Significant efforts have been made to develop high‐efficiency organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) employing thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters with blue, green, yellow, and orange–red colors. However, efficient TADF materials with colors ranging from red, to deep‐red, to near‐infrared (NIR) have been rarely reported owing to the difficulty in molecular design. Herein, we report the first NIR TADF molecule TPA‐DCPP (TPA=triphenylamine; DCPP=2,3‐dicyanopyrazino phenanthrene) which has a small singlet–triplet splitting (ΔEST) of 0.13 eV. Its nondoped OLED device exhibits a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 2.1 % with a Commission International de L′Éclairage (CIE) coordinate of (0.70, 0.29). Moreover, an extremely high EQE of nearly 10 % with an emission band at λ=668 nm has been achieved in the doped device, which is comparable to the most‐efficient deep‐red/NIR phosphorescent OLEDs with similar electroluminescent spectra.  相似文献

Blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters that can simultaneously achieve high efficiency in doped and nondoped organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) are rarely reported. Reported here is a strategy using a tri‐spiral donor for such versatile blue TADF emitters. Impressively, by simply extending the nonconjugated fragment and molecular length, aggregation‐caused emission quenching (ACQ) can be greatly alleviated to achieve as high as a 90 % horizontal orientation dipole ratio and external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of up to 33.3 % in doped and 20.0 % in nondoped sky‐blue TADF‐OLEDs. More fascinatingly, a high‐efficiency purely organic white OLED with an outstanding EQE of up to 22.8 % was also achieved by employing TspiroS‐TRZ as a blue emitter and an assistant host. This compound is the first blue TADF emitter that can simultaneously achieve high electroluminescence (EL) efficiency in doped, nondoped sky‐blue, and white TADF‐OLEDs.  相似文献

Thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) emitters are usually designed as donor–acceptor structures with large dihedral angles, which tend to incur low fluorescent efficiency, and therefore, through molecular design various strategies have been proposed to increase the efficiency of emitters; however, few studies have compared these strategies in one TADF system. In this study, a novel TADF molecule, [4‐(9,9‐diphenylacridin‐10‐yl)phenyl](phenyl)methanone ( BP‐DPAC ), was designed as a prototype, and two derivatives, BP‐Ph‐DPAC and DPAC‐BP‐DPAC , were also prepared to represent two common approaches to enhance TADF performance. Compared with the maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 6.82 % for BP‐DPAC , organic light‐emitting diodes (OLED) devices based on DPAC‐BP‐DPAC exhibited enhanced TADF properties with the highest maximum EQE of 18.67 %, owing to an additional diphenylacridine donor, whereas BP‐Ph‐DPAC showed non‐TADF properties and exhibited the lowest EQE of 4.25 %, owing to the insertion of a phenyl ring between donor and acceptor.  相似文献

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF)‐based organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) have attracted enormous attention recently due to their capability to replace conventional phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes for practical applications. In this work, a newly designed CN‐substituted imidazopyrazine moiety was utilized as an electron‐accepting unit in a TADF emitter. Two TADF emitters, 8‐(3‐cyano‐4‐(9,9‐dimethylacridin‐10(9H)‐yl)phenyl)‐2‐phenylimidazo[1,2‐a]pyrazine‐3‐carbonitrile (Ac‐CNImPyr) and 8‐(3‐cyano‐4‐(10H‐phenoxazin‐10‐yl)phenyl)‐2‐phenylimidazo[1,2‐a]pyrazine‐3‐carbonitrile (PXZ‐CNImPyr), were developed based on the CN‐substituted imidazopyrazine acceptor combined with acridine and phenoxazine donor, respectively. A CN‐substituted phenyl spacer was introduced between the donor and acceptor for a sufficiently small singlet‐triplet energy gap (ΔEST) and molecular orbital management. Small ΔEST of 0.07 eV was achieved for the phenoxazine donor‐based PXZ‐CNImPyr emitter. As a result, an organic light‐emitting diode based on the PXZ‐CNImPyr emitter exhibited a high external quantum efficiency of up to 12.7 %, which surpassed the EQE limit of common fluorescent emitters. Hence, the CN‐modified imidazopyrazine unit can be introduced as a new acceptor for further modifications to develop efficient TADF‐based OLEDs.  相似文献

