Highly efficient and magnetically separable nano-CuFe_2O_4 catalyzed S-arylation of thiourea by aryl/heteroaryl halides

The non-toxic and magnetically separable nano-CuFe_2O_4 catalyzed synthesis of symmetrical aryl sulfides by the reaction of thiourea with a wide variety of aryl halides,including aryl chlorides has been reported.Excellent yields of products have been obtained under ligand-free conditions and without the use of any expensive catalyst,such as palladium.     

On exact Kerr-Schild type vacuum solutions to Salam's two-tensor theory of gravity

A Kerr-Schild type ansatz for thef andg tensor fields leads to a tractable form of the field equations of Salam's two-tensor theory of gravity in vacuo. While the general solution contains the Schwarzschild and Kerr metrics in the pure Einstein vacuum case, we can show in thef-g case that all non-trivial (fg) solutions are restricted to have the form of plane-fronted waves.Supported by Fonds zur Förd. d. wiss. Nitric oxide delivery by core/shell superparamagnetic nanoparticle vehicles with enhanced biocompatibility

We report the synthesis of Fe(3)O(4)/silica core/shell nanoparticles and their functionalization with S-nitrosothiols. These nanoparticles are of immense interest because of their nitric oxide (NO) release capabilities in human alveolar epithelial cells. Moreover, they act as large storage reservoirs of NO that can be targeted magnetically to the specific site with a sustainable release of NO for up to 50 h. Such nanoparticles provide an enhancement of the biocompatibility with released NO while allowing intracellular accumulation ascribed to their small size.

Cyclometalated rhodium(III) complex with phen-dione ligand

The novel cyclometalated Rh(III) complex, [Rh(phpy-κ²N,C^2′)₂(phen-dione)]PF₆, where phpy-κ²N,C^2′ is pyridine-2-yl-2-phenyl and phen-dione is 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, ¹H NMR, and electronic absorption spectroscopies, cyclic voltammetry, and X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure of [Rh(phpy-κ²N,C^2′)₂(phen-dione)]PF₆·CH₃CN shows that the coordination geometry around the Rh(III) is a distorted octahedron, with bite angles of 76.13°-81.09° for all three bidentate ligands.     

Manganese Oxide Nanoparticles/Reduced Graphene Oxide as Novel Electrochemical Platform for Immobilization of FAD and its Application as Highly Sensitive Persulfate Sensor

In this study, manganese oxide nanoparticles/reduced graphene oxide(MnOxNPs/rGO) was used as support for strong immobilization of flavin adenine dinucleotide(FAD). A thin film of rGO cast on the electrode surface, followed by performing electrodeposition of MnOxNPs at applied constant potential of +1.4 V vs. Ag/AgCl for 200 s. Finally, FAD was electrodeposited onto the rGO/MnOxNPs film by potential cycling between 1.0 to ?1.0 V in solution containing 1 mg ml^?1 FAD. Electrochemical properties and catalytic activity of GCE/rGO‐MnOxNPs/FAD toward persulfate (S₂O₈^2?) reduction was investigated. Under optimized condition, the concentration calibration range, detection limit, and sensitivity were 0.1 μM–2 mM, 90 nM and 125.8 nA/μM, respectively, using hydrodynamic amperometry technique.
