(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for ternary systems: (heptane + benzene + N-formylmorpholine), (heptane + toluene + N-formylmorpholine), and (heptane + xylene + N-formylmorpholine) have been determined experimentally at temperatures ranging from 298.15 K to 353.15 K. Complete phase diagrams were obtained by determining solubility and tie-line data. Tie-line compositions were correlated by Othmer–Tobias and Bachman methods. The universal quasichemical activity coefficient (UNIQUAC) and the non-random two liquids equation (NRTL) were used to predict the phase equilibrium in the system using the interaction parameters determined from experimental data. It is found that UNIQUAC and NRTL used for LLE could provide a good correlation. Distribution coefficients, separation factors, and selectivity were evaluated for the immiscibility region.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibria (LLE) data were presented for one ternary system of {water + octane + diisopropyl ether (DIPE)} and three quaternary systems of (water + 1-propanol + DIPE + octane, or methylbenzene, or heptane) at T = 298.15 K and p = 100 kPa. The experimental LLE data were correlated with the modified and extended UNIQUAC models. Distribution coefficients were derived from the experimental LLE data to evaluate the solubility behavior of components in organic and aqueous phases.  相似文献

The experimental (liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) properties for two ternary systems containing (N-formylmorpholine + benzene + n-hexane), (sulfolane + benzene + n-hexane) and a quaternary mixed solvent system (sulfolane + N-formylmorpholine + benzene + n-hexane) were measured at temperature ranging from (298.15 to 318.15) K and at an atmospheric pressure. The experimental distribution coefficients and selectivity factors are presented to evaluate the efficiency of the solvents for extraction of benzene from n-hexane. The LLE results obtained indicate that increasing temperature decreases selectivity for all solvents. The LLE results for the systems studied were used to obtain binary interaction parameters in the UNIQUAC model by minimizing the root mean square deviations (RMSD) between the experimental and calculated results. Using the interaction parameters obtained, the phase equilibria in the systems were calculated and plotted. The calculated compositions based on the UNIQUAC model were found to be in good agreement with the experimental values. The result of the RMSD obtained by comparing the calculated and experimental two-phase compositions is 0.0163 for (N-formylmorpholine + benzene + n-hexane) system and is 0.0120 for (sulfolane + benzene + n-hexane) system.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data of the solubility (binodal) curves and tie-line end compositions were examined for mixtures of {water (1) + butyric acid (2) + ethyl propionate or dimethyl phthalate or dibutyl phthalate (3)} at T = 298.15 K and (101.3 ± 0.7) kPa. The relative mutual solubility of the butyric acid is higher in the layers of esters than in the aqueous layer. The reliability of the experimental tie-line data was confirmed by using the Othmer–Tobias correlation. The LLE data of the ternary systems were predicted by UNIFAC method. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were evaluated for the immiscibility region.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid equilibrium) (LLE) data for ternary system: (water + 2,3-butanediol + oleyl alcohol) has been measured at T = (300.2, 307.2, and 314.2) K. Complete phase diagrams were obtained by determining solubility and tie-line data. Tie-line compositions were correlated by Othmer–Tobias and Bachman methods. The nonrandom two liquids equation (NRTL) was used to correlate the phase equilibrium in the system using the interaction parameters determined from experimental data. It is found that NRTL could give a good correlation for the LLE data. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were evaluated for the immiscibility region.  相似文献