A new multi‐functional penta‐carbazole/benzophenone hybrid compound 5CzBP was designed and synthesized through a simple one‐step catalyst‐free C—N coupling reaction by using 2,3,4,5,6‐pentafluorobenzophenone and carbazole as starting materials. 5CzBP is very soluble in tetrahydrofuran (THF), which brings an environmentally friendly device fabrication for solution‐processed OLEDs instead of most widely used chlorinated solvents when 5CzBP is employed as the bulk‐phase of organic host or non‐doped emitter in the emissive layer. 5CzBP exhibits thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) characteristic with relatively high triplet energy of 2.60 eV and a low ΔEST of 0.01 eV. By using the new TADF material as organic host for another green TADF emitter, maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 12.5% has been achieved in simple solution‐processed OLED device. Besides, a maximum EQE of 8.9% and 5.7% was further obtained in TADF devices based on 5CzBP as dopant and non‐doped emitter, respectively. The simultaneously acting as efficient TADF host and non‐doped TADF emitter provides the potential guidance of the future simple single‐layer two‐color white OLEDs based on low‐cost pure organic TADF materials.  相似文献

The development of near‐infrared (NIR) organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) is of growing interest. Donor–acceptor (D–A) chromophores have served as an important class of NIR materials for NIR OLED applications. However, the external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of NIR OLEDs based on conventional D–A chromophores are typically below 1 %. Reported herein is a butterfly‐shaped D–A compound, PTZ‐BZP. A PTZ‐BZP film displayed strong NIR fluorescence with an emission peak at 700 nm, and the corresponding quantum efficiency reached 16 %. Remarkably, the EQE of the NIR OLED based on PTZ‐BZP was 1.54 %, and a low efficiency roll‐off was observed, as well as a high radiative exciton ratio of 48 %, which breaks through the limit of 25 % in conventional fluorescent OLEDs. Experimental and theoretical investigations were carried out to understand the excited‐state properties of PTZ‐BZP.  相似文献

Recently, researchers have focused on thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) for efficient future lighting and displays. Among TADF emitters, a combination of triazine and acridine is a promising candidate for realizing high-efficiency organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). However, simultaneous development of perfect horizontal orientation (Θ=100 %) and an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of over 40 % is still challenging. Here, to obtain insights for further improvements of a triazine/acridine combination, various asymmetric spirobiacridine (SBA)-based TADF emitters with a unity photoluminescence quantum yield and high Θ ratio of over 80 % were developed. Furthermore, the substitution effects of the triazine acceptor unit on the photophysical properties were studied, including molecular orientations and OLED performance. The corresponding OLED exhibited sky-blue emission with a high EQE of over 30 %.  相似文献

The development of efficient metal‐free organic emitters with thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) properties for deep‐blue emission is still challenging. A new family of deep‐blue TADF emitters based on a donor–acceptor architecture has been developed. The electronic interaction between donor and acceptor plays a key role in the TADF mechanism. Deep‐blue OLEDs fabricated with these TADF emitters achieved high external quantum efficiencies over 19.2 % with CIE coordinates of (0.148, 0.098).  相似文献

Deep‐blue fluorescent emitters with Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) y≤0.06 are urgently needed for high‐density storage, full‐color displays and solid‐state lighting. However, developing such emitters with high color purity and efficiency in solution‐processable non‐doped organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) remains an important challenge. Here, we present the synthesis of two new deep‐blue fluorescent emitters ( AFpTPI and AFmTPI ) based on 10‐(9,9‐diethyl‐9H‐fluoren‐2‐yl)‐9,9‐dimethyl‐9,10‐dihydroacridine as a core and 1,3‐ and/or 1,4‐phenylene‐linked triphenylimidazole (TPI) analogues for non‐doped solution‐processable OLEDs. Their thermal, photophysical, electrochemical, and device characteristics are explored, and also strongly supported by density functional theory (DFT) study. AFpTPI and AFmTPI exhibit excellent thermal stability (≈450 °C) with high glass transition temperatures (Tg; 141–152 °C) and deep‐blue emission with high quantum yields. Specifically, the solution‐processed non‐doped device with AFpTPI as an emitter exhibits a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 4.56 % with CIE coordinates of (0.15, 0.06), which exactly matches the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) blue standard. In addition, AFmTPI also displays good efficiency and better color purity (EQE: 3.37 %; CIE (0.15, 0.05)). To the best of our knowledge, the present work is the first report on non‐doped solution‐processable OLEDs with efficiency close to 5 % and CIE y≤0.06.  相似文献

A new family of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters based on U‐shaped D‐A‐D architecture with a novel accepting unit has been developed. All investigated compounds have small singlet‐triplet energy splitting (ΔEST) ranging from 0.02 to 0.20 eV and showed efficient TADF properties. The lowest triplet state of the acceptor unit plays the key role in the TADF mechanism. OLEDs fabricated with these TADF emitters achieved excellent efficiencies up to 16 % external quantum efficiency (EQE).  相似文献

