A novel class of 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7-tris(methylenecarboxylic) acid (DO3A)-based lanthanide complexes with relaxometric response to Ca(2+) was synthesized, and their physicochemical properties were investigated. Four macrocyclic ligands containing an alkyl-aminobis(methylenephosphonate) side chain for Ca(2+)-chelation have been studied (alkyl is propyl, butyl, pentyl, and hexyl for L(1), L(2), L(3), and L(4), respectively). Upon addition of Ca(2+), the r(1) relaxivity of their Gd(3+) complexes decreased up to 61% of the initial value for the best compounds GdL(3) and GdL(4). The relaxivity of the complexes was concentration dependent (it decreases with increasing concentration). Diffusion NMR studies on the Y(3+) analogues evidenced the formation of agglomerates at higher concentrations; the aggregation becomes even more important in the presence of Ca(2+). (31)P NMR experiments on EuL(1) and EuL(4) indicated the coordination of a phosphonate to the Ln(3+) for the ligand with a propyl chain, while phosphonate coordination was not observed for the analogue bearing a hexyl linker. Potentiometric titrations yielded protonation constants of the Gd(3+) complexes. log K(H1) values for all complexes lie between 6.12 and 7.11 whereas log K(H2) values are between 4.61 and 5.87. Luminescence emission spectra recorded on the Eu(3+) complexes confirmed the coordination of a phosphonate group to the Ln(3+) center in EuL(1). Luminescence lifetime measurements showed that Ca-induced agglomeration reduces the hydration number which is the main cause for the change in r(1). Variable temperature (17)O NMR experiments evidenced high water exchange rates on GdL(1), GdL(2), and GdL(3) comparable to that of the aqua ion.  相似文献

The rotation of the carboxylate groups in DOTA (DOTA = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetate) complexes of several lanthanide ions and Sc(3+) was investigated with density functional theory (DFT) calculations and with variable temperature (17)O NMR studies at 4.7-18.8 T. The data obtained show that the rotation is much slower than the other dynamic processes taking place in these complexes. The exchange between the bound and unbound carboxylate oxygen atoms for the largest Ln(3+) ions (La(3+)→Sm(3+)) follows a pathway via a transition state in which both oxygens of the carboxylate group are bound to the Ln(3+) ion, whereas for the smaller metal ions (Tm(3+), Lu(3+), Sc(3+)) the transition state has a fully decoordinated carboxylate group. The activation free energies show a steady increase from about 75 to 125-135 kJ·mol(-1) going from La(3+) to Lu(3+). This computed trend is consistent with the results of the (17)O NMR measurements. Fast exchange between bound and unbound carboxylate oxygen atoms was observed for the diamagnetic La-DOTA, whereas for Pr-, Sm-, Lu-, and Sc-DOTA the exchange was slow on the NMR time scale. The trends in the linewidths for the various metal ions as a function of the temperature agree with trends in the rates as predicted by the DFT calculations.  相似文献

A new potentially multidentate hexaprotic ligand H(6)[TETA-(PO)(2)] has been prepared by reaction of ethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic acid (EDDA), paraformaldehyde, and phosphinic acid; its coordination properties with three lanthanide ions (La(3+), Gd(3+), and Lu(3+)) have been explored. The structures of the complexes were studied in aqueous solution by potentiometric pH titrations and by (31)P NMR spectroscopy. Four acidity constants were determined potentiometrically in the range 2.5 < pH < 14. The four measured pK(a) values can be divided into two groups, and within each group the initial deprotonation was found to have little effect on the second. Variable temperature (31)P and (31)P[(1)H] EXSY NMR spectra showed that, for [Lu(TETA-(PO)(2))](3-), the two phosphorus atoms exist in different chemical environments and undergo an exchange process which is very fast on the NMR time scale at room temperature. This result is consistent with one of the phosphinate residues coordinating the metal ion and exchanging with a free analogue. In the case of [La(TETA-(PO)(2))](3-), only one temperature invariant signal is observed in (31)P NMR spectra; it corresponds to both phosphinate residues remaining uncoordinated to La(3+). The stability of [Ln(TETA-(PO)(2))](3-) has an order of La(3+) > Gd(3+) > Lu(3+). The coordination of one phosphinate residue to Lu(3+) brings the metal ion closer to the plane of four nitrogens and farther from the four carboxylate arms, resulting in [Lu(TETA-(PO)(2))](3-) having a lower stability than the corresponding La(3+) and Gd(3+) complexes. A pM-pH distribution diagram showed that introducing two phosphinate groups into TETA renders [Gd(TETA-(PO)(2))](3-) more stable than [Gd(TETA)](-). The selectivity factor of the ligand for Gd(3+) vs Ca(2+), Zn(2+), and Cu(2+) has been calculated, and the hydration number for [Dy(TETA-(PO)(2))](3-) has been measured by (17)O NMR spectroscopy to be zero.  相似文献

