The dependence of pyrene fluorescence spectra on the concentration of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was observed, where the solution was prepared from water saturated with pyrene. The values of the I(1)/I(3) ratio from the bulk solution and from the upper meniscus region in an optical cell were similar but decreased rapidly around the critical micelle concentration (cmc) of SDS, indicating that pyrene molecules preferred to be solubilized in the micelles having a lower dielectric constant. The fluorescence intensity of the excimer indicated the concentration of pyrene molecules at the air/solution interface or the surface activity of pyrene molecules. In addition, the intensity from the meniscus region is much larger than that from the bulk at the concentrations below the cmc, whereas there was no difference in the intensity between the bulk and the meniscus above 8 mmol dm(-3) of SDS. The analysis of the fluorescence intensity from the excimer strongly suggests the presence of molecular aggregates that are favorable to the pyrene molecules just like the micelles in the bulk, making them less movable.  相似文献

Molecular dynamics simulations were carried out to investigate the structural properties and the structure related optical properties of a pyrene-functionalized film and also the film in the presence of nitrobenzene. It has been shown that at equilibrium (1) the pyrene molecules of the film, of which the fluorophore molecules have been attached to a glass plate surface via relatively long flexible spacers, adopt quasi-coplanar structures; (2) the distance between a pair of pyrene rings populates from 4 A to longer than 10 A, but quite a large number of pyrene molecules populate within distances between 4 and 5 A, indicating that the fluorescence of the film should be characterized by both monomer emission and excimer emission; (3) introduction of nitrobenzene into the system results in a decrease of the population of pyrene molecules within the distances suitable for the formation of excimers, suggesting that excimer emission of the film would be decreased; and (4) the incoming nitrobenzene molecules insert themselves in between the previously formed coplanar structures of pyrene rings and form a complex with one of them. Considering that nitrobenzene is an electron-poor compound and nonfluorescent and that pyrene is an electron-rich one, it is expected that the formation of the complex must result in an excitation transfer from pyrene to nitrobenzene, provided that the distance between them and the orientations of them are reasonable. This indicates that the introduction of nitrobenzene not only decreases the number of excimers of pyrene but also quenches the monomer emission of the fluorophore. All the expectations from the simulation studies are basically consistent with the experimental observations.  相似文献

A novel series of pyrene dendronized porphyrins bearing two and four pyrenyl groups (Py(2)-TMEG1 and Py(4)-TMEG2) were successfully synthesized. First and second generation Fréchet type dendrons (Py(2)-G1OH and Py(4)-G2OH) were prepared from 1-pyrenylbutanol and 3,5-dihydroxybenzyl alcohol. These compounds were further linked to a trimesitylphenylporphyrin containing a butyric acid spacer via an esterification reaction to obtain the desired products. Dendrons and dendronized porphyrins were fully characterized by FTIR and (1)H NMR spectroscopy and their molecular weights were determined by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry. Their optical and photophysical properties were studied by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies. The formation of dynamic excimers was detected in the pyrene-labeled dendrons, with more excimer being produced in the higher generation dendron. The fluorescence spectra of the pyrene dendronized porphyrins exhibited a significant decrease in the amount of pyrene monomer and excimer emission, jointly with the appearance of a new emission band at 661 nm characteristic of porphyrin emission, an indication that fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) occurred from one of the excited pyrene species to the porphyrin. The FRET efficiency was found to be almost quantitative ranging between 97% and 99% depending on the construct. Model Free analysis of the fluorescence decays acquired with the pyrene monomer, excimer, and porphyrin core established that only residual pyrene excimer formation in the dendrons could occur before FRET from the excited pyrene monomer to the ground-state porphyrin core.  相似文献

Interactions and characteristics of 0.1% bovine serum albumin (BSA)-sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in 20 mM phosphate buffer solution were investigated by means of fluorescence spectroscopy and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. In BSA-SDS system, the intensity ratio, Im3/Im1, of the third vibronic band of the pyrene monomer to the first vibronic band showed a small peak at about 0.1 mM SDS in the phosphate buffer below cmc. In accordance with this Im3/Im1 ratio, the intensity ratio, Ie/Im1, of fluorescence from the pyrene excimer to that from the monomer showed a pseudo-plateau (0.08-0.8 mM) and suggested the existence of micelle-like aggregates below the cmc. Temperature dependence of ln(Ie/Im1) in pyrene fluorescence in the SDS-BSA system was examined as a function of SDS concentration. The activation energy of pyrene diffusion for excimer formation in a micelle was estimated to be 19.2 kJ mol(-1) for the BSA-SDS system. ESR spectra of 5-doxylstearic acid (5-DSA) showed that the probe location is restricted at SDS concentrations above the cmc, and that the probe also is highly restricted in motion for BSA-bound SDS micelles.  相似文献

