Experimental (liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for a ternary system containing (ethylene glycol + benzene + cyclohexane) were determined at temperatures (298.15, 308.15, and 318.15) K and at atmospheric pressure. The experimental distribution coefficients and selectivity factors are presented to evaluate the efficiency of the solvent for extraction of benzene from cyclohexane. The effect of temperature in extraction of benzene from the (benzene + cyclohexane) mixture indicated that at lower temperatures the selectivity (S) is higher, but the distribution coefficient (K) is rather lower. The LLE results for the system studied were used to obtain binary interaction parameters in the UNIQUAC and NRTL models by minimizing the root mean square deviations (RMSD) between the experimental results and calculated results. Using the interaction parameters obtained, the phase equilibria in the systems were calculated and plotted. The NRTL model fits the (liquid + liquid) equilibrium data of the mixture studied slightly better. The root mean square deviations (RMSDs) obtained comparing calculated and experimental two-phase compositions are 0.92% for the NRTL model and 0.95% for the UNIQUAC model.  相似文献

This work demonstrates the ability of N-formylmorpholine (NFM) to act as an extraction solvent for the removal of benzene from its mixture with cyclohexane. The (liquid + liquid) equilibria (LLE) were measured for a ternary system of {N-formylmorpholine (NFM) + benzene + cyclohexane} under atmospheric pressure and at temperatures (303.15, 308.15, and 313.15) K. The experimental distribution coefficients (K) and selectivity factors (S) were obtained to reveal the extractive effectiveness of the solvent for separation of benzene from cyclohexane. The LLE results for the system studied indicate that increasing temperature decreases selectivity of the solvent. The reliability of the experimental results was tested by applying the Othmer–Tobias correlation. In addition, the universal quasichemical activity coefficient (UNIQUAC) and the non-random two liquids equation (NRTL) were used to correlate the LLE data using the interaction parameters determined from the experimental data. The root mean square deviations (RMSDs) obtained comparing calculated and experimental two-phase compositions are 0.0367 for the NRTL model and 0.0539 for the UNIQUAC model.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for ternary systems: (heptane + benzene + N-formylmorpholine), (heptane + toluene + N-formylmorpholine), and (heptane + xylene + N-formylmorpholine) have been determined experimentally at temperatures ranging from 298.15 K to 353.15 K. Complete phase diagrams were obtained by determining solubility and tie-line data. Tie-line compositions were correlated by Othmer–Tobias and Bachman methods. The universal quasichemical activity coefficient (UNIQUAC) and the non-random two liquids equation (NRTL) were used to predict the phase equilibrium in the system using the interaction parameters determined from experimental data. It is found that UNIQUAC and NRTL used for LLE could provide a good correlation. Distribution coefficients, separation factors, and selectivity were evaluated for the immiscibility region.  相似文献

Isobaric (vapor + liquid) equilibrium at p = 101.32 kPa of pressure has been determined for the systems (1-octanol + cyclohexane) and (1-octanol + n-hexane), at low alcohol mole fractions. These data were satisfactorily correlated, using ASPEN PLUS® commercial software, with Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC activity coefficient models to obtain the binary interaction parameters of both mixtures. Also, UNIFAC group contribution method was employed to predict the equilibrium of both mixtures. With regression values an accurate knowledge of (vapor + liquid) equilibrium for both mixtures can be reached in a range of 1-octanol mole fractions less than 0.1. UNIFAC method provides acceptable results for (1-octanol + n-hexane) system but not for (1-octanol + cyclohexane) system.  相似文献

Liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE) data were determined for the quaternary systems of {(water + methanol or ethanol) + m-xylene + n-dodecane} at three temperatures 298.15, 303.15 and 313.15 K and atmospheric pressure. The composition of liquid phases at equilibrium was determined by gas–liquid chromatography and the results were correlated with the UNIQUAC and NRTL activity coefficient models. The partition coefficients and the selectivity factor of the solvent are calculated and compared. The phase diagrams for the quaternary systems including both the experimental and correlated tie lines are presented.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) results for the ternary mixtures of (methanol or ethanol + toluene or m-xylene + n-dodecane) at three temperatures (298.15, 303.15 and 313.15) K are reported. The compositions of liquid phases at equilibrium were determined by g.l.c. measurements and the results were correlated with the UNIQUAC and NRTL activity coefficient models. The partition coefficients and the selectivity factor of methanol and ethanol are calculated and compared to suggest which alcohol is more suitable for extracting the aromatic hydrocarbons (toluene or m-xylene) from n-dodecane. The phase diagrams for the ternary mixtures including both the experimental and correlated tie lines are presented. From the phase diagrams and the selectivity factors it is concluded that methanol has a higher efficiency as a solvent in extraction of aromatic hydrocarbon from alkane mixtures.  相似文献