A new potentially hexadentate tetraazamacrocycle based on the cyclen skeleton has been synthesized and fully characterized. The macrocycle 4,10-dimethyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,7-bis(methanephosphonic acid monoethyl ester) dipotassium salt (Me2DO2PME) contains mutually trans monoethyl ester phosphonate acid substituents on two nitrogen atoms, and trans methyl substituents on the other two nitrogen atoms. The protonation constants of this macrocycle and the stability constants of its complexes with Cu2+, Zn2+, Gd3+ and Ca2+ ions have been determined by pH potentiometric titrations. The protonation sequence of the macrocycle has been studied by 1H, 31P[1H] and 13C[1H] NMR spectroscopy: the first and second protonation steps take place at the methyl-substituted nitrogen atoms, while the third protonation involves one oxygen from a phosphonate group. Upon protonation, all the CH2 ring protons become magnetically inequivalent on the NMR time scale due to a slow conformational rearrangement, most likely occasioned by the formation of multiple hydrogen bonds within the macrocyclic ring. Me2DOPM forms neutral, mononuclear complexes with all the metals investigated. The presence of hydroxo complexes was observed for Ca2+ and Zn2+ at high pH values. Structural information on the neutral complex [Cu(Me2DO2PME)] has been obtained by a solution X-Band EPR study. It is proposed that Me2DO2PME binds Cu2+ in a distorted octahedral structure using all of its donor atoms, i.e. the four nitrogen atoms and the two phosphonate oxygen atoms. The redox chemistry of [Cu(Me2DO2PME)] in dimethyl sulfoxide and water has been studied by electrochemical measurements. Cyclic voltammetry in DMSO shows the complex to undergo a quasireversible one-electron reduction step leading to an unstable CuI species.  相似文献

The thermodynamic, kinetic, and structural properties of Ln3+ complexes with the bifunctional DO3A-ACE4− ligand and its amide derivative DO3A-BACE4− (modelling the case where DO3A-ACE4− ligand binds to vector molecules) have been studied in order to confirm the usefulness of the corresponding Gd3+ complexes as relaxation labels of targeted MRI contrast agents. The stability constants of the Mg2+ and Ca2+ complexes of DO3A-ACE4− and DO3A-BACE4− complexes are lower than for DOTA4− and DO3A3−, while the Zn2+ and Cu2+ complexes have similar and higher stability than for DOTA4− and DO3A3− complexes. The stability constants of the Ln(DO3A-BACE) complexes increase from Ce3+ to Gd3+ but remain practically constant for the late Ln3+ ions (represented by Yb3+). The stability constants of the Ln(DO3A-ACE)4− and Ln(DO3A-BACE)4− complexes are several orders of magnitude lower than those of the corresponding DOTA4− and DO3A3− complexes. The formation rate of Eu(DO3A-ACE) is one order of magnitude slower than for Eu(DOTA), due to the presence of the protonated amine group, which destabilizes the protonated intermediate complex. This protonated group causes the Ln(DO3A-ACE) complexes to dissociate several orders of magnitude faster than Ln(DOTA) and its absence in the Ln(DO3A-BACE) complexes results in inertness similar to Ln(DOTA) (as judged by the rate constants of acid assisted dissociation). The 1H NMR spectra of the diamagnetic Y(DO3A-ACE) and Y(DO3A-BACE) reflect the slow dynamics at low temperatures of the intramolecular isomerization process between the SA pair of enantiomers, R-Λ(λλλλ) and S-Δ(δδδδ). The conformation of the Cα-substituted pendant arm is different in the two complexes, where the bulky substituent is further away from the macrocyclic ring in Y(DO3A-BACE) than the amino group in Y(DO3A-ACE) to minimize steric hindrance. The temperature dependence of the spectra reflects slower ring motions than pendant arms rearrangements in both complexes. Although losing some thermodynamic stability relative to Gd(DOTA), Gd(DO3A-BACE) is still quite inert, indicating the usefulness of the bifunctional DO3A-ACE4− in the design of GBCAs and Ln3+-based tags for protein structural NMR analysis.  相似文献

