The optical properties of stoichiometric copper chalcogenide nanocrystals (NCs) are characterized by strong interband transitions in the blue part of the spectral range and a weaker absorption onset up to ~1000 nm, with negligible absorption in the near-infrared (NIR). Oxygen exposure leads to a gradual transformation of stoichiometric copper chalcogenide NCs (namely, Cu(2-x)S and Cu(2-x)Se, x = 0) into their nonstoichiometric counterparts (Cu(2-x)S and Cu(2-x)Se, x > 0), entailing the appearance and evolution of an intense localized surface plasmon (LSP) band in the NIR. We also show that well-defined copper telluride NCs (Cu(2-x)Te, x > 0) display a NIR LSP, in analogy to nonstoichiometric copper sulfide and selenide NCs. The LSP band in copper chalcogenide NCs can be tuned by actively controlling their degree of copper deficiency via oxidation and reduction experiments. We show that this controlled LSP tuning affects the excitonic transitions in the NCs, resulting in photoluminescence (PL) quenching upon oxidation and PL recovery upon subsequent reduction. Time-resolved PL spectroscopy reveals a decrease in exciton lifetime correlated to the PL quenching upon LSP evolution. Finally, we report on the dynamics of LSPs in nonstoichiometric copper chalcogenide NCs. Through pump-probe experiments, we determined the time constants for carrier-phonon scattering involved in LSP cooling. Our results demonstrate that copper chalcogenide NCs offer the unique property of holding excitons and highly tunable LSPs on demand, and hence they are envisaged as a unique platform for the evaluation of exciton/LSP interactions.  相似文献

We present the results of a comparative analysis of the absorption and photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra vs. integrated photoluminescence (IPL) measured as a function of the excitation wavelength for a number of samples containing II–VI semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) produced by different techniques. The structure of the absorption and PL spectra due to excitons confined in NCs and difficulties with the correct interpretation of the transmittance and PLE results are discussed. It is shown that, compared to the conventional PLE, the IPL intensity plotted against the excitation wavelength (IPLE spectra) reproduce better the structure of the absorption spectra. Therefore, IPLE spectroscopy can be successfully used for probing the quantized electron-hole (e-h) transitions in semiconductor nanocrystals.  相似文献

Semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) possess high photoluminescence (PL) typically in the solution phase. In contrary, PL rapidly quenches in the solid state. Efficient solid state luminescence can be achieved by inducing a large Stokes shift. Here we report on a novel synthesis of compositionally controlled CuCdS NCs in air avoiding the usual complexity of using inert atmosphere. These NCs show long‐range color tunability over the entire visible range with a remarkable Stokes shift up to about 1.25 eV. Overcoating the NCs leads to a high solid‐state PL quantum yield (QY) of ca. 55 % measured by using an integrating sphere. Unique charge carrier recombination mechanisms have been recognized from the NCs, which are correlated to the internal NC structure probed by using extended X‐ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. EXAFS measurements show a Cu‐rich surface and Cd‐rich interior with 46 % CuI being randomly distributed within 84 % of the NC volume creating additional transition states for PL. Color‐tunable solid‐state luminescence remains stable in air enabling fabrication of light‐emitting diodes (LEDs).  相似文献

The absorption and photoluminescence (PL) properties of silicon quantum dots (QDs) are greatly influenced by their size and surface chemistry. Herein, we examined the optical properties of three Si QDs with increasing σ–π conjugation length: octyl‐, (trimethylsilyl)vinyl‐, and 2‐phenylvinyl‐capped Si QDs. The PL photon energy obtained from as‐prepared samples decreased by 0.1–0.3 eV, while the PL excitation (PLE) extended from 360 nm (octyl‐capped Si QDs) to 400 nm (2‐phenylvinyl‐capped Si QDs). A vibrational PL feature was observed in all samples with an energy separation of about 0.192±0.013 eV, which was explained based on electron–phonon coupling. After soft oxidization through drying, all samples showed blue PL with maxima at approximately 410 nm. A similar high‐energy peak was observed with the bare Si QD sample. The changes in the optical properties of Si QDs were mainly explained by the formation of additional states arising from the strong σ–π conjugation and QD oxidation.  相似文献

