A new numerical technique named as fuzzy finite difference method is proposed to solve the heat conduction problems with fuzzy uncertainties in both the phys- ical parameters and initial/boundary conditions. In virtue of the level-cut method, the difference discrete equations with fuzzy parameters are equivalently transformed into groups of interval equations. New stability analysis theory suited to fuzzy difference schemes is developed. Based on the parameter perturbation method, the interval ranges of the uncertain temperature field can be approximately predicted. Subsequently, fuzzy solutions to the original difference equations are obtained by the fuzzy resolution theorem. Two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the presented method for solving both steady-state and transient heat conduction problems.  相似文献

The transient heat conduction equation in a finite slab undergoing phase change (two-phase problem of melting and solidification), with isothermal, adiabatic or convective boundary conduction is studied by the network simulation method; solid phase conductivity and specific heat are assumed to be dependent on temperature. Ablation, as a particular case, is also analysed. A network model is established for a cell and boundary conditions are added to complete the whole network model. No restrictions exist, as to the kinds of linear and non-linear boundary conditions, Stefan number values or the initial conditions (when hypotheses concern of the Stefan problem, numerical and exact solutions are compared for a large interval of Stefan numbers; simulation values show good agreement). Movement of the solid–liquid boundary and thermal fields are determined in all cases. Received on 10 May 2000 / Published online: 29 November 2001  相似文献

A theoretical study is presented in this paper to investigate the conjugate heat transfer across a vertical finite wall separating two forced and free convection flows at different temperatures. It is assumed that the heat conduction in the wall is only in the transversal direction. We also assume that countercurrent boundary layers are formed on the both sides of the wall. The governing equations of this problem and their corresponding boundary conditions are all cast into a dimensionless form by using a non-similarity transformation. These resulting equations, which are singular at the points ξc=0 and 1, are solved numerically using a very efficient singular perturbation method. The effects of the resistance parameters and of the Prandtl numbers on heat transfer characteristics are investigated and presented in a table and ten figures. Received on 8 April 1998  相似文献

A numerical study of the steady conjugate free convection over a vertical slender, hollow circular cylinder with the inner surface at a constant temperature and embedded in a porous medium is reported. The governing boundary layer equations for the fluid-saturated porous medium over the cylinder along with the one-dimensional heat conduction equation for the cylinder are cast into dimensionless form, by using a non-similarity transformation. The resulting non-similarity equations with their corresponding boundary conditions are solved by using the Keller box method. Emphasis is placed on the effects caused by the wall conduction parameter, p, and calculations have covered a wide range of this parameter. Heat transfer results including the temperature profiles, the interface temperature profiles and the local Nusselt number are presented. Received on 17 November 1997  相似文献

In this work, the size-dependent buckling of functionally graded(FG)Bernoulli-Euler beams under non-uniform temperature is analyzed based on the stressdriven nonlocal elasticity and nonlocal heat conduction. By utilizing the variational principle of virtual work, the governing equations and the associated standard boundary conditions are systematically extracted, and the thermal effect, equivalent to the induced thermal load, is explicitly assessed by using the nonlocal heat conduction law. An analysis is presented to describe the boundary layer flow and heat transfer towards a porous exponential stretching sheet. Velocity and thermal slips are considered instead of no-slip conditions at the boundary. Thermal radiation term is incorporated in the temperature equation. Similarity transformations are used to convert the partial differential equations corresponding to the momentum and heat equations into highly non-linear ordinary differential equations. Numerical solutions of these equations are obtained by shooting method. It is found that the fluid velocity and temperature decrease with increasing slip parameter. Temperature is found to decrease with an increase of thermal slip parameter. Thermal radiation enhances the effective thermal diffusivity and the temperature rises.

The flow and heat transfer of a non-Newtonian power-law fluid over a non-linearly stretching surface has been studied numerically under conditions of constant heat flux and thermal radiation and evaluated for the effect of wall slip. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into a set of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations which are using appropriate boundary conditions for various physical parameters. The remaining set of ordinary differential equations is solved numerically by fourth-order Runge–Kutta method using the shooting technique. The effects of the viscosity, the slip velocity, the radiation parameter, power-law index, and the Prandtl number on the flow and temperature profiles are presented. Moreover, the local skin friction and Nusselt numbers are presented. Comparison of numerical results is made with the earlier published results under limiting cases.  相似文献