The tripodal amino-phosphinate ligands, tris(4-(phenylphosphinato)-3-benzyl-3-azabutyl)amine (H(3)ppba.2HCl.H(2)O) and tris(4-(phenylphosphinato)-3-azabutyl)amine (H(3)ppa.HCl.H(2)O) were synthesized and reacted with Al(3+), Ga(3+), In(3+) and the lanthanides (Ln(3+)). At 2 : 1 H(3)ppba to metal ratios, complexes of the type [M(H(3)ppba)(2)](3+)(M = Al(3+), Ga(3+), In(3+), Ho(3+)-Lu(3+)) were isolated. The bicapped [Ga(H(3)ppba)(2)](NO(3))(2)Cl.3CH(3)OH was structurally characterized and was shown indirectly by various techniques to be isostructural with the other [M(H(3)ppba)(2)](3+) complexes. Also, at 2 : 1 H(3)ppba to metal ratios, complexes of the type [M(H(4)ppba)(2)](5+)(M = La(3+)-Tb(3+)) were characterized, and the X-ray structure of [Gd(H(4)ppba)(2)](NO(3))(4)Cl.3CH(3)OH was determined. At 1 : 1 H(3)ppba to metal ratios, complexes of the type [M(H(4)ppba)](4+)(M = La(3+)-Er(3+)) were isolated and characterized. Elemental analysis and spectroscopic evidence supported the formation of a 1 : 1 monocapped complex. Reaction of 1 : 1 ratios of H(3)ppa with Ln(3+) and In(3+) yielded complexes of the type [M(H(3)ppa)](3+)(M = La(3+)-Yb(3+)) but with Ga(3+), complex of the type [Ga(ppa)].3H(2)O was obtained. Reaction of 1 : 1 ratios of H(3)ppa with Ln(3+) and In(3+) yielded complexes of the type [M(H(3)ppa)](3+)(M = La(3+)-Yb(3+)) but with Ga(3+) a neutral complex [Ga(ppa)].3H(2)O was obtained. The formation of an encapsulated 1 : 1 complex is supported by elemental analysis and spectroscopic evidence.  相似文献

The Gd(III) complexes of the two dimeric ligands [en(DO3A)2] {N,N'-bis[1,4,7-tris(carboxymethyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecan-10-yl-methylcarbonyl]-N,N'-ethylenediamine} and [pi(DTTA)2]8- [bisdiethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (trans-1,2-cyclohexanediamine)] were synthesized and characterized. The 17O NMR chemical shift of H2O induced by [en{Dy(DO3A)}2] and [pi{Dy(DTTA)}2]2- at pH 6.80 proved the presence of 2.1 and 2.2 inner-sphere water molecules, respectively. Water proton spin-lattice relaxation rates for [en{Gd(DO3A)(H2O)}2] and [pi{Gd(DTTA)(H2O)}2]2- at 37.0 +/- 0.1 degrees C and 20 MHz are 3.60 +/- 0.05 and 5.25 +/- 0.05 mM(-1) s(-1) per Gd, respectively. The EPR transverse electronic relaxation rate and 17O NMR transverse relaxation time for the exchange lifetime of the coordinated H2O molecule and the 2H NMR longitudinal relaxation rate of the deuterated diamagnetic lanthanum complex for the rotational correlation time were thoroughly investigated, and the results were compared with those reported previously for other lanthanide(III) complexes. The exchange lifetimes for [en{Gd(DO3A)(H2O)}2] (769 +/- 10 ns) and [pi{Gd(DTTA)(H2O)}2]2- (910 +/- 10 ns) are significantly higher than those of [Gd(DOTA)(H2O)]- (243 ns) and [Gd(DTPA)(H2O)]2- (303 ns) complexes. The rotational correlation times for [en{Gd(DO3A)(H2O)}2] (150 +/- 11 ps) and [pi{Gd(DTTA)(H2O)}2]2- (130 +/- 12 ps) are slightly greater than those of [Gd(DOTA)(H2O)]- (77 ps) and [Gd(DTPA)(H2O)]2- (58 ps) complexes. The marked increase in relaxivity (r1) of [en{Gd(DO3A)(H2O)}2] and [pi{Gd(DTTA)(H2O)}2]2- result mainly from their longer rotational correlation time and higher molecular weight.  相似文献