A series of lead‐free double perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) Cs2AgSb1?yBiyX6 (X: Br, Cl; 0≤y≤1) is synthesized. In particular, the Cs2AgSbBr6 NCs is a new double perovskite material that has not been reported for the bulk form. Mixed Ag–Sb/Bi NCs exhibit enhanced stability in colloidal solution compared to Ag–Bi or Ag–Sb NCs. Femtosecond transient absorption studies indicate the presence of two prominent fast trapping processes in the charge‐carrier relaxation. The two fast trapping processes are dominated by intrinsic self‐trapping (ca. 1–2 ps) arising from giant exciton–phonon coupling and surface‐defect trapping (ca. 50–100 ps). Slow hot‐carrier relaxation is observed at high pump fluence, and the possible mechanisms for the slow hot‐carrier relaxation are also discussed.  相似文献

Traditional CdSe‐based colloidal quantum dots (cQDs) have interesting photoluminescence (PL) properties. Herein we highlight the advantages in both ensemble and single‐nanocrystal PL of colloidal CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) over the traditional cQDs. An ensemble of colloidal CsPbBr3 NCs (11 nm) exhibits ca. 90 % PL quantum yield with narrow (FWHM=86 meV) spectral width. Interestingly, the spectral width of a single‐NC and an ensemble are almost identical, ruling out the problem of size‐distribution in PL broadening. Eliminating this problem leads to a negligible influence of self‐absorption and Förster resonance energy transfer, along with batch‐to‐batch reproducibility of NCs exhibiting PL peaks within ±1 nm. Also, PL peak positions do not alter with measurement temperature in the range of 25 to 100 °C. Importantly, CsPbBr3 NCs exhibit suppressed PL blinking with ca. 90 % of the individual NCs remain mostly emissive (on‐time >85 %), without much influence of excitation power.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the interactions between cysteamine-stabilized CdTe nanocrystals [CdTe(CA) NCs] and thioglycolic-acid-stabilized CdTe nanocrystals [CdTe(TGA) NCs]. These interactions were examined by the absorption, continuous, and time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectra of the electrostatically mixed and the covalently linked NCs assemblies comprised of the oppositely surface charged CdTe(CA) and CdTe(TGA) NCs and by a comparison with those of the corresponding pristine NCs. The CdTe(CA)-CdTe(TGA) coupling is dictated by the surfactant spacer, ranging between 0.93 and 1.14 nm and by electrostatic and covalent interactions, enabling a F?rster resonance energy transfer (FRET) process among the NCs. The results revealed an excellent spectral overlap between the emission of the CdTe(TGA) NCs and the absorption of the CdTe(CA) NCs as well as a PL spectral red shift on the formation of electrostatic and covalent interactions. Furthermore, the measurements showed a lifetime ranging between 1.2 and 3 ns for the electrostatically mixed and the covalently linked assemblies, shorter than those of the pristine CdTe(CA) NCs and CdTe(TGA) NCs, both of which measured as approximately 5.5 ns. When CdTe(TGA) NCs performed as the most efficient donors, FRET rates of 10(10)-10(11) s(-1) were calculated for the electrostatically mixed NCs or covalently linked NCs.  相似文献

We have synthesized CdSe nanocrystals (NCs) in sizes from 2.2 to 5.1 nm passivated with hydrophobic trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) in combination trioctylphosphine (TOP) or tributylphosphine (TBP) to obtain particles of the type CdSe/TOPO/TOP or CdSe/TOPO/TBP. These NCs were then dispersed in aqueous solution of ionic or non-ionic surfactants (such as stearate, oleic acid, Tween) using a biphase (water and chloroform or hexane) transfer method. It is found that both the structure of the surfactant and the native surface of the ligand govern the coating of the NCs with surfactants. More specifically, the hydrophobicity-hydrophilicity balance of the surfactant regulates the coating efficacy, thereby transferring the NC from the organic to the aqueous phase. The type of ligand on the NCs and the kind of coating surfactant also affect photoluminescence (PL). The ratio of PL and absorbance unit (defined as PL per 0.1 AU) was implemented as a tool to monitor changes in PL intensity and wavelength as a function of size, coatings and surface defects. Finally, the distribution of CdSe nanocrystals between pseudophases in cloud point extraction was discussed based on experimental results. It was concluded that the size of CdSe nanocrystal present in an appropriate pseudophase is correlated with the way in which the non-ionic surfactant coats CdSe nanocrystals.

