Thiophene adsorption on the Rh(111) surfaces has been investigated by density functional theory. The results show that the adsorption at the hollow and bridge sites is the most stable. The molecular plane of the thiophene ring is distorted, the C=C bond is stretched to 1.448  and the C-C bond is shortened to 1.390.The C-H bonds tilt 22~42oaway from the surface. The calculated adsorption geometries are in reasonable agreement with population analysis and density of states. The thiophene molecule obtains 0.74 electrons, reflecting the interaction between the lone pair of sulfur and the d-orbitals of metal. The reaction paths and transition states for desulfurization of the molecule have been investigated. The bridge adsorption structure of thiophene leads to a thiol via an activated reaction with an energetic barrier of 0.30 eV.This second step is slightly difficult, and dissociation into a C4H4 fragment and a sulfur atom is possible, with an energetic barrier of 0.40 eV.  相似文献

We applied periodic density-functional theory to investigate the adsorption of HCN on x Ni@Pt(111) bimetallic surfaces(x = 1~4). The results have been compared with those obtained on pure Ni(111) and Pt(111) surfaces. For all bimetallic surfaces,HCN is preferentially tilted with the CN bond parallel to the surface, and adsorption energies increase with an increasing number of layer Ni atoms on the surface. The adsorption energies of HCN on all bimetallic surfaces are larger than that on the Pt(111) surface, whereas the adsorption energies of HCN on 3Ni@Pt(111) and 4Ni@Pt(111) are larger than that on the Ni(111) surface, indicating that the introduction of Ni to the Pt catalyst could increase the activity of bimetallic catalyst in the hydrogenation reaction for nitriles. Larger adsorption energy of HCN leads to a longer C–N bond length and a smaller CN vibrational frequency. The analysis of Bader charge and vibrational frequencies showed obvious weakening of the adsorbed C–N bond and an indication of sp2 hybridization of both carbon and nitrogen atoms.  相似文献

The O-Ag(210)surface adsorption system was studied via the five-parameter Morse potential theory.Meanwhile, the 2O-Ag(210)system was investigated via the extended London-Eyring-Polanyi-Sato(LEPS)potential theory to learn the interaction between the adsorption states.Calculated results demonstrate that there are two stable on-surface adsorption sites(B and H)for O atoms on Ag(210)stepped surface. And the perpendicular vibrations are 30.3 and 42.9 meV,which are close to that observed in high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy(HREELS).Also, there exists an octahedral subsurface adsorption state with a high vibrational frequency, and the interaction between the on-surface and subsurface O species is slight. The mode at 54.6 meV,which is close to that observed in HREELS(54-56 meV),is because of the vibration of the O atom on B site under the influence of that on H site.  相似文献

The density functional theory(DFT) and self-consistent periodic calculation were used to investigate the methanol adsorption on the Pt-Mo(111)/C surface. The adsorption energies, equilibrium geometries and vibration frequencies of CH3OH on nine types of sites on the Pt-Mo(111)/C surface were predicted and the favorite adsorption site for methanol is the top-Pt site. Both sites of valence and conduction bands of doped system have been broadened, which are favorable for electrons to transfer to the cavity. The possible decomposition pathway was investigated with transition state searching and the calculation results indicate that the O-H bond is first broken, and then the methanol decomposes into methoxy. The activation barrier of O-H bond breaking with Pt-Mo catalyst is only 104.8 kJ mol-1,showing that carbon supported Pt-Mo alloys have promoted the decomposition of methanol.Comparing with the adsorption energies of CH3OH on the Pt(111)/C surface and that of CO,the adsorption energies of CO are higher, and Pt(111)/C is liable to be oxidized and loses the activity, which suggests that the catalyst Pt-Mo(111)/C is in favor of decomposing methanol and has better anti-poisoning ability than Pt(111)/C.  相似文献

The HCNH and CNH2 adsorption on different coordination sites of Cu(100) was theoretically studied considering the cluster approach. The present calculations show that the bridge site is the most favorite for CNH2 perpendicularly adsorbed on the Cu(100) surface via the C atom. For HCNH absorbed on the Cu(100) surface, the parallel adsorption mode with the C and N atoms nearly directly above the adjacent top sites of Cu(100) surface is the most favored. Both CNH2 and HCNH are strongly bound to the Cu(100) surface with CNH2 which is lightly stable (2.51 kJ·mol^-1), indicating that both species may be co-adsorbed on the Cu(100) surface.  相似文献

Density functional theory periodic slab calculations were carried out for CO adsorption on a series of Mo modified Pt(111) surfaces to provide an insight into the interaction between CO and doped metal surface, an important issue in CO oxidation as well as in promotion and poisoning effects of catalysis. The modification of adsorption properties with respect to those of adsorption on the pure Mo(110) and Pt(111) is described in terms of changes in the adsorption energies, adsorption sites and vibrational properties occurring upon alloying. We believe that the present DFT calculations can provide important information into optimal alloy composition for CO-tolerance, which is not easily obtained by experimental methods.  相似文献

