Density functional and ab initio calculations at CBS-QB3 levels of theory were employed with a series of isodesmic reactions to determine the thermochemistry of the 2-oxopropyl or acetonyl radical (CH(3)COC*H2). In turn, this was used to determine formation enthalpies of 2-oxoethyl or formylmethyl (C*H(2)CHO), 2-oxobutyl (C*H(2)COC(2)H(5)), 1-methyl-2-oxopropyl or methylacetonyl (C*H(CH(3))COCH(3)), 1-methyl-2-oxobutyl (C*H(CH(3))COC(2)H(5)), and 3-oxopentyl (C*H(2)CH2COC(2)H(5)). Our computed standard enthalpy of formation of -34.9 +/- 1.9 kJ mol-1 and a resonance stabilization energy of approximately 22 kJ mol(-1) for acetonyl are in good agreement with recent re-determinations, which have indicated a substantial lowering in the long-established value for DeltaH(f)o (298.15 K). A bond dissociation energy of 401 kJ mol(-1) is suggested for the C-H bond in acetone with consistent values for the others. The calculations support the enthalpy of formation of acetaldehyde obtained from combustion experiments of -166.1 kJ mol(-1) rather than the figure of -170.7 kJ mol(-1) extracted from enthalpies of reduction and, in addition, serve to reduce the uncertainty in DeltaH(f)o the 2-oxoethyl radical to +13 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

Alkylamines (RCH(2)NH(2), R = H, CH(3), C(2)H(5), C(3)H(7), i-C(3)H(7)) have been investigated by dissociative photoionization by threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (TPEPICO). The 0 K dissociation limits (9.754 +/- 0.008, 9.721 +/- 0.008, 9.702 +/- 0.012, and 9.668 +/- 0.012 eV for R = CH(3), C(2)H(5), C(3)H(7), i-C(3)H(7), respectively) have been determined by preparing energy-selected ions and collecting the fractional abundances of parent and daughter ions. All alkylamine cations produce the methylenimmonium ion, CH(2)NH(2)+, and the corresponding alkyl free radical. Two isodesmic reaction networks have also been constructed. The first one consists of the alkylamine parent molecules, and the other of the alkyl radical photofragments. Reaction heats within the isodesmic networks have been calculated at the CBS-APNO and W1U levels of theory. The two networks are connected by the TPEPICO dissociation energies. The heats of formation of the amines and the alkyl free radicals are then obtained by a modified least-squares fit to minimize the discrepancy between the TPEPICO and the ab initio values. The analysis of the fit reveals that the previous experimental heats of formation are largely accurate, but certain revisions are suggested. Thus, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[CH(3)NH(2)(g)] = -21.8 +/- 1.5 kJ mol-1, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(2)H(5)NH(2)(g)] = -50.1 +/- 1.5 kJ mol(-1), Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(3)H(7)NH(2)(g)] = -70.8 +/- 1.5 kJ mol(-1), Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(3)H(7)*] = 101.3 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1), and Delta(f)Ho(298K)[i-C(3)H(7)*] = 88.5 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1). The TPEPICO and the ab initio results for butylamine do not agree within 1 kJ mol-1; therefore, no new heat of formation is proposed for butylamine. It is nevertheless indicated that the previous experimental heats of formation of methylamine, propylamine, butylamine, and isobutylamine may have been systematically underestimated. On the other hand, the error in the ethyl radical heat of formation is found to be overestimated and can be decreased to +/- 1 kJ mol(-1); thus, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(2)H(5).] = 120.7 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1). On the basis of the data analysis, the heat of formation of the methylenimmonium ion is confirmed to be Delta(f)Ho(298K)[CH(2)NH(2)+] = 750.3 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