A novel molecular model of connecting electron‐donating (D) and electron‐withdrawing (A) moieties via a space‐enough and conjugation‐forbidden linkage (D‐Spacer‐A) is proposed to develop efficient non‐doped thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters. 10‐(4‐(4‐(4,6‐diphenyl‐1,3,5‐triazin‐2‐yl) phenoxy) phenyl)‐9,9‐dimethyl‐9,10‐dihydroacridine (DMAC‐o‐TRZ) was designed and synthesized accordingly. As expected, it exhibits local excited properties in single‐molecule state as D‐Spacer‐A molecular backbone strongly suppress the intramolecular charge‐transfer (CT) transition. And intermolecular CT transition acted as the vital radiation channel for neat DMAC‐o‐TRZ film. As in return, the non‐doped device exhibits a remarkable maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 14.7 %. These results prove the feasibility of D‐Spacer‐A molecules to develop intermolecular CT transition TADF emitters for efficient non‐doped OLEDs.  相似文献

A series of green butterfly‐shaped thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters, namely PXZPM , PXZMePM , and PXZPhPM , are developed by integrating an electron‐donor (D) phenoxazine unit and electron‐acceptor (A) 2‐substituted pyrimidine moiety into one molecule via a phenyl‐bridge π linkage to form a D –π–A–π–D configuration. Changing the substituent at pyrimidine unit in these emitters can finely tune their emissive characteristics, thermal properties, and energy gaps between the singlet and triplet states while maintaining frontier molecular orbital levels, and thereby optimizing their optoelectronic properties. Employing these TADF emitters results in a green fluorescent organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) that exhibits a peak forward‐viewing external quantum efficiency (EQE) close to 25 % and a slow efficiency roll‐off characteristic at high luminance.  相似文献

The design and synthesis of highly efficient deep red (DR) and near‐infrared (NIR) organic emitting materials with characteristic of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) still remains a great challenge. A strategy was developed to construct TADF organic solid films with strong DR or NIR emission feature. The triphenylamine (TPA) and quinoxaline‐6,7‐dicarbonitrile (QCN) were employed as electron donor (D) and acceptor (A), respectively, to synthesize a TADF compound, TPA‐QCN. The TPA‐QCN molecule with orange‐red emission in solution was employed as a dopant to prepare DR and NIR luminescent solid thin films. The high doped concentration and neat films exhibited efficient DR and NIR emissions, respectively. The highly efficient DR and NIR organic light‐emitting devices (OLEDs) were fabricated by regulating TPA‐QCN dopant concentration in the emitting layers.  相似文献

Despite the success of thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) materials in steering the next generation of organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs), effective near infrared (NIR) TADF emitters are still very rare. Here, we present a simple and extremely high electron‐deficient compound, 5,6‐dicyano[2,1,3]benzothiadiazole (CNBz), as a strong electron‐accepting unit to develop a sufficiently strong donor‐acceptor (D?A) interaction for NIR emission. End‐capping with the electron‐donating triphenylamine (TPA) unit created an effective D?A?D type system, giving rise to an efficient NIR TADF emissive molecule (λem=750 nm) with a very small ΔEST of 0.06 eV. The electroluminescent device using this NIR TADF emitter exhibited an excellent performance with a high maximum radiance of 10020 mW Sr?1 m?2, a maximum EQE of 6.57% and a peak wavelength of 712 nm.  相似文献

Recently, thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials have received increasing attention as effective emitters for organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, most of them are usually employed as dopants in a host material. In this report, carbazole dendrimers with a triphenyl‐s‐triazine core are reported, which are the first solution‐processable, non‐doped, high‐molecular‐weight TADF materials. The dendrimers were obtained by a new and facile synthetic route using the tert‐butyldimethylsilyl moiety as a protecting group. All dendrimers showed TADF in toluene. Measurements of the temperature‐dependent luminescence lifetime revealed that spin‐coated neat films also showed TADF with moderate quantum yields. OLED devices incorporating these dendrimers as spin‐coated emitting layers gave external quantum efficiencies of up to a 3.4 %, which suggests that this device is harvesting triplet excitons. This result indicates that carbazole dendrimers with attached acceptors are potential TADF materials owing to their polarized electronic structure (with HOMO–LUMO separation).  相似文献

