Poly(methyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate-tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane) (PMGT) copolymers were obtained by copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and a chelating monomer, glycidyl methacrylate-tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (GMA-Tris), with potassium persulfate as an initiator. The glass transition temperature (Tg) and the proton spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame () substantiated the formation of random copolymers. Borate-loaded PMGT (BPMGT) complexes were prepared by mixing PMGT and boric acid solution. The formation of coordination bond between PMGT and borate was studied using differential scanning calorimetry, infrared and 13C solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. A single composition dependent Tg was obtained for the PMGT copolymers. The Tg value of BPMGT complex was much higher than that of PMGT copolymer with the same composition. The of the main chains in the PMGT copolymers and BPMGT complexes had one value, and that in the complexes was higher than that in the copolymers. The apparent activation energy (Ea) of the thermo-oxidative degradation of Tris units in complexes was larger than that in copolymers, whereas the Ea value of the MMA-GMA matrix was reversed.  相似文献

In this study, swelling behavior and mechanical properties of polyelectrolyte cationic hydrogels of poly((2-dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA), and poly((2-dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate-co-butyl methacrylate) (P(DMAEMA-co-BMA)), were investigated. Hydrogels were prepared by free-radical solution copolymerization of DMAEMA and BMA using ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinking agent. Compression-strain measurements were used to analyze the mechanical properties of the hydrogels. It was found that increasing the amount of BMA comonomer in the gel structure increases the compression modulus of the material. The results of mechanical measurements were used to characterize the network structure of the hydrogels, namely the effective crosslinking density (. It was found that exceeds the theoretical crosslinking density (νt) calculated from the initial amount of EGDMA used for hydrogel synthesis. These hydrogels demonstrated dual sensitivity to both pH and temperature. It was shown that the pH-sensitive or temperature-sensitive phase transition behavior of the gels can be changed by changing the temperature or pH of the swelling medium at constant hydrogel composition. Increasing the temperature decreased the transition pH of the pH-sensitive phase transition. On the other hand, increasing the pH of the surrounding medium decreased the transition temperature of the temperature-sensitive phase transition. Incorporation of BMA in the gel structure has a significant effect on the transition point of the gel. Increasing the BMA content reduced the transition pH and temperature of the pH- and temperature-sensitive phase transition, respectively. The similar effect of increasing temperature or BMA content can be explained by the role of hydrophobicity in the phase transition behavior of hydrogels. Finally, the results of equilibrium swelling and compression-strain measurements were used to calculate the polymer-solvent interaction parameters of these hydrogels using the Flory-Rehner equation of equilibrium swelling.  相似文献

Comb copolymers consisting of polystyrene backbone and poly(tert-butyl (meth)acrylate) side chains were synthesized by combination of nitroxide (TEMPO)-mediated polymerization (NMP) and photoinduced grafting from macro-iniferters. First, poly(chloromethylstyrene), PCMS, with the degree of polymerization and two random poly(styrene-co-chloromethylstyrene) copolymers, P(S-co-CMS), with similar but different content (8 and 14 mol%) of CMS units, were synthesized by NMP. In the second step the CMS units both in the homopolymer and the copolymers were converted to N,N-diethyldithiocarbamyl groups (DC) yielding photosensitive multifunctional macro-iniferters. Finally, tert-butyl methacrylate tBuMA was grafted from the synthesized polymer backbones by iniferter technique under UV-irradiation yielding copolymers polystyrene-graft-poly(tert-butyl methacrylate) PS-g-P(tBuMA). Grafting initiated by the macro-iniferters containing ∼6-11 DC initiating sites per macromolecule proceeded by pseudo-living polymerization mechanism, i.e., the number-average molecular weight increased with conversion and the SEC traces were unimodal. In contrast, photo-polymerization initiated by highly functionalized polystyrene backbone was poorly controlled. Hydrolysis of loosely grafted copolymers PS-g-P(tBuMA) afforded amphiphilic copolymers polystyrene-graft-poly(methacrylic acid). Molecular parameters of the synthesized graft copolymers in dilute THF solutions were determined by scattering (DLS, SLS, SAXS) and viscometric measurements.  相似文献