A novel seed-assisted chemical reaction at 95 degrees C has been employed to synthesize uniform, straight, thin, and single-crystalline ZnO nanorods on a hectogram scale. The molar ratio of ZnO seed and zinc source plays a critical role in the preparation of thin ZnO nanorods. At a low molar ratio of ZnO seed and zinc source, javelin-like ZnO nanorods consisting of thin ZnO nanorods with a diameter of 100 nm and thick ZnO nanorods with a diameter of 200 nm have been obtained. In contrast, straight ZnO nanorods with a diameter of about 20 nm have been prepared. Dispersants such as poly(vinyl alcohol) act spatial obstructors to control the length of ZnO nanorods. The morphology, structure, and optical property of the ZnO nanostructures prepared under different conditions have been characterized by transmission electron microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and cathodoluminescence. The formation mechanisms for the synthesized nanostructures with different morphologies have been phenomenologically presented.  相似文献

New cyclen (1,4,7,10-teraazacyclododecane) cored dendrimers up to the second generation, functionalized with 4, 8 and 16 pyrene units, respectively, were synthesized following a convergent procedure. All new compounds were characterized by NMR spectroscopies and ESI or MALDI TOF mass spectrometry. The optical and photophysical properties of the new dendrimers were studied in THF solution. Absorption spectra showed the typical absorption bands of pyrene moieties. In the fluorescence spectra, monomer as well as excimer emission were observed for all compounds. An increased proportion of excimer emission was observed in the dendrimer of the highest generation.  相似文献

Herein, we describe the controlled growth of 1 dimensional germanium nanostructures from high aspect ratio nanowires (>10 microns in length) to shorter aspect nanorods (100 nm in length) via a simple pyrolysis method. The synthetic route involves the thermal decomposition of selected germanium precursors by dropping a solution in a high boiling point solvent directly onto a pre-heated Si wafer in the presence of a copper source under inert conditions.  相似文献

One dimensional nanostructures of cerium doped dysprosium phosphate (DyPO4:Ce3+) were synthesized via hydrothermal route in the presence of different surfactants [sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), dodecyl sulfosuccinate (DSS), polyvinyl pyrollidone (PVP)] and solvent [ethylene glycol and water]. The prepared nanostructures were characterized by Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), UV-VIS-NIR absorption spectrophotometer and photoluminescence (PL) studies. The PXRD and FTIR results indicate purity, good crystallinity and effective doping of Ce3+ in nanostructures. SEM and TEM micrographs display nanorods, nanowires and nanobundles like morphology of DyPO4:Ce3+. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectra (EDS) of DyPO4:Ce3+nanostructures confirm the presence of dopant. UV-VIS-NIR absorption spectra of prepared compounds are used to calculate band gap and explore their optical properties. Luminescent properties of DyPO4:Ce3+ was studied by using PL emission spectra. The effect of additives and solvents on the uniformity, morphology and optical properties of the nanostructures were studied in detail.  相似文献

A highly sensitive and selective fluorescence aptamer biosensors for the determination of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) was developed. Binding of a target with splitting aptamers labeled with pyrene molecules form stable pyrene dimer in the γ-cyclodextrin (γ-CD) cavity, yielding a strong excimer emission. We have found that inclusion of pyrene dimer in γ-cyclodextrin cavity not only exhibits additive increases in quantum yield and emission lifetime of the excimer, but also facilitates target-induced fusion of the splitting aptamers to form the aptamer/target complex. As proof-of-principle, the approach was applied to fluorescence detection of adenosine triphosphate. With an anti-ATP aptamer, the approach exhibits excimer fluorescence response toward ATP with a maximum signal-to-background ratio of 32.1 and remarkably low detection limit of 80 nM ATP in buffer solution. Moreover, due to the additive fluorescence lifetime of excimer induced by γ-cyclodextrin, time-resolved measurements could be conveniently used to detect as low as 0.5 μM ATP in blood serum quantitatively.  相似文献

