Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are attractive absorber materials for high‐efficiency photovoltaics because of their facile solution processing, bandgap tunability due to quantum confinement effect, and multi‐exciton generation. To date, all published performance records for PbS CQDs solar cells have been based on the conventional hot‐injection synthesis method. This method usually requires relatively strict conditions such as high temperature and the utility of expensive source material (pyrophoric bis(trimethylsilyl) sulfide (TMS‐S)), limiting the potential for large‐scale and low‐cost synthesis of PbS CQDs. Here we report a facile room‐temperature synthetic method to produce high‐quality PbS CQDs through inexpensive ionic source materials including Pb(NO3)2 and Na2S in the presence of triethanolamine (TEA) as the stabilizing ligand. The PbS CQDs were successfully prepared with an average particle size of about 5 nm. Solar cells based on the as‐synthesized PbS CQDs show a preliminary power conversion efficiency of 1.82%. This room‐temperature and low‐cost synthesis of PbS CQDs will further benefit the development of solution‐processed CQD solar cells.  相似文献

A sub‐monolayer CdS shell on PbS quantum dots (QDs) enhances triplet energy transfer (TET) by suppressing competitive charge transfer from QDs to molecules. The CdS shell increases the linear photon upconversion quantum yield (QY) from 3.5 % for PbS QDs to 5.0 % for PbS/CdS QDs when functionalized with a tetracene acceptor, 5‐CT . While transient absorption spectroscopy reveals that both PbS and PbS/CdS QDs show the formation of the 5‐CT triplet (with rates of 5.91±0.60 ns−1 and 1.03±0.09 ns−1 respectively), ultrafast hole transfer occurs only from PbS QDs to 5‐CT . Although the CdS shell decreases the TET rate, it enhances TET efficiency from 60.3±6.1 % to 71.8±6.2 % by suppressing hole transfer. Furthermore, the CdS shell prolongs the lifetime of the 5‐CT triplet and thus enhances TET from 5‐CT to the rubrene emitter, further bolstering the upconverison QY.  相似文献

Two novel side chain polymeric metal complexes (PFT‐Cd and PFT‐Zn) have been designed, synthesized, and characterized. These polymers were found to be good thermally stable and high glass transitions temperature, which indicate that these polymers could be applied as photovoltaic materials for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The obtained polymers exhibited good photovoltaic property. The DSSCs based on the PFT‐Cd and PFT‐Zn exhibited a maximum solar‐to‐electricity conversion efficiency (η) up to 3.37% (Jsc = 7.27 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.67 V, and FF = 0.69) and 3.01% (Voc = 0.72 V, Jsc = 6.10 mA/cm2, FF = 0.69) under simulated AM 1.5 G solar irradiation (90–95 mW/cm2). The result shows that these novel materials are suitable for the dye‐sensitized solar cells.

Combining wide-band gap (WBG) and narrow-band gap (NBG) perovskites with interconnecting layers (ICLs) to construct monolithic all-perovskite tandem solar cell is an effective way to achieve high power conversion efficiency (PCE). However, optical losses from ICLs need to be further reduced to leverage the full potential of all-perovskite tandem solar cells. Here, metal oxide nanocrystal layers anchored with carbazolyl hole-selective-molecules (CHs), which exhibit much lower optical loss, is employed to replace poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrenesulfonate (PEDOT : PSS) as the hole transporting layers (HTLs) in lead-tin (Pb-Sn) perovskite sub-cells and ICLs in all-perovskite tandem solar cells. Optically transparent indium tin oxide nanocrystals (ITO NCs) layers are employed to enhance anchoring of CHs, while a mixture of two CHs is adopted to tune the surface energy-levels of ITO NCs. The optimized mixed Pb-Sn NBG perovskite solar cells demonstrate a high PCE of 23.2 %, with a high short-circuit current density (Jsc) of 33.5 mA cm−2. A high PCE of 28.1 % is further obtained in all-perovskite tandem solar cells, with the highest Jsc of 16.7 mA cm−2 to date. Encapsulated tandem solar cells maintain 90 % of their reference point after 500 h of operation at the maximum power point (MPP) under 1-Sun illumination.  相似文献