Pure organic molecules based thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters have been successfully developed in recent years for their propitious application in highly efficient organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). In the case of orange red emitters, the non-radiative process is known to be a serious issue due to its lower lying singlet energy level. However, recent studies indicate that there are tremendous efforts put to develop efficient orange red TADF emitters. In addition, the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of heteroaromatic based orange red TADF OLEDs surpassed 30 %. Such heteroaromatic type emitters showed wide emission spectra; therefore, more attention is being paid to develop highly efficient orange red TADF emitters along with good color purity. Herein, the recent progress of orange red TADF emitters based on molecular structures, such as cyanobenzene, heteroaromatic, naphthalimide, and boron-based acceptors, are reviewed. Further, our insight on these acceptors has been provided by their photophysical studies and device performances. Future perspectives of orange red TADF emitters for real practical applications are discussed.  相似文献

Doubly boron-doped thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters based on a 9,10-diboraanthracene (DBA) acceptor decorated with ortho-donor groups (Cz2oDBA, 2 ; BuCz2oDBA, 3 ; DMAC2oDBA, 4 ) are prepared to realize high-efficiency green-to-red organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). X-ray diffraction analyses of 2 and 4 reveal the symmetrical and highly twisted ortho-donor–acceptor–donor (D-A-D) structure of the emitters. The twisted conformation leads to a very small energy splitting (ΔEST <0.08 eV) between the excited singlet and triplet states that gives rise to strong TADF, as supported by theoretical studies. Depending on the strength of the donor moieties, the emission color is fine-tuned in the visible region from green ( 2 ) to yellow ( 3 ) to red ( 4 ). Carbazole-containing 2 and 3 exhibit high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) approaching 100 %, whereas DMAC-substituted 4 is moderately emissive (PLQY=44 %) in a doped host film. Highly efficient green-to-red TADF-OLEDs are realized with the proposed ortho-D-A-D compounds as emitters. The green and yellow OLEDs incorporating Cz2oDBA ( 2 ) and BuCz2oDBA ( 3 ) emitters exhibit high external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of 26.6 % and 21.6 %, respectively. In particular, the green device shows an excellent power efficiency above 100 lm W−1. A red OLED fabricated with a DMAC2oDBA ( 4 ) emitter exhibits a maximum EQE of 10.1 % with an electroluminescence peak at 615 nm.  相似文献

Since their first demonstration, thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials have been emerged as the most promising emitters because of their promising applications in optoelectronics, typified by organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). In which, the rigid oxygen bridged boron acceptor-featured ( DOBNA ) emitters have gained tremendous impetus for OLEDs, which is ascribed to their excellent external quantum efficiency (EQE). However, these materials often displayed severe efficiency roll-off and poor operational stability. Therefore, there needs to be a comprehensive understanding of the aspect of the molecular design and structure-property relationship. To the best of our knowledge, there is no detailed review on the structure-function outlook of DOBNA -based emitters emphasizing the effect of the nature of donor units, their number density, and substitution pattern on the physicochemical properties, excited state dynamics and OLED performance were reported. To fill this gap, herein we presented the recent advancements in DOBNA -based acceptor featured TADF materials by classifying them into several subgroups based on the molecular design i. e. donor-acceptor (D−A), D−A-D, A−D-A, and multi-resonant TADF (MR-TADF) emitters. The detailed design concepts, along with their respective physicochemical and OLED performances were summarized. Finally, the prospective of this class of materials in forthcoming OLED displays is also discussed.  相似文献

The establishment of a simple molecular design strategy to realize red-shifted emission while maintaining good color purity for multi-resonance induced thermally activated delayed fluorescent (MR-TADF) materials remains an appealing yet challenging task. Herein, we demonstrate that the attachment of a cyano (CN) functionality at the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital location of the MR-TADF skeleton can promote attractive red-shifted emission due to the exceptional electron-withdrawing capacity of the CN group, which represents the first example of orange–red MR-TADF emitters. Meanwhile, the linear CN group adopts a coplanar conformation with the MR-framework to restrict structure relaxation associated with rotation, which is beneficial to maintain a small full-width at half-maximum and thus a good color purity. The CNCz-BNCz-based OLED device, which utilizes a TADF sensitized mechanism to accelerate the up-conversion process of triplet excitons in the emitting layer, exhibits an outstanding external quantum efficiency (EQE) as high as 33.7%, representing the state-of-the-art performance for orange–red TADF-OLEDs.

The first example of narrowband orange–red MR-TADF emitters has been developed, which realizes a record-high EQE of 33.7% in OLEDs.  相似文献