This work demonstrates the ability of N-formylmorpholine (NFM) to act as an extraction solvent for the removal of benzene from its mixture with cyclohexane. The (liquid + liquid) equilibria (LLE) were measured for a ternary system of {N-formylmorpholine (NFM) + benzene + cyclohexane} under atmospheric pressure and at temperatures (303.15, 308.15, and 313.15) K. The experimental distribution coefficients (K) and selectivity factors (S) were obtained to reveal the extractive effectiveness of the solvent for separation of benzene from cyclohexane. The LLE results for the system studied indicate that increasing temperature decreases selectivity of the solvent. The reliability of the experimental results was tested by applying the Othmer–Tobias correlation. In addition, the universal quasichemical activity coefficient (UNIQUAC) and the non-random two liquids equation (NRTL) were used to correlate the LLE data using the interaction parameters determined from the experimental data. The root mean square deviations (RMSDs) obtained comparing calculated and experimental two-phase compositions are 0.0367 for the NRTL model and 0.0539 for the UNIQUAC model.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for (water + propionic acid + dipropyl ether) and (water + propionic acid + diisopropyl ether) were measured at T = 298.2 K and atmospheric pressure. The tie-line data were correlated by means of the UNIQUAC equation, and compared with results predicted by the UNIFAC method. A comparison of the extracting capabilities of the solvents was made with respect to distribution coefficients, separation factors, and solvent free selectivity bases.  相似文献

Experimental (liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for a ternary system containing (ethylene glycol + benzene + cyclohexane) were determined at temperatures (298.15, 308.15, and 318.15) K and at atmospheric pressure. The experimental distribution coefficients and selectivity factors are presented to evaluate the efficiency of the solvent for extraction of benzene from cyclohexane. The effect of temperature in extraction of benzene from the (benzene + cyclohexane) mixture indicated that at lower temperatures the selectivity (S) is higher, but the distribution coefficient (K) is rather lower. The LLE results for the system studied were used to obtain binary interaction parameters in the UNIQUAC and NRTL models by minimizing the root mean square deviations (RMSD) between the experimental results and calculated results. Using the interaction parameters obtained, the phase equilibria in the systems were calculated and plotted. The NRTL model fits the (liquid + liquid) equilibrium data of the mixture studied slightly better. The root mean square deviations (RMSDs) obtained comparing calculated and experimental two-phase compositions are 0.92% for the NRTL model and 0.95% for the UNIQUAC model.  相似文献

Excess enthalpy (HE) for the binary system of (methanol + 2,4,4-trimethyl-1-pentene) (TMP-1) is reported at T = 298.15 K and 101 kPa. (Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) for the same system is measured at atmospheric pressure (101 kPa). LLE for ternary system of (water + methanol + 2,4,4-trimethyl-1-pentene) is measured at T = (283 and 298) K.The parameters of Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL) model were regressed for the system of (methanol + TMP-1) using HE and LLE from this work combined with isobaric (101 kPa) and isothermal (T = 331 K) VLE data from literature. The NRTL parameters for the binary system of (water + TMP-1) were fitted to a binary LLE data set from literature. NRTL parameters for the binary system of (water + methanol) were taken from ASPEN PLUS. The LLE for the ternary system was modeled by the three binary NRTL interaction parameters systems. The binary and ternary models were compared against the measured data.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for (water + propionic acid + 2-ethyl-1-hexanol) were determined at atmospheric pressure over the temperature range of (298.15 to 308.15) K. A type-1 LLE phase diagram was obtained for this ternary system. The LLE data were correlated fairly well with UNIQUAC model, indicating the reliability of the UNIQUAC equation for this ternary system. The average root mean square deviation between the observed and calculated mole fractions was 1.57%. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were measured to evaluate the extracting capability of the solvent.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data of the solubility curves and tie-line end compositions are presented for mixtures of {water (1) + tetrahydrofuran (2) + xylene or chlorobenzene or benzyl ether (3)} at T = 298.2 K and P = (101.3 ± 0.7) kPa. Among the studied C6 ring-containing aromatic solvents, xylene gives the largest distribution ratio and separation factors for extraction of tetrahydrofuran. A solvation energy relation (SERLAS) has been used to estimate the (liquid + liquid) equilibria of associated systems containing a nonprotic solvent. The tie-lines were also predicted using the UNIFAC-original model. The reliability of both models has been analyzed against the LLE data with respect to the distribution ratio and separation factor. SERLAS matches LLE data accurately, yielding a mean error of 9.9% for all the systems considered.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for the (water + butyric acid + dodecanol) ternary system have been determined experimentally at T = (298.2, 308.2 and 318.2) K. Complete phase diagrams were obtained by determining binodal curves and tie lines. The reliability of the experimental tie lines was confirmed by using the Othmer–Tobias correlation. The UNIFAC method was used to predict the phase equilibrium in the ternary system using the interaction parameters determined from experimental data of CH3, CH2, COOH, OH and H2O functional groups. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were evaluated for the immiscibility region.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for (water + acetic acid + 2-ethyl-1-hexanol) were measured at atmospheric pressure in the temperature range of (298.2 to 313.2) K. The UNIFAC model was used to predict the observed LLE data with a root-mean-square deviation value of 2.03%. A high degree of consistency of experimental data was obtained using the Othmer–Tobias correlation. The solubility of water in 2-ethyl-1-hexanol was measured at different temperatures.  相似文献