Molecular adsorption of formate and carboxyl on stoichiometric CeO2(111) and CeO2(110) surfaces was studied using periodic density functional theory(DFT+U) calculations. Two distinguishable adsorption modes(strong and weak) of formate are identified. The bidentate configuration is more stable than the monodentate adsorption configuration. Both formate and carboxyl bind at the more open CeO2(110) surface are stronger. The calculated vibrational frequencies of two adsorbed species are consistent with the experimental measurements. Finally, the effects of U parameters on the adsorption of formate and carboxyl over both CeO2 surfaces were investigated. We found that the geometrical configurations of two adsorbed species are not affected by different U parameters(U=0,5,and 7).However,the calculated adsorption energy of carboxyl pronouncedly increases with the U value while the adsorption energy of formate only slightly changes(<0.2 eV). The Bader charge analysis shows the opposite charge transfer occurs for formate and carboxyl adsorption where the adsorbed formate is negatively charge while the adsorbed carboxyl is positively charged.Interestingly, with the increasing U parameter, the amount of charge is also increased.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP method is used to theoretically investigate the adsorption conformations of H2O and glycol on the relaxation surface of β-Si3N4(0001) with cluster models. For H2O, the most stable structure is that adsorbed through the H atom lying above a N(3) site of the relaxation surface of β-Si3N4(0001); while for glycol, it is the one adsorbed via the H atom lying above the center of Si(2) and N(3) of the same relaxation surface. The adsorption energy, adsorption bond and transfer electrons of the two adsorbed substances prove that glycol is easy to be adsorbed on the relaxation surface of β-Si3N4(0001).  相似文献

Carbon dioxide adsorbed on different kinds of CaO surfaces has been investigated with the help of the first principle density functional theory plane wave calculations. Various possible configurations have been considered and the calculated results showed that CO2 was strongly adsorbed by C atom bonded with the CaO (001) and (110) surfaces with adsorption energies of 1.38 and 3.22 eV, respectively. The adsorption of CO2 molecule on defect surfaces is complicated compared with that on the pristine surfaces. The adsorption energy of CO2 absorbed on the CaO(110) surface is larger than that of CaO(001) surface when the type of defect surface is the same.  相似文献

Thiophene adsorption on the(111) surfaces of Pd and Pt have been investigated by density functional theory. The results indicate that the adsorption at the hollow sites is the most stable. To our interest, the molecular plane of thiophene ring is distorted with C=C bond being elongated to 1.450  and C-C bond being shortened to 1.347 ,and the C-H bonds tilt 13.91~44.05o away from this plane.Furthermore, analysis on population and density of states verified the calculated adsorption geometries. Finally, charge analysis suggests that thiophene molecule is an electron acceptor, reflecting the interaction between the lone pair of sulfur and the d-orbitals of metal.

The vibrational spectra of mixed cyanide-halide complexes, M(CN)4X 2 2- and M(CN)5X2- (M=Pt and Pd; X=F, Cl, Br and I), have been systematically investigated by ab initio RHF, B3LYP and MP2 methods with LanL2DZ and SDD basis sets. The calculated vibrational frequencies of platinum complexes are evaluated via comparison with the experimental values. In the infrared frequency region, the C--N stretching vibrational frequencies calculated at B3LYP level with two basis sets are in good agreement with the observed values with deviations, -16-4 cm(-1) for Pt(CN)4X 2 2- and -18 to -2 cm(-1) for Pt(CN)5X2-. However, in far-infrared region, the results obtained at RHF level are better than those calculated at B3LYP and MP2 levels. For RHF/SDD method, the deviations for Ptz.sbnd;X and Ptz.sbnd;C stretching vibrational frequencies are -14-1 and -12 to -2 cm(-1) in the complex Pt(CN)4X2 2-, -19 to -11 and -15-14 cm(-1) in the Pt(CN)5X2- complex, respectively. The vibrational frequencies of palladium(IV) and some platinum(IV) complexes that have not been experimentally reported are predicted.  相似文献

1 INTRODUCTION Cyanide, CN, is an important free-radical mole-cule of one carbon chemistry, organic chemistry, free-radical chemistry and cosmochemistry. And the im-portant industrial processes, such as the Andrussovreaction, depend on the reactivity of CN bond[1]. Thechemistry of cyanide is also important in the surfacechemistry of a number of C- and N-containing sys-tems[1, . The volumetric hydrogen adsorption isotherms of two isostructural dehydrated cubic metal nitroprussides M[Fe(CN)5NO] (M = Co2+, Ni2+) have been measured up to a pressure of 760 Torr at 77 and 87 K. These materials are among the most efficient H2 sorbents based on porous coordination polymers reported to date. The H2 uptake in both materials is approximately 1.6 wt % at 77 K and 760 torr. These H2 capacities match those reported recently in the structurally related M3[Co(CN)6]2 compounds and are approximately 25% higher than those reported for Zn4O(1,4-benzenedicarboxylate)3 under the same conditions of temperature and pressure. The isosteric heats of H2 adsorption calculated from the 77 and 87 K isotherms for both materials were found to vary from approximately 7.5 kJ/mol at 0.40 wt % coverage to approximately 5.5 kJ/mol at 1.2 wt % coverage. The N2 BET surface areas were determined to be 634 m2/g and 523 m2/g for M = Ni and M = Co, respectively.  相似文献

