In this paper, we consider the solution of a large linear system of equations, which is obtained from discretizing the Euler–Lagrange equations associated with the image deblurring problem. The coefficient matrix of this system is of the generalized saddle point form with high condition number. One of the blocks of this matrix has the block Toeplitz with Toeplitz block structure. This system can be efficiently solved using the minimal residual iteration method with preconditioners based on the fast Fourier transform. Butanol, a promising biofuel, can be produced by ABE (acetone, butanol and ethanol) fermentation using e.g. Clostridium acetobutylicum. However, the butanol concentration in the resulting broth is limited to only ca. 20 g/L due to the toxicity for the microorganisms. This low product concentration demands an efficient recovery process for successful commercialization of this process. In this study, a structured adsorbent in the form of steel monolith coated with a silicalite-1 film was prepared using the in situ growth method. The adsorbent was carefully characterized by SEM and XRD. The performance of the adsorbent was evaluated by performing breakthrough experiments at room temperature using model ABE fermentation broths and the performance was compared with that of traditional adsorbents in the form of beads. The structured silicalite-1 adsorbent showed less saturation loading time as compared to commercial binder free silicalite-1 beads, reflecting the different dimensions of the columns used, set by experimental constraints. Studies of the desorption process showed that by operating at appropriate conditions, butanol with high concentration i.e. up to 95.2 wt% for butanol–water model system and 88.5 wt% for ABE fermentation broth can be obtained using the structured silicalite-1 adsorbent. Commercial silicalite-1 beads also showed good selectivity but the concentration of butanol in the desorbed product was limited to 70 % for the butanol–water model system and 69 % for ABE fermentation broth, probably as a result of entrained liquid between the beads.  相似文献

Peptides and proteins have become very promising drug candidates in recent decades due to their unique properties. However, the application of these drugs has been limited by their high enzymatic susceptibility, low membrane permeability and poor bioavailability when administered orally. Considerable efforts have been made to design and develop drug delivery systems that could transport peptides and proteins to targeted area. Although it is of great importance to determine the composition after loading a drug to the carrier, the ability to do so is significantly limited by current analytical methods. In this letter, five important proteins, α1-antitrypsin, hemoglobin human, human serum albumin, human transferrin and r-globulin were chemically conjugated to two model drug carriers, namely carbon dots and polymer O-(2-carboxyethyl) polyethylene glycol. A simple yet convenient method based on circular dichroism spectroscopy was developed to determine the compositions of the various protein-carrier conjugates.  相似文献

An efficient method was developed for the synthesis of highly substituted naphthalenes through rhodium‐catalyzed oxidative benzannulation of N‐pivaloylanilines with internal alkynes. This work developed novel jute-yarn, non-crimp, unidirectional (UD) preforms and their composites, with three different types of warp jute yarns of varying linear densities and twists in the dry UD preforms, in order to present a possible solution to the detrimental effects of higher yarn twists and crimp at the warp–weft yarn interlacements of traditional, woven, preform-based composites on their mechanical properties. In the developed UD preforms, warp jute yarns were placed in parallel by using a wooden picture-frame pin board, with the minimal number of glass weft yarns to avoid crimp at the warp–weft yarns interlacements, which can significantly enhance the load-bearing ability of UD composites compared to traditional, woven, preform composites. It was found that an optimal combination of jute warp yarn linear densities and twists in the UD preforms is important to achieve the best possible mechanical properties of newly developed UD composites, because it encourages a proper polymer-matrix impregnation on jute fibres, leading to excellent fibre–matrix interface bonding. Composites made from the 25 lb/spindle jute warp yarn linear density (UD25) exhibited higher tensile and flexural properties than other UD composites (UD20, UD30). All the UD composites showed a much better performance compared to the traditional woven preform composites (W20), which were obviously related to the higher crimp and yarn interlacements, less load-carrying capacity, and poor fiber–matrix interfaces of W20 composites. UD25 composites exhibited a significant enhancement in tensile modulus by ~232% and strength by ~146%; flexural modulus by 138.5% and strength by 145% compared to W20 composites. This reveals that newly developed, non-crimp, UD preform composites can effectively replace the traditional woven composites in lightweight, load-bearing, complex-shaped composite applications, and hence, this warrants further investigations of the developed composites, especially on long-term and dynamic-loading mechanical characterizations.  相似文献

The strategic idea in this work was to increase pH values by employing natural alkali sources (i.e., HCO3 and CO32−) from four tested agro-ashes as an alternative to chemicals (i.e., lime or soda ash). The considerable proportion of carbonates and bicarbonates in the investigated ash products had remarkable features, making them viable resources. All ash materials showed a significant ability for Ca ion elimination at high initial Ca ion concentrations. A slight quantity of ash (10 g/L) was sufficient for usage on very hard water contents up to 3000 ppm. Finally, the tested agro-ash was free of cost. Furthermore, unlike other conventional precipitants, such as NaOH, Ca(OH)2, NaHCO3, Na2CO3, and CaO, they are cost effective and ecologically sustainable. There is no need to employ any additional chemicals or modify the agro-ash materials throughout the treatment process. The benefits of the manufactured ash were assessed using a SWOT analysis.  相似文献

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) and Myrrh (Commiphora Myrrha) essential oils (EOs) stand out for their benefits in terms of health and functionality. Buffalo set yogurt enriched with different concentrations of EOs (0.3, 0.6, and 0.9%) were investigated. The effects of addition on sensory, syneresis, antibacterial activity, and bioactive properties (total phenol content and antioxidant activity) of yogurt were studied. The most acceptable organoleptic properties of treated yogurt were those samples treated with Eucalyptus oil. The levels of syneresis were decreased by increasing the concentration of EOs. Moreover, the antioxidant activity, antibacterial activity, and total phenolic content were enhanced by increasing the concentration of EOs. Yogurt with 0.9% Eucalyptus oil showed the highest antioxidant activity and total phenolic content. The same concentration of Eucalyptus oil showed the highest antibacterial activity against S. typhimurium (the inhibition zone was 20.63 mm) then E. coli (the inhibition zone was 19.43 mm). On the other hand, the highest antibacterial effect against L. monocytogene was for Myrrh oil-enriched yogurt by 0.9% and the inhibition zone was 19.21 mm. The obtained results showed that Eucalyptus and Myrrh oils can be applied to yogurt to improve its beneficial properties in terms of physical characteristics and for human health due to their antioxidant activity and phenolic materials.  相似文献

O K‐edge and Co L‐edge near‐edge X‐ray absorption fine structure has been used to examine the cathode of an intact solid‐state lithium ion battery. The novel technique allowed for the simultaneous acquisition of partial electron yield and fluorescence yield data during the first charge cycle of a LiCoO2‐based battery below the intercalation voltage. The chemical environments of oxygen and cobalt at the surface are shown to differ chemically from those in the bulk. The present design enables a wide variety of in situ spectroscopies, microscopies and scattering techniques.  相似文献