ZnO nanorods were synthesized using the sol-gel method, and the effects of annealing temperature and Ce doping on the morphologies and optical properties of ZnO nanostructures were investigated in detail. The XRD measurements showed that the as-synthesized ZnO nanostructures had a hexagonal wurtzite structure. SEM images showed that uniform nanorods formed at 900 °C. Photoluminescence measurements showed an ultraviolet emission peak and a relatively broad visible light emission peak for the samples sintered at different temperatures. The UV emission peak bathochromically shifted when the annealing temperature rose from 850 to 1000 °C. Ce doping decreased the synthesized temperature of the ZnO nanorods to 500 °C, and the UV peaks hypsochromically shifted.  相似文献

A rational approach to the design of supramolecular organogels of all-trans oligo(p-phenylene vinylene) (OPV) derivatives, a class of well-known organic semiconductor precursors, is reported. Self-assembly of these molecules induced gelation of hydrocarbon solvents at low concentrations (<1 mM), resulting in high aspect ratio nanostructures. Electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM) studies revealed twisted and entangled supramolecular tapes of an average of 50-200 nm in width, 12-20 nm in thickness, and several micrometers in length. The hierarchical growth of the entangled tapes and the consequent gelation is attributed to the lamellar-type packing of the molecules, facilitated by cooperative hydrogen bonding, pi stacking, and van der Waals interactions between the OPV units. Gelation of OPVs induced remarkable changes in the absorption and emission properties, which indicated strong electronic interaction in the aggregated chromophores. Comparison of the absorption and emission spectra in the gel form and in the solid film indicated a similar chromophore organization in both phases. The presence of self-assembled aggregates of OPVs was confirmed by solvent- and temperature-dependent changes in the absorption and emission properties, and by selective excitation experiments. This is the first detailed report of the gelation-induced formation of OPV nanotapes, assisted by weak, nondirectional hydrogen-bonding motifs and pi-pi stacking. These findings may provide opportunities for the design of a new class of functional soft materials and nanoarchitectures, based on pi-conjugated organic semiconductor-type molecules, thereby enabling the manipulation of their optical properties.  相似文献

The performance of opto‐electronic devices built from low‐molecular‐weight dye molecules depends crucially on the stacking properties and the resulting coupling of the chromophoric systems. Herein we investigate the influence of H‐bonding amide and bulky substituents on the π‐stacking of pyrene‐containing small molecules in dilute solution, as supramolecular aggregates, and in the solid state. A set of four pyrene derivatives was synthesized in which benzene or 4‐tert‐butyl benzene was linked to the pyrene unit either through an ester or an amide. All four molecules form supramolecular H‐aggregates in THF solution at concentrations above 1×10?4 mol L?1. These aggregates were transferred on a solid support and crystallized. We investigate: the excimer formation rates within supramolecular aggregates; the formation of H‐bonds as well as the optical changes during the transition from the amorphous to the crystalline state; and the excimer to monomer fluorescence ratio in crystalline films at low temperatures. We reveal that in solution supramolecular aggregation depends predominantly on the pyrene chromophores. In the crystalline state, however, the pyrene stacking can be controlled gradually by H‐bonding and steric effects. These results are further confirmed by molecular modeling. This work bears fundamental information for tailoring the solid state of functional optoelectronic materials.  相似文献

Fluorescence properties of a diethylenetriamine bearing two end pyrene fragments (L) have been studied in water, where effects of adding metal cations (Zn2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Hg2+, Ag+) on the emission properties of L have been studied. Without metal cations, L shows dual-mode fluorescence consisting of monomer and excimer emissions. The monomer emission intensity (I(M)) is strong at acidic pH but decreases with a pH increase because of an electron transfer (ET) from the unprotonated nitrogen atoms to the excited pyrene fragment. The excimer emission is due to the static excimer formed via a direct photoexcitation of the intramolecular ground-state dimer (GSD) of the end pyrene fragments. The excimer emission intensity (I(E)) is weak at acidic pH but increases with a pH increase because of the GSD stability increase associated with the deprotonation of the polyamine chain. Addition of metal cations leads to I(M) decrease, where chelation-driven I(M) enhancement does not occur even with diamagnetic Zn2+ and Cd2+ at any pH. This is because a pyrene-metal cation pi-complex, formed via a donation of pi-electron of the pyrene fragment to the adjacent metal center, suppresses the monomer photoexcitation. I(E) also decreases upon addition of metal cations because the pyrene-metal cation pi-complex weakens pi-stacking interaction of the end pyrene fragments, leading to GSD stability decrease. The emission properties of L-Zn2+ complexes were studied by means of time-resolved fluorescence decay measurements, and the effects of adding a less-polar organic solvent were also studied to clarify the detailed emission properties.  相似文献