The adsorption of the [Ru(CN)5(pyS)]4− (pyS=4-mercaptopyridine) ion complex on gold, silver and copper surfaces has been studied by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The influence of the nature of the metallic substrates in the adsorption geometry of the complex is reflected in a strong variation of the SERS spectra, particularly, the relative intensities of characteristic vibrational modes of pyS and CN ligands, which is likely to result from changes in specific chemical interactions involving both ligands and the surface. The effect of the surface modification procedure on the properties of the adsorbed monolayers has also been investigated for the gold surface. Surface modification has been performed by self-assembly or under an electrochemical potential. The spectroscopic results have shown that, according to the modification procedure, the modifier can be bound to the surface via sulfur atom or via CN nitrogen atoms. The ability to control the orientation of the adsorbed monolayer permits control over the properties of the interface, as demonstrated by the study of the electrochemistry of cytochrome-c (cyt-c) on the differently prepared surfaces. A reversible electrochemical response of the metalloprotein is only observed on the self-assembly prepared surface, where CN moieties of the surface modifier are available to interact with the protein molecule.  相似文献

New Hofmann type complexes in the form of M(pp)(2)Ni(CN)(4) (where pp=1-phenylpiperazine and M=Ni, Co, Cd, Pd or Mn) have been prepared in powder form and their infrared spectra have been reported in the range of (4000-400) cm(-1). The thermal behaviours of these complexes have been investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA). Ni(pp)(2)Ni(CN)(4) complex has been examined via transmission electron microscope (TEM). The results suggest that these compounds are similar in structure to Hofmann type complexes and their structures consist of polymeric layers |M-Ni(CN)(4)|(infinity) with the pp molecule bounded to the metal atom (M).  相似文献

The adsorption and dehydrogenation reactions of ethanol over bimetallic clusters, Pt(3)M (M = Pt, Ru, Sn, Re, Rh, and Pd), have been extensively investigated with density functional theory. Both the α-hydrogen and hydroxyl adsorptions on Pt as well as on the alloyed transition metal M sites of PtM were considered as initial reaction steps. The adsorptions of ethanol on Pt and M sites of some PtM via the α-hydrogen were well established. Although the α-hydrogen adsorption on Pt site is weaker than the hydroxyl, the potential energy profiles show that the dehydrogenation via the α-hydrogen path has much lower energy barrier than that via the hydroxyl path. Generally for the α-hydrogen path the adsorption is a rate-determining-step because of rather low dehydrogenation barrier for the α-hydrogen adsorption complex (thermodynamic control), while the hydroxyl path is determined by its dehydrogenation step (kinetic control). The effects of alloyed metal on the catalysis activity of Pt for ethanol partial oxidation, including adsorption energy, energy barrier, electronic structure, and eventually rate constant were discussed. Among all of the alloyed metals only Sn enhances the rate constant of the dehydrogenation via the α-hydrogen path on the Pt site of Pt(3)Sn as compared with Pt alone, which interprets why the PtSn is the most active to the oxidation of ethanol.  相似文献

Transition metal atom M (M = Cu, Ag, Au) adsorption on CeO(2)(110), a technologically important catalytic support surface, is investigated with density-functional theory within the DFT+U formalism. A set of model configurations was generated by placing M at three surface sites, viz., on top of an O, an O bridge site, and a Ce bridge site. Prior to DFT optimization, small distortions in selected Ce-O distances were imposed to explore the energetics associated with reduction of Ce(4+) to Ce(3+) due to charge transfer to Ce during M adsorption. Charge redistribution is confirmed with spin density isosurfaces and site projected density of states. We demonstrate that Cu and Au atoms can be oxidized to Cu(2+) and Au(2+), although the adsorption energy, E(ads), of Au(2+) is less favorable and, unlike Cu(2+), it has not been experimentally observed. Oxidation of Ag always results in Ag(+). For M adsorption at an O bridge site, E(ads)(2NN) > E(ads)(3NN) > E(ads)(1NN) where NN denotes the nearest neighbor Ce(3+) site relative to M. Alternatively, for M adsorption at a Ce bridge site, E(ads)(3NN) > E(ads)(2NN) > E(ads)(1NN). The adsorption behavior of M on CeO(2) (110) is compared with M adsorption on CeO(2)(111).  相似文献

Adsorption of NO on Pt(110)-(1 x 2) and (1 x 1) surfaces has been investigated by density functional theory (DFT) method (periodic DMol(3)) with full geometry optimization and without symmetry restriction. Adsorption energies, structures, and N-O stretching vibrational frequencies of NO are studied by considering multiple possible adsorption sites and comparing with the experimental data. Adsorption is strongly dependent on both coverage and surface phase. The assignment of adsorption sites has been carried out with precise calculation of vibrational frequencies for NO on various sites. We clearly show the NO site switching on both of the surfaces as found in the experiments: at low coverages, bridge species is formed on the surface, and at high coverages, NO switches to atop sites.  相似文献