We have synthesized ditopic ligands L(1), L(2), and L(3) that contain two DO3A(3-) metal-chelating units with a xylene core as a noncoordinating linker (DO3A(3-) = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7-triacetate; L(1) = 1,4-bis{[4,7,10-tris(carboxymethyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1-yl]methyl}benzene; L(2) = 1,3-bis{[4,7,10-tris(carboxymethyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1-yl]methyl}benzene; L(3) = 3,5-bis{[4,7,10-tris(carboxymethyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1-yl]methyl}benzoic acid). Aqueous solutions of the dinuclear Gd(III) complexes formed with the three ligands have been investigated in a variable-temperature, multiple-field (17)O NMR and (1)H relaxivity study. The (17)O longitudinal relaxation rates measured for the [Gd(2)L(1-3)(H2O)(2)] complexes show strong field dependence (2.35-9.4 T), which unambiguously proves the presence of slowly tumbling entities in solution. The proton relaxivities of the complexes, which are unexpectedly high for their molecular weight, and in particular the relaxivity peaks observed at 40-50 MHz also constitute experimental evidences of slow rotational motion. This was explained in terms of self-aggregation related to hydrophobic interactions, pi stacking between the aromatic linkers, or possible hydrogen bonding between the chelates. The longitudinal (17)O relaxation rates of the [Gd(2)L(1-3)(H2O)(2)] complexes have been analysed with the Lipari-Szabo approach, leading to local rotational correlation times tau(1)(298) of 150-250 ps and global rotational correlation times tau(g)(298) of 1.6-3.4 ns (c(Gd): 20-50 mM), where tau(1)(298) is attributed to local motions of the Gd segments, while tau(g)(298) describes the overall motion of the aggregates. The aggregates can be partially disrupted by phosphate addition; however, at high concentrations phosphate interferes in the first coordination sphere by replacing the coordinated water. In contrast to the parent [Gd(DO3A)(H2O)(1.9)], which presents a hydration equilibrium between mono- and dihydrated species, a hydration number of q = 1 was established for the [Ln(2)L(1-3)(H2O)(2)] chelates by (17)O chemical shift measurements on Ln = Gd and UV/Vis spectrophotometry for Ln = Eu. The exchange rate of the coordinated water is higher for [Gd(2)L(1-3)(H2O)(2)] complexes k(ex)(298) = 7.5-12.0 x 10(6) s(-1)) than for [Gd(DOTA)(H2O)](-). The proton relaxivity of the [Gd(2)L(1-3)(H2O)(2)] complexes strongly decreases with increasing pH. This is related to the deprotonation of the inner-sphere water, which has also been characterized by pH potentiometry. The protonation constants determined for this process are logK(OH) = 9.50 and 10.37 for [Gd(2)L(1)(H2O)(2)] and [Gd(2)L(3)(H2O)(2)], respectively.  相似文献