This work investigates the photovoltaic properties of new-architecture Ag2S quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs) fabricated on WO3 electrodes. Liquid-junction Ag2S QDSCs were fabricated from QDs synthesized using the successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction process. The optimal QDSC yielded an efficiency η of 0.20 % under a 100-mW/cm2 light illumination. Coating the QDSC with a compact layer and a scattering layer improved η to 0.31 % with a short-circuit current density J sc of 5.81 mA/cm2 and an open-circuit voltage V oc of 0.21 V. η increased to 0.53 % at a reduced 0.1 sun illumination with a J sc of 1.11 mA/cm2. The external quantum efficiency (EQE) spectrum covered the spectral range of 350–900 nm with a maximal EQE of 29 % at λ?=?650 nm. This work demonstrates the feasibility of the new-configuration Ag2S QDSCs fabricated on WO3 electrodes.  相似文献

Graphitic carbon nitride (CN) has been widely used as a photocatalyst. Very few researchers have reported the use of CN in quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs). In this study, we prepared nitrogen-rich carbon quantum dot (CQD)-embedded CN nanotubes (CCNTs) with freeze-dried urea and CQD precursors. The prepared CCNTs were used as efficient light harvesters in QDSCs for the first time; their use significantly improved the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the solar cells compared to those of CQD, CN NT, and bulk CN-sensitized solar cells. The CCNT-sensitized solar cell exhibits 1.01% PCE, which is the highest value among carbon-based QDSCs. Moreover, the CCNTs-sensitized device showed superior photostability over those of CQDs-, CN NTs-, and bulk CN-sensitized devices. The improved performance of the CCNT-sensitized solar cell can be attributed to the facilitated photoelectron transport and suppressed charge recombination. The integration of nitrogen-rich CQDs in CCNTs adjusts the band alignment and maximizes the visible light harvest by reducing the energy barriers, which improves the charge collection efficiency of the device.  相似文献

PbS electrode with high catalytic activity to Sn 2? reduction certificated by the measurements of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry was prepared by a simple method. The high catalytic activity makes it be a low-cost alternative counter electrode to platinum (Pt) to be used in quantum dots-sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs) based on polysulfide electrolyte. The photovoltaic performance enhancement of the quantum dots (QDs)-sensitized semiconductor thin films due to the PbS counter electrode was evaluated by fabricating QDSSCs based on CdSe QDs-sensitized ZnO (SnO2) thin film. CdSe QDs-sensitized ZnO thin film has the lower internal total series resistance and electron transmission time, the higher electron lifetime and electron collection efficiency than the CdSe QDs-sensitized SnO2 thin film. Replacing the Pt counter electrode with the PbS counter electrode leads to more improvement on the short circuit photocurrent density for QDSSC based on the ZnO thin film than the SnO2 thin film. Therefore, the process to limit the photovoltaic performance of CdSe QDs-sensitized solar cell and the possible way to improve the photovoltaic performance were analyzed.  相似文献

Three‐dimensional hierarchical TiO2 nanorods (HTNs) decorated with the N719 dye and 3‐mercaptopropionic or oleic acid capped CdSe quantum dots (QDs) in photoanodes for the construction of TiO2 nanorod‐based efficient co‐sensitized solar cells are reported. These HTN co‐sensitized solar cells showed a maximum power‐conversion efficiency of 3.93 %, and a higher open‐circuit voltage and fill factor for the photoanode with 3‐mercaptopropionic acid capped CdSe QDs due to the strong electronic interactions between CdSe QDs, N719 dye and HTNs, and the superior light‐harvesting features of the HTNs. An electrochemical impedance analysis indicated that the superior charge‐collection efficiency and electron diffusion length of the CdSe QD‐coated HTNs improved the photovoltaic performance of these HTN co‐sensitized solar cells.  相似文献