The energetics of the phenolic O-H bond in a series of 2- and 4-HOC 6H 4C(O)Y (Y = H, CH3, CH 2CH=CH2, C[triple bond]CH, CH2F, NH2, NHCH 3, NO2, OH, OCH3, OCN, CN, F, Cl, SH, and SCH3) compounds and of the intramolecular O...H hydrogen bond in 2-HOC 6H 4C(O)Y, was investigated by using a combination of experimental and theoretical methods. The standard molar enthalpies of formation of 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (2HBA), 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (4HBA), 2'-hydroxyacetophenone (2HAP), 2-hydroxybenzamide (2HBM), and 4-hydroxybenzamide (4HBM), at 298.15 K, were determined by micro- or macrocombustion calorimetry. The corresponding enthalpies of vaporization or sublimation were also measured by Calvet drop-calorimetry and Knudsen effusion measurements. The combination of the obtained experimental data led to Delta f H m (o)(2HBA, g) = -238.3 +/- 2.5 kJ.mol (-1), DeltafHm(o)(4HBA, g) = -220.3 +/- 2.0 kJ.mol(-1), Delta f H m (o)(2HAP, g) = -291.8 +/- 2.1 kJ.mol(-1), DeltafHm(o)(2HBM, g) = -304.8 +/- 1.5 kJ.mol (-1), and DeltafHm(o) (4HBM, g) = -278.4 +/- 2.4 kJ.mol (-1). These values, were used to assess the predictions of the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p), B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p), B3LYP/aug-cc-pVDZ, B3P86/6-31G(d,p), B3P86/6-311+G(d,p), B3P86/aug-cc-pVDZ, and CBS-QB3 methods, for the enthalpies of a series of isodesmic gas phase reactions. In general, the CBS-QB3 method was able to reproduce the experimental enthalpies of reaction within their uncertainties. The B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) method, with a slightly poorer accuracy than the CBS-QB3 approach, achieved the best performance of the tested DFT models. It was further used to analyze the trends of the intramolecular O...H hydrogen bond in 2-HOC 6H 4C(O)Y evaluated by the ortho-para method and to compare the energetics of the phenolic O-H bond in 2- and 4-HOC 6H 4C(O)Y compounds. It was concluded that the O-H bond "strength" is systematically larger for 2-hydroxybenzoyl than for the corresponding 4-hydroxybenzoyl isomers mainly due to the presence of the intramolecular O...H hydrogen bond in the 2-isomers. The observed differences are, however, significantly dependent on the nature of the substituent Y, in particular, when an intramolecular H-bond can be present in the radical obtained upon cleavage of the O-H bond.  相似文献

Peptides and proteins may contain post-translationally modified phosphorylated amino acid residues, in particular phosphorylated serine (pSer), threonine (pThr) and tyrosine (pTyr). Following earlier work by Lehmann et al., the [M-H]- anions of peptides containing pSer and pThr functionality show loss of the elements of H3PO4. This process, illustrated for Ser (and using a model system), is CH3CONH-C(CH2OPO3H2)CONHCH(3) --> [CH3CONHC(==CH2)CONHCH3 (-OPO3H2)] (a) --> [CH3CONHC(==CH2)CONHCH3-H]- + H3PO4, a process endothermic by 83 kJ mol(-1) at the MP2/6-31++G(d,p)//HF/6-31++G(d,p) level of theory. In addition, intermediate (a) may decompose to yield CH3CONHC(==CH2)CONHCH3 + H2PO4 - in a process exothermic by 3 kJ mol(-1). The barrier to the transition state for these two processes is 49 kJ mol(-1). Characteristic cleavages of pSer and pThr are more energetically favourable than the negative ion backbone cleavages of peptides described previously. In contrast, loss of HPO3 from [M-H]- is characteristic of pTyr. The cleavage [NH2CH(CH2-C6H4-OPO3H-)CO2H] --> [NH2C(CH2-C6H4-O-)CO2H (HPO3)] (b) --> NH2CH(CH2-C6H4-O-)CO2H + HPO3 is endothermic by 318 kJ mol(-1) at the HF/6-31+G(d)//AM1 level of theory. In addition, intermediate (b) also yields NH2CH(CH2-C6H4-OH)CO2H + PO3 - (reaction endothermic by 137 kJ mol(-1)). The two negative ion cleavages of pTyr have a barrier to the transition state of 198 kJ mol(-1) (at the HF/6-31+G(d)//AM1 level of theory) comparable with those already reported for negative ion backbone cleavages.  相似文献

