Experimental investigations were conducted to examine the behavior of concrete sandwich composites under compressive and tensile loads. The sandwich cores were composed of nonpermeated, expanded aluminum honeycomb and the facings consisted of concrete mortar. Appropriate theories that predict the behavior of such composites were presented and compared with experimental data. All specimens had facing thicknesses of 1 in. (25.4 mm), core thicknesses of 1, 2 and 3 in. (25.4, 50.8 and 76.2 mm); core-cell size of 1/8 and 3/8 in. (3.2 and 9.5 mm); while four different core foil gages were considered for each size. The facings were either plain concrete mortar or reinforced with steel wires. The large-core-cell-size specimen displayed better bond characteristics and produced more consistent experimental data. The ultimate strengths of both compressive and tensile specimens were not affected by the core-cell size, core thickness, or core density. Axial compressive loads were carried by the facing area while tensile loads were by the reinforcements in the facings. The buckling waves were developed due to the wrinkling of the facings. The buckling waves in the two facings were independent of each other and the overall wave pattern was antisymmetrical.  相似文献

Strength and stiffness of sandwich beams in bending   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This investigation is concerned with the experimental versus analytical correlation of the mechanical properties of sandwich-beam specimens. Such sandwich structures are commonly employed in the aircraft industry. Four-point and three-point load tests were conducted on a large number of sandwich-beam specimens, fabricated by using fiber-glass reinforced plastics (both unidirectional and woven-glass cloth) and DTD 685 aluminum alloy for the facings with aluminum honeycomb core and polyurethane foam cores and the indigenously available Araldite as the bonding medium between the core and the facings.The flexural stiffness of the composite sandwich specimens used in this investigation compared favorably with theoretical predictions. The shear stiffness was found to be about 55 percent and 45 percent of the theoretically predicted values for FRP (fiberglass-reinforced-plastic) cloth and FRP unidirectional laminates with aluminum honeycomb core sandwich, respectively. The failure load as determined by experiments was less than the theoretically predicted safe load. There was a loss of strength as well as a steep decrease in the failure load in the case of low density foam core.It was concluded that FRP facing plates with aluminum honeycomb core sandwich structure may be preferred to similar aluminum-alloy facing sandwich construction if high flexural stiffness and shear stiffness properties are required at less cost and weight. Indigenously available Araldite was quite satisfactory for bonding the core to the facings.This investigation has confirmed the importance of experiments in the field of sandwich structures which can effectively replace other conventional uneconomical structural or machine members which are currently in use.  相似文献

采用嵌锁组装工艺制备了碳纤维/树脂基复合材料方形蜂窝夹芯梁,实验研究了低速冲击载荷下简支和固支夹芯梁的动态响应及失效机理,获得了不同冲击速度下夹芯梁的失效模式,分析了其损伤演化过程和失效机理,探讨了冲击速度、边界条件、面板质量分布以及槽口方向等因素对夹芯梁破坏模式及承载能力的影响。研究结果表明,芯材长肋板槽口方向对夹芯梁的失效模式有较大影响,槽口向上的芯材跨中部分产生了挤压变形,而槽口向下的芯材跨中部分槽口在拉伸作用下出现了沿槽口开裂失效,继而引起面板脱粘和肋板断裂;同等质量下,较厚的上面板设计可以提高夹芯梁的抗冲击能力,冲击速度越大,夹芯梁的峰值载荷和承载能力越高;固支边界使得夹芯梁的后失效行为呈现出明显的强化效应,在夹芯梁跨中部分发生初始失效后出现了后继的固支端芯材和面板断裂失效模式。  相似文献

A combined analytical and experimental investigation of the indentation failure of a composite sandwich panel has been undertaken. Two cases have been studied: a sandwich panel with carbon/epoxy facing and a PVC foam layer supported on a rigid base and indented at the center with a cylindrical indentor; and a sandwich beam with symmetrical facing and core materials as in the sandwich panels. The load-deflection behavior of the loaded facing was monitored during the test. Strains were also measured near the load on both surfaces of the facing using embedded strain gages. A full-field analysis of the in-plane displacements in the foam was conducted using the moiré method. The problem was modeled as an elastic beam resting on an elastic-plastic foundation. Initiation of indentation failure occurs when the foundation yields, while catastrophic failure takes place when the compression facing fractures. The experimental results are in good agreement with the results of the analytical modeling based on the Winkler foundation.  相似文献