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensing with semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) has received great attention because it integrates the advantages of both photo‐excitation and electrochemical detection. During the photon‐to‐electricity conversion in PEC processes, electron–hole (charge) separation competes with electron–hole recombination, and the net effect essentially determines the performance of PEC biosensors. Herein, we propose a new approach for slowing down electron–hole recombination to increase charge separation efficiency for PEC biosensor development. Through doping with Mn2+, a pair of d bands (4T1 and 6A1) is inserted between the conduction and valence bands of CdS QDs, which alters the electron–hole separation and recombination dynamics, allowing the generation of long‐lived charge carriers with ms‐scale lifetime that decay about 104–105‐fold more slowly than in the case of undoped QDs. Photocurrent tests indicated that Mn2+ doping resulted in an approximately 80 % increase in photocurrent generation compared with undoped CdS QDs. For application, the Mn‐doped CdS QDs were coated on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode and functionalized with a cell surface carbohydrate‐specific ligand (3‐aminophenylboronic acid). In this way, a sensitive cytosensor for K562 leukemia cells was constructed. Moreover, the sugar‐specific binding property of 3‐aminophenylboronic acid allowed the electrode to serve as a switch for the capture and release of cells. This has been further explored with a view to developing a reusable PEC cytosensing platform.  相似文献

Donor-acceptor-π bridge-acceptor (D−A−π−A) motif dyes are promising dye sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In this study, to strengthen with-drawing electron force of the auxiliary electron acceptors(A) in D−A−π−A motif dye sensitizers, the metal complexes unit is be used as auxiliary electron acceptor(A) instead of organic electron-withdrawing monomer. The four polymeric metal complexes were designed, synthesized, and characterized, which used metal complexes of phenanthroline derivatives as auxiliary acceptors (A), benzodithiophene-dithiophene derivatives (BDTT) as donors (D), and 8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives as π-bridges and acceptors of the dye sensitizers, and have been used for dye sensitizers. Under AM 1.5 G (100 mW cm−2), the photovoltaic test results indicated that the short-circuit photocurrent density (Jsc) of the DSSCs based four polymeric metal complexes are 11.26, 13.68, 14.42 and 15.57 mA cm−2 and power conversion efficiency (PCE) are 5.96 %, 7.83 %, 8.07 %, 9.28 % respectively. Both Jsc and PCE value of the four polymeric metal complexes increased in order. This may be due to the fact that larger radius of metal ion under the same change number can enhance the coordination bond and cause stronger electron-withdrawing ability of auxiliary acceptor and stronger charge-transfer ability between the donor and the acceptor, which results in higher Jsc and higher PCE of the polymeric complex dye sensitizer.  相似文献

Three new ‘push-pull’ A3B Zn(II)porphyrin dyes having meso-pyrenyl, carbazolyl and phenothiazine as electron donors ( A ) and phenylcarboxylic acid as acceptor/anchor ( B ) were synthesized and utilized for DSSC application. The spectral and electrochemical redox properties of these new dyes were studied and compared with trans-A2BC Zn(II) porphyrin dyes under similar experimental conditions. Red-shifted, broadened absorption peaks, lower fluorescence quantum yields, and shortened lifetimes were observed for the A3B dyes as compared to zinc tetraphenylporphyrin control, ZnTPP. DFT optimized structures suggested effective charge separation related to enhanced charge injection efficiency. Driving force for electron injection (ΔGinj) and dye regeneration (ΔGreg) calculated from the spectral and electrochemical studies predicted facile electron injection from excited dye into semiconductor TiO2 in the constructed solar cells. Phenothiazine appended dye ( KP - TriPTZ - Zn ) showed the highest η value of 7.3 % for PCE with greater Jsc and Voc values due to its better light harvesting ability and reduced dye aggregation as compared to other dyes. Our studies demonstrate that the dyes having multiple electron-donating groups exhibit higher photon-to-current conversion efficiency.  相似文献