Energy selected mono-, di- and trimethylamine ions were prepared by threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (TPEPICO). Below 13 eV, the main dissociative photoionization path of these molecules is hydrogen atom loss. The ion time-of-flight (TOF) distributions and breakdown diagrams for H loss are analyzed in terms of the statistical RRKM theory, which includes tunneling. Experimental evidence, supported by quantum chemical calculations, indicates that the reverse barrier along the H loss potential energy curve for monomethylamine is 1.8 +/- 0.6 kJ mol(-1). Accurate dissociation onset energies are derived from the TOF simulation, and from this analysis we conclude that Delta(f)H degrees (298K)[CH(2)NH(2)(+)] = 750.4 +/- 1.3 kJ mol(-1) and Delta(f)H degrees (298K)[CH(2)NH(CH(3))(+)] = 710.9 +/- 2.8 kJ mol(-1). Quantum chemical calculations at the G3, G3B3, CBS-APNO and W1U levels are extensively used to support the experimental data. The comparison between experimental and ab initio isodesmic reaction heats also suggests that Delta(f)H degrees (298K)[N(CH(3))(3)] = -27.2 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1), and that the dimethylamine ionization energy is 8.32 +/- 0.03 eV, both of which are in slight disagreement with previous experimental values. Above 13 eV photon energy, additional dissociation channels appear besides the H atom loss, such as a sequential C(2)H(4) loss from trimethylamine for which a dissociation mechanism is proposed.  相似文献

A systematic study of the binding affinities of the model biological ligands X: = (CH3)2S, CH3S-, CH3NH2, 4-CH3-imidazole (MeImid), C6H5O-, and CH3CO2- to (NH3)i(H2O)3-iCu(II)-H2O (i = 3, 2, 1, 0) complexes has been carried out using quantum chemical calculations. Geometries have been obtained at the B3LYP/ 6-31G(d) level of theory, and binding energies, Delta, relative to H2O as a ligand, have been calculated at the B3LYP/6-311+G(2df,2p)//B3LYP/6-31G(d) level. Solvation effects have been included using the COSMO model, and the relative binding free energies in aqueous solution (Delta) have been determined at pH 7 for processes that are pH dependent. CH3S- (Delta = -16.0 to -53.5 kJ mol(-1)) and MeImid (Delta = -18.5 to -35.2 kJ mol(-1)) give the largest binding affinities for Cu(II). PhO- and (CH3)2S are poor ligands for Cu(II), Delta = 20.6 to -9.7 and 19.8 to -3.7 kJ mol(-1), respectively. The binding affinities for CH3NH2 range from -0.8 to -15.0 kJ mol(-1). CH3CO2- has Cu(II) binding affinities in the ranges Delta = -13.5 to -32.4 kJ mol(-1) if an adjacent OH bond is available for hydrogen bonding and Delta = 10.1 to -4.6 kJ mol(-1) if this interaction is not present. In the context of copper coordination by the Abeta peptide of Alzheimer's disease, the binding affinities suggest preferential binding of Cu(II) to the three histidine residues plus a lysine or the N-terminus. For a 3N1O Cu(II) ligand arrangement, it is more probable that the oxygen ligand comes from an aspartate/glutamate residue side chain than from the tyrosine at position 10. Methionine appears unlikely to be a Cu(II) ligand in Abeta.  相似文献

The standard molar enthalpies of formation of chloro-, bromo-, and iodoacetic acids in the crystalline state, at 298.15 K, were determined as deltafH(o)m(C2H3O2Cl, cr alpha)=-(509.74+/- 0.49) kJ x mol(-1), deltafH(o)m(C2H3O2Br, cr I)-(466.98 +/- 1.08) kJ x mol(-1), and deltafH(o)m (C2H3O2I, cr)=-(415.44 +/- 1.53) kJ x mol(-1), respectively, by rotating-bomb combustion calorimetry. Vapor pressure versus temperature measurements by the Knudsen effusion method led to deltasubH(o)m(C2H3O2Cl)=(82.19 +/- 0.92) kJ x mol(-1), deltasubH(o)m(C2H3O2Br)=(83.50 +/- 2.95) kJ x mol(-1), and deltasubH(o)m-(C2H3O2I) = (86.47 +/- 1.02) kJ x mol(-1), at 298.15 K. From the obtained deltafH(o)m(cr) and deltasubH(o)m values it was possible to derive deltafH(o)m(C2H3O2Cl, g)=-(427.55 +/- 1.04) kJ x mol(-1), deltafH(o)m (C2H3O2Br, g)=-(383.48 +/- 3.14) kJ x mol(-1), and deltafH(o)m(C2H3O2I, g)=-(328.97 +/- 1.84) kJ x mol(-1). These data, taken with a published value of the enthalpy of formation of acetic acid, and the enthalpy of formation of the carboxymethyl radical, deltafH(o)m(CH2COOH, g)=-(238 +/- 2) kJ x mol(-1), obtained from density functional theory calculations, led to DHo(H-CH2COOH)=(412.8 +/- 3.2) kJ x mol(-1), DHo(Cl-CH2COOH)=(310.9 +/- 2.2) kJ x mol(-1), DHo(Br-CH2COOH)=(257.4 +/- 3.7) kJ x mol(-1), and DHo(I-CH2COOH)=(197.8 +/- 2.7) kJ x mol(-1). A discussion of the C-X bonding energetics in XCH2COOH, CH3X, C2H5X, C2H3X, and C6H5X (X=H, Cl, Br, I) compounds is presented.  相似文献