Coating of CdSe semiconductor nanocrystals with surfactants impacts nanocrystals’ spectral features. Absorbance of first exciton absorption band was used to estimate ability of surfactant to disperse CdSe nanocrystals. Photoluminescence (PL) intensity and position of PL band were analysed in terms of nanocrystal’s surface phenomena via surfactants applied for coating.  相似文献

As one of the most popular nanocrystals (NCs), aqueous CdTe NCs have very weak green emission under conventional synthesis conditions. In this work, we report the first example of blue‐emitting CdTe NCs directly synthesized in aqueous solution by slowing down the growth rate after nucleation. The key for the synthesis is the optimization of NC growth conditions, namely pH range of 7.5 to 8.5, TGA/Cd ratio of 3.6, Cd/Te ratio of 10, and Te concentration of 2×10?5 mol/L, to get a slow growth rate after nucleation. The as‐prepared blue‐emitting CdTe NCs have small size (as small as 1.9 nm) and bright emission [with 4% photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) at 486 nm and 17% PLQY at 500 nm]. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of the as‐prepared CdTe show monodispersed NCs which exhibit cubic zinc blend structure. Moreover, time‐resolved PL decay and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results show the as‐prepared NCs have better surface modification by ligand, which makes these luminescent small CdTe NCs have higher photoluminescence quantum yield, compared with NCs synthesized under conventional conditions.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the photoluminescence (PL) intensity of colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) makes them an appealing option in bio-sensing applications. Here, we probed the temperature-dependent PL behavior of aqueous glutathione (GSH)-capped Ag−In−S (AIS) NCs and their core/shell AIS/ZnS heterostructures. We show that both core and core-shell materials reveal strong PL quenching upon heating from 10 to 80 °C, which is completely reversible upon cooling. The PL quenching is assigned to the thermally activated dissociation of complexes formed by ligands with the metal cations on the NC surface and the introduction of water into the NC coordination sphere. This unique mechanism of the thermal PL quenching results in a much higher temperature sensitivity of the aqueous colloidal AIS (AIS/ZnS) NCs as compared with previously reported analogs capped by covalently bound ligands. Our results are expected to stimulate further studies on aqueous ternary NCs as colloidal luminescent nano-thermometers applicable for ratiometric temperature sensing.  相似文献

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) is generally observed in solid-state organic molecules or metal-organic complexes. However, TADF in all-inorganic colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) is rare. Herein, we report the first colloidal synthesis of an air-stable all-inorganic lead-free Cs2ZrCl6 perovskite NCs. The Cs2ZrCl6 NCs exhibit long-lived triplet excited state (138.2 μs), and feature high photoluminescence (PL) quantum efficiency (QY=60.37 %) due to TADF mechanism. The emission color can be easily tuned from blue to green by synthesizing the mixed-halide Cs2ZrBrxCl6−x (0≤x≤1.5) NCs. Femtosecond transient absorption and temperature dependent PL measurements are performed to clarify the emission mechanism. In addition, Bi3+ ions are successfully doped into Cs2ZrCl6 NCs, which further extends the PL properties. This work not only develops a new lead-free halide perovskite NCs for potential optoelectronic applications, but also offers unique strategies for developing new inorganic phosphors.  相似文献

Lead sulfide (PbS) nanocrystals (NCs), embedded in amorphous zirconia sol-gel film with different PbS mole concentration (5–30%), were grown at temperature, ranging from 200°C to 350°C. The size of PbS NCs was determined by TEM and by blue shift of the absorption edge. The size increased with an increase of the synthesis temperature and PbS mole concentration. The optical and electrical properties of various sizes of PbS NCs in zirconia film are investigated utilizing absorption, photoluminescence (PL) and current-voltage measurement. The PL spectra were Stokes shifted from the corresponding absorption edge by about 0.5 eV. The latter can be associated with recombination process from surface state. The electrical properties were investigated by the deposition of the PbS NCs-zirconia films on ITO/glass substrate, followed by their coverage with gold contact. The current-voltage characteristics depend on the PbS NCs size and exhibits nonlinear nearly symmetric curve, associated with the space-charge limited current or the tunneling of carriers through the nanocrystalline film.  相似文献

Noble metal nanocrystals (NCs) enclosed with high‐index facets hold a high catalytic activity thanks to the high density of low‐coordinated step atoms that they exposed on their surface. Shape‐control synthesis of the metal NCs with high‐index facets presents a big challenge owing to the high surface energy of the NCs, and the shape control for metal Rh is even more difficult because of its extraordinarily high surface energy in comparison with Pt, Pd, and Au. The successful synthesis is presented of tetrahexahedral Rh NCs (THH Rh NCs) enclosed by {830} high‐index facets through the dynamic oxygen adsorption/desorption mediated by square‐wave potential. The results demonstrate that the THH Rh NCs exhibit greatly enhanced catalytic activity over commercial Rh black catalyst for the electrooxidation of ethanol and CO.  相似文献

