Starting with the framework of conventional elastoplastic damage mechanics, a class of stochastic damage constitutive model is derived based on the concept of energy equivalent strain. The stochastic damage model derived from the parallel element model is adopted to develop the uniaxial damage evolution function. Based on the expressions of damage energy release rates (DERRs) conjugated to the damage variables thermodynamically, the concept and its tensor formulations of energy equivalent strain is proposed to bridge the gap between the uniaxial and the multiaxial constitutive models. Furthermore, a simplified coupling model is proposed to consider the evolution of plastic strain. And the analytical expressions of the constitutive model in 2-D are established from the abstract tensor expression. Several numerical simulations are presented against the biaxial loading test results of concrete, demonstrating that the proposed models can reflect the salient features for concrete under uniaxial and biaxial loading conditions.  相似文献

The main objective of this work is to experimentally and numerically evaluate the macro-performance of the automotive TWIP (twinning induced plasticity) sheet in conjunction with formability. In order to characterize the mechanical properties, the simple tension and compression tests were performed for anisotropic properties, while the strain rate test was carried out to evaluate strain rate sensitivity. The forming limit diagram was measured and incorporated into the simulation program, while the theoretical prediction of the diffuse and localized necking was also carried out utilizing Hill’s and the M-K theories as well as Dorn’s and Swift’s diffuse theories. Note that the generalized criteria of Hill’s, Dorn’s and Swift’s theories were derived for general anisotropic sheets as well in this work. For numerical simulations, the anisotropic yield functions Yld2000-2d and Hill48 as well as the isotropic Mises yield function were selectively applied along with the isotropic hardening law. Formability verification was performed, utilizing Yld2000-2d, for the hemispherical dome stretching, notch and simple tension tests with specimens selectively prepared by milling and punching, while anisotropic properties were verified through the three point bending and cylindrical cup drawing tests, comparing the performance of the three yield functions.  相似文献

Experimental measurement of the plastic biaxial mechanical response for an aluminum alloy (AA5754-O) sheet metal is presented. Traditional methods of multiaxial sheet metal testing require the use of finite element analysis (FEA) or other assumptions of material response to determine the multiaxial true stress versus true strain behavior of the as-received sheet material. The method used here strives to produce less ambiguous measurements of data for a larger strain range than previously possible, through a combination of the Marciniak flat bottom ram test and an X-ray diffraction technique for stress measurement. The study is performed in conjunction with a study of the microstructural changes that occur during deformation, and these microstructural results are briefly mentioned in this work. Issues of calibration and applicability are discussed, and results are presented for uniaxial (U), plane strain (PS), and balanced biaxial (BB) extension. The results show repeatable behavior (within quantified uncertainties) for U to 20%, PS to almost 15%, and BB to above 20% in-plane strains. The results are first compared with three common yield locus models (von Mises’, Hill’48, and Hosford’79), and show some unexpected results in the shape change of the yield locus at high strain levels (>5% strain). These changes include the rotation of the locus toward the von Mises surface and elongation in the balanced biaxial direction. Comparison with a more complex yield locus model (Yld2000-2d with eight adjustable parameters) showed that the locus elongation in the biaxial direction could be fit well (for a specific level of work), but at the detriment of fit to the plane strain data. Artificially large plastic strain ratios would be needed to match both the biaxial and plane strain behavior even with this more complex model.  相似文献

A combined necking and shear localization analysis is adopted to model the failures of two aluminum sheets, AA5754 and AA6111, under biaxial stretching conditions. The approach is based on the assumption that the reduction of thickness or the necking mode is modeled by a plane stress formulation and the final failure mode of shear localization is modeled by a generalized plane strain formulation. The sheet material is modeled by an elastic-viscoplastic constitutive relation that accounts for the potential surface curvature, material plastic anisotropy, material rate sensitivity, and the softening due to the nucleation, growth, and coalescence of microvoids. Specifically, the necking/shear failure of the aluminum sheets is modeled under uniaxial tension, plane strain tension and equal biaxial tension. The results based on the mechanics model presented in this paper are in agreement with those based on the forming limit diagrams (FLDs) and tensile tests. When the necking mode is suppressed, the failure strains are also determined under plane strain conditions. These failure strains can be used as guidances for estimation of the surface failure strains on the stretching sides of the aluminum sheets under plane strain bending conditions. The estimated surface failure strains are higher than the failure strains of the forming limit diagrams under plane strain stretching conditions. The results are consistent with experimental observations where the surface failure strains of the aluminum sheets increase significantly on the stretching sides of the sheets under bending conditions. The results also indicate that when a considerable amount of necking is observed for a sheet metal under stretching conditions, the surface failure strains on the stretching sides of the sheet metal under bending conditions can be significantly higher.  相似文献