The laser flash photolysis resonance fluorescence technique was used to monitor atomic Cl kinetics. Loss of Cl following photolysis of CCl4 and NaCl was used to determine k(Cl + C6H6) = 6.4 x 10(-12) exp(-18.1 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 578-922 K and k(Cl + C6D6) = 6.2 x 10(-12) exp(-22.8 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 635-922 K. Inclusion of literature data at room temperature leads to a recommendation of k(Cl + C6H6) = 6.1 x 10(-11) exp(-31.6 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) for 296-922 K. Monitoring growth of Cl during the reaction of phenyl with HCl led to k(C6H5 + HCl) = 1.14 x 10(-12) exp(+5.2 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 294-748 K, k(C6H5 + DCl) = 7.7 x 10(-13) exp(+4.9 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 292-546 K, an approximate k(C6H5 + C6H5I) = 2 x 10(-11) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 300-750 K, and an upper limit k(Cl + C6H5I) < or = 5.3 x 10(-12) exp(+2.8 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 300-750 K. Confidence limits are discussed in the text. Third-law analysis of the equilibrium constant yields the bond dissociation enthalpy D(298)(C6H5-H) = 472.1 +/- 2.5 kJ mol(-1) and thus the enthalpy of formation Delta(f)H(298)(C6H5) = 337.0 +/- 2.5 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

The kinetics of the unusually fast reaction of cis- and trans-[Ru(terpy)(NH3)2Cl]2+ (with respect to NH3; terpy=2,2':6',2"-terpyridine) with NO was studied in acidic aqueous solution. The multistep reaction pathway observed for both isomers includes a rapid and reversible formation of an intermediate Ru(III)-NO complex in the first reaction step, for which the rate and activation parameters are in good agreement with an associative substitution behavior of the Ru(III) center (cis isomer, k1=618 +/- 2 M(-1) s(-1), DeltaH(++) = 38 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(++) = -63 +/- 8 J K(-1) mol(-1), DeltaV(++) = -17.5 +/- 0.8 cm3 mol(-1); k -1 = 0.097 +/- 0.001 s(-1), DeltaH(++) = 27 +/- 8 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(++) = -173 +/- 28 J K(-1) mol(-1), DeltaV(++) = -17.6 +/- 0.5 cm3 mol(-1); trans isomer, k1 = 1637 +/- 11 M(-1) s(-1), DeltaH(++) = 34 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(++) = -69 +/-11 J K(-1) mol(-1), DeltaV(++) = -20 +/- 2 cm3 mol(-1); k(-1)=0.47 +/- 0.08 s(-1), DeltaH(++)=39 +/- 5 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(++) = -121 +/-18 J K(-1) mol(-1), DeltaV(++) = -18.5 +/- 0.4 cm3 mol(-1) at 25 degrees C). The subsequent electron transfer step to form Ru(II)-NO+ occurs spontaneously for the trans isomer, followed by a slow nitrosyl to nitrite conversion, whereas for the cis isomer the reduction of the Ru(III) center is induced by the coordination of an additional NO molecule (cis isomer, k2=51.3 +/- 0.3 M(-1) s(-1), DeltaH(++) = 46 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(++) = -69 +/- 5 J K(-1) mol(-1), DeltaV(++) = -22.6 +/- 0.2 cm3 mol(-1) at 45 degrees C). The final reaction step involves a slow aquation process for both isomers, which is interpreted in terms of a dissociative substitution mechanism (cis isomer, DeltaV(++) = +23.5 +/- 1.2 cm3 mol(-1); trans isomer, DeltaV(++) = +20.9 +/- 0.4 cm3 mol(-1) at 55 degrees C) that produces two different reaction products, viz. [Ru(terpy)(NH3)(H2O)NO]3+ (product of the cis isomer) and trans-[Ru(terpy)(NH3)2(H2O)]2+. The pi-acceptor properties of the tridentate N-donor chelate (terpy) predominantly control the overall reaction pattern.  相似文献