We size the shell thickness of a pressurised elliptical fuselage and analyse the weight gains or savings compared to a circular fuselage. Three fuselage construction cases are analysed: a monolithic construction, a symmetric sandwich with two facesheets of equal thicknesses separated by a lightweight core, and an unsymmetric sandwich with two facesheets of different thicknesses. We develop a proper dimensionless analysis comparing the proposed elliptical fuselage with a circular one for two different scenarios: equivalent cross-section areas and enclosing a similar rectangular box. We apply a semi-analytical thin shell theory to compute the loading due to pressurisation around the circumference of the fuselage cross-section. We select the facesheet thicknesses above and below the sandwich core at every location to minimise weight. The goal is to compute the structural weight gain or penalty that is incurred by replacing a circular fuselage with an elliptical one to resist internal pressurisation in function of the scenario, eccentricity, fuselage diameter, and sandwich core thickness. We find that an elliptical cross-section incurs a significant penalty in terms of necessary facesheet thickness even with an optimised unsymmetric sandwich construction. This penalty can be minimised by keeping the eccentricity low, the loading intensity low and the core thick.  相似文献

Sandwich composites are of interest in marine applications due to their high strength-to-weight ratio and tailorable mechanical properties, but their resistance to air blast loading is not well understood. Full-scale 100 kg TNT equivalent air blast testing at a 15 m stand-off distance was performed on glass-fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) sandwich panels with polyvinyl chloride (PVC); polymethacrylimid (PMI); and styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) foam cores, all possessing the same thickness and density. Further testing was performed to assess the blast resistance of a sandwich panel containing a stepwise graded density SAN foam core, increasing in density away from the blast facing side. Finally a sandwich panel containing compliant polypropylene (PP) fibres within the GFRP front face-sheet, was subjected to blast loading with the intention of preventing front face-sheet cracking during blast. Measurements of the sandwich panel responses were made using high-speed digital image correlation (DIC), and post-blast damage was assessed by sectioning the sandwich panels and mapping the damage observed. It was concluded that all cores are effective in improving blast tolerance and that the SAN core was the most blast tolerant out of the three foam polymer types, with the DIC results showing a lower deflection measured during blast, and post-blast visual inspections showing less damage suffered. By grading the density of the core it was found that through thickness crack propagation was mitigated, as well as damage in the higher density foam layers, thus resulting in a smoother back face-sheet deflection profile. By incorporating compliant PP fibres into the front face-sheet, cracking was prevented in the GFRP, despite damage being present in the core and the interfaces between the core and face-sheets.  相似文献

The problem of low-speed impact of a one-dimensional sandwich panel by a rigid cylindrical projectile is considered. The core of the sandwich panel is functionally graded such that the density, and hence its stiffness, vary through the thickness. The problem is a combination of static contact problem and dynamic response of the sandwich panel obtained via a simple nonlinear spring-mass model (quasi-static approximation). The variation of core Young’s modulus is represented by a polynomial in the thickness coordinate, but the Poisson’s ratio is kept constant. The two-dimensional elasticity equations for the plane sandwich structure are solved using a combination of Fourier series and Galerkin method. The contact problem is solved using the assumed contact stress distribution method. For the impact problem we used a simple dynamic model based on quasi-static behavior of the panel—the sandwich beam was modeled as a combination of two springs, a linear spring to account for the global deflection and a nonlinear spring to represent the local indentation effects. Results indicate that the contact stiffness of the beam with graded core increases causing the contact stresses and other stress components in the vicinity of contact to increase. However, the values of maximum strains corresponding to the maximum impact load are reduced considerably due to grading of the core properties. For a better comparison, the thickness of the functionally graded cores was chosen such that the flexural stiffness was equal to that of a beam with homogeneous core. The results indicate that functionally graded cores can be used effectively to mitigate or completely prevent impact damage in sandwich composites.  相似文献

