Wet chemical synthesis and preliminary photocatalytical characteristics of titania and Fe(III)-containing TiO2 layers are presented. A highly stable coating colloids could be prepared under base- as well as acid-catalyzed condensation conditions. Structural properties of the as-prepared wet gels and sintered films were investigated using SEM, TEM, XRD as well as optical absorption spectroscopy, DTA-TG analysis and photomineralisation studies. X-ray amorphous wet titania gel layers start to crystallize at 500°C forming the characteristic anatase phase. In the presence of iron ions (Fe/Ti = 1), nanocrystalline FeTiO3 ilmenite phase forms. Both TiO2 and Fe-containing TiO2 films demonstrate a photocatalytic activity in the process of the photomineralization of dichloroacetic acid.  相似文献

In this work bimodal structured titanium dioxide (TiO2) microsphere has been prepared from commercial TiO2 powder and nano-sized titania gel via sol–gel spray-coating technique. Crystallization and transformation behavior of titania gel were investigated. The results revealed that the crystallization and transformation of anatase particles were substantially affected by the concentration of solvent and calcination temperature. Anatase crystallite size of 10 nm was obtained at mole ratio of solvent/precursor 50/1 and calcination temperature of 450 °C. The prepared nano-sized titania gel was embedded within the core (commercial TiO2, P25) during the spraying process. The prepared TiO2 microsphere was characterized using X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), field emission electron microscope (FESEM) and micropore analysis. The photocatalytic activity was monitored by following the degradation of phenol with activity benchmarked against commercial P25 (Degussa). The increase of photocatalytic activity of TiO2 microsphere was attributed to the nano-sized anatase crystallite which has been incorporated into the TiO2 microsphere.  相似文献

TiO2 materials with a hierarchical meso/macropore organization were fabricated by using titanium dioxide nanoparticles and starch gel templates. Starch sponges with high internal macroporosities were prepared by freezing and thawing of starch gels and were then infiltrated with colloidal suspensions of titania nanoparticles and air-dried to produce TiO2-starch foams with pores up to 200 m across depending on the starch concentration and the TiO2 loading. The TiO2 nanoparticles were deposited as coherent layers on the thin walls of the starch framework, which was removed by calcination without significant disruption of the TiO2 framework. The three dimensional macroporous structures of TiO2-starch sponge composite and TiO2 sponge induced extremely high photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

The uniform transparent TiO2/SiO2 nanometer composite thin films were prepared via sol-gel method on the soda lime glass substrates, and were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), FTIR spectroscopy, UV-VIS spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and BET surface areas. It was found that the addition of SiO2 to TiO2 thin films could suppress the grain growth of TiO2 crystal and increase the hydroxyl content of the surface of TiO2 films. The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared TiO2/SiO2 composite thin films increases for SiO2 content of less than 5 mol%.  相似文献

Among the great number of sol-gel materials prepared, TiO2 holds one of the most important places due to its photocatalytic properties, both in the case of powders and coatings. Impurity doping is one of the typical approaches to extend the spectral response of a wide band gap semiconductor to visible light. This work has studied some un-doped and Pd-doped sol-gel TiO2 nanopowders, presenting various surface morphologies and structures. The obtained powders have been embedded in vitreous TiO2 matrices and the corresponding coatings have been prepared by dipping procedure, on glass substrates. The relationship between the synthesis conditions and the properties of titania nanosized materials, such as thermal stability, phase composition, crystallinity, morphology and size of particles, and the influence of dopant was investigated. The influence of Pd on TiO2 crystallization both for supported and unsupported materials was studied (lattice parameters, crystallite sizes, internal strains). The hydrophilic properties of the films were also connected with their structure, composition and surface morphology. The methods used for the characterization of the materials have been: simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy (TEM, SAED) and AFM.  相似文献

