MXenes are recently developed two-dimensional layered materials composed of early transition metal carbides and/or nitrides that provide unique characteristics for biosensor applications. This review presents the recent progress made on the usage and applications of MXenes in the field of electrochemical biosensors, including microfluidic biosensors and wearable microfluidic biosensors, and highlights the challenges with possible solutions and future needs. The multilayered configuration and high conductivity make these materials as an immobilization matrix for the biomolecule immobilization with activity retention and to be explored in the fabrication of electrochemical sensors, respectively. First, how the MXene nanocomposite as an electrode modifier affects the sensing performance of the electrochemical biosensors based on enzymes, aptamer/DNA, and immunoassays is well described. Second, recent developments in MXene nanocomposites as wearable biosensing platforms for the biomolecule detection are highlighted. This review pointed out the future concerns and directions for the use of MXene nanocomposites to fabricate advanced electrochemical biosensors with high sensitivity and selectivity. Specifically, possibilities for developing microfluidic electrochemical sensors and wearable electrochemical microfluidic sensors with integrated biomolecule detection are emphasized.  相似文献

Fully exfoliated layered silicate epoxy nanocomposites are reported in this article. The processing route that resulted in these fully exfoliated layered silicate epoxies is based on a combination of high‐shear mixing in the presence of acetone and ultrasonication. Homomogeneous and random dispersion of the individual silicate nanolayers in the epoxy is confirmed through transmission electron microscopy images spanning low to high magnification as well as by X‐ray diffraction. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Epoxy nanocomposites combining high toughness with advantageous functional properties are needed in many fields. However, fabricating high‐performance homogeneous epoxy nanocomposites with traditional methods remains a great challenge. Nacre with outstanding fracture toughness presents an ideal blueprint for the development of future epoxy nanocomposites. Now, high‐performance epoxy‐graphene layered nanocomposites were demonstrated with ultrahigh toughness and temperature‐sensing properties. These nanocomposites are composed of ca. 99 wt % organic epoxy, which is in contrast to the composition of natural nacre (ca. 96 wt % inorganic aragonite). These nanocomposites are named an inverse artificial nacre. The fracture toughness reaches about 4.2 times higher than that of pure epoxy. The electrical resistance is temperature‐sensitive and stable under various humidity conditions. This strategy opens an avenue for fabricating high‐performance epoxy nanocomposites with functional properties.  相似文献

Comprehensive high-performance epoxy nanocomposites were prepared by simultaneous incorporating montmorillonite (MMT) and nanoSiO2 into epoxy. Mechanical tests and thermal analyses showed that the epoxy/MMT/nanoSiO2 nanocomposites obtained considerable improvement over basic epoxy in tensile modulus, tensile strength, flexural modulus, flexural strength, notch impact strength, glass transition temperature, and thermal decomposition temperature. X-ray diffraction measurements and transmission electronic microscopy observations revealed that the layered structure of MMT was completely exfoliated into two-dimensional nanoscale mono-platelets. These 2D mono-platelets formed intermingled structure with the zero-dimensional nanoSiO2 spheres in the nanocomposites. This study suggests that employing the synergistic reinforcement effect of two dimensionally different nanoscale particles is one pathway to success in developing comprehensive high-performance polymer nanocomposites.  相似文献

Novel epoxy nanocomposites based on a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) epoxy, an epoxy functionalized hyperbranched polymer (HTTE) and nano‐Al2O3 were synthesized with the aim of determining the effect of the nano‐Al2O3 particles and HTTE on the structure and properties of epoxy nanocomposites. The mechanical properties, thermal conductivity, bulk resistivity, and thermal stability of the nano‐Al2O3/HTTE/DGEBA ternary composites were evaluated and compared with the corresponding matrix. The improvement in impact properties of these nanocomposites was explained in terms of fracture surface analysis by SEM. The results indicate that the incorporation of nanoparticles and hyperbranched epoxy effectively improved the toughness of epoxy composites without sacrificing thermal conductivity and bulk resistivity compared to the neat epoxy and Al2O3/DGEBA, obtaining a well dispersion of nanoparticles in epoxy matrix and solving the drawbacks for single fillers filled epoxy nanocomposite. The bisphenol‐A type epoxy resin was combined with layered clays. Three types of epoxy/clay nanocomposites were prepared by different clay pretreatment methods, that is, the slurry (clay swelling with polar solvent), organo, and solubilization (organoclay swelling with polar solvent) methods. The organo and solubilization systems showed good dispersibility. The basal spacing of the layered clays in the obtained nanocomposites was evaluated by XRD and TEM observations. The basal spacing of the nanoclay in the solubilization system drastically increased. The mechanical properties were improved with the increase in the clay dispersion. A high modulus and fracture toughness were obtained by improvement of the clay dispersion into the matrix. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 47: 1753–1761, 2009  相似文献

