acid dendrons bearing achiral promesogenic units have been synthesised to obtain 3:1 complexes with triazine that exhibit LC properties. Asymmetric dendrons that combine the achiral promesogenic unit and an active moiety derived from coumarin or pyrene structures have been synthesised in order to obtain dendrimers with photophysical and electrochemical properties. The formation of the complexes was confirmed by IR and NMR spectroscopy data. The liquid crystalline properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, polarising optical microscopy and X‐ray diffractometry. All complexes displayed mesogenic properties, which were smectic in the case of symmetric dendrons and their complexes and nematic in the case of asymmetric dendrons and their dendrimers. A supramolecular model for the lamellar mesophase, based mainly on X‐ray diffraction studies, is proposed. The electrochemical behaviour of dendritic complexes was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The UV/Vis absorption and emission properties of the compounds and the photoconductive properties of the dendrons and dendrimers were also investigated 相似文献

A series of supermolecular liquid crystals has been synthesized by combining phosphorus dendrimers of the zero, first, and fourth generations with sulfonamide derivatives, thus generating dendromesogens bearing 6, 12, and 96 mesogenic units on their surfaces. The relevant reactions could be monitored by 1H, 19F, and 31P{1H} NMR spectroscopies. The thermal and mesomorphic properties of the products have been studied by optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X‐ray diffraction. All of the new macromolecules prepared in this work have been found to show mesomorphic properties over a wide temperature range; moreover, for all of the compounds, the columnar mesophases observed were maintained or vitrified at room temperature. On increasing the generation of these dendromesogens, mesophases appear at lower temperatures and remain stable over a wider temperature interval. In all cases, on the basis of X‐ray analysis, a cylindrical symmetry of the molecules can be proposed to promote the supramolecular columnar arrangement observed in the mesophases. In this type of model, the height of the dendrimer clearly increases with increasing dendrimer generation, whereas its cross‐ sectional area increases only slightly, probably due to compression of the highly hyperbranched structures as a consequence of their progressive steric constraints. The mesomorphic arrangement is governed by the peripheral sulfonamide units. 相似文献

Control of the self‐assembly of small molecules to generate architectures with diverse shapes and dimensions is a challenging research field. We report unprecedented results on the ability of ionic, bent dendritic molecules to aggregate in water. A range of analytical techniques (TEM, SEM, SAED, and XRD) provide evidence of the formation of rods, spheres, fibers, helical ribbons, or tubules from achiral molecules. The compact packing of the bent‐core structures, which promotes the bent‐core mesophases, also occurs in the presence of a poor solvent to provide products ranging from single objects to supramolecular gels. The subtle balance of molecule/solvent interactions and appropriate molecular designs also allows the transfer of molecular conformational chirality to morphological chirality in the overall superstructure. Functional motifs and controlled morphologies can be combined, thereby opening up new prospects for the generation of nanostructured materials through a bottom‐up strategy. 相似文献

Iron ore from the El Hobo municipality located in the Huila department in Colombia (2°35′7″N 75°13′27″E) was studied by Mössbauer spectroscopy. The material was quite inhomogeneous, consisting of light brown and dark brown concretions of up to about a centimeter in size, and a sandy fraction. Mössbauer spectra at ambient temperature and at 4.2 K were taken of the two kinds of concretions and the sandy fraction. The concretions contain iron mainly as goethite with only a few percent of hematite. The sandy fraction contains goethite and hematite in roughly equal amounts and a minor fraction of divalent iron that splits magnetically at 4.2 K and may be an impure kind of siderite. 相似文献

Anionic carbosilane dendrons decorated with sulfonate functions and one thiol moiety at the focal point have been used to synthesize water‐soluble gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) through the direct reaction of dendrons, gold precursor, and reducing agent in water, and also through a place‐exchange reaction. These nanoparticles have been characterized by NMR spectroscopy, TEM, thermogravimetric analysis, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV/Vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and zeta‐potential measurements. The interacting ability of the anionic sulfonate functions was investigated by EPR spectroscopy with copper(II) as a probe. Different structures and conformations of the AuNPs modulate the availability of sulfonate and thiol groups for complexation by copper(II). Toxicity assays of AuNPs showed that those produced through direct reaction were less toxic than those obtained by ligand exchange. Inhibition of HIV‐1 infection was higher in the case of dendronized AuNPs than in dendrons. 相似文献

Underwater sounds are very important in social communication of harp seals (Pagophilus groenlandicus) because they are the main means of long- and short-distance communication. Individual harp seals must try to avoid being masked and emit only those calls that will benefit them. Underwater vocalizations of harp seals were recorded during the breeding season. The physical characteristics associated with antimasking attributes of 16 call types were examined. Rising frequency or increasing amplitude within calls were not common. Most of the calls ended abruptly (range 145-966 dB/s), but call onset was more gradual. At high calling rates (95.1-135 calls/min) there were significantly more calls overlapping temporally than at medium (75.1-95 calls/min) or low (35-75 calls/min) calling rates, but even at the highest calling rates, 79.1% of the calls were not overlapped. When 2, 3, or 4 calls overlapped, there were significantly fewer frequency separations of less than 1/3 octave than would be expected by chance. This is important because sounds that are separated by less than 1/3 octave likely mask each other. When 2-4 calls are occurring simultaneously, only 4.5% to 14.2% are masked by virtue of being within 1/3 octave from their nearest neighbor. None of the overlappping calls was of the same type. This suggests that the seals are actively listening to each other's calls and are not randomly using the different call types. Harp seals use frequency and temporal separation in conjunction with a wide vocal repertoire to avoid masking each other. 相似文献

We have determined the dispersion of acoustic and optical surface phonon modes 2H-NbSe2 at the by inelastic x-ray scattering under grazing incidence conditions. Already, at room temperature, an anomaly is observed close to the charge density wave -vector position located at about one-third along the Gamma-M direction of the Brillouin zone. Our results indicate that the anomaly for the surface mode occurs at a lower energy than that measured in bulk sensitive geometry in the same experiment, showing evidence of a modified behavior in the uppermost layers. We demonstrate that inelastic x-ray scattering in grazing incidence conditions provides a unique tool to selectively study either surface or bulk lattice dynamics in a single experiment. 相似文献