The present paper reviews in detail the different studies now being conducted by our research team concerning the ultradeep hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of dibenzothiophene (DBT) derivatives over Mo/TiO2 and Mo/TiO2–Al2O3 catalysts. First, a detailed characterization of Mo/TiO2 (P-25 Degussa, 50 m2/g) catalysts prepared by equilibrium adsorption technique shows that Mo- species are highly and uniformly dispersed on the surface of titania up to 6.6 wt% MoO3 loading. Above this value, some aggregation of Mo occurs, leading to the formation of bulk MoO3. Below 6.6 wt% MoO3 loading, the Raman spectroscopy data of the calcined samples show that the supported Mo-species possess a highly distorted octahedral MoO6 structure. TiO2–Al2O3 composites were prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using TiCl4 as a precursor. Using several characterization techniques, we demonstrated that the support composite presents a high dispersion of TiO2 over -Al2O3 without forming precipitates up to ca. 11 wt% loading. Moreover, the textural properties of the composite support are comparable to those of alumina. Under the present sulfidation conditions (673 K, 5%H2S/95%H2), Mo-species supported on TiO2 are better sulfided than on alumina, as demonstrated using XPS. This can be attributed to the relatively lower interaction between Mo-species and titania. The state of sulfide species supported on the composite support can be considered as a transition state between TiO2 and Al2O3. However, at relatively higher TiO2 loadings (ca. 11 wt%), Mo/TiO2–Al2O3 catalysts exhibit sulfidability similar to that of Mo/TiO2. The HDS tests conducted in both the laboratory and in industry show that sulfide catalysts supported on TiO2–Al2O3 (ca. 11 wt% TiO2) are more active than those supported on TiO2 or Al2O3.  相似文献

Optically active polyurethane/titania/silica (LPU/TiO2/SiO2) multilayered core–shell composite microspheres were prepared by the combination of titania deposition on the surface of silica spheres and subsequent polymer grafting. LPU/TiO2/SiO2 was characterized by FT-IR, UV–vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), SEM and TEM, and the infrared emissivity value (8–14 μm) was investigated in addition. The results indicated that titania and polyurethane had been successfully coated onto the surfaces of silica microspheres. LPU/TiO2/SiO2 exhibited clearly multilayered core–shell construction. The infrared emissivity values reduced along with the increase of covering layers thus proved that the interfacial interactions had direct influence on the infrared emissivity. Besides, LPU/TiO2/SiO2 multilayered microspheres based on the optically active polyurethane took advantages of the orderly secondary structure and strengthened interfacial synergistic actions. Consequently, it possessed the lowest infrared emissivity value.  相似文献

TiO2 photoelectrodes with various nanostructures have been successfully prepared by the anodization method. The morphology, microstructure and optical properties of as-prepared photoelectrodes were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet/visible light diffuse reflectance spectra (UV/vis/DRS), surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS) and photocurrent. The electronic structure and optical properties of La doped/undoped TiO2 photoelectrodes with different crystal structures were calculated by the density function theory. The photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic activities of as-prepared photoelectrodes were evaluated. The results showed that the anodization potentials played a crucial role in the surface morphology and microstructure. Both results of theoretical calculations and experimental tests demonstrated that La-doped photoelectrodes were more sensitive to light than undoped one. The difference of photoelectrodes performance was ascribed to the crystal configuration, impurity energy levels and long-range orientation moving of photogenerated carriers.  相似文献

Pristine and WO3 decorated TiO2 nanorods (NRs) were synthesised to investigate n-n-type heterojunction gas sensing properties. TiO2 NRs were fabricated via hydrothermal method on fluorine-doped tin oxide coated glass (FTO) substrates. Then, tungsten was sputtered on the TiO2 NRs and thermally oxidised to obtain WO3 nanoparticles. The heterostructure was characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. Fabricated sensor devices were exposed to VOCs such as toluene, xylene, acetone and ethanol, and humidity at different operation temperatures. Experimental results demonstrated that the heterostructure has better sensor response toward ethanol at 200 °C. Enhanced sensing properties are attributed to the heterojunction formation by decorating TiO2 NRs with WO3.  相似文献

