Large Deviations for the Fermion Point Process Associated with the Exponential Kernel

For the fermion point process on the whole complex plane associated with the exponential kernel , we show the central limit theorem for the random variable ξ(D _r , the number of points inside the ball D _r of radius r, as r → ∞ and we establish the large deviation principle for the random variables {r ⁻²ξ (D _r ), r > 0}.     

Synthesis of a proposed biosynthetic intermediate of a marine cyclic ether brevisamide for study on biosynthesis of marine ladder-frame polyethers

A monocyclic ether alkaloid, brevisamide (1) was isolated from the dinoflagellate Karenia brevis that produces a variety of ladder-frame polyethers. Its proposed biosynthetic intermediate (2) comprising a linear backbone with an E-olefin functionality was synthesized for biosynthetic studies on the marine ladder-frame polyethers.     

Regioselective glycosylation of fully unprotected methyl hexopyranosides by means of transient masking of hydroxy groups with arylboronic acids

Facile, one-pot synthesis was developed for several β(1→2)-, β(1→3)- or β(1→4)-linked disaccharides from fully unprotected methyl hexopyranosides according to the molecular recognition by arylboronic acids. The methodology was successfully applied to facile, short step assembly of the trisaccharide fragment of type II arabinogalactan.     

Surface-profile measurement by means of a polarization Sagnac interferometer with parallel optical feedback

We describe a novel feedback interferometer for real-time, unambiguous measurement of surface profiles that consists of a polarization Sagnac interferometer and an optically addressed phase-only spatial light modulator. In this system the output intensity from the Sagnac interferometer is optically fed back to the phase modulator placed in one arm of the interferometer, which produces a sawtooth fringe intensity profile (instead of the conventional cosinusoidal one) that is directly and unambiguously related to the surface profile. Preliminary experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of applying this system to surface-profile measurement.     

A Factorization of Determinant Related to Some Random Matrices

We consider the expectation of the determinant det(–X)^–1for Im >0 associated with some random N×Nmatrices and factorize it into NStieltjes transforms of probability measures. Moreover, using this factorization, we investigate the limiting behavior of the logarithm of the quantity as N.

用蚕丝、粘胶纤维素、聚乙烯醇纤维在铜氨溶液中的多相配位取代反应制备了铜（Ⅱ）络合纤维．用电子自旋共振（ＥＳＲ）波谱等研究了铜（Ⅱ）络合纤维的配位结构．对金黄色葡萄球菌的抗菌实验表明：铜（Ⅱ）络合纤维的配位结构越不稳定抗菌性越强，但耐洗性将会下降．在此基础上设计了配位结构稳定性适中的柠檬酸修饰纤维素铜（Ⅱ）络合纤维     

Comprehensive analysis system using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry for the biosynthetic study of peptides produced by cyanobacteria

Microcystins are hepatotoxic heptapeptides and general tumor promoters produced by several species of the genera Microcystis, Anabaena, Oscillatoria and Nostoc. They are non-ribosomally synthesized via a mixed polyketide synthase/non-ribosomal peptide synthetase system called microcystin synthetase. We have carried out the detection, isolation and structural determination of non-toxic peptides produced together with microcystins by toxic cyanobacteria, which are classified into several groups on the basis of their structures and some of these non-toxic peptides are also non-ribosomally synthesized as well as microcystins. In the present study, we tried to correlate the secondary metabolic peptides produced by the hepatotoxic cyanobacteria with the corresponding peptide synthetase genes. An analytical method using LC-electroscopy ionization MS and photodiode array detection was developed for the exhaustive screening of cyanobacterial peptides in Japanese strains and it was successfully applied to the peptide fractions extracted from these strains. The established method was advantageous over conventional ones using the usual HPLC and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight MS, because more structural information could be obtained and it is easier to distinguish microcystins from other peptides using this method. Small amounts of other peptides could also be detected by this method. The established method will contribute to the investigation of the relationship between genes encoding the peptide synthetase and secondary metabolic peptides.