Intercalated and ordered exfoliated layered silicate nanocomposites based on three different epoxy resins of different structures and functionalities were synthesized using an octadecyl ammonium modified smectite clay. Water uptake properties of series of each nanocomposite system with different organoclay concentrations were determined by gravimetric measurements over a period of time. The diffusion coefficients were determined and the effect of the absorbed water on the thermal relaxations investigated. The equilibrium water uptake of all nanocomposites was reduced compared to the neat epoxy system but the rate of water diffusion remained unaffected. Further, the thermal stability of the different nanocomposites was determined using thermogravimetric analysis. The nanocomposites showed slightly reduced thermal stability, as indicated by a slight decrease in onset of degradation, whilst the final char concentration increased for greater organoclay concentrations.  相似文献

Recent studies have shown impressive transport behaviors of water and ions within lamellar MXene membranes, which endows great promise in developing advanced separation application based high performance MXene membranes. However, most of the researches focused on modification of MXene nanoflakes and optimizing interlayer distance, leaving the impact of membrane fabrication process marginal. In this work,we studied the water flux of membranes made by vacuum filtration using delaminated MXene nanoflakes as the building-blocks.Our results show that the water permeability is extremely sensitive to the process, especially at the drying process, loading and deposit rate of nanoflakes(the feeding concentration). We find that the voids from less ordered stack rather than in-plane defects and interlayer galleries contribute to the large water permeability. The voids can be effectively avoided via deposition of MXene nanoflakes at a slow rate.Manipulating the stack of MXene nanoflakes during vacuum filtration and drying are critical for development of MXene membranes with desired performance for water permeation.  相似文献

A novel electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose sensor based on three-dimensional Au/MXene nanocomposites was developed. MXenes were prepared using the mild etched method, and the porous foam of Au nanoparticles was combined with the MXene by means of in situ synthesis. By controlling the mass of MXene in the synthesis process, porous foam with Au nanoparticles was obtained. The three-dimensional foam structure of nanoparticles was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used to study the electrochemical performance of the Au/MXene nanocomposites. The Au/MXene nanocomposites acted as a fast redox probe for non-enzymatic glucose oxidation and showed good performance, including a high sensitivity of 22.45 μA\begin{document}$\cdot$\end{document}(mmol/L)\begin{document}$^{-1}$\end{document}\begin{document}$\cdot$\end{document}cm\begin{document}$^{-1}$\end{document} and a wide linear range of 1-12 mmol/L. Studies have shown that MXene as a catalyst-supported material is beneficial to enhance the conductivity of electrons and increase the loading rate of the catalyst materials. The foam structure with Au nanoparticles can provide a larger surface area, increase the contact area with the molecule in the catalytic reaction, and enhance the electrochemical reaction signal. In summary, this study shows that Au/MXene nanoparticles have the potential to be used in non-enzymatic glucose sensors.  相似文献

To improve the dispersion of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and flame retardancy of layered double hydroxide (LDH) in epoxy resin (EP), organic nickel‐iron layered double hydroxide (ONiFe‐LDH‐CNTs) hybrids were assembled through co‐precipitation. These hybrids were further used as reinforcing filler in EP. EP/ONiFe‐LDH‐CNTs nanocomposites containing 4 wt% of ONiFe‐LDH‐CNTs with different ratios of ONiFe‐LDH and CNTs were prepared by ultrasonic dispersion and program temperature curing. The structure and morphology of the obtained hybrids were characterized by different techniques. The dispersion of nanofillers in the EP matrix was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results revealed a coexistence of exfoliated and intercalated ONiFe‐LDH‐ CNTs in polymer matrix. Strong combination of the above nanofillers with the EP matrix provided an efficient thermal and flame retardant improvement for the nanocomposites. It showed that EP/ONiFe‐LDH‐CNTs nanocomposites exhibited superior flame retardant and thermal properties compared with EP. Such improved thermal properties could be attributed to the better homogeneous dispersion, stronger interfacial interaction, excellent charring performance of ONiFe‐LDH and synergistic effect between ONiFe‐LDH and CNTs.  相似文献

