The unoccupied electronic structures of 5 nm thick high permittivity (k) oxides (HfO2, ZrO2, and Al2O3) and SiO2 films on Ge substrates were examined using O K‐edge X‐ray absorption spectroscopy. Comparative studies with those on Si substrates showed contrasts in the conduction bands, which should be due to the formation of interface states. In the Al2O3 and SiO2 films, GeO2 layers are formed at the interface and they suppress in part the formation of detrimental germanate phases. In contrast, in the HfO2 and ZrO2 films, no signature of the Ge‐oxide phase is observed but some germanate phases are expected to prevail, suggesting a degradation of the gate oxide characteristics. Gadolinium has a higher atomic mass (64) than iodine (53). The K-edge absorption energy of gadolinium is 50.2 keV, which is in the absorbed wavelength range of the X-rays used by a CT scanner, suggesting that it has a high X-ray absorption ability. This study examined the effects of a gadolinium-based MRI contrast medium on the quality (mAs) and the quality (kVp) of radiation during a X-ray scan. A contrast medium phantom was manufactured after diluting the contrast medium to various concentrations. A CT scanner (Siemens, Somatom Senation 64, Germany) was used to obtain images by changing the quality of radiation from 80 kVp to 100, 120, and 140 kVp. At a constant quality of radiation of 120 kVp, the mAs was changed from 100 mAs to 200 and 300 mAs and images were obtained under each condition. The Hounsfield units (HUs) in a test tube were measured for analysis and comparison. The contrast enhancement by the contrast medium for CT scanning was 100% at a tube voltage of 80 kVp. The contrast enhancements at 100 kVp, 120 kVp, and 140 kVp were 93.8%, 87.7%, and 69.5%, respectively. In addition, although the quantity increased a fixed tube voltage, the HU of the test tube remained relatively constant, indicating that the absorption of the contrast medium had little association with the quantity of X-rays but had some correlation with the quality of radiation. A tube voltage of 80 kVp or lower is recommended when a MRI contrast medium is used CT scanning. When MRI scanning and X-ray scanning are conducted together, X-ray scanning should be performed first or after sufficient gadolinium contrast medium has been excreted.

The selective catalytic reduction rate of NO with N‐containing reducing agents can be enhanced considerably by converting a part of NO into NO2. The enhanced reaction rate is more pronounced at lower temperatures by using an equimolar mixture of NO and NO2. The kinetics of NO oxidation over Pt‐WO3/TiO2 catalyst has been determined in a fixed‐bed reactor with different concentrations of oxygen, nitric oxide, and nitrogen dioxide in the presence of 8% water. It has been found that the reaction is second order with respect to nitric oxide, first order for oxygen with a third‐order rate constant. Also, it is found that there is no effect on the reaction order with an addition of NO2, CO, or SO2. It follows the same second order but the reaction rate is found to be changed. It is observed that in the case of NO2 and SO2, the reaction rate tends to decrease, but it increases with the addition of CO into the feed. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of 1, 3, and 5% Bi-doped vanadium phosphate catalyst catalysts were prepared via sesquihydrate route using direct ultrasound method and were denoted as VPSB1, VPSB3, and VPSB5, respectively. These catalysts were synthesized solely using a direct ultrasound technique and calcined in a n-butane/air mixture. This study showed that catalyst synthesis time can be drastically reduced to only 2 hr compared to conventional 32–48 hr. All Bi-doped catalysts exhibited a well-crystallized (VO)2P2O7 phase. In addition, two V5+ phases, that is, β-VOPO4 and αII-VOPO4, were observed leading to an increase in the average oxidation state of vanadium. All catalysts showed V2p3/2 at approx. 517 eV, giving the vanadium oxidation state at approx. 4.3–4.6. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy micrographs showed the secondary structure consisting of thin and small plate-like crystal clusters due to the cavitation effect of ultrasound waves. VPSB5 showed the highest amount of oxygen species removed associated with the V5+ and V4+ species in temperature-programmed reduction in H2 analyses. TheX-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) measurement showed the occurrence of vanadium oxide reductions in hydrogen gas flow, indicating the presence of V4+ and V5+ species. Higher average valence states of V5+, indicating more V5+ phases, were present. The addition of bismuth has increased the activity and selectivity to maleic anhydride.  相似文献

The electron temperature and plasma density at the lateral distance of 125 /spl mu/m from the center of sustaining electrode gap have been investigated by a Langmuir probe along with the high-speed discharge image in coplanar alternating current plasma display panels. The plasma density at the lateral distance of 125 /spl mu/m from the center of sustaining electrode gap is shown to be maximum value of 3.7/spl times/10/sup 11/ cm/sup -3/, whereas the electron temperature is measured to be decreased from 1.8 to 0.8 eV as the gas pressure increases from 150 to 400 torr in this experiment. It is noted that the electron temperatures measured by the Langmuir probe and high-speed image camera are in good agreement with each other within 5% error limit.  相似文献

High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) protein, a potential therapeutic target, binds bent DNAs structure-specifically. Here we report on a crucial structural feature of the bent DNA required for strong binding to HMGB1. NMR structures of two bent DNA oligomers, only one of which binds strongly to HMGB1, revealed that the presence of a pocket structure on the minor groove is crucial for strong binding through penetration of a phenylalanine residue.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the dependence of Ni/Ag/diffusion barrier (D.B)/Au p-ohmic contact on PtD.B and TiD.B for GaN based flip-chip light emitting diodes (FC LEDs). It is shown that D.B metals have strongly influenced on the reflectance and contact resistivity of contacts. We present these results are caused by the variation of the morphology and atomic distribution due to D.Bs. The roles of PtD.B and TiD.B on Ni/Ag/D.B/Au p-GaN ohmic contacts are analyzed using the confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) measurement and the secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) profiles in details.  相似文献