Several Bi(III) complexes are used in medicine as drugs. Bi(DO3A-Bu) has recently been proposed as a nonionic contrast agent in X-ray imaging (H(3)DO3A-Bu = 10-[2,3-dihydroxy-(1-hydroxymethyl)propyl]-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,-triacetic acid). The solution equilibria and NMR structure and dynamics of Bi(DO3A-Bu) and of the similar Bi(DOTA)(-) have been investigated (H(4)DOTA = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid). The stability constants were determined with the study of the competition equilibria between Br(-) ions and the ligands DOTA or DO3A-Bu for the Bi(III) by spectrophotometry. The stability constants, obtained for Bi(DOTA)(-) and Bi(DO3A-Bu), are very high, log K = 30.3 and 26.8, respectively. Potentiometric titrations indicated the dissociation of one of the protons among the three alcoholic OH groups in Bi(DO3A-Bu). The dissociation constant is log K = 7.53 (0.09) indicating that at physiological pH about 50% of the species possess -1 charge. It was shown by (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy that the OH group attached to the middle carbon atom of the "butriol" side chain is coordinated to the Bi(III) and starts to deprotonate at pH > 5.5. The crystal structure of NaBi(DOTA).H(2)O shows an octacoordinated arrangement of the donor atoms around the Bi(III), with no water in the inner sphere. The crystals belong to the centrosymmetric space group C2/c. The temperature dependent (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra indicate that both Bi(DOTA)(-) and Bi(DO3A-Bu)(-) complexes are fluxional. For Bi(DOTA), the Delta(deltadeltadeltadelta) right harpoon over left harpoon Lambda(lambdalambdalambdalambda) fluxionality was identified, and on the basis of the activation parameters, a synchronous motion was suggested for the fluxional motion resulting in the change of ring conformation and of the helicity of the complex. The transition state is supposed to be more symmetrical than the initial state. The deprotonated Bi(DO3A-Bu) has a highly asymmetric NMR structure in solution, and its fluxional motion is slower than that of Bi(DOTA)(-).  相似文献

The formation of ion-pair adducts between the cationic complex La(THP)3+ (THP = 1,4,7,10-tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane) and the anionic complexes Tm(DOTA)- (DOTA = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-N,N',N",N"'-tetraacetate), Tm(DTPA)2- (DTPA = diethylenetriamine-N,N,N',N",N"-pentaacetate), Tm(TTHA)3- (TTHA = triethylenetetraamine-N,N,N',N",N"',N"'-hexaacetate), and Tm(DOTP)5- (DOTP = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-N,N',N",N"'-tetrakis(methylenephosphonate)) is examined by 13C NMR spectroscopy. The induced 13C shifts of the La(THP)3+ complex are followed by titration of the Tm(III) complexes of DOTA, DTPA, and TTHA at pH 7. From these data, the stability constants are calculated to be beta 1 = 64 M-1 (1:1), beta 1 = 296 M-1 (1:1), and beta 2 = 26,000 M-2 (2:1) for the ion pairs of La(THP)3+, with Tm(DOTA)-, Tm(DTPA)2-, and Tm(TTHA)3-, respectively. The La(THP)3+,Tm(DOTP)5- system elicits chiral resolution of the rapidly interconverting Tm(DOTP)5- isomers.  相似文献

Two new macrocyclic DOTA-like chelates containing one phosphonate pendant arm were synthesised as potential contrast agents for MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). The chelates bind to the lanthanide(III) in an octadentate manner, via four nitrogen atoms, three carboxylate and one phosphonate oxygen atoms. Solution structures of [Ln(do3ap(OEt2))(H(2)O)] and [Ln(do3ap(OEt))(H(2)O)](-) were studied using (31)P and (1)H NMR spectroscopy and SAP (square-antiprismatic)/TSAP (twisted square-antiprismatic) isomerism was observed. Depending on the nature of the lanthanide(III) ion, the lanthanide(III) complexes of H(4)do3ap(OEt) are present in solution as up to four different diastereoisomers observable with NMR. The TSAP isomer is the most abundant at the beginning of the lanthanide series and, with a decrease of the ionic radius of lanthanide(III) ions, both TSAP and SAP forms were observed. A second interconversion (SAP<-->TSAP') becomes important at the end of the series (TSAP' means the TSAP species without a coordinated water molecule). The remaining axial coordination site is occupied by one water molecule for the Gd(3+)-complex. The calculated fraction of the TSAP isomer in the gadolinium(III) complexes increases in the order [Gd(DOTA)(H(2)O)](-) < [Gd(do3ap(OEt2))(H(2)O)] < [Gd(do3ap(OEt))(H(2)O)](-) < [Gd(do3ap)(H(2)O)](2-). Gadolinium(III) complexes of phosphorus-containing chelates, generally, have the advantage of a relatively fast water exchange rate due to a greater sterical demand of the phosphorus acid moiety and of the presence of the second-sphere water shell, which also contributes to the overall relaxivity. The [Gd(do3ap(OEt2))(H(2)O)] and [Gd(do3ap(OEt))(H(2)O)](-) complexes were studied by variable-temperature (17)O NMR and (1)H NMRD. The experimental data were evaluated simultaneously with commonly used equations based on Solomon-Bloembergen-Morgan approximation, extended by a contribution of the second coordination sphere. The water exchange rates were found to be strongly dependent on the TSAP/SAP isomeric ratio and the overall charge of the complex: the monoanionic [Gd(do3ap(OEt))(H(2)O)](-) complex with TSAP molar fraction equal to 0.36 has the water exchange rate of 20 x 10(6) s(-1) (tau(M) = 50 ns) while neutral [Gd(do3ap(OEt2))(H(2)O)] complex with TSAP molar fraction 0.28 has an exchange rate equal to 4.4 x 10(6) s(-1) (tau(M) = 227 ns).  相似文献