The Non-uniform rational B-spline(NURBS)enhanced scaled boundary finite element method in combination with the modified precise integration method is proposed for the transient heat conduction problems in this paper. The scaled boundary finite element method is a semi-analytical technique, which weakens the governing differential equations along the circumferential direction and solves those analytically in the radial direction. In this method, only the boundary is discretized in the finite element sense leading to a reduction of the spatial dimension by one with no fundamental solution required.Nevertheless,in case of the complex geometry,a huge number of elements are generally required to properly approximate the exact shape of the domain and distorted meshes are often unavoidable in the conventional finite element approach, which leads to huge computational efforts and loss of accuracy.NURBS are the most popular mathematical tool in CAD industry due to its flexibility to fit any free-form shape. In the proposed methodology, the arbitrary curved boundary of problem domain is exactly represented with NURBS basis functions, while the straight part of the boundary is discretized by the conventional Lagrange shape functions. Both the concepts of isogeometric analysis and scaled boundary finite element method are combined to form the governing equations of transient heat conduction analysis and the solution is obtained using the modified precise integration method. The stiffness matrix is obtained from a standard quadratic eigenvalue problem and the mass matrix is determined from the low-frequency expansion. Finally the governing equations become a system of first-order ordinary differential equations and the time domain response is solved numerically by the modified precise integration method. The accuracy and stability of the proposed method to deal with the transient heat conduction problems are demonstrated by numerical examples.  相似文献

The effects of axisymmetric flow of a Powell-Eyring fluid over an impermeable radially stretching surface are presented. Characteristics of the heat transfer process are analyzed with a more realistic condition named the convective boundary condition. Governing equations for the flow problem are derived by the boundary layer approximations. The modeled highly coupled partial differential system is converted into a system of ordinary differential equations with acceptable similarity transformations. The convergent series solutions for the resulting system are constructed and analyzed. Optimal values are obtained and presented in a numerical form using an optimal homotopy analysis method (OHAM). The rheological characteristics of different parameters of the velocity and temperature profiles are presented graphically. Tabular variations of the skin friction coefficient and the Nusselt number are also calculated. It is observed that the temperature distribution shows opposite behavior for Prandtl and Biot numbers. Furthermore, the rate of heating/cooling is higher for both the Prandtl and Biot numbers.  相似文献

An analysis has been performed to study the influence of velocity dependent dispersion on transverse heat transfer in mixed convection flow above a horizontal wall of prescribed temperature in a saturated porous medium. The Boussinesq approximation and boundary layer analysis were used to numerically obtain gravity affected temperature and velocity distributions within the frames of Darcy's law and a total thermal diffusivity tensor comprising both of constant coefficient heat conduction and velocity proportional mechanical heat dispersion. Dependending on Pe, the molecular Peclét number basing on the effective thermal diffusivity and the velocity of the oncoming flow, density coupling has distinct influences on heat transfer rates between the wall surface and the porous medium flow region. For small Peclét numbers, when heat conduction is the prevailing mechanism, wall heat fluxes are the higher the larger the density difference between the oncoming and the near wall fluid is. The opposite is true for larger Peclét numbers, when mechanical heat dispersion is the main cause of heat spreading. For Pe tending to infinity these wall heat fluxes approach finite maximum values in the total heat diffusivity model, they grow beyond any limit if only constant coefficient heat conduction is considered. Thus, the inclusion of mechanical heat dispersion effects yields physically more realistic predictions. Received on 18 September 1996  相似文献

The results of an analysis of thermo-gravitational convection in Czochralski single-crystal growth from a melt under periodic temperature field conditions are presented. The numerical modeling is based on solving the unsteady 3-D Navier-Stokes and heat conduction equations in the Boussinesq approximation. It is shown that using different heating regimes for the crystal medium provides additional opportunities for controlling heat and mass transfer.  相似文献

The fracture behavior of a functionally graded layered structure (FGLS) with an interface crack under thermal loading is investigated. Considering new boundary conditions, it is assumed that interface crack is partly insulated, and the temperature drop across the crack surfaces is the result of the thermal resistance due to the heat conduction through the crack region. The problem is formulated in terms of a system of singular integral equations. Numerical results are presented to show the influence of the material nonhomogeneity parameters and the dimensionless thermal resistance on the thermal stress intensity factors (TSIFs).  相似文献