A simple and efficient alcohol thermal technique was applied to control the growth of the dimensions and morphology of ZnO nanostructures under mild conditions, where surfactant was not necessary. The size of ZnO nanocrystals increased with growth temperature and they transformed into nanorods with different aspect ratios through tuning the reaction time. The length of nanorods increased significantly with the reaction time, but their thickness only slightly increased. The as-prepared ZnO nanocrystals were monocrystalline and the growth orientation of ZnO nanorods was [001]. Photoluminescence measurements showed a blue shift in violet emission with a reduction in crystal size and revealed the quantum confinement effect. Electron irradiation induced structural damage was observed in the ZnO nanorods synthesized at 120 degrees C. Experimental results proved that the possible growth mechanism of ZnO nanostructures was oriented attachment.  相似文献

The self-assembly of oligo(o-phenylenediamine) (OPD) into 1-D nanostructures on a macroscopic length scale was found when they were transferred from N-methyl pyrrolidone to deionized water. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and confocal fluorescence microscopy were used to investigate the morphology of the precipitates. Results showed that large amounts of OPD 1-D supertructures could be obtained through the simple reprecipitation route, and the length of the fibers could be tuned from microscale to macroscale by adjusting the ratio of two solvents. X-ray diffraction patterns and UV-vis spectra revealed that pi-pi interactions between OPD molecules that facilitated the formation of 1-D structures became predominant when they were transferred from a good solvent to a bad one. Accordingly, a possible formation mechanism was proposed.  相似文献

The selection of nanoparticles for achieving efficient contrast for biological and cell imaging applications, as well as for photothermal therapeutic applications, is based on the optical properties of the nanoparticles. We use Mie theory and discrete dipole approximation method to calculate absorption and scattering efficiencies and optical resonance wavelengths for three commonly used classes of nanoparticles: gold nanospheres, silica-gold nanoshells, and gold nanorods. The calculated spectra clearly reflect the well-known dependence of nanoparticle optical properties viz. the resonance wavelength, the extinction cross-section, and the ratio of scattering to absorption, on the nanoparticle dimensions. A systematic quantitative study of the various trends is presented. By increasing the size of gold nanospheres from 20 to 80 nm, the magnitude of extinction as well as the relative contribution of scattering to the extinction rapidly increases. Gold nanospheres in the size range commonly employed ( approximately 40 nm) show an absorption cross-section 5 orders higher than conventional absorbing dyes, while the magnitude of light scattering by 80-nm gold nanospheres is 5 orders higher than the light emission from strongly fluorescing dyes. The variation in the plasmon wavelength maximum of nanospheres, i.e., from approximately 520 to 550 nm, is however too limited to be useful for in vivo applications. Gold nanoshells are found to have optical cross-sections comparable to and even higher than the nanospheres. Additionally, their optical resonances lie favorably in the near-infrared region. The resonance wavelength can be rapidly increased by either increasing the total nanoshell size or increasing the ratio of the core-to-shell radius. The total extinction of nanoshells shows a linear dependence on their total size, however, it is independent of the core/shell radius ratio. The relative scattering contribution to the extinction can be rapidly increased by increasing the nanoshell size or decreasing the ratio of the core/shell radius. Gold nanorods show optical cross-sections comparable to nanospheres and nanoshells, however, at much smaller effective size. Their optical resonance can be linearly tuned across the near-infrared region by changing either the effective size or the aspect ratio of the nanorods. The total extinction as well as the relative scattering contribution increases rapidly with the effective size, however, they are independent of the aspect ratio. To compare the effectiveness of nanoparticles of different sizes for real biomedical applications, size-normalized optical cross-sections or per micron coefficients are calculated. Gold nanorods show per micron absorption and scattering coefficients that are an order of magnitude higher than those for nanoshells and nanospheres. While nanorods with a higher aspect ratio along with a smaller effective radius are the best photoabsorbing nanoparticles, the highest scattering contrast for imaging applications is obtained from nanorods of high aspect ratio with a larger effective radius.  相似文献