The reaction of Ln(NO3)3.aq with K3[Fe(CN)6] or K3[Co(CN)6] in N,N'-dimethylformamide (DMF) led to 25 heterodinuclear [Ln(DMF)4(H2O)3(mu-CN)Fe(CN)5].nH2O and [Ln(DMF)4(H2O)3(mu-CN)Co(CN)5].nH2O complexes (with Ln = all the lanthanide(III) ions, except promethium and lutetium). Five complexes (Pr(3+)-Fe3+), (Tm(3+)-Fe3+), (Ce(3+)-Co3+), (Sm(3+)-Co3+), and (Yb(3+)-Co3+) have been structurally characterized; they crystallize in the equivalent monoclinic space groups P21/c or P21/n. Structural studies of these two families show that they are isomorphous. This relationship in conjunction with the diamagnetism of the Co3+ allows an approximation to the nature of coupling between the iron(III) and the lanthanide(III) ions in the [Ln(DMF)4(H2O)3(mu-CN)Fe(CN)5].nH2O complexes. The Ln(3+)-Fe3+ interaction is antiferromagnetic for Ln = Ce, Nd, Gd, and Dy and ferromagnetic for Ln = Tb, Ho, and Tm. For Ln = Pr, Eu, Er, Sm, and Yb, there is no sign of any significant interaction. The isotropic nature of Gd3+ helps to evaluate the value of the exchange interaction.  相似文献

A new family of mixed-lanthanide cyano-bridged coordination polymers Ln(0.5)Ln'(0.5)(H(2)O)(5)[W(CN)(8)] (where Ln/Ln' = Eu(3+)/Tb(3+), Eu(3+)/Gd(3+), and Tb(3+)/Sm(3+)) containing two lanthanide and one transition metal ions were obtained and characterized by X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence spectroscopy, magnetic analyses, and theoretical computation. These compounds are isotypical and crystallize in the tetragonal system P4/nmm forming two-dimensional grid-like networks. They present a magnetic ordering at low temperature and display the red Eu(3+) ((5)D(0) → (7)F(0-4)) and green Tb(3+) ((5)D(4) → (7)F(6-2)) characteristic photoluminescence. The Tb(0.5)Eu(0.5)(H(2)O)(5)[W(CN)(8)] compound presents therefore green and red emission and shows Tb(3+)-to-Eu(3+) energy transfer.  相似文献

To tune the lanthanide luminescence in related molecular structures, we synthesized and characterized a series of lanthanide complexes with imidazole-based ligands: two tripodal ligands, tris{[2-{(1-methylimidazol-2-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (Me(3)L), and tris{[2-{(imidazol-4-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (H(3)L), and the dipodal ligand bis{[2-{(imidazol-4-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (H(2)L). The general formulas are [Ln(Me(3)L)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(3)·3H(2)O (Ln = 3+ lanthanide ion: Sm (1), Eu (2), Gd (3), Tb (4), and Dy (5)), [Ln(H(3)L)(NO(3))](NO(3))(2)·MeOH (Ln(3+) = Sm (6), Eu (7), Gd (8), Tb (9), and Dy (10)), and [Ln(H(2)L)(NO(3))(2)(MeOH)](NO(3))·MeOH (Ln(3+) = Sm (11), Eu (12), Gd (13), Tb (14), and Dy (15)). Each lanthanide ion is 9-coordinate in the complexes with the Me(3)L and H(3)L ligands and 10-coordinate in the complexes with the H(2)L ligand, in which counter anion and solvent molecules are also coordinated. The complexes show a screw arrangement of ligands around the lanthanide ions, and their enantiomorphs form racemate crystals. Luminescence studies have been carried out on the solid and solution-state samples. The triplet energy levels of Me(3)L, H(3)L, and H(2)L are 21?000, 22?700, and 23?000 cm(-1), respectively, which were determined from the phosphorescence spectra of their Gd(3+) complexes. The Me(3)L ligand is an effective sensitizer for Sm(3+) and Eu(3+) ions. Efficient luminescence of Sm(3+), Eu(3+), Tb(3+), and Dy(3+) ions was observed in complexes with the H(3)L and H(2)L ligands. Ligand modification by changing imidazole groups alters their triplet energy, and results in different sensitizing ability towards lanthanide ions.  相似文献