The photolytic and photocatalytic degradation of the copolymers poly(methyl methacrylate-co-butyl methacrylate) (MMA-BMA), poly(methyl methacrylate-co-ethyl acrylate) (MMA-EA) and poly(methyl methacrylate-co-methacrylic acid) (MMA-MAA) have been carried out in solution in the presence of solution combustion synthesized TiO2 (CS TiO2) and commercial Degussa P-25 TiO2 (DP 25). The degradation rates of the copolymers were compared with the respective homopolymers. The copolymers and the homopolymers degraded randomly along the chain. The degradation rate was determined using continuous distribution kinetics. For all the polymers, CS TiO2 exhibited superior photo-activity compared to the uncatalysed and DP 25 systems, owing to its high surface hydroxyl content and high specific surface area. The time evolution of the hydroxyl and hydroperoxide stretching vibration in the Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectra of the copolymers indicated that the degradation rate follows the order MMA-MAA > MMA-EA > MMA-BMA. The same order is observed for the rate coefficients of photocatalytic degradation. The photodegradation rate coefficients were compared with the activation energy of pyrolytic degradation. In degradation by pyrolysis, it was observed that MMA-BMA was the least stable followed by MMA-EA and MMA-MAA. The observed contrast in the order of thermal stability compared to the photo-stability of these copolymers was attributed to the two different mechanisms governing the scission of the polymer and the evolution of the products.  相似文献

Optically active poly[triphenylmethyl methacrylate-co-phenyl[bis(2-pyridyl)]methyl methacrylate] (poly[TrMA-co-PB2PyMA], poly[diphenyl(2-pyridyl)methyl methacrylate-co-phenyl[bis(2-pyridyl)]methyl methacrylate] (poly[D2PyMA-co-PB2PyMA]), and poly[triphenylmethyl methacrylate-co-diphenyl(2-pyridyl)-methyl methacrylate] (poly[TrMA-co-D2PyMA]) were prepared by helix-sense-selective copolymerization with complexes of organolithium with (−)-sparteine [(−)Sp],(S, S)-(+)- and (R, R)-(−)-2,3-dimethoxy-1,4-bis(dimethylamino)butane [(+)- and (−)DDB], and (S)-(+)-2-(1-pyrrolidinylmethyl)pyridine [(+)PMP] as anionic initiators in toluene at low temperature. The copolymers obtained with (−)Sp and (+)DDB or (−)DDB complexes of organolithium showed low optical activity, but to [(+)PMP] complex with N,N′-diphenyleneamine monolithium amide [(+)PMP–DPEDA–Li)] was effective in synthesizing copolymers of high optical rotation ([α] about +320 to + 370°) which were comparable to those of corresponding homopolymers with one-handed helical structure. The optical rotations of poly[TrMA-co-PB2PyMA] and poly[TrMA-co-D2PyMA] were much more stable than that of poly(D2PyMA) or poly(PB2PyMA) in a solution of CHCl3–2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (10 : 1, v/v) at 25°C, but optical rotation of poly[D2PyMA-co-PB2PyMA] slowly decreased with time in the same conditions. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The triblock copolymer poly(ϵ‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly[(methyl methacrylate)‐co‐styrene]‐block‐poly(ϵ‐caprolactone) was synthesized by a combination of coordination polymerization and controlled radical mechanism. The poly(ϵ‐caprolactone) prepolymers (PCLBP) were first obtained by coordination polymerization using benzopinacol as the initiator and aluminium triisopropoxide as the promoter at room temperature. It was determined by means of UV and NMR spectroscopy that the benzopinacolate groups are left intact in the PCLBP prepolymers; no isomerization was found. The benzopinacolate groups incorporated into the poly(ϵ‐caprolactone) then initiate the copolymerization of styrene (St) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) via a controlled radical mechanism at 95°C. The desired block copolymers were characterized by GPC, IR, UV and NMR spectroscopy in detail.  相似文献