The photoionization of alkylperoxy radicals has been investigated using a newly developed experimental apparatus that combines the tunability of the vacuum ultraviolet radiation of the Advanced Light Source at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory with time-resolved mass spectrometry. Methylperoxy (CH(3)OO) and ethylperoxy (C(2)H(5)OO) radicals are produced by the reaction of pulsed, photolytically produced alkyl radicals with molecular oxygen, and the mass spectrum of the reacting mixture is monitored in time by using synchrotron-photoionization with a double-focusing mass spectrometer. The kinetics of product formation is used to confirm the origins and assignments of ionized species. The photoionization efficiency curve for CH(3)OO has been measured, and an adiabatic ionization energy of (10.33 +/- 0.05) eV was determined with the aid of Franck-Condon spectral simulations, including ionization to the lowest triplet and singlet cation states. Using the appearance energy of CH(3)(+) from CH(3)OO, an enthalpy of formation for CH(3)OO of Delta(f) (CH(3)OO) = (22.4 +/- 5) kJ mol(-1) is derived. The enthalpy of formation of CH(3)OO(+) is derived as Delta(f) = (1019 +/- 7) kJ mol(-1) and the CH(3)(+)-OO bond energy as (CH(3)(+) - O(2)) = (80 +/- 7) kJ mol(-1). The C(2)H(5)OO(+) signal is not detectable; however, the time profile of the ethyl cation signal suggests its formation from dissociative ionization of C(2)H(5)OO. Electronic structure calculations suggest that hyperconjugation reduces the stability of the ethylperoxy cation, making the C(2)H(5)OO(+) ground state only slightly bound with respect to the ground-state products, C(2)H(5)(+) and O(2). The value of the measured appearance energy of C(2)H(5)(+) is consistent with dissociative ionization of C(2)H(5)OO via the Franck-Condon favored ionization to the ? (1)A' state of C(2)H(5)OO(+).  相似文献

The unimolecular dissociation reactions of the methylhydrazine (MH) and tetramethylhydrazine (TMH) radical cations have been investigated using tandem mass spectrometry and threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy in the photon energy ranges 9.60-31.95 eV (for the MH ion) and 7.74-29.94 eV (for the TMH ion). Methylhydrazine ions (CH3NHNH2(+*)) have three low-energy dissociation channels: hydrogen atom loss to form CH2NHNH2(+) (m/z 45), loss of a methyl radical to form NHNH2(+) (m/z 31), and loss of methane to form the fragment ion m/z 30, N2H2(+*). Tetramethylhydrazine ions only exhibit two dissociation reactions near threshold: that of methyl radical loss to form (CH3)2NNCH3(+) (m/z 73) and of methane loss to form the fragment ion m/z 72 with the empirical formula C3H8N2(+*). The experimental breakdown curves were modeled with Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus theory, and it was found that, particularly for methyl radical loss, variational transition state theory was needed to obtain satisfactory fits to the data. The 0 K enthalpies of formation (delta(f)H0) for all fragment ions (m/z 73, m/z 72, m/z 45, m/z 31, and m/z 30) have been determined from the 0 K activation energies (E0) obtained from the fitting procedure: delta(f)H0[(CH3)2NNCH3(+)] = 833 +/- 5 kJ mol(-1), delta(f)H0 [C3H8N2(+*)] = 1064 +/- 5 kJ mol(-1), delta(f)H0[CH2NHNH2(+)] = 862 +/- 5 kJ mol(-1), delta(f)H0[NHNH2(+)] = 959 +/- 5 kJ mol(-1), and delta(f)H0[N2H2(+*)] = 1155 +/- 5 kJ mol(-1). The breakdown curves have been measured from threshold up to h nu approximately 32 eV for both hydrazine ions. As the photon energy increases, other dissociation products are observed and their appearance energies are reported.  相似文献