The mechanical behavior of ideal truss lattice materials is controlled by the so-called direct action mechanism at the microscale which involves the uniform stretching and compressing of individual truss members. Standard homogenization techniques have been employed to develop a general micromechanics-based finite-strain constitutive model for truss lattice materials. Furthermore, a specialized small-strain plasticity model has been derived. Both models have been implemented in a finite-element program and used to simulate the anisotropic plastic behavior of the octet-truss lattice material in various applications including cyclic uniaxial loading, pure shear, and three-point bending. The constitutive model predictions agree well with the results obtained from discrete finite element models. Regarding the plasticity of the octet-truss lattice material, it has been found that the elastic domain is constrained by twelve pairwise parallel hyperplanes in the six-dimensional stress space. Moreover, the mechanism-based small-strain formulation reveals that the direction of plastic flow is normal to the pressure-dependent macroscopic yield surfaces.  相似文献

This paper proposes a model and a mechanism for explaining the mechanical behavior of extruded powder aluminum at elevated temperature. This behavior is significantly different from that of ingot-cast and drawn aluminum which is subjected to the same tests. Powder aluminum exhibits a strain-softening effect which is evident in a decrease of stress with increasing strain in uniaxial test specimens when the experiment proceeds into the postyield region. Similar behavior is observed in the shear response during biaxial tension-torsion loading. For these tests, the shear stress is additionally reduced with increased axial extension. A model and mechanism are proposed, based on the relative motion of the extruded aluminum particles, to explain this effect. Equations are derived which relate the axial and shear stresses and strains. These equations are fitted to data obtained in a matrix of experiments, which include combined loadings from uniaxial tension to simple shear. Results are presented graphically and are in good agreement with the proposed models.  相似文献

This work is a review of experimental methods for observing and modeling the anisotropic plastic behavior of metal sheets and tubes under a variety of loading paths, such as biaxial compression tests; biaxial tension tests on metal sheets and tubes using closed-loop electrohydraulic testing machines; the abrupt strain path change method for detecting a yield vertex and subsequent yield loci without unloading; in-plane stress reversal tests on metal sheets; and multistage tension tests. Observed material responses are compared with the predictions of phenomenological plasticity models. Special attention is paid to the plastic deformation behavior of materials commonly used in industry, and to verifying the validity of conventional anisotropic yield criteria for those materials and associated flow rules at large plastic strains. The effects of using appropriate anisotropic yield criteria on the accuracy of simulations of forming defects, such as large springback and fracture, are also presented to highlight the importance of accurate material testing and modeling.  相似文献

The experimental properties of different polymer melts, polystyrene, high density polyethylene and low density polyethylene are compared for the first time in three different deformations: step shear, step biaxial extension and steady uniaxial extension. Properties of three other melts are also studied in step biaxial and shear experiments. For our comparative purposes some data of Laun and Winter from the literature are used, as well as new data reported here. In all the step strain experiments, the stresses can be factored into a time dependent relaxation modulus and a strain dependent damping function. The data are interpreted using a differential constitutive equation of Larson which satisfies this time-strain separability and has a single parameter that describes the strain softening character of the material. Results show that differences in the properties of the melts are most pronounced in uniaxial extension and least in biaxial extension. All melts follow the Doi-Edwards prediction relatively closely in biaxial extension. In uniaxial extension, the branched material shows a strong strain hardening effect although its shear and biaxial properties are similar to the other melts. The constitutive model gives a reasonably good fit to the data in all three deformations for unbranched materials for the same value of the adjustable parameter; the model, however, fails for the branched low density polyethylene.  相似文献