The nanosized titania and TiO2/SiO2 particles were prepared by the microwave-hydrothermal method. The effect of physical properties TTIP/TEOS ratio and calcination temperature has been investigated. The major phase of the pure TiO2 particle is of the anatase structure, and a rutile peak was observed above 800°C. In TiO2/SiO2 particles, however, no significant rutile phase was observed, although the calcination temperature was 900°C. No peaks for the silica crystal phase were observed at either silica/titania ratio. The crystallite size of TiO2/SiO2 particles decreases as compared to pure TiO2 at high calcination temperatures. The TiO2/SiO2 particles show higher activity on the photocatalytic decomposition of orange II as compared to pure TiO2 particles.

In this work core/shell composite polymer/TiO2 nanofibers and from those TiO2 nanotubes were prepared. First, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) fibers were synthetized by electrospinning. They were covered with a 100 nm thick amorphous TiO2 layer by atomic layer deposition at 50 °C. Later the polymer core was removed by two different methods: dissolution and annealing. In the case of dissolution in water, the as-prepared TiO2 nanotubes remained amorphous, while when annealing was used to remove the polymers, the TiO2 crystallized in anatase form. Due to this, the properties of amorphous and crystalline TiO2 nanotubes with exactly the same structure and morphology could be compared. The samples were investigated by SEM-EDX, ATR-IR, UV-Vis, XRD and TG/DTA-MS. Finally, the photocatalytic properties of the TiO2 nanotubes were studied by decomposing methyl-orange dye under UV light. According to the results, crystalline anatase TiO2 nanotubes reached the photocatalytic performance of P25, while amorphous TiO2 nanotubes had observable photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Commercial TiO2 (Hombikat, UV-100) was impregnated with different loadings of zinc nitrate solution and subsequently calcined at different temperatures in order to obtain a stable homogeneous solid composite of ZnO/TiO2. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), UV-vis and Raman spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy (ICP), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) as well as N2 adsorption and desorption measurements. Results show that ZnO was incorporated within the TiO2 crystals and did not form a separate bulky phase or metallic zinc. Moreover, the calcination temperature dramatically modifies the texture properties of the prepared samples compared with original Hombikat TiO2. The photocatalytic performance of the prepared samples was evaluated by monitoring the degradation of methyl orange dye under black light illumination. Three main parameters were studied; ZnO loading, surface area and initial pH of the methyl orange solution. The variation in ZnO loading appears to have less influence on the catalytic activity than either the surface area or the pH.  相似文献

We studied homogeneous liquid crystal (LC) alignment properties on ion-beam (IB) irradiated TiO2 films deposited by the electron beam evaporation method. Stable homogeneous LC alignment on a TiO2 surface resulted from IB irradiation energy over 1800 eV. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses showed that Ti4+ 2p3/2 and Ti4+ 2p1/2 peaks were increased with increasing IB energy. Assuming that the increased peaks produced anisotropy dipole fields in the direction of the IB exposure process, we confirmed that the increasing IB energy induced strengthened the surface energy for entirely clear and stable LC molecule orientation. The voltage-transmittance characteristics of the twisted-nematic cell on the TiO2 surface indicate that the TiO2 film has potential for use as the LC alignment layer.  相似文献

Sol-gel TiO2-CeO2 materials were synthesized at pH=3 employing HNO3 as hydrolysis agent. Gels were thermally treated at 473, 673, 873, and 1073 K, respectively. Morphologies of the final substrates were studied via N2 sorption, XRD and TEM. N2 isotherms indicated a steady porosity in TiO2-CeO2 samples treated up to 873 K. Adsorption-desorption isotherms and TEM micrographs were used to perform fractal analyses of annealed samples. A dominant anatase phase was detected by XRD between 473 and 873 K while a rutile phase was evident at 1073 K. The presence of cerium conferred an increased thermal stability to the TiO2 materials against particle sintering and pore collapse. The structure of cerium-doped anatase lattice was visualized through crystal simulation to investigate the possible substitution of Ti4+ by Ce+4 ions. This effect and the progressive segregation of CeO2 crystals with temperature on the surface of TiO2 grains lead to substrates of assorted morphologies.  相似文献