We have prepared epoxy/polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) nanocomposites by photopolymerization from octakis(glycidylsiloxy)octasilsesquioxane (OG) and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. We used nuclear magnetic resonance, Raman, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies to characterize the chemical structure of the synthetic OG. Differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) revealed that the nanocomposites possessed higher glass transition temperatures than that of the pristine epoxy resin. Furthermore, DMA indicated that all of the nanocomposites exhibited enhanced storage moduli in the rubbery state, a phenomenon that we ascribe to both the nano‐reinforcement effect of the POSS cages and the additional degree of crosslinking that resulted from the reactions between the epoxy and OG units. Thermogravimetric analysis revealed that the thermal stability of the nanocomposites was better than that of the pristine epoxy. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Epoxy/clay nanocomposites with a high degree of exfoliation were achieved by intercalating liquid crystalline epoxy into clay intragallery as well as using a so-called ‘solution compounding’ process. In this process, clay modified was first treated with trichloromethane to form organoclay-trichloromethane suspension followed by liquid crystalline epoxy modification. The liquid crystalline epoxy grafted clay was then mixed extensively with epoxy to form epoxy/nanoclay composites. The mechanism of exfoliation was explored by monitoring the change of morphology of organoclay during each stage of processing with X-ray diffraction (XRD). The liquid crystalline epoxy grafted clay synthesised was characterised by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and polarising optical microscopy (POM). The clay platelets uniformly dispersed and highly exfoliated in the whole epoxy matrix were observed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and FT-IR imaging system. The epoxy nanocomposites were fabricated by incorporating different liquid crystalline epoxy grafted clay loading. The results revealed that the incorporation of liquid crystalline epoxy grafted clay resulted in a significant improvement in glass transition temperature (Tg) derived from dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and thermal stability measured by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).  相似文献

The effect of nano-reinforcements on fracture behaviour of bulk epoxy nanocomposites and mode-I interlaminar fracture toughness of filament-wound basalt fibre-reinforced laminates was studied. Fracture energy of the bulk epoxy nanocomposites significantly increased with acrylic tri-block-copolymer addition but remained unchanged with incorporation of nanoclay. Delamination fracture toughness was not influenced by the presence of nanoparticles in the matrix. Decreasing fibre volume fraction, on the other hand, significantly improved interlaminar fracture energy. Rigid fibres in these composites constrict the stress field ahead of the crack-tip. Hence, increasing resin content enhanced composite delamination energy by increasing the capacity for matrix deformation. Interlaminar crack propagation through the composite was observed to occur mainly by interfacial failure and matrix cracking.  相似文献

PBT/organic montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposites were prepared via melt intercalation and their nanostructure was characterized by means of X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Nanocomposite formation requires sufficiently hydrophobic organically modified layered silicates, as well as the presence of polar interactions between silicate and polymer. Three different alkylammonium surfactants were used to modify MMT. In addition, epoxy resin was added as a third component, and the effects on the intercalation and exfoliation behavior of the PBT nanocomposites were investigated.  相似文献

The acceleration of industrialization and the continuous upgradation of consumption structure has increased the atmospheric content of CO2 far beyond the past levels, leading to a serious global environmental problem. Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 is one of the most promising methods to solve the problem of rising atmospheric CO2 content. The core of this technology is to develop efficient, environment-friendly, and affordable photocatalysts. A photocatalyst is a semiconductor that can absorb photons from sunlight and produce electron-hole pairs to initiate a redox reaction. Owing to their low specific surface areas, significant electron-hole recombination, and less surface-active sites, bulk photocatalysts are not satisfactory. Ultrathin layered materials have shown great potential for photocatalytic CO2 reduction owing to their characteristics of large specific surface area, a large number of low-coordination surface atoms, short transfer distance from the inside to the catalyst surface, along with other advantages. Photoexcited electrons only need to cover a short distance to transfer to the nanowafer surface, and the speed of migrating electrons on the nanowafer surface is much higher than that in the layers or in the bulk catalyst. The ultrathin structure leads to significant coordinative unsaturation and even vacancy defects in the lattice structure of the atoms; while the former can be used as active sites for CO2 adsorption and reaction, the latter can improve the separation of the electron-hole pair. This review summarizes the latest developments in ultrathin layered photocatalysts for CO2 reduction. First, the photocatalytic reduction mechanism of CO2 is introduced briefly, and the factors governing product selectivity are explained. Second, the existing catalysts, such as g-C3N4, black phosphorus (BP), graphene oxide (GO), metal oxide, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), perovskite, BiOX (X = Cl, Br, I), layered double hydroxide (LDH), 2D-MOF, MXene, and two-dimensional honeycomb-like Ge―Si alloy compounds (gersiloxenes), are classified. In addition, the prevalent preparation methods are summarized, including mechanical stripping, gas stripping, liquid stripping, chemical etching, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), template method, self-assembly of surfactant, and the intermediate precursor method of lamellar Bi-oleate complex. Finally, we introduced the strategy of improving photocatalyst performance on the premise of maintaining its layered structure, including the factors of thickness adjustment, doping, structural defects, composite, etc. The future opportunities and challenges of ultrathin layered photocatalysts for the reduction of carbon dioxide have also been proposed.  相似文献