Poly(n‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) and its nanocomposite with exfoliated montmorillonite (MMT) were prepared by soap‐free emulsion polymerization and individually applied to gel the electrolyte systems for the dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Each exfoliated MMT nanoplatelet had a thickness of ~ 1 nm, carried ~ 1.8 cation/nm2, and acted like a two‐dimensional electrolyte. The DSSC with the LiI/I2/tertiary butylpyridine electrolyte system gelled by this polymer nanocomposite had higher short‐circuit current density (Jsc) compared to that gelled by the neat PNIPAAm. The former has a Jsc of 12.6 mA/cm2, an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.73 V, and a fill factor (FF) of 0.59, which harvested 5.4% electricity conversion efficiency (η) under AM 1.5 irradiation at 100 mW/cm2, whereas the latter has Jsc = 7.28 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.72 V, FF = 0.60, and η = 3.17%. IPCE of the nanocomposite‐gelled DSSC were also improved. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of the DSSCs revealed that the nanocomposite‐gelled electrolytes significantly decreased the impedances in three major electric current paths of DSSCs, that is, the resistance of electrolytes and electric contacts, impedance across the electrolytes/dye‐coated TiO2 interface, and Nernstian diffusion within the electrolytes. The results were also consistent with the increased molar conductivity of nanocomposite‐gelled electrolytes. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 47–53, 2008  相似文献

Luminescence downshifting (LDS) of light can be a practical photon management technique to compensate the narrow absorption band of high‐extinction‐coefficient dyes in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Herein, an optical analysis on the loss mechanisms in a reflective LDS (R‐LDS)/DSSC configuration is reported. For squaraine dye (550–700 nm absorption band) and CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ LDS material (550–700 nm emission band), the major loss channels are found to be non‐unity luminescence quantum efficiency (QE) and electrolyte absorption. By using an ideal LDS layer (QE=100 %), a less absorbing electrolyte (Co‐based), and antireflection coatings, approximately 20 % better light harvesting is obtained. If the absorption/emission band of dye/LDS is shifted to 800 nm, a maximal short‐circuit current density (Jsc) of 22.1 mA cm?2 can be achieved. By putting the LDS layer in front of the DSSC (transmissive mode), more significant loss channels are observed, and hence a lower overall efficiency than the R‐LDS configuration.  相似文献

A new design for a quasi‐solid‐state Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) enabled solar cell with unattached Lucifer yellow (LY) dye molecules as donors and CdS/CdSe quantum dots (QDs) tethered to titania (TiO2) as acceptors is presented. The Forster radius is experimentally determined to be 5.29 nm. Sequential energy transfer from the LY dye to the QDs and electron transfer from the QDs to TiO2 is followed by fluorescence quenching and electron lifetime studies. Cells with a donor–acceptor architecture (TiO2/CdS/CdSe/ZnS‐LY/S2?‐multi‐walled carbon nanotubes) show a maximum incident photon‐to‐current conversion efficiency of 53 % at 530 nm. This is the highest efficiency among Ru‐dye free FRET‐enabled quantum dot solar cells (QDSCs), and is much higher than the donor or acceptor‐only cells. The FRET‐enhanced solar cell performance over the majority of the visible spectrum paves the way to harnessing the untapped potential of the LY dye as an energy relay fluorophore for the entire gamut of dye sensitized, organic, or hybrid solar cells.  相似文献