We have used multinuclear NMR and IR spectroscopy to study the interaction of a number of metal cations with monovacant heteropolyanion [P(2)W(20)O(7)(0)(H(2)O)(2)](10)(-) (P(2)W(20)) in aqueous solutions starting from its K salt. We have also prepared and studied P(2)W(20) in an Na-only medium. The observed differences in the NMR spectra of NaP(2)W(20)and KP(2)W(20)solutions and the importance of K(+) and Na(+) for the formation of P(2)W(20) suggest that this polyanion exists only as a complex with the alkaline cations. When both cations were simultaneously present in solution, we observed the broadening of the NMR signals of P(2)W(20)due to the Na-K exchange. Li(+) does not replace K(+) or Na(+) in such complexes, and in an Li-only medium P(2)W(20) does not form. Of all the M(n)(+) cations studied (Pd(2+), Bi(3+), Sn(4+), Zr(4+), Ce(4+), Ti(4+), V(5+), and Mo(6+)) only Bi(3+), Sn(4+), and Ce(4+) form complexes with P(2)W(20) in strongly acidic solutions. The (183)W and (119)Sn NMR data suggest that Sn(4+) forms in solution two mutually interconvertable P(2)W(20)Sn complexes of the composition P(2)W(20)O(70)(H(2)O)(3)SnOH(7)(-) and (P(2)W(20)O(70)(H(2)O)(3)Sn)(2)O(14)(-) while Bi(3+) forms one complex of the proposed composition P(2)W(20)O(70)(H(2)O)(2)Bi.(7)(-) We obtained complexes with Bi and Sn as free heteropoly acids and studied their thermostability in the solid state.  相似文献

Four 52-metal-ion 3d-4f cluster complexes featuring a common core of Ln(42)M(10) (Ln = Gd(3+), Dy(3+); M = Co(2+/3+), Ni(2+)) were obtained through self-assembly of the metal ions templated by mixed anions (ClO(4)(-) and CO(3)(2-)). Magnetic studies revealed that the Gd(42)Co(10) and Gd(42)Ni(10) clusters exhibit the largest magnetocaloric effect (MCE) among any known 3d-4f complexes. Replacement of Gd(3+) ions with anisotropic Dy(3+) ions caused significant changes in the magnetic behavior of the clusters; both Dy(42)Co(10) and Dy(42)Ni(10) displayed slow relaxation of the magnetization.  相似文献

The three‐dimensional structures in aqueous solution of the entire series of the Ln3+ complexes [Ln(DOTP*‐Et)]? (formed from the free ligand P,P′,P″,P′′′‐[1,4,7,10‐tetraazacyclododecane‐1,4,7,10‐tetrayltetrakis(methylene)]tetrakis[P‐ethylphosphinic acid] (H4DOTP*‐Et) were studied by NMR techniques to rationalize the parameters governing the relaxivity of the Gd3+ complex and evaluate its potential as MRI contrast agent. From the 1H‐ and 31P‐NMR lanthanide‐induced‐shift (LIS) values, especially of the [Yb(DOTP*‐Et)]? complex, it was concluded that the [Ln(DOTP*‐Et)]? complexes adopt in solution twisted square antiprismatic coordination geometries which change gradually their coordination‐cage structure along the lanthanide series. These complexes have no inner‐sphere‐H2O coordination, and preferentially have the (R,R,R,R) configuration of the P‐atoms in the pendant arms. Self‐association was observed in aqueous solution for the tetraazatetrakisphosphonic acid ester complexes [Ln(DOTP*‐OEt)]? (=[Ln(DOTP‐Et)]?) and [Ln(DOTP*‐OBu)]? (=[Ln(DOTP‐Bu)]?) at and above 5 mM concentration, through analysis of 31P‐NMR, EPR, vapor‐pressure‐osmometry, and luminescence‐spectroscopic data. The presence of the cationic detergent cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC; but not of neutral surfactants) shifts the isomer equilibrium of [Eu(DOTP*‐OBu)]? to the (S,S,S,S) form which selectively binds to the cationic micelle surface.  相似文献