Heat conduction solutions are presented for the case where the material obeys a non-Fourier conduction law. In contrast to the Fourier law which predicts an infinite speed of heat propagation, the non-Fourier theory implies that the speed of thermal signals are finite. Axisymmetric problems for regions interior and exterior to a circular cylinder are investigated by using methods of Laplace transformation and asymptotic analysis. Comparisons of the temperature profiles are made with Fourier theory for the case of step function temperature boundary conditions.  相似文献

The stability of a boundary layer with volume heat supply on the attachment line of a swept wing is investigated within the framework of the linear theory at supersonic inviscid-free-stream Mach numbers. The results of numerical calculations of the flow stability and neutral curves are presented for the flow on the leading edge of a swept wing with a swept angle χ=60° at various free-stream Mach numbers. The effect of volume heat supply on the characteristics of boundary layer stability on the attachment line is studied at a surface temperature equal to the temperature of the external inviscid flow. It is shown that in the case of a supersonic external inviscid flow volume heat supply may result in an increase in the critical Reynolds number and stabilization of disturbances corresponding to large wave numbers. For certain energy supply parameters the situation is reversed, the unstable disturbances corresponding to the main flow-instability zone are stabilized but another zone of flow-instability with small wave numbers and a significantly lower critical Reynolds number appears.  相似文献

An analytical resolution of the time-dependent one-dimensional heat conduction problem with time-dependent boundary conditions using the method of separation of variables and Duhamel’s theorem is presented. The two boundary conditions used are a time-dependent heat flux at one end and a varying temperature at the other end of the one-dimensional domain. It is put forth because the author found that the prescribed resolution method using separation of variables and Duhamel’s theorem presented in heat conduction textbooks is not directly applicable to problems with more than one time-dependent boundary condition. The analytical method presented in this paper makes use of one of the property of the heat conduction equation: the apparent linearity of the solutions. For that reason, in order to solve a problem with two time-dependent boundary conditions, the author first separates the initial problem into two independent but complementary problems, each with only one time-dependent boundary condition. Doing that, both simpler problems can be solved independently using a prescribed method that is known to work and the final solution can be obtained by joining the two independent solutions from the simpler separated problems. Every step of the resolution method is presented in this paper, along with a numerical validation of the final solution of three test case problems.  相似文献

An analysis is performed to study the effects of the chemical reaction and heat generation or absorption on a steady mixed convection boundary layer flow over a vertical stretching sheet with nonuniform slot mass transfer. The governing boundary layer equations with boundary conditions are transformed into the dimensionless form by a group of nonsimilar transformations. Nonsimilar solutions are obtained numerically by solving the coupled nonlinear partial differential equations using the quasi-linearization technique combined with an implicit finite difference scheme. The numerical computations are carried out for different values of dimensionless parameters to display the distributions of the velocity, temperature, concentration, local skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number, and local Sherwood number. The results obtained indicate that the local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers increase with nonuniform slot suction, but nonuniform slot injection produces the opposite effect. The local Nusselt number decreases with heat generation and increases with heat absorption.  相似文献

The rotational flow of viscoplastic fluids between concentric cylinders is examined while dissipation due to viscous effects through the energy balance. The viscosity of fluid is simultaneously dependent on shear rate and temperature. Exponential dependence of viscosity on temperature is modeled through Nahme law, and the shear dependency is modeled according to the Carreau equation. Hydrodynamically, stick boundary conditions are applied, and thermally, both constant temperature and constant heat flux on the exterior of cylinders are considered. The governing motion and energy balance equations are coupled adding complexity to the already highly correlated set of differential equations. Introduction of Nahme number has resulted in a nonlinear base flow between the cylinders. As well, the condition of constant heat flux has moved the point of maximum temperature toward the inner cylinder. Taking viscous heating into account, the effects of parameters such as Nahme and Brinkman numbers, material time and pseudoplasticity constant on the stability of the flow are investigated. Moreover, the study shows that the total entropy generation number decreases as the fluid elasticity increases. It, however, increases with increasing Nahme and Brinkman numbers.  相似文献

A numerical study of a non-Darcy mixed convective heat and mass transfer flow over a vertical surface embedded in a dispersion, melting, and thermal radiation is porous medium under the effects of double investigated. The set of governing boundary layer equations and the boundary conditions is transformed into a set of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations with the relevant boundary conditions. The transformed equations are solved numerically by using the Chebyshev pseudospectral method. Comparisons of the present results with the existing results in the literature are made, and good agreement is found. Numerical results for the velocity, temperature, concentration profiles, and local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are discussed for various values of physical parameters.  相似文献