A new semiconducting polymer, poly((5,5‐E‐α‐((2‐thienyl)methylene)‐2‐thiopheneacetonitrile)‐alt‐2,6‐[(1,5‐didecyloxy)naphthalene])) (PBTADN), an alternating copolymer of 2,3‐bis‐(thiophene‐2‐yl)‐acrylronitrile and didecyloxy naphthalene, is synthesized and used as an active material for organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) and organic solar cells. The incorporation of 2,3‐bis‐(thiophene‐2‐yl)‐acrylronitrile as an electron deficient group and didecyloxy naphthalene as an electron rich group resulted in a relatively low bandgap, high charge carrier mobility, and finally good photovoltaic performances of PBTADN solar cells. Because of the excellent miscibility of PBTADN and PC71BM, as confirmed by Grazing Incident X‐ray Scattering (GIXS) measurements and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), homogeneous film morphology was achieved. The maximum power conversion efficiency of the PBTADN:PC71BM solar cell reached 2.9% with a Voc of 0.88 V, a short circuit current density (Jsc) of 5.6 mA/cm2, and a fill factor of 59.1%. The solution processed thin film transistor with PBTADN revealed a highest saturation mobility of 0.025 cm2/Vs with an on/off ratio of 104. The molecular weight dependence of the morphology, charge carrier mobility, and finally the photovoltaic performances were also studied and it was found that high molecular weight PBTADN has better self assembly characteristics, showing enhanced performance. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three electron donor‐?? bridge‐electron acceptor (D‐π‐A) organic dyes bearing two carboxylic acid groups were applied to dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSC) as sensitizers, in which one triphenylamine or modified triphenylamine and two rhodanine‐3‐acetic acid fragments act as D and A, respectively. It was found that the introduction of t‐butyl or methoxy group in the triphenylamine subunit could lead to more efficient photoinduced intramolecular charge transfer, thus improving the overall photoelectric conversion efficiency of the resultant DSSC. Under global AM 1.5 solar irradiation (73 mW·cm?2), the dye molecule based on methoxy‐substituted triphenylamine achieved the best photovoltaic performance: a short circuit photocurrent density (Jsc) of 12.63 mA·cm?2, an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.55 V, a fill factor (FF) of 0.62, corresponding to an overall efficiency (η) of 5.9%.  相似文献

A series of heteroleptic bis(tridentate) RuII complexes featuring N^C^N‐cyclometalating ligands is presented. The 1,2,3‐triazole‐containing tridentate ligands are readily functionalized with hydrophobic side chains by means of click chemistry and the corresponding cyclometalated RuII complexes are easily synthesized. The performance of these thiocyanate‐free complexes in a dye‐sensitized solar cell was tested and a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of up to 4.0 % (Jsc=8.1 mA cm?2, Voc=0.66 V, FF=0.70) was achieved, while the black dye ((NBu4)3[Ru(Htctpy)(NCS)3]; Htctpy=2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine‐4′‐carboxylic acid‐4,4′′‐dicarboxylate) showed 5.2 % (Jsc=10.7 mA cm?2, Voc=0.69 V, FF=0.69) under comparable conditions. When co‐adsorbed with chenodeoxycholic acid, the PCE of the best cyclometalated dye could be improved to 4.5 % (Jsc=9.4 mA cm?2, Voc=0.65 V, FF=0.70). The PCEs correlate well with the light‐harvesting capabilities of the dyes, while a comparable incident photon‐to‐current efficiency was achieved with the cyclometalated dye and the black dye. Regeneration appeared to be efficient in the parent dye, despite the high energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital. The device performance was investigated in more detail by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Ultimately, a promising RuII sensitizer platform is presented that features a highly functionalizable “click”‐derived cyclometalating ligand.  相似文献

We present here the effect of degradation on electronic properties of polymer solar cells. Investigations were performed on two types of solar cells based on the bulk‐heterojunction network of poly(3‐hexylthiophene) and phenyl [6,6] C61 butyric acid methyl ester, one with slow degradation whereas other with faster degradation. Samples were prepared in identical conditions with controlled atmosphere, but for faster degradation, one of the samples was exposed to ambient air (rich in O2 and H2O molecules) before deposition of top metal electrode. The sample with slow degradation showed linear degradation in short circuit current density (Jsc), whereas the sample with faster degradation exhibited exponential degradation in Jsc. Linear degradation happens due to degradation in the active layer only whereas the exponential degradation is because of through degradation of the solar cell. The effect of degradation is investigated on different diode parameters. Because of different degradation processes in the two samples, the variations in diode parameters with time are different.