This paper critically evaluates the performance of five constitutive models in predicting ratcheting responses of carbon steel for a broad set of uniaxial and biaxial loading histories. The models proposed by Prager, Armstrong and Frederick, Chaboche, Ohno-Wang and Guionnet are examined. Reasons for success and failure in simulating ratcheting by these models are elaborated. The bilinear Prager and the nonlinear Armstrong-Frederick models are found to be inadequate in simulating ratcheting responses. The Chaboche and Ohno-Wang models perform quite well in predicting uniaxial ratcheting responses; however, they consistently overpredict the biaxial ratcheting responses. The Guionnet model simulates one set of biaxial ratcheting responses very well, but fails to simulate uniaxial and other biaxial ratcheting responses. Similar to many earlier studies, this study also indicates a strong influence of the kinematic hardening rule or backstress direction on multiaxial ratcheting simulation. Incorporation of parameters dependent on multiaxial ratcheting responses, while dormant for uniaxial responses, into Chaboche-type kinematic hardening rules may be conducive to improve their multiaxial ratcheting simulations. The uncoupling of the kinematic hardening rule from the plastic modulus calculation is another potentially viable alternative. The best option to achieve a robust model for ratcheting simulations seems to be the incorporation of yield surface shape change (formative hardening) in the cyclic plasticity model.  相似文献

A Taylor-like polycrystal model is adopted here to investigate the plastic behavior of body centered cubic (b.c.c.) sheet metals under plane-strain compression and the subsequent in-plane biaxial stretching conditions. The <111> pencil glide system is chosen for the slip mechanism for b.c.c. sheet metals. The {110} <111> and {112} <111> slip systems are also considered. Plane-strain compression is used to simulate the cold rolling processes of a low-carbon steel sheet. Based on the polycrystal model, pole figures for the sheet metal after plane-strain compression are obtained and compared with the corresponding experimental results. Also, the simulated plane-strain stress—strain relations are compared with the corresponding experimental results. For the sheet metal subjected to the subsequent in-plane biaxial stretching and shear, plastic potential surfaces are determined at a given small amount of plastic work. With the assumption of the equivalence of the plastic potential and the yield function with normality flow, the yield surfaces based on the simulations for the sheet metal are compared with those based on several phenomenological planar anisotropic yield criteria. The effects of the slip system and the magnitude of plastic work on the shape and size of the yield surfaces are shown. The plastic anisotropy of the sheet metal is investigated in terms of the uniaxial yield stresses in different planar orientations and the corresponding values of the anisotropy parameter R, defined as the ratio of the width plastic strain rate to the through-thickness plastic strain rate under in-plane uniaxial tensile loading. The uniaxial yield stresses and the values of R at different planar orientations from the polycrystal model can be fitted well by a yield function recently proposed by Barlat et al. (1997b).  相似文献

Consideration of plastic anisotropy is essential in accurate simulations of metal forming processes. In this study, finite element (FE) simulations have been performed to predict the plastic anisotropy of sheet metals using a texture- and microstructure-based constitutive model. The effect of crystallographic texture is incorporated through the use of an anisotropic plastic potential in strain-rate space, which gives the shape of the yield locus. The effect of dislocation is captured by use of a hardening model with four internal variables, which characterize the position and the size of the yield locus. Two applications are presented to evaluate the accuracy and the efficiency of the model: a cup drawing test and a two-stage pseudo-orthogonal sequential test (biaxial stretching in hydraulic bulging followed by uniaxial tension), using an interstitial-free steel sheet. The experimental results of earing behavior in the cup drawing test, maximum pressure and strain distribution in bulging, and transient hardening in the sequential test are compared against the FE predictions. It is shown that the current model is capable of predicting the plastic anisotropy induced by both the texture and the strain-path change. The relative significance of texture and strain-path change in the predictions is discussed.  相似文献

