The degree of colour shift depending on viewing direction in the in‐plane switching (IPS) mode has been investigated. The IPS cell with pure twist deformation exhibits a stronger colour shift than that of the IPS cell with tilt as well as twist deformation, although the former has better luminance uniformity in the bright state than the latter. A novel finite volume method has been presented to solve the shallow water equations. In addition to the volume‐integrated average (VIA) for each mesh cell, the surface‐integrated average (SIA) is also treated as the model variable and is independently predicted. The numerical reconstruction is conducted based on both the VIA and the SIA. Different approaches are used to update VIA and SIA separately. The SIA is updated by a semi‐Lagrangian scheme in terms of the Riemann invariants of the shallow water equations, while the VIA is computed by a flux‐based finite volume formulation and is thus exactly conserved. Numerical oscillation can be effectively avoided through the use of a non‐oscillatory interpolation function. The numerical formulations for both SIA and VIA moments maintain exactly the balance between the fluxes and the source terms. 1D and 2D numerical formulations are validated with numerical experiments. One advantage of detecting amide H/2H exchange by mass spectrometry instead of NMR is that the more rapidly exchanging surface amides are still detectable. In this study, we present quench-flow amide H/2H exchange experiments to probe how rapidly the surfaces of two different proteins exchange. We compared the amide H/2H exchange behavior of thrombin, a globular protein, and IkappaBalpha, a nonglobular protein, to explore any differences in the determinants of amide H/2H exchange rates for each class of protein. The rates of exchange of only a few of the surface amides were as rapid as the "intrinsic" exchange rates measured for amides in unstructured peptides. Most of the surface amides exchanged at a slower rate, despite the fact that they were not seen to be hydrogen bonded to another protein group in the crystal structure. To elucidate the influence of the surface environment on amide H/2H exchange, we compared exchange data with the number of amides participating in hydrogen bonds with other protein groups and with the solvent accessible surface area. The best correlation with amide H/2H exchange was found with the total solvent accessible surface area, including side chains. In the case of the globular protein, the correlation was modest, whereas it was well correlated for the nonglobular protein. The nonglobular protein also showed a correlation between amide exchange and hydrogen bonding. These data suggest that other factors, such as complex dynamic behavior and surface burial, may alter the expected exchange rates in globular proteins more than in nonglobular proteins where all of the residues are near the surface. 相似文献

A novel accurate numerical model for shallow water equations on sphere have been developed by implementing the high order multi-moment constrained finite volume (MCV) method on the icosahedral geodesic grid. High order reconstructions are conducted cell-wisely by making use of the point values as the unknowns distributed within each triangular cell element. The time evolution equations to update the unknowns are derived from a set of constrained conditions for two types of moments, i.e. the point values on the cell boundary edges and the cell-integrated average. The numerical conservation is rigorously guaranteed. In the present model, all unknowns or computational variables are point values and no numerical quadrature is involved, which particularly benefits the computational accuracy and efficiency in handling the spherical geometry, such as coordinate transformation and curved surface.Numerical formulations of third and fourth order accuracy are presented in detail. The proposed numerical model has been validated by widely used benchmark tests and competitive results are obtained. The present numerical framework provides a promising and practical base for further development of atmospheric and oceanic general circulation models. 相似文献

Morphological effects on the medial pterygoid muscle were evaluated in 20 male gerbils (average weight, 55g) after occlusal alterations induced by extraction of left side molar teeth. Controls were only submitted to surgical stress. Sixty days after surgery, the groups were divided into two subgroups for the following studies: (1) observation of macroscopic morphology and vessels distribution (n=10); (2) light microscopy histological analysis (n=10). Group results were statistically compared using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests, with a significant value of p<0.05. Statistical differences in biometric data were found between the left and right sides of the experimental group (p=0.043), and between the left side of the control group when compared to the same side in the experimental group (p=0.044). Vessels supplied by bundles of the external carotid artery in the medial pterygoid muscle did not show distribution differences in group comparisons. Histological alterations were found in the ipsilateral side of the experimental group, with a central localization of the nucleus and degenerative aspect of the fibers, usually near to internal aponeurosis. Fiber diameters seemed reduced and the neuromuscular spindles were localized near internal aponeurosis and had a modified appearance. It is concluded that the medial pterygoid muscle in the gerbil is sensitive to alterations of the masticatory movements. 相似文献