The kinetics of the reactions of 1-and 2-butoxy radicals have been studied using a slow-flow photochemical reactor with GC-FID detection of reactants and products. Branching ratios between decomposition, CH3CH(O*)CH2CH3 --> CH3CHO + C2H5, reaction (7), and reaction with oxygen, CH3CH(O*)CH2CH3+ O2 --> CH3C(O)C2H5+ HO2, reaction (6), for the 2-butoxy radical and between isomerization, CH3CH2CH2CH2O* --> CH2CH2CH2CH2OH, reaction (9), and reaction with oxygen, CH3CH2CH2CH2O* + O2 --> C3H7CHO + HO2, reaction (8), for the 1-butoxy radical were measured as a function of oxygen concentration at atmospheric pressure over the temperature range 250-318 K. Evidence for the formation of a small fraction of chemically activated alkoxy radicals generated from the photolysis of alkyl nitrite precursors and from the exothermic reaction of 2-butyl peroxy radicals with NO was observed. The temperature dependence of the rate constant ratios for a thermalized system is given by k7/k6= 5.4 x 10(26) exp[(-47.4 +/- 2.8 kJ mol(-1))/RT] molecule cm(-3) and k9/k8= 1.98 x 10(23) exp[(-22.6 +/- 3.9 kJ mol(-1))/RT] molecule cm(-3). The results agree well with the available experimental literature data at ambient temperature but the temperature dependence of the rate constant ratios is weaker than in current recommendations.  相似文献

The m/z 44 appearance energies for five primary amines have been measured by threshold photoionization mass spectrometry. Following an analysis of the thermochemistry associated with these unimolecular fragmentations, a value of 665.1 +/- 1.4 kJ mol(-1) is obtained for the 298 K heat of formation for the ethylidenimmonium cation (CH(3)CH=NH(2)(+)). When combined with high-level ab initio calculations, this results in absolute proton affinities of 906.4 +/- 2.7 and 909.2 +/- 2.8 kJ mol(-1) for the ethylidenimines E-CH(3)CH=NH and Z-CH(3)CH=NH, respectively.  相似文献

A rotating-bomb combustion calorimeter specifically designed for the study of sulfur-containing compounds [J. Chem. Thermodyn. 1999, 31, 635] has been used for the determination of the enthalpy of formation of thiane sulfone, 4, Delta(f)H(o) m(g) = -394.8 +/- 1.5 kJ x mol(-1). This value stands in stark contrast with the enthalpy of formation reported for thiane itself, Delta(f)H(o) m(g) = -63.5 +/- 1.0 kJ x mol(-1), and gives evidence of the increased electronegativity of the sulfur atom in the sulfonyl group, which leads to significantly stronger C-SO2 bonds. Given the known enthalpy of formation of atomic oxygen in the gas phase, Delta(f)H(o) m(O,g) = +249.18 kJ x mol(-1), and the reported bond dissociation energy for the S=O bond in alkyl sulfones, BDE(S=O) = +470.0 kJ x mol(-1), it was possible to estimate the enthalpy of formation of thiane sulfoxide, 5, a hygroscopic compound not easy to use in experimental calorimetric measurements, Delta(f)H(o) m(5) = -174.0 kJ x mol(-1). The experimental enthalpy of formation of both 4 and 5 were closely reproduced by theoretical calculations at the G2(MP2)+ level, Delta(f)H(o) m(4) = -395.0 kJ x mol(-1) and Delta(f)H(o) m(5) = -178.0 kJ x mol(-1). Finally, calculated G2(MP2)+ values for the bond dissociation energy of the S=O bond in cyclic sulfoxide 5 and sulfone 4 are +363.7 and +466.2 kJ x mol(-1), respectively.  相似文献