A double thermoresponsive ABC-type triblock copolymer(poly(ethyleneglycol)-block-poly(2-(2-methoxyethoxy) ethyl methacrylate)-block-poly(2-(2-methoxy ethoxy) ethyl methacrylate-co-oligo(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate, PEG-b-PMEO_2MA-b-P(MEO_2MA-co-OEGMA)) was designed and synthesized by reversible additionfragmentation chain transfer polymerization(RAFT). The ABC-type triblock copolymer endowed a thermal-induced twostep phase transition at 29 and 39 °C, corresponding to the thermosensitive properties of PMEO_2 MA and P(MEO_2MA-coOEGMA) segments, respectively. The two-step self-assembly of copolymer solutions was studied by UV transmittance measurement, dynamic light scattering(DLS), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and so on. The triblock copolymers showed the distinct thermosensitive behavior with respect to transition temperatures, aggregate type and size, which was correlated to the degree of polymerization of thermosensitive blocks and the molar fraction of OEGMA in the P(MEO_2MAco-OEGMA) segments. In addition, micelles could further aggregate to form the hydrogel by the self-associate of PEG chains under the abduction of the concentration and temperature. The transition from sol to gel was investigated by a test tube inverting method and dynamic rheological measurement.  相似文献

Syntheses of poly(ethylene adipate) (ROP-PEA) and poly(ethylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (ROP-PEA-co-PET) were achieved via ring-opening polymerization of corresponding cyclic oligoesters. In case of ROP-PEA, cyclic oligo(ethylene adipate) (C-OEA) was equilibrated in the presence of di-n-butyltin oxide as a catalyst under high-concentration conditions at 180 and 200 °C for 1-24 h. The polymer products were obtained in yields up to 100% with the and in the ranges of 3000-23 000 g/mol and 5000-60 000 g/mol, respectively. The ROP-PEA-co-PET was prepared by equilibrating an equimolar amount of C-OEA and cyclic oligo(ethylene terephthalate) (C-OET) using di-n-butyltin oxide catalyst under high-concentration conditions at 250 °C for 24 h. The copolyester produced was obtained in yield of 97% with the and of 18 000 and 46 000 g/mol, respectively. 1H NMR spectrum of ROP-PEA-co-PET showed two new proton signals of ethylene unit representing the existence of heterolinkage with different chemical environment in the copolymer. This indicated the random transesterification of C-OEA and C-OET resulting in random structure in copolyester. In addition, the result of ROP-PEA-co-PET from DSC showed the glass transition temperature in the values of −8 °C with no melting temperature indicating thermoplastic elastomeric behavior.  相似文献

Amphiphilic triblock copolymers of poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA-b-PEO-b-PMMA) with well-defined structure were synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of methyl methacrylate (MMA) initiated by the PEO macroinitiator. The macroinitiator and triblock copolymer with different PMMA and/or PEO block lengths were characterized with 1H and 13C NMR and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The micelle formed by these triblock copolymers in aqueous solutions was detected by fluorescence excitation and emission spectra of pyrene probe. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) ranged from 0.0019 to 0.016 mg/mL and increased with increasing PMMA block length, while the PEO block length had less effect on the CMC. The partition constant Kv for pyrene in the micelle and in aqueous solution was about 105. The triblock copolymer appeared to form the micelles with hydrophobic PMMA core and hydrophilic PEO loop chain corona. The hydrodynamic radius Rh,app of the micelle measured with dynamic light scattering (DLS) ranged from 17.3 to 24.0 nm and increased with increasing PEO block length to form thicker corona. The spherical shape of the micelle of the triblock copolymers was observed with an atomic force microscope (AFM). Increasing hydrophobic PMMA block length effectively promoted the micelle formation in aqueous solutions, but the micelles were stable even only with short PMMA blocks.  相似文献

The new functional styrenic monomer, 4-trisylmethyl styrene (TsiMS) [Tsi=trisyl=tris(trimethylsilyl)methyl], was synthesized by reacting 4-chloromethyl styrene (CMS) with trisyllithium (TsiLi) in tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent in the presence of copper chloride (CuCl). Attempt for the free radical polymerization of TsiMS by α,α-azobis(isobutyronitrile) (AIBN) as an initiator at 70 ± 1 °C failed for several periods of times. This result showed that the trisyl group is a highly sterically hindered substituent and, subsequently, TsiMS becomes resistant for polymerization. Therefore, for preparation of new methacrylic, acrylic and dienic copolymers of TsiMS, we firstly synthesized the copolymers of CMS with different monomers such as methyl methacrylate (MMA), ethyl methacrylate (EMA), methyl acrylate (MA), ethyl acrylate (EA), n-butyl acrylate (BA) and isoprene (IP) by free radical polymerization method in toluene solution at 70 ± 1 °C using AIBN initiator to give the copolymers I-VI in good yields. The copolymer compositions were obtained using related 1H NMR spectra and the polydispersity indices of the copolymers determined using gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The trisyl groups were then covalently attached to the obtained copolymers as side chains by reaction between excess of TsiLi and benzyl chloride bonds of CMS units, to give the copolymers - in 80-92% yields. All the resulted polymers were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopic techniques. The solubility of all the copolymers was examined in various polar and non-polar solvents. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of all copolymers was determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) apparatus. The Tg value of copolymers containing bulky trisyl groups was found to increase with incorporation of trisyl groups in polymer structures. The presence of trisyl groups in polymer side chains, create new macromolecules with novel modified properties.  相似文献