Vapour pressures, densities, and viscosities of (jojoba oil + n-hexane) were measured and correlated over the temperature interval (298.15 to 318.15) K and used to calculate the activity coefficients of the components, excess thermodynamics functions, excess molar volumes, isobaric thermal expansibilities, excess viscosities, and the excess Gibbs free energies of activation for viscous flow. The reported results are compared with the corresponding values for commercial (oil + n-hexane) mixtures (cottonseed, soybean, sunflower, corn, olive, grape pip, Vaseline, and linalool oils) reported in the literature. As a by-product of this investigation, the vapour pressures of 1-methoxy-2-propanol from T = (298 to 392) K, 2-ethyl-6-methylaniline from T = (313 to 448) K, and N-methoxyisopropanol-6-ethyl-2-methylaniline from T = (407 to 535) K were measured using an ebulliometric method. A remarkable similarity between the excess properties for all oils is observed, but the behaviour of the excess thermodynamic functions in the case of (n-hexane + jojoba oil), especially in the n-hexane rich region, is quite different.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for the ternary mixtures of (methanol + aniline + n-octane) and (methanol + aniline + n-dodecane) at T = 298.15 K and ambient pressure are reported. The compositions of liquid phases at equilibrium were determined and the results were correlated with the UNIQUAC and NRTL activity coefficient models. The partition coefficients and the selectivity factor of methanol for the extraction of aniline from the (aniline + n-octane or n-dodecane) mixtures are calculated and compared. Based on these comparisons, the efficiency of methanol for the extraction of aniline from (aniline + n-dodecane) mixtures is higher than that for the extraction of aniline from (aniline + n-octane) mixtures. The phase diagrams for the ternary mixtures including both the experimental and correlated tie lines are presented. From the phase diagrams and the selectivity factors, it is concluded that methanol may be used as a suitable solvent in extraction of aniline from (aniline + n-octane or n-dodecane) mixtures.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibria (LLE) data were presented for one ternary system of {water + octane + diisopropyl ether (DIPE)} and three quaternary systems of (water + 1-propanol + DIPE + octane, or methylbenzene, or heptane) at T = 298.15 K and p = 100 kPa. The experimental LLE data were correlated with the modified and extended UNIQUAC models. Distribution coefficients were derived from the experimental LLE data to evaluate the solubility behavior of components in organic and aqueous phases.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data were measured experimentally at T = (298.15 or 303.15) K and atmospheric pressure for the (benzene + cyclohexane + dimethyl sulfone (DMSO)) system. The Othmer–Tobias equation was applied to verify the reliability of the data. Based on the data, the selectivity of DMSO was estimated and compared with that of ionic liquids. The highest selectivity coefficient of DMSO can reach beyond 14, which means it is able to compete with some ionic liquids and it would be a good extractant to separate benzene from cyclohexane. At the same time, the NRTL model was used to correlate the data and the results show that the model agrees on the experimental data very well.  相似文献

The (solid + liquid) phase equilibrium (SLE) and (liquid + liquid) phase equilibrium (LLE) for the binary systems ionic liquid (IL) N-hexyl-3-methylpyridinium tosylate (p-toluenesulfonate), {([HM3Py][TOS] + water, or an alcohol (1-butanol, or 1-hexanol, or 1-octanol, or 1-decanol), or an aromatic hydrocarbon (benzene, toluene, or ethylbenzene, or propylbenzene), or an alkane (n-hexane, n-heptane, n-octane)} have been determined at ambient pressure using a dynamic method. Simple eutectic systems with complete miscibility in the liquid phase were observed for the systems involving water and alcohols. The phase equilibrium diagrams of IL and aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbons exhibit eutectic systems with immiscibility in the liquid phase with an upper critical solution temperature as for most of the ILs. The correlation of the experimental data has been carried out using the UNIQUAC, Wilson and the non-random two liquid (NRTL) correlation equations. The results reported here have been compared with analogous phase diagrams reported by our group previously for systems containing the tosylate-based ILs.  相似文献

The determination region of solubility of TBA (tert-butanol) with representative compounds of the gasoline was investigated experimentally at temperature of 298.2 K. Type 1 (liquid + liquid) phase diagrams were obtained for (methylcyclohexane + TBA + aromatic compounds). These results were correlated simultaneously by the UNIQUAC model. The values of the interaction parameters between each pair of components in the systems were obtained for the UNIQUAC model using the experimental result. The root mean square deviation (RMSD) between the observed and calculated mole percents was 1.88 for (methylcyclohexane + TBA + benzene), 2.45 for (methylcyclohexane + TBA + toluene) and 2.86 for (methylcyclohexane + TBA + ethylbenzene). The mutual solubility of methylcyclohexane and aromatic compounds (e.g., benzene toluene and ethylbenzene (BTE)) was also investigated by the addition of TBA at temperature of 298.2 K.  相似文献