Applying a modified "high accuracy extrapolated ab initio thermochemistry" (HEAT) scheme, the standard heat of formation of vinyl chloride at 0 K is computed to be 29.79 +/- 1 kJ/mol and at 298.15 K to be 20.9 +/- 2 kJ/mol, thus resolving earlier discrepancies among the available experimental values, which span a range from 21 up to 38 kJ/mol. The enthalpies of the reactions C2H4 + Cl2 --> CH2CHCl + HCl and C2H2 + HCl --> CH2CHCl at 298.15 K are determined to be -123.0 and -113.9 +/- 2 kJ/mol, respectively.  相似文献

The sequential ethene (C2H4) loss channels of energy-selected ethylphosphine ions have been studied using threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence (TPEPICO) spectroscopy in which ion time-of-flight (TOF) distributions are recorded as a function of the photon energy. The ion TOF distributions and breakdown diagrams have been modeled in terms of the statistical RRKM theory for unimolecular reactions, providing 0 K dissociation onsets, E0, for the ethene loss channels. Three RRKM curves were used to model the five measurements, since two of the reactions differ only by the internal energy of the parent ion. This series of dissociations provides a detailed check of the calculation of the product energy distribution for sequential reactions. From the determined E0's, the heats of formation of several ethylphosphine neutrals and ions have been determined: Delta(f)H degrees 298K[P(C(2)H(5))3] = -152.7 +/- 2.8 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[P(C(2)H(5))3+] = 571.6 +/- 4.0 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[HP(C(2)H(5))2] = -89.6 +/- 2.1 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[HP(C(2)H(5))2+] = 669.9 +/- 2.5 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[H(2)PC(2)H(5)] = -36.5 +/- 1.5 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[H(2)PC(2)H(5)+] = 784.0 +/- 1.9 kJ/mol. These values have been supported by G2 and G3 calculations using isodesmic reactions. Coupled cluster calculations have been used to show that the C2H4 loss channel, which involves a hydrogen transfer step, proceeds without a reverse energy barrier.  相似文献

The valence shell photoelectron spectrum, threshold photoelectron spectrum, and threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence (TPEPICO) mass spectra of acetone have been measured using synchrotron radiation. New vibrational progressions have been observed and assigned in the X 2B2 state photoelectron bands of acetone-h6 and acetone-d6, and the influence of resonant autoionization on the threshold electron yield has been investigated. The dissociation thresholds for fragment ions up to 31 eV have been measured and compared to previous values. In addition, kinetic modeling of the threshold region for CH3* and CH4 loss leads to new values of 78 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1) and 75 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1), respectively, for the 0 K activation energies for these two processes. The result for the methyl loss channel is in reasonable agreement with, but slightly lower than, that of 83 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1) derived in a recent TPEPICO study by Fogleman et al. The modeling accounts for both low-energy dissociation channels at two different ion residence times in the mass spectrometer. Moreover, the effects of the ro-vibrational population distribution, the electron transmission efficiency, and the monochromator band-pass are included. The present activation energies yield a Delta(f)H298 for CH3CO+ of 655 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1), which is 4 kJ mol(-1) lower than that reported by Fogleman et al. The present Delta(f)H298 for CH3CO+ can be combined with the Delta(f)H298 for CH2CO (-47.5 +/- 1.6 kJ mol(-1)) and H+ (1530 kJ mol(-1)) to yield a 298 K proton affinity for ketene of 828 +/- 4 kJ mol(-1), in good agreement with the value (825 kJ mol(-1)) calculated at the G2 level of theory. The measured activation energy for CH4 loss leads to a Delta(f)H298 (CH2CO+*) of 873 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