Dendrimer-like copolymers with two and three generations, (polystyrene)3-b-(poly(l-lactide))6 (PSt3-b-PLLA6) and PSt3-b-PLLA6-b-PSt12 have been successfully prepared using core-first method. The first step of this synthesis is the preparation of three-armed PSt by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of St using 1,1,1-tri(methylene-α-bromoisobutyryl)propane as initiator. Terminal divergence of the polymers obtained was achieved by the reaction of terminal bromines with branching agent, 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol. After deprotection, the polymer with six terminal hydroxyl groups was used in the ring-opening polymerization of LLA. The dendrimer-like copolymer with PLLA as a second generation diverged continuously by the reaction of 6 terminal hydroxyl groups with branching agent, 2,2-bis(methylene-α-bromoisobutyryl)propionyl chloride. The resultant polymer with 12 terminal bromines was used as macroinitiator in the ATRP of St to produce the target dendrimer-like copolymer, PSt3-b-PLLA6-b-PSt12. The structures of polymers obtained from each step were confirmed by their 1H NMR spectra and GPC measurements. DSC results show one for the three-armed PSt, , and for the dendrimer-like copolymer with two generations, C(PSt(PLLA)2)3, and , and for the copolymer with three generations, C(PSt(PLLA(PSt)2)2)3.  相似文献

New block copolymers with narrow molecular weight distribution based on (2,3-epithiopropylmethacrylate) (ETMA), methylmethacrylate (MMA) and n-butylmethacrylate (nBMA) have been successfully synthesized via reversible addition-fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerization. First, RAFT homopolymerization of ETMA and MMA was carried out using 2-(2-cyanopropyl) dithiobenzoate (CPDB) as the chain transfer agent (CTA) and 2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator. PETMA-b-P(nBMA) copolymers were synthesized using PETMA homopolymers as the macro-chain transfer agent (MCTA), while PMMA-b-PETMA diblock copolymers were synthesized using PMMA as the MCTA. The evolution of the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the homo- and co-polymers were compatible with the RAFT polymerization features. Thin films from the block copolymers were prepared by spin coating a 1 wt% polymer solution from toluene, chloroform or THF. After the preparation, the films were annealed under 80% vapor pressure of chloroform for 1, 2 and 4 h and investigated with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The most interesting results were found in the films prepared using PETMA-b-P(nBMA) copolymers (). The observed images suggested the formation of hybrid lamellar structures, ascribed to the combination of its higher molecular weight and solvents viscosity.  相似文献

Poly(methyl methacrylate-b-styrene) (PMMA-b-PS) block copolymers are synthesized by two consecutive ATRPs and fractionated into four fractions. The halogen chain end fidelity (CEF) in PMMA-b-PS is quantified based on the analysis of each fraction. Compared to ethyl 2-phenyl-2-bromoacetate/CuBr/2,2′-bipyridine (EPBA/CuBr/bpy) and CuBr/N,N,N′,N″,N″-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (CuBr/PMDETA) catalysts, PMMA-b-PS synthesized using p-toluenesulfonyl chloride/CuCl/bpy (TsCl/CuCl/bpy) and CuCl/PMDETA catalysts has a higher halogen CEF and a better control on molecular weight.  相似文献