The use of homoionic organic clays and mixed-ion organic/inorganic clays modified by di- or triamines (Jeffamines), which are being used as epoxy resin curing agents, in the synthesis of polymer nanocomposites has been studied in this work. Our aim is to enhance polymer crosslinking and interfacial adhesion in the nanocomposite structure by utilizing the functionality of the di/triamines on the surface of clay nanolayers and by reducing the organic modifier via formation of homostructured mixed-ion organic/inorganic clays. The results show that the use of homoionic organic clays exchanged with relatively short chain di- or triamines and mixed-ion organic/inorganic clays partially exchanged (ca. 35%) with long chain diamines resulted in intercalated structures with enhanced thermo-mechanical properties (Young's Modulus, Storage Modulus). On the other hand, homoionic organic clays exchanged with long chain diamines and triamines resulted in exfoliated nanocomposites but with compromised mechanical properties due to the plasticizing effect of the long chain amine modifiers.  相似文献

Activated carbon derived from oil palm empty fruit bunch (AC-EFB), bamboo stem (AC-BS), and coconut shells (AC-CNS) were obtained by pyrolysis of agricultural wastes using two chemical reagents (H3PO4 or KOH). The AC-EFB, AC-BS and AC-CNS were used as filler in preparation of epoxy nanocomposites. Epoxy nanocomposites prepared at 1, 5 and 10 % activated carbons filler loading using KOH and H3PO4 chemical agents. Transmission electron microscopy confirms better dispersion of the nano-activated carbons in the epoxy matrix at 5 % activated carbon. The presence of 5 % AC-CNS in the epoxy matrix using H3PO4 chemical reagent resulted in an improvement of the thermal stability of epoxy matrix. KOH treated AC filled epoxy nanocomposites were slightly better in thermal stability as compared to H3PO4 treated AC filled epoxy nanocomposites, may be due to better interaction of filler with epoxy matrix. Thermal analysis results showed that thermal stability of the activated carbon filled epoxy nanocomposites improved as compared to the neat epoxy matrix. The degree of crystallinity of epoxy matrix was improved by adding the activated carbon due to interfacial interaction between AC and epoxy matrix rather than loading of AC alone. Developed nanocomposites from biomass (agricultural wastes) materials will help to reduce the overall cost of the materials for its demanding applications as insulating material.  相似文献

Semicrystalline polymer/layered silicate nanocomposites were prepared by solution blending of a low molecular weight poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with an organically modified montmorillonite, Cloisite 10A (C10A). The intercalation morphology was studied by temperature-dependent synchrotron wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD). Unlike PEO homopolymers, significant secondary crystallization was observed in the PEO/C10A nanocomposites. Reversible de-intercalation and intercalation processes were detected during secondary crystallization and subsequent melting of secondary crystals. On the basis of two-dimensional WAXD results on oriented samples, an interphase layer between the silicate primary particles and PEO lamellar crystals was proposed. Secondary PEO crystallization in the interphase regions was inferred to be the primary driving force for polymer chains to diffuse out of the silicate gallery. This study provided a useful method to investigate polymer diffusion in nanoconfined spaces, which can be controlled by PEO secondary crystallization and melting outside the silicate gallery.  相似文献

This paper presents the properties of epoxy nanocomposites, prepared using a synthesized hybrid Polypyrrole-Graphene Oxide (PPy-GO) filler, via in-situ chemical polymerization, at various filler loadings (i.e., 0.5–2 w. t %). The microstructures and properties of the PPy-GO hybrids and epoxy nanocomposites were studied via Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), mechanical (Tensile Properties), electrical, Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). Morphological study demonstrated that varying the nanofiller nature (PPy-GOs, PPy or GO) lead to different states of dispersion. Mechanical, electrical and thermal analysis demonstrated that the hybrid concentration and its architecture (PPy:GO ratio) are interesting factors significantly affected the properties of the epoxy based nanocomposites. On the other hand, the mechanical performance of the cured nanocomposites outperformed the PPy-GO, with enhancements of 78% and 51% of Young's modulus and strength, respectively. Here it has been established that the embedding of PPy-GO hybrids into pristine epoxy endows optimum dispersion of PPy and GO as well as better interfacial adhesion between the fillers and matrix, which results in a significant improvement in load transfer effectiveness. Electrical conductivity measurements showed that conductivity of epoxy filled nanocomposites increased up 10−4 S/cm for Epoxy/PPy-GO nanocomposites. DMTA test indicated that incorporation of PPy-GO resulted in a significantly increase in Tg of the resultant nanocomposites, which is attributed to the highly exfoliation structure and the stronger interfacial interaction. The PPy-GO particles enhanced electrical, thermal and mechanical properties of nanocomposites, confirming the synergistic effect of PPy-GO as multifunctional filler.  相似文献