The bond dissociation energies (BDEs) and radical stabilization energies (RSEs) which result from 166 reactions that lead to carbon-centered radicals of the type ˙CH(2)X, ˙CHXY and ˙CXYZ, where X, Y and Z are any of the fourteen substituents H, F, Cl, NH(2), OH, SH, CH[double bond, length as m-dash]CH(2), C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CH, BH(2), CHO, COOH, CN, CH(3), and CF(3), were calculated using spin-restricted and -unrestricted variants of the double-hybrid B2-PLYP method with the 6-311+G(3df,2p) basis set. The interactions of substituents X, Y, and Z in both the radicals (˙CXYZ) and in the precursor closed-shell molecules (CHXYZ), as well as the extent of additivity of such interactions, were investigated by calculating radical interaction energies (RIEs), molecule interaction energies (MIEs), and deviations from additivity of RSEs (DARSEs) for a set of 152 reactions that lead to di- (˙CHXY) and tri- (˙CXYZ) substituted carbon-centered radicals. The pairwise quantities describing the effects of pairs of substituents in trisubstituted systems, namely pairwise MIEs (PMIEs), pairwise RIEs (PRIEs) and deviations from pairwise additivity of RSEs (DPARSEs), were also calculated for the set of 61 reactions that lead to trisubstituted radicals (˙CXYZ). Both ROB2-PLYP and UB2-PLYP were found to perform quite well in predicting the quantities related to the stabilities of carbon-centered radicals when compared with available experimental data and with the results obtained from the high-level composite method G3X(MP2)-RAD. Particular selections of substituents or combinations of substituents from the current test set were found to lead to specially stable radicals, increasing the RSEs to a maximum of +68.2 kJ mol(-1) for monosubstituted radicals ˙CH(2)X (X = CH[double bond, length as m-dash]CH(2)), +131.7 kJ mol(-1) for disubstituted radicals ˙CHXY (X = NH(2), Y = CHO), and +177.1 kJ mol(-1) for trisubstituted radicals ˙CXYZ (X = NH2, Y = Z = CHO).  相似文献

Energy-resolved, competitive threshold collision-induced dissociation (TCID) methods are used to measure the gas-phase acidities of phenol, 3-methylphenol, 2,4,6-trimethylphenol, and ethanoic acid relative to hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen sulfide, and the hydroperoxyl radical using guided ion beam tandem mass spectrometry. The gas-phase acidities of Delta(acid)H298(C6H5OH) = 1456 +/- 4 kJ/mol, Delta(acid)H298(3-CH3C6H4OH) = 1457 +/- 5 kJ/mol, Delta(acid)H298(2,4,6-(CH3)3C6H2OH) = 1456 +/- 4 kJ/mol, and Delta(acid)H298(CH3COOH) = 1457 +/- 6 kJ/mol are determined. The O-H bond dissociation enthalpy of D298(C6H5O-H) = 361 +/- 4 kJ/mol is derived using the previously published experimental electron affinity for C6H5O, and thermochemical values for the other species are reported. A comparison of the new TCID values with both experimental and theoretical values from the literature is presented.  相似文献

The kinetics of redox reactions of the PtIV complexes trans-Pt(d,l)(1,2-(NH2)2C6H10)Cl4 ([PtIVCl4(dach)]) and Pt(NH2CH2CH2NH2)Cl4 ([PtIVCl4(en)]) with 5'- and 3'-dGMP (G) have been studied. These redox reactions involve substitution followed by an inner-sphere electron transfer. The substitution is catalyzed by PtII and follows the classic Basolo-Pearson PtII-catalyzed PtIV-substitution mechanism. We found that the substitutution rates depend on the steric hindrance of PtII, G, and PtIV with the least sterically hindered PtII complex catalyzing at the highest rate. 3'-dGMP undergoes substitution faster than 5'-dGMP, and [PtIVCl4(en)] substitutes faster than [PtIVCl4(dach)]. The enthalpies of activation of the substitution, DeltaH double dagger s, of 3'-dGMP is only 70% greater than that of 5'-dGMP (50.4 vs 30.7 kJ mol(-1)), but the entropy of activation of the substitution, DeltaS double dagger s, of 3'-dGMP is much greater than that of 5'-dGMP (-59.4 vs -129.5 J K(-1) mol(-1)), indicating that steric hindrance plays a major role in the substitution. The enthalpy of activation of electron transfer, DeltaH double dagger e, of 3'-dGMP is smaller than that of 5'-dGMP (88.8 vs 137.8 kJ mol(-1)). The entropy of activation of electron transfer, DeltaS double dagger e, of 3'-dGMP is negative, but that of 5'-dGMP is positive (-27.8 vs +128.8 J K-1 mol-1). The results indicate that 5'-hydroxo has less rotational barrier than 5'-phosphate, but it is geometrically unfavorable for internal electron transfer. The electron-transfer rate also depends on the reduction potential of PtIV. Because of its higher reduction potential, [PtIVCl4(dach)] has a faster electron transfer than [PtIVCl4(en)].  相似文献