Six amphiphilic star copolymers comprising hydrophilic units of 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) and hydrophobic units of methyl methacrylate (MMA) were prepared by the sequential group transfer polymerization (GTP) of the two comonomers and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) cross-linker. Four star-block copolymers of different compositions, one miktoarm star, and one statistical copolymer star were synthesized. The molecular weights (MWs) and MW distributions of all the star copolymers and their linear homopolymer and copolymer precursors were characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), while the compositions of the stars were determined by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy. Tetrahydrofuran (THF) solutions of all the star copolymers were characterized by static light scattering to determine the absolute weight-average MW () and the number of arms of the stars. The of the stars ranged between 359,000 and 565,000 g mol−1, while their number of arms ranged between 39 and 120. The star copolymers were soluble in acidic water at pH 4 giving transparent or slightly opaque solutions, with the exception of the very hydrophobic DMAEMA10-b-MMA30-star, which gave a very opaque solution. Only the random copolymer star was completely dispersed in neutral water, giving a very opaque solution. The effective pKs of the copolymer stars were determined by hydrogen ion titration and were found to be in the range 6.5-7.6. The pHs of precipitation of the star copolymer solutions/dispersions were found to be between 8.8-10.1, except for the most hydrophobic DMAEMA10-b-MMA30-star, which gave a very opaque solution over the whole pH range.  相似文献

In the reversible addition–fragmentation transfer (RAFT) copolymerization of two monomers, even with the simple terminal model, there are two kinds of macroradical and two kinds of polymeric RAFT agent with different R groups. Because the structure of the R group could exert a significant influence on the RAFT process, RAFT copolymerization may behave differently from RAFT homopolymerization. The RAFT copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and styrene (St) in miniemulsion was investigated. The performance of the RAFT copolymerization of MMA/St in miniemulsion was found to be dependent on the feed monomer compositions. When St is dominant in the feed monomer composition, RAFT copolymerization is well controlled in the whole range of monomer conversion. However, when MMA is dominant, RAFT copolymerization may be, in some cases, out of control in the late stage of copolymerization, and characterized by a fast increase in the polydispersity index (PDI). The RAFT process was found to have little influence on composition evolution during copolymerization. The synthesis of the well‐defined gradient copolymers and poly[St‐b‐(St‐co‐MMA)] block copolymer by RAFT miniemulsion copolymerization was also demonstrated. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract

Due to high chain transfer and the subsequent terminator properties of the dixanthogen moiety, (AB)n multiblock copolymers of poly(oxyethylene-block-methyl methacrylate) and ABA triblock copolymers of poly(methyl methacrylate-block-2-ethylhexyl acrylate) could be synthesized from dixanthogen-linked poly(oxyethylene) and poly(methyl methacrylate) pre-polymer sequences, respectively, using free-radical chemistry. A simple and efficient method was developed for the synthesis of dixanthogen-linked polymers: Hydroxyl-functionalized pre-polymers were reduced using NaH to form alkoxide; CS2 was then added to the alkoxide to form xanthate; and finally the xanthate was oxidized either in an aqueous or organic medium to form the dixanthogen. The synthesis techniques provided in this paper are general and thus, in principle, can be applied to many other block copolymer systems.  相似文献

Graft copolymers of natural rubber and poly(dimethyl(acryloyloxymethyl)phosphonate) (NR-g-PDMAMP), and natural rubber and poly(dimethyl(methacryloyloxyethyl)phosphonate) (NR-g-PDMMEP), were prepared in latex medium via a “grafting from” methodology based on the photopolymerization of dimethyl(acryloyloxymethyl)phosphonate (DMAMP) and dimethyl(methacryloyloxyethyl) phosphonate (DMMEP), respectively, used as phosphorus-containing monomers. The grafting polymerization was initiated from N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate groups previously bound in side position of the rubber chains. The effects of monomer concentration on monomer conversion and grafting rate were investigated, showing that conversion and grafting rate increased with increasing monomer concentration and reaction time. Highest conversions and grafting rates were obtained with a molar ratio [DMAMP]/[initiating units] = 7 for a reaction time of 180 min. Calculation of the graft average length () from 1H NMR spectra of the synthesized graft copolymers showed values were in the range of 9-73. Visualizations of NR-g-PDMAMP and NR-g-PDMMEP latices by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) showed that they exhibit core-shell morphologies. Degradation of NR-g-PDMAMP and NR-g-PDMMEP occurred in two steps: decomposition of dimethylphosphonate-functionalized grafts took place prior to the second step corresponding to the decomposition of NR backbone, but the degradation temperature of this last step was higher than that of pure NR.  相似文献