Zn(1-x)Mn(x)Te nanocrystals (NCs), at various concentrations x, were successfully grown in a host glass matrix by the fusion method after appropriate annealing. Growth of these NCs was evidenced by optical absorption (OA), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), magnetic force microscopy (MFM) and photoluminescence (PL) measurements. From the room temperature OA spectra, it was possible to observe the formation of two well defined, different sized groups of NCs, one attributed to quantum dots (QDs) and the other to bulk-like nanocrystals (NCs). XRD results have confirmed that the cubic zincblend structure of nanoparticles is not altered by the substitutional incorporation of Mn(2+) ions into the ZnTe NCs. MFM images supported the OA spectra results and thus provided additional confirmation of the formation of Zn(1-x)Mn(x)Te magnetic nanoparticles in the host glass matrix. The two groups of NCs were also observed in the PL spectra as well as deep defects attributed to the presence of oxygen centers in the electronic structure of the Zn(1-x)Mn(x)Te NCs. Strong agreement between the fitting model, based on rate equation, and experimental PL intensity data at different temperatures demonstrates that this model adequately describes the energy transfer processes between the NCs and the defects of the Zn(1-x)Mn(x)Te system at different temperatures.  相似文献

Copper‐based ternary (I–III–VI) chalcogenide nanocrystals (NCs) are compositionally‐flexible semiconductors that do not contain lead (Pb) or cadmium (Cd). Cu‐In‐S NCs are the dominantly studied member of this important materials class and have been reported to contain optically‐active defect states. However, there are minimal reports of In‐free compositions that exhibit efficient photoluminescence (PL). Here, we report a novel solution‐phase synthesis of ≈4 nm defective nanocrystals (DNCs) composed of copper, aluminum, zinc, and sulfur with ≈20 % quantum yield and an attractive PL maximum of 450 nm. Extensive spectroscopic characterization suggests the presence of highly localized electronic states resulting in reasonably fast PL decays (≈1 ns), large vibrational energy spacing, small Stokes shift, and temperature‐independent PL linewidth and PL lifetime (between room temperature and ≈5 K). Furthermore, density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest PL transitions arise from defects within a CuAl5S8 crystal lattice, which supports the experimental observation of highly‐localized states. The results reported here provide a new material with unique optoelectronic characteristics that is an important analog to well‐explored Cu‐In‐S NCs.  相似文献

A fluorophore–phenylamine derivative ( L ) has been coupled with silver nanocrystals (NCs) to construct an L– Ag nanohybrid. Owing to synergic effects of the L and Ag components, the exciton–plasmon interactions between L and Ag increase the strength of the donor–acceptor interaction within the nanohybrid, a fact that results in an energy‐transfer process and further brings about a dramatic redshift of single‐photon absorption and fluorescence, and a decreased fluorescence FL lifetime. The coupling effect also leads to enhancement of a series of nonlinear optical properties, including two‐photon‐excited fluorescence (TPEF), two‐photon‐absorption (TPA) cross section (δ), two‐photon‐absorption coefficient (β), nonlinear refractive index (γ), and third order nonlinear optical susceptibility (χ(3)). The enhanced two‐photon fluorescence of the nanohybrid is proven to be potentially useful for two‐photon microscopy of live cells, such as HepG2. Moreover, cytotoxicity tests show that the low‐micromolar concentrations of the nanohybrid do not cause significant reduction in cell viability over a period of at least 24 h and should be safe for further biological studies.  相似文献

The optical properties of a series of three cyclophanes comprising either identical or different perylene bisimide (PBI) chromophores were studied by UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy and their distinctive spectral features were analyzed. All the investigated cyclophanes show significantly different absorption features with respect to the corresponding constituent PBI monomers indicating strong coupling interactions between the PBI units within the cyclophanes. DFT calculations suggest a π‐stacked arrangement of the PBI units at close van der Waals distance in the cyclophanes with rotational displacement. Simulations of the absorption spectra based on time‐dependent quantum mechanics properly reproduced the experimental spectra, revealing exciton‐vibrational coupling between the chromophores both in homo‐ and heterodimer stacks. The PBI cyclophane comprising two different PBI chromophores represents the first example of a PBI heterodimer stack for which the exciton coupling has been investigated. The quantum dynamics analysis reveals that exciton coupling in heteroaggregates is indeed of similar strength as for homoaggregates.  相似文献
