When is a right orderable group locally indicable?

If a group has an ascending series of subgroups such that for each ordinal , and has no non-abelian free subsemigroup, then is right orderable if and only if it is locally indicable. In particular if is a radical-by-periodic group, then it is right orderable if and only if it is locally indicable.

     

On the physical meaning of the Unruh effect

Simple arguments are presented that detectors moving with constant acceleration (even acceleration for a finite time) should detect particles. The effect is seen to be universal. Moreover, detectors undergoing linear acceleration and uniform circular motion both detect particles for the same physical reason. It is shown that the Unruh effect for a circularly orbiting electron in a constant external magnetic field used as a Unruh-DeWitt detector physically coincides with the experimentally verified Sokolov-Ternov effect. S-curvature of isotropic Berwald metrics

Isotropic Berwald metrics are as a generalization of Berwald metrics. Shen proved that every Berwald metric is of vanishing S-curvature. In this paper, we generalize this fact and prove that every isotropic Berwald metric is of isotropic S-curvature. Let F = α + β be a Randers metric of isotropic Berwald curvature. Then it corresponds to a conformal vector field through navigation representation.     

Palladium-containing composite nanomaterials based on polycaprolactam: Formation and structure

Novel Pd(0) nanocomposites using polycaprolactam as a reducing and stabilizing matrix are synthesized. Data on the nanoparticle formation mechanism in a polycaprolactam matrix under the conditions of changing pH of the medium and reagent concentration ratios are obtained. The nanocomposite structure is studied by electron and infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, atomic force and transmission electron microscopy. The size of metal-containing particles in the composite composition and their size distribution are determined. The obtained nanocomposites can serve as heterogeneous catalysts.