TiO2−SiO2 fibres with 0, 5, 10 and 20 volume % SiO2 have been prepared by drawing from a gel followed by sintering at different temperatures. Nearly one meter long fibres can be drawn easily in conditions of about 50% relative humidity. Addition of SiO2 inhibits the crystallisation of TiO2 and also the anatase → rutile transformation and improves the strength of the fibres. While the pure TiO2 fibres are brittle, those with 5, 10 and 20 volume % SiO2 are flexible and strong. Tensile strength values as high as 3 GPa have been achieved in the 10 volume % SiO2−TiO2 fibres. Fibres heated above 900°C are brittle. The shape of the cross section of the fibres is found to depend on their diameters.  相似文献

Pyrolysis of mixed titanium and silicon metal halides produces a commercial glass (7.4% TiO2) with ultra-low thermal expansion that is essentially zero over the temperature range of 0 to 300°C. A colloidal particulate gel process involving potassium silicate, titania sol and formamide gel reagent was found to produce glass compositions with similar low expansion behavior. Due to the strongly basic nature of the precursor solutions, special titania sols had to be prepared that were stable in these alkali silicate solutions. The preferred TiO2 sols were those containing quaternary ammonium stabilizing counter-ions. These sols served not only as the source of homogeneously distributed titania, but they may also serve as nucleating species that contribute to particle growth and pore size control of the gel network. The large pore (0.3 µm) TiO2/SiO2 gel structures were easily dealkalized, dried and sintered to uncracked glass shapes. Plates up to 9.5 cm×6.6 cm× 0.5 cm thick and some intricate cast shapes were produced and their glass properties evaluated.  相似文献

The porous TiO2 microspheres were prepared by the reversed-phase suspension polymerization and sol-gel method using reversed-phase suspension droplets as the templates. The CO oxidation catalytic properties of the CuO/TiO2 catalysts prepared by hydrothermal method and impregnation method were extensively investigated. The structure of CuO/TiO2 catalysts was determined by TG-DTA, XRD, TEM, and XPS. The results indicated that the redox capacity of CuO/TiO2 was greatly depended on the aqueous solution concentration of Cu(NO3)2 used in the preparation of CuO/TiO2 and the calcination temperature of the CuO/TiO2 catalysts.  相似文献

In this study, we report the synthesis of hierarchical chlorine-doped rutile TiO2 spherical clusters of nanorods photocatalyst on a large scale via a soft interface approach. This catalyst showed much higher photocatalytic activity than the famous commercial titania (Degussa P25) under visible light (λ>420 nm). The resulting sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), nitrogen adsorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, 1H solid magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS-NMR) and photoluminescence spectroscopy. On the basis of characterization results, we found that the doping of chlorine resulted in red shift of absorption and higher surface acidity as well as crystal defects in the photocatalyst, which were the reasons for high photocatalytic activity of chlorine-doped TiO2 under visible light (λ>420 nm). These hierarchical chlorine-doped rutile TiO2 spherical clusters of nanorods are very attractive in the fields of environmental pollutants removal and solar cell because of their easy separation and high activity.  相似文献

An amorphous TiO2 gel was obtained by hydrolysing titanium(IV) isopropoxide with a stoichiometric amount of water using SnCl2 as catalyst. In these operative conditions, a TiO2 gel matrix containing a lower fraction of organic residual was obtained with respect to samples prepared by previously modifying the titanium alkoxide precursor with chelating ligands. Dried gel powders were characterized by N2 adsorption analyses, FT-IR and XRD measurements. Thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) coupled with mass spectrometric (MS) and gas chromatographic (GC) measurements were performed in order to identify the organic products released from TiO2 gel pyrolysis. The Tg-MS semiquantitative analysis of the main evolved species allowed to describe both the chemical composition of the initial TiO2 gel and the chemical rearrangements occurring in the matrix during heating up to its crystallisation to anatase form at 420°C.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献