In the objective of optimizing water exchange rate on stable, nine-coordinate, monohydrated Gd(III) poly(amino carboxylate) complexes, we have prepared monopropionate derivatives of DOTA4- (DO3A-Nprop4-) and DTPA5- (DTTA-Nprop5-). A novel ligand, EPTPA-BAA(3-), the bisamylamide derivative of ethylenepropylenetriamine-pentaacetate (EPTPA5-) was also synthesized. A variable temperature 17O NMR study has been performed on their Gd(III) complexes, which, for [Gd(DTTA-Nprop)(H2O)]2- and [Gd(EPTPA-BAA)(H2O)] has been combined with multiple field EPR and NMRD measurements. The water exchange rates, k(ex)(298), are 8.0 x 10(7) s(-1), 6.1 x 10(7) s(-1) and 5.7 x 10(7) s(-1) for [Gd(DTTA-Nprop)(H2O)]2-, [Gd(DO3A-Nprop)(H2O)]- and [Gd(EPTPA-BAA)(H2O)], respectively, all in the narrow optimal range to attain maximum proton relaxivities, provided the other parameters (electronic relaxation and rotation) are also optimized. The substitution of an acetate with a propionate arm in DTPA5- or DOTA4- induces increased steric compression around the water binding site and thus leads to an accelerated water exchange on the Gd(III) complex. The k(ex) values on the propionate complexes are, however, lower than those obtained for [Gd(EPTPA)(H2O)]2- and [Gd(TRITA)(H2O)]- which contain one additional CH(2) unit in the amine backbone as compared to the parent [Gd(DTPA)(H2O)]2- and [Gd(DOTA)(H2O)]-. In addition to their optimal water exchange rate, [Gd(DTTA-Nprop)(H2O)]2- has, and [Gd(DO3A-Nprop)(H2O)]- is expected to have sufficient thermodynamic stability. These properties together make them prime candidates for the development of high relaxivity, macromolecular MRI contrast agents.  相似文献

A new family of chloroborate compounds, which was investigated from the viewpoint of rare earth ion activated phosphor materials, have been synthesized by a conventional high temperature solid-state reaction. The crystal structure and thermally stable luminescence of chloroborate phosphors Ba(2)Ln(BO(3))(2)Cl:Eu(2+) (Ln = Y, Gd, and Lu) have been reported in this paper. X-ray diffraction studies verify the successful isomorphic substitution for Ln(3+) sites in Ba(2)Ln(BO(3))(2)Cl by other smaller trivalent rare earth ions, such as Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, and Yb. The detailed structure information for Ba(2)Ln(BO(3))(2)Cl (Ln = Y, Gd, and Lu) by Rietveld analysis reveals that they all crystallize in a monoclinic P2(1)/m space group. These compounds display interesting and tunable photoluminescence (PL) properties after Eu(2+)-doping. Ba(2)Ln(BO(3))(2)Cl:Eu(2+) phosphors exhibit bluish-green/greenish-yellow light with peak wavelengths at 526, 548, and 511 nm under 365 UV light excitation for Ba(2)Y(BO(3))(2)Cl:Eu(2+), Ba(2)Gd(BO(3))(2)Cl:Eu(2+), and Ba(2)Lu(BO(3))(2)Cl:Eu(2+), respectively. Furthermore, they possess a high thermal quenching temperature. With the increase of temperature, the emission bands show blue shifts with broadening bandwidths and slightly decreasing emission intensities. It is expected that this series of chloroborate phosphors can be used in white-light UV-LEDs as a good wavelength-conversion phosphor.  相似文献
