Decisive Influence of Phosphorus Ligands on O2 Oxidations of Alkenes in the Presence of the Iron Nitrato/Iron Nitrosyl Couple

Abstract

Fe(NO)₂XL and Fe(NO)X₂L nitrosyl iron complexes, X = Cl, I, and L = HMPA, dppe, PPh₃, activate molecular O₂ to yield nitrato complexes. The phosphorous ligand is decisive for the oxidative power of these nitrates: with HMPA or dppe, oxygen transfer occurs only to phosphines. On going from HMPA to PPh3 the single nitrato complex obtained, Fe(NO)₂X(OPPh₃)₂ selectively epoxidizes cyclohexene, and this is the first example of oxygen transfer from a nitrato ligand to an olefin.     

Skin Constituents as Cosmetic Ingredients. Part II: A Study of Bio‐Mimetic Monoglycerides Behavior at the Squalene‐Water Interface by the “Pendant Drop” Method in a Dynamic Mode

This work aims at presenting the viscoelastic behavior of bio‐mimetic monoglycerides used as emulsifier in a mixture made of two non‐miscible liquids, squalene and water. The measurement of the interfacial tension, carried out by the “pendant drop” method in “dynamic” mode, made it possible to characterize these amphiphilic molecules according to the value of their elastic modulus, ?, as well as their relaxation time, τ_R.

The analysis of these parameters, as well as those developed in the previous publication [L. Blasco et al. (2006) Skin constituents as cosmetic ingredients. Part I: A Study of bio‐mimetic monoglyceride behavior at the squalene‐water interface by the “pendant drop” method in a static mode. J. Dispers. Sci. Technol., 27(6).] shows that the hydrocarbon chain structure, such as its length, the presence of one or more unsaturations, hydroxyl function, affects the behavior of surfactant molecules at the squalene/water interface.     

Synthesis of novel 9-aryl and heteroarylpurine derivatives via copper mediated coupling reaction

A series of 9-(hetero)arylpurine derivatives has been prepared through N-arylation of 6-chloropurine with boronic acids in the presence of copper(II) acetate. Screening reaction conditions in terms of bases and solvents led to the successful coupling of a series of sterically demanding (hetero)arylboronic acids, never described so far. The coupling products were next readily converted into the target adenine derivatives. The described procedure provides easy access to original fragments for screening applications. Moreover these 9-aryl-6-chloropurine derivatives might be useful as intermediates for the preparation of purine derivatives with potential biological properties.     

Novel C1-symmetric dibenzophosphole ligands: application in hydroformylation reactions

A new family of non-symmetrical disubstituted dibenzophospholes possessing different steric and electronic effects have been synthesized and characterized. Their preliminary evaluation in rhodium-catalyzed hydroformylation reactions is presented.     

Predicting New Ugi–Smiles Couplings: A Combined Experimental and Theoretical Study

Following our previous mechanistic studies of multicomponent Ugi‐type reactions, theoretical calculations have been performed to predict the efficiency of new substrates in Ugi–Smiles couplings. First, as predicted, 2,4,6‐trichlorophenol experimentally gave the corresponding aryl‐imidate. Theoretical predictions of nitrosophenols as good acidic partners were then successfully confirmed by experiments. In the latter case, the reaction offers a new access to benzimidazoles.