Computational models of the brain rely on accurate constitutive relationships to model the viscoelastic behavior of brain tissue. Current viscoelastic models have been derived from experiments conducted in a single direction at a time and therefore lack information on the effects of multiaxial loading. It is also unclear if the time-dependent behavior of brain tissue is dependent on either strain magnitude or the direction of loading when subjected to tensile stresses. Therefore, biaxial stress relaxation and cyclic experiments were conducted on corpus callosum tissue isolated from fresh ovine brains. Results demonstrated the relaxation behavior to be independent of strain magnitude, and a quasi-linear viscoelastic (QLV) model was able to accurately fit the experimental data. Also, an isotropic reduced relaxation tensor was sufficient to model the stress-relaxation in both the axonal and transverse directions. The QLV model was fitted to the averaged stress relaxation tests at five strain magnitudes while using the measured strain history from the experiments. The resulting model was able to accurately predict the stresses from cyclic tests at two strain magnitudes. In addition to deriving a constitutive model from the averaged experimental data, each specimen was fitted separately and the resulting distributions of the model parameters were reported and used in a probabilistic analysis to determine the probability distribution of model predictions and the sensitivity of the model to the variance of the parameters. These results can be used to improve the viscoelastic constitutive models used in computational studies of the brain.  相似文献

Superconducting radio frequency (SRF) niobium cavities are widely used in high-energy physics to accelerate particle beams in particle accelerators. The performance of SRF cavities is affected by the microstructure and purity of the niobium sheet, surface quality, geometry, etc. Following optimum strain paths in the forming of these cavities can significantly control these parameters. To select these strain paths, however, information about the mechanical behavior, microstructure, and formability of the niobium sheet is required. Due to the lack of information, first an extensive experimental study was carried out to characterize the formability of the niobium sheet, followed by examining the suitability of Hill’s anisotropic yield function to model its plastic behavior. Results from this study showed that, due to intrinsic behavior, it is necessary to evolve the anisotropic coefficients of Hill’s yield function in order to properly model the plastic behavior of the niobium sheet. The accuracy of the newly developed evolutionary yield function was verified by applying it to the modeling of the hydrostatic bulging of the niobium sheet.  相似文献

By using a simplified constitutive model of a pointed vertex on subsequent yield loci, namely, such that the equations of deformation-theory of rigid-plastic solids apply for fully-active stress increments, the onset of localized necking under biaxial stretching has been predicted. The predictions agree reasonably well with reported experimental observations. Since localized necking under biaxial stretching of a uniform and homogeneous sheet is impossible when flow theories of plasticity with smooth yield-loci are used, this result supports the hypothesis of vertex-formation on the yield locus under continued plastic flow. The implications of this conclusion with respect to the study of the inception of ductile fracture in solids, viewed as a material instability, may be far-reaching. Still, explanations based on a smooth yield-locus but small initial inhomogeneities cannot be ruled out, and both initial imperfections and yield-vertex effects may contribute in general to localization instabilities.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a modified model describing the constitutive relation of viscoelastic dielectric elastomer (DE). The uniform uniaxial tension-recovery experiment was carried out at different stretching rates. Based on Yeoh hyper-elastic model, model-fitting approach is put forward to obtain the relationship between parameters of Yeoh model and stretching rate, thus the modified model was obtained. From the approximate relationship between harmonic motion and uniform reciprocating motion, the stress–strain curve in the recovery process was also identified through the hysteresis between stress and strain. The modified model, with concise form and evident physical concept, can describe the strong nonlinear behavior between deformation and mechanical stress of the material in a common stretching rate range (from 0.01s?1 to 0.8s?1 at least). The accuracy and reliability of the modified model was examined.  相似文献

Four calibration methods have been evaluated for the linear transformation-based anisotropic yield function YLD2004-18p (Barlat, F., Aretz, H., Yoon, J.W., Karabin, M.E., Brem, J.C., Dick, R.E., 2005. Linear transformation-based anisotropic yield functions. Int. J. Plasticity 21, 1009–1039) and the aluminium alloy AA5083-H116. The different parameter identifications are based on least squares fits to combinations of uniaxial tensile tests in seven directions with respect to the rolling direction, compression (upsetting) tests in the normal direction and stress states found using the full-constraint (FC) Taylor model for 690 evenly distributed strain paths. An elastic–plastic constitutive model based on YLD2004-18p has been implemented in a non-linear finite element code and used in finite element simulations of plane-strain tension tests, shear tests and upsetting tests. The experimental results as well as the Taylor model predictions can be satisfactorily reproduced by the considered yield function. However, the lacking ability of the Taylor model to quantitatively reproduce the experiments calls for more advanced crystal plasticity models.  相似文献
