Exploring the effect of radiation crosslinking on the physico‐mechanical,dynamic mechanical and dielectric properties of EOC–PDMS blends for cable insulation applications 下载免费PDF全文
This work focuses on the effect of electron beam irradiation on the physico‐mechanical, dynamic mechanical and dielectric properties of blends based on ethylene octene copolymer (EOC) and poly dimethyl siloxane (PDMS) rubber. It is found that electron beam irradiation caused considerable improvement in the physico‐mechanical properties; the tensile strength was enhanced by nearly 35% for 70:30 EOC:PDMS blend. Phase morphology of the blends analyzed before irradiation by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) exhibited droplet/matrix morphology with sizes of the PDMS rubber domain varying from 0.55 µm to 0.47 µm as the amount of PDMS rubber decreased from 30 wt% to 10 wt%. This reduction in the PDMS rubber domain has been correlated with the physico‐mechanical properties of the blends. Further, the dynamic mechanical properties and creep behavior of these EOC:PDMS blends before and after irradiation has been studied. It is inferred that the 70:30 blend after radiation crosslinking shows a 17% decrease in the creep compliance, i.e. higher creep resistance compared to neat blends. All the radiation crosslinked blends exhibited lower dielectric constant, lower dielectric loss and higher electrical resistivity as compared to the virgin blends which makes it suitable for cable insulating application. Two symmetric tetrapodal ligands L1–2 and one asymmetric tetrapodal ligand L3 based on 4,5‐diazafluoren have been synthesized and characterized. Ligands L1–2 formed by the condensation of pentaerythrityl tetratosylate with 4,5‐diazafluoren‐9‐oxime and 9‐(4‐hydroxy)phenylimino‐4,5‐diazafluorene, respectively. L3 was prepared by two steps, 9‐(4‐hydroxy)phenylimino‐4,5‐diazafluorene reacted with pentaerythrityl tetratosylate affording 1,1′,1"‐tris[(4,5‐diazafluoren‐9‐ylimino)phenoxymethyl]‐1"′‐(p‐tosyloxymethyl)‐methane, which reacted with 4,5‐diazafluoren‐9‐oxime affording the asymmetric ligand L3. Three tetranuclear RuII complexes [(bpy)8L1–3Ru4](PF6)8 (bpy = bipyridine) were obtained by the reaction of Ru(bpy)2Cl2 · 2H2O with ligands L1–3. Spectroscopic studies of these complexes exhibit metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer absorptions at 440–445 nm and emissions at 575–579 nm. The electrochemical behaviors of these complexes are consistent with one RuII‐based oxidation couple and three ligand‐centered reduction couples. 相似文献

Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) based on new generation ultrahigh molecular weight styrene‐ethylene‐butylene‐styrene (SEBS) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) are developed and characterized especially for automotive applications. Influence of maleic anhydride grafted styrene‐ethylene‐butylene‐styrene (SEBS‐g‐MA) and maleic anhydride grafted ethylene propylene rubber (EPM‐g‐MA) as compatibilizers has been explored and compared on the blends of SEBS/TPU (60:40). The amount of compatibilizers was varied from 0 to 10 phr. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) studies revealed the dramatic changes from a nonuniform to finer and uniform dispersed phase morphology. This was reflected in various mechanical properties. SEBS‐g‐MA modified blends showed higher tensile strength. EPM‐g‐MA modified blends also displayed considerable improvement. Elongation at break (EB) was doubled for the entire compatibilized blends. Fourier‐transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) confirmed the chemical changes in the blends brought about by the interactions between blend components and compatibilizers. Both SEBS‐g‐MA and EPM‐g‐MA had more or less similar effects in dynamic mechanical properties of the blends. Additionally, melt rheological studies have also been pursued through a rubber process analyzer (RPA) to get a better insight. 相似文献

We have shown solvent- and substrate-dependent chiral inversion of a few glycoconjugate supramolecules. (Z)-F-Gluco, in which d -glucosamine has been attached chemically to Cbz-protected l -phenylalanine at the C terminus, forms a self-healing hydrogel through intertwining of the nanofibers wherein the gelators undergo lamellar packing in the β-sheet secondary structures with a single chiral handedness. Dihybrid (Z)-F-gluco nanocomposite gel was prepared by in-situ formation of silver nanoparticles AgNPs in the gel; this enhances the mechanical properties of the composite gel through physical crosslinking without altering the packing pattern. In contrast, (Z)-L-gluco bearing an l -leucine moiety does not form a hydrogel but an organogel. Interestingly, the chiral handedness of the aggregates of (Z)-L-gluco can be reversed by choosing suitable solvents. In addition to self-healing behavior, (Z)-L-gluco gel revealed shape persistency. Further, (Z)-F-gluco hydrogel is benign, nontoxic, non-immunogenic, and non-allergenic in animal cells. AgNP-loaded (Z)-F-gluco hydrogel showed antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. 相似文献