Phase diagram and (liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for the (NaNO3 + polyethylene glycol 4000 (PEG 4000) + H2O) system have been determined experimentally at T = (288.15 and 308.15) K. The effects of temperature on the binodal curves and tie-lines have been studied and it was found that an increasing in temperature caused the expansion of two-phase region. The Chen-NRTL, modified Wilson and UNIQUAC models were used to correlate the experimental tie-line data. The results show that the quality of fitting is better with the UNIQUAC model.  相似文献

Two liquid phases were formed as the addition of a certain amount of biological buffer 3-(N-morpholino)propane sulfonic acid (MOPS) in the aqueous solutions of tetrahydrofuran (THF) or 1,3-dioxolane. To evaluate the feasibility of recovering the cyclic ethers from their aqueous solutions with the aid of MOPS, we determined experimentally the phase diagrams of the ternary systems of {cyclic ether (THF or 1,3-dioxolane) + water + MOPS} at T = 298.15 K under atmospheric pressure. In this study, the solubility data of MOPS in water and in the mixed solvents of water/cyclic ethers were obtained from the results of a series of density measurements, while the (liquid + liquid) and the (solid + liquid + liquid) phase boundaries were determined by visually inspection. Additionally, the tie-line results for (liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) and for (solid + liquid + liquid) equilibrium (SLLE) were measured using an analytical method. The reliability of the experimental LLE tie-line results data was validated by using the Othmer–Tobias correlation. These LLE tie-line values were correlated well with the NRTL model. The phase diagrams obtained from this study reveal that MOPS is a feasible green auxiliary agent to recover the cyclic ethers from their aqueous solutions, especially for 1,3-dioxolane.  相似文献

The distillation of close boiling mixtures may be improved by adding a proper affinity solvent, and thereby creating an extractive distillation process. An example of a close boiling mixture that may be separated by extractive distillation is the mixture ethylbenzene/styrene. The ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate ([EMIM][SCN]) is a promising solvent to separate ethylbenzene and styrene by extractive distillation. In this study, (vapour + liquid) equilibrium data have been measured for the binary system (styrene + [EMIM][SCN]) over the pressure range of (3 to 20) kPa and binary and ternary (liquid + liquid) equilibrium data of the system (ethylbenzene + styrene + [EMIM][SCN]) at temperatures (313.2, 333.2 and 353.2) K. Due to the low solubility of ethylbenzene in [EMIM][SCN], it was not possible to measure accurately VLE data of the binary system (ethylbenzene + [EMIM][SCN]) and of the ternary system (ethylbenzene + styrene + [EMIM][SCN]) using the ebulliometer. Because previous work showed that the LLE selectivity is a good measure for the selectivity in VLE, we determined the selectivity with LLE. The selectivity of [EMIM][SCN] to styrene in LLE measurements ranges from 2.1 at high styrene raffinate purity to 2.6 at high ethylbenzene raffinate purity. The NRTL model can properly describe the experimental results. The rRMSD in temperature, pressure and mole fraction for the binary VLE data are respectively (0.1, 0.12 and 0.13)%. The rRMSD is only 0.7% in mole fraction for the LLE data.  相似文献
