FT-IR Spectroscopic Investigation of Hofmann Td-Type Complexes of 2-, and 3-Chloropyridine

Hofmann-type modified clathrate hosts containing 2- or 3-chloropyridine molecules attached to metal (II) tetracyanocadmate frame, with a given formula: M(Clpy)₂Cd(CN)₄ where M = Mn, Ni or Cd; Clpy = 2- or 3-chloropyridine, have been synthesised for the first time. Their FT-IR spectra are reported in the 400–4000 cm^-1 region. All the vibrational modes of coordinated Clpy are characterised. The spectral features of the compounds studied are found to be similar to each other indicating that they have analogous structures. The coordination effect on the Clpy modes is analyzed.     

Recording of dynamic holograms by nanosecond and picosecond laser pulses in solid-state fullerene-containing matrices

The results of a complex investigation of the recording of dynamic holograms by pulsed radiation with a duration of 20 ns and 300 ps in fullerene-containing media based on porous glasses and polymethyl methacrylate matrices are reported. Spectral analysis of these media in the range 300–700 nm was performed. The efficiency of hologram recording was found to relate with the occurrence of a band at 330 nm in the absorption spectrum of a medium. It is shown that dynamic holograms can be recorded in the fullerene-containing media by nanosecond and picosecond pulses. In the latter case, holograms arise mainly due to a change in the electronic polarizability of fullerene molecules, which is almost inertialess. The results obtained can be used in the development of ultrafast switching devices based on dynamic holograms.     

Structure and electrical and mechanical properties of (Pd87.3W12.7)1−xNix

The effect of composition and temperature on the properties of the alloy PdV-20 doped with nickel was investigated. It was established that the microhardness, electroresistivity, and the normal elasticity modulus depend nonmonotonically on the content of nickel, and also that these quantities are affected significantly by the past thermal history of the samples. The results' are discussed, taking into account the nature of their intrinsic short-range order structure.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh. Choosing an adequate mathematical model in problems with high pulsed energy deposition

The problems of choosing the optimal mathematical model for a prescribed range of parameters of a pulsed action are discussed. A preliminary analysis performed by similarity and dimensional-analysis methods using interpolation equations of state of the matter shows that the complete system of equations of gasdynamics can be simplified by dropping individual terms which are not important in a given parameter range. The results of an analysis are presented in the form of nomograms, which also make it possible to identify the class of fast and energy-intensive gasdynamic processes more accurately than at an intuitive level. Hydrolysis of dimethyl 1-acetoxy-2,2,2-trichloroethyl phosphonate

Conclusions The hydrolysis of chloroacetophos in water includes the parallel cleavage of acetic acid, hydrochloric acid and methanol. Synthesis of cyclic sulfites of stereoisomeric 3,4-caranediols