We report here the synthesis and self-assembly of a series of three molecules with dendron rodcoil architecture that contain conjugated segments of oligo(thiophene), oligo(phenylene-vinylene), and oligo(phenylene). Despite their structural differences, all three molecules yield similar self-assembled structures. Electron and atomic force microscopy reveals the self-assembly of the molecules into high aspect ratio ribbon-like nanostructures which at low concentrations induce gelation in nonpolar solvent. Self-assembly results in a blue-shifted absorption spectrum and a red-shifted, quenched fluorescence spectrum, indicating aggregation of the conjugated segments within the ribbon-like structures. The assembly of these molecules into one-dimensional nanostructures is a route to pi-pi stacked supramolecular polymers for organic electronic functions. In the oligo(thiophene) derivative, self-assembly leads to a 3 orders of magnitude increase in the conductivity of iodine-doped films due to self-assembly. We also found that electric field alignment of these supramolecular assemblies can be used to create arrays of self-assembled nanowires on a device substrate.  相似文献

The shape anisotropy of nanorods gives rise to two distinct orientational modes by which nanorods can be assembled, i.e., end-to-end and side-by-side, analogous to the well-known H and J aggregation in organic chromophores. Optical absorption spectra of gold nanorods have earlier been observed to show a red-shift of the longitudinal plasmon band for the end-to-end linkage of nanorods, resulting from the plasmon coupling between neighboring nanoparticles, similar to the assembly of gold nanospheres. We observe, however, that side-by-side linkage of nanorods in solution shows a blue-shift of the longitudinal plasmon band and a red-shift of the transverse plasmon band. Optical spectra calculated using the discrete dipole approximation method were used to simulate plasmon coupling in assembled nanorod dimers. The longitudinal plasmon band is found to shift to lower energies for end-to-end assembly, but a shift to higher energies is found for the side-by-side orientation, in agreement with the optical absorption experiments. The strength of plasmon coupling was seen to increase with decreasing internanorod distance and an increase in the number of interacting nanorods. For both side-by-side and end-to-end assemblies, the strength of the longitudinal plasmon coupling increases with increasing nanorod aspect ratio as a result of the increasing dipole moment of the longitudinal plasmon. For both the side-by-side and end-to-end orientation, the simulation of a dimer of nanorods having dissimilar aspect ratios showed a longitudinal plasmon resonance with both a blue-shifted and a red-shifted component, as a result of symmetry breaking. A similar result is observed for a pair of similar aspect ratio nanorods assembled in a nonparallel orientation. The internanorod plasmon coupling scheme concluded from the experimental results and simulations is found to be qualitatively consistent with the molecular exciton coupling theory, which has been used to describe the optical spectra of H and J aggregates of organic molecules. The coupled nanorod plasmons are also suggested to be electromagnetic analogues of molecular orbitals. Investigation of the plasmon coupling in assembled nanorods is important for the characterization of optical excitations and plasmon propagation in these nanostructures. The surface plasmon resonance shift resulting from nanorod assembly also offers a promising alternative for analyte-sensing assays.  相似文献

A new pyrene-based fluorescent probe for the determination of critical micelle concentrations (CMC) is described. The title compound 1 is obtained in five steps, starting from pyrene. Fluorescence spectroscopic properties of 1 are studied in homogeneous organic solvents and aqueous micellar solutions. In a wide range of organic solvents, probe 1 exhibits a characteristic monomer emission of the pyrene fluorophore, with three distinct peak maxima at 382, 404, and 425 nm. The spectra change dramatically in aqueous solution, where no monomer emission of the pyrene fluorophore is detected. Instead, only strong excimer fluorescence with a broad, red-shifted emission band at lambda(max) = 465 nm is observed. In micellar aqueous solution, a superposition of the monomer and excimer emission is found. The appearance of the monomer emission in micellar solution can be explained on the basis of solubilization of 1 by the surfactant micelles. The ratio of the monomer to excimer fluorescence intensities of 1 is highly sensitive to changes in surfactant concentration. This renders 1 a versatile and sensitive probe molecule for studying the micellization of ionic and nonionic surfactants. For a representative selection of common surfactants, the critical micelle concentrations in aqueous solution are determined, showing excellent agreement with established literature data.  相似文献

Various diversified morphology-modulated ZnO nanostructures including nanorods, nanotetrahedrons, nanofans, nanodumbbells, and nanosquamas have been successfully prepared via an effective aminolytic reaction of zinc carboxylates with oleylamine in noncoordinating and coordinating solvents. Their shape- and structural defect-dependent optical properties have been investigated as well. Highly crystalline defect-free nanotetrahedrons/nanorods have a sharp band-edge emission, and highly defective nanodumbbells/nanosquamas show a very broad deep-trap emission, resulting from the radiative recombination of electrons with holes in singly ionized oxygen vacancies.  相似文献