(Solid + liquid) phase equilibria (SLE) and (liquid + liquid) phase equilibria (LLE) for the binary systems: ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolim tosylate (p-toluenesulfonate) {[BMIM][TOS] + water, an alcohol (ethanol, or 1-butanol, or 1-hexanol, or 1-octanol, or 1-decanol), or n-hexane, or an aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, or toluene, or ethylbenzene, or propylbenzene, or thiophene)} have been determined at ambient pressure. A dynamic method was used over a broad range of mole fractions and temperatures from (230 to 340) K. For the binary systems containing water, or an alcohol, simple eutectic diagrams were observed with complete miscibility in the liquid phase. As usual, with increasing chain length of the alcohol the solubility decreases. In the case of mixtures {IL + n-hexane, or benzene, or alkylbenzene, or thiophene} the eutectic systems with mutual immiscibility in the liquid phase with an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) were detected. The basic thermal properties of the pure IL, i.e. melting and glass-transition temperatures, as well as the enthalpy of fusion have been measured using a differential scanning microcalorimetry technique (DSC). Density at high temperatures was determined and extrapolated to 298.15 K. Well-known UNIQUAC, Wilson and NRTL equations have been used to correlate experimental SLE data sets for alcohols and water. For the systems containing immiscibility gaps {IL + n-hexane, or benzene, or alkylbenzene, or thiophene}, parameters of the LLE correlation equation have been derived using only the NRTL equation.  相似文献

The isothermal and isobaric (vapour  +  liquid) equilibria (v.l.e.) for (N, N - dimethylformamide  +  2-propanol  +  1-butanol) and the binary constituent mixtures were measured with an inclined ebulliometer. The experimental results are analyzed using the UNIQUAC equation with temperature-dependent binary parameters. The comparison between the experimental and literature results for binary systems is given. The ternary v.l.e. values are predicted from the binary results.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for (water + propionic acid + 2-ethyl-1-hexanol) were determined at atmospheric pressure over the temperature range of (298.15 to 308.15) K. A type-1 LLE phase diagram was obtained for this ternary system. The LLE data were correlated fairly well with UNIQUAC model, indicating the reliability of the UNIQUAC equation for this ternary system. The average root mean square deviation between the observed and calculated mole fractions was 1.57%. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were measured to evaluate the extracting capability of the solvent.  相似文献

The extraction of aromatic compound toluene from alkane, dodecane, by mixed solvents (water + methanol), (water + ethanol) and (methanol + ethanol) have been studied by (liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) measurements at three temperatures (298.15, 303.15, and 313.15) K and ambient pressure. The compositions of liquid phases at equilibrium were determined by gas liquid chromatography. The experimental tie-line data for three quaternary mixtures of {(water + methanol) + toluene + dodecane}, {(water + ethanol) + toluene + dodecane}, and {(methanol + ethanol) + toluene + dodecane} are presented. The experimental quaternary LLE data have been satisfactorily correlated by using the UNIQUAC and NRTL activity coefficient models. The parameters of the models have been evaluated and presented. The tie-line data of the studied quaternary mixtures also were correlated using the Hand method. The partition coefficients and the selectivity factor of solvent are calculated and compared for the three mixed solvents. The comparisons indicate that the selectivity factor for mixed solvent (methanol + ethanol) is higher than the other two mixed solvents at the three studied temperatures. However, considering the temperature variations of partition coefficients of toluene in two liquid phases at equilibrium, an optimum temperature may be obtained for an efficient extraction of toluene from dodecane by the mixed solvents.  相似文献

Experimental tie-line results and phase diagrams were obtained for the ternary systems of {water + propionic acid + organic solvent (cyclohexane, toluene, and methylcyclohexane)} at T = 303.2 K and atmospheric pressure. The organic solvents were two cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons (i.e., cyclohexane and methylcyclohexane) and an aromatic hydrocarbon (toluene). The experimental tie-lines values were also compared with those calculated by the UNIQUAC and NRTL models. The consistency of the values of the experimental tie-lines was determined through the Othmer–Tobias and Hands plots. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were evaluated over the immiscibility regions and a comparison of the extracting capabilities of the solvents was made with respect to distribution coefficients and separation factors. The Kamlet LSER model was applied to correlate distribution coefficients and separation factors in these ternary systems. The LSER model values showed a good regression to the experimental results.  相似文献

Phase diagram and (liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for the (NaNO3 + polyethylene glycol 4000 (PEG 4000) + H2O) system have been determined experimentally at T = (288.15 and 308.15) K. The effects of temperature on the binodal curves and tie-lines have been studied and it was found that an increasing in temperature caused the expansion of two-phase region. The Chen-NRTL, modified Wilson and UNIQUAC models were used to correlate the experimental tie-line data. The results show that the quality of fitting is better with the UNIQUAC model.  相似文献

Isobaric (vapour + liquid + liquid) equilibria were measured for the (di-n-propyl ether + n-propyl alcohol + water) and (diisopropyl ether + isopropyl alcohol + water) system at 100 kPa.The apparatus used for the determination of (vapour + liquid + liquid) equilibrium data was an all-glass dynamic recirculating still with an ultrasonic homogenizer couple to the boiling flask. The experimental data demonstrated the existence of a heterogeneous ternary azeotrope for both ternary systems.