钢筋锈蚀膨胀引起保护层混凝土开裂是影响钢筋混凝土结构耐久性和服役寿命的重要因素。考虑到混凝土细观结构组成对保护层破坏模式的影响,从细观角度出发,将混凝土看作由骨料、砂浆基质及两者间界面过渡区组成的三相复合材料,建立了描述钢筋锈胀力学行为的混凝土随机骨料模型。采用塑性损伤本构关系模型来表征砂浆基质和过渡区界面的力学行为,假定钢筋均匀锈蚀,对钢筋锈胀引起的混凝土保护层开裂破坏过程进行了细观数值研究。对比了宏观均匀模型与细观非均质模型下获得的保护层破坏模式,探讨了径厚比(c/d)、钢筋位置(中部和角区)及混凝土拉伸强度对保护层破坏模式及保护层胀裂时钢筋锈蚀水平的影响,得到了一些有益结论。  相似文献

Architectural sandwich panels with thin-walled cold-formed steel facings and rigid foamed insulating core are becoming more and more popular as enclosures for system buildings. In this paper, the structural behavior, including flexural stresses/deflections, flexural wrinkling, axial stability, thermal stresses and vibration, is presented, summarizing more than a decade of research. Methods used are analytical (boundaryvalued approaches), numerical (finite-strip, finite-layer, finite prism approaches) and experimental (full-scale testings). 采用有限元方法研究爆炸载荷下四边固支孔结构金属复合夹芯板的动力响应及吸能特性,给出了孔结构金属复合夹芯板的动力响应过程,得到夹芯板的变形模式,比较了孔结构金属复合夹芯板与非孔结构金属复合夹芯板的抗爆炸冲击性能,同时讨论了孔大小、间距、排布方式和面板质量分布等因素对孔结构金属复合夹芯板抗爆炸冲击性能的影响。研究结果表明,迎爆面外面板的孔设计使爆炸冲击波穿过孔洞直接作用在芯材上,增强了芯材的压缩,从而提高了夹芯板的能量吸收能力。同等面密度情况下,内外面板厚度比大于1的孔结构金属复合夹芯板变形挠度小于内外面板厚度比小于1的孔结构金属复合夹芯板。进一步研究发现,通过合理设计内外面板的质量分布,可以使孔结构金属复合夹芯板的抗爆炸冲击性能最优。  相似文献

采用真空导入成型工艺,制备出在面板与芯材界面上具有创新构型的点阵增强型复合材料夹层结构。对其面板拉伸性能、夹层结构剪切与平压性能进行了实验研究,得出点阵增强型复合材料夹层结构经树脂柱增强后,剪切与平压性能均得以提高的结论。对不同跨高比复合材料夹层结构开展了三点与四点弯曲实验,研究其典型受力破坏形态与机理。基于Eshelby等效夹杂原理,采用Mori-Tanaka方法求解了点阵增强型复合材料夹层结构经树脂柱增强后的剪切性能。利用经典夹层梁理论和非线性有限元模拟方法,预估了试件抗弯刚度与受弯极限承载力,理论分析与实验结果较吻合。  相似文献

Motions of a sandwich plate with symmetric facings are studied in the framework of the three-dimensional equations of elasticity. Both the core and facings are assumed to be isotropic and linearly elastic.Harmonic wave solutions, which satisfy traction-free face conditions and continuity conditions of tractions and displacements at the interfaces, are obtained for four cases: symmetric plane strain solutions for extensional motion, antisymmetric plane strain solutions for flexural motion, and solutions for the symmetric and antisymmetric SH-waves. The dispersion relation for each of these cases is obtained and computed. In order to exhibit the effect of the ratios of facing to core thicknesses, elastic stiffnesses and densities, on the dynamic behavior of sandwich plates, dispersion curves are computed and compared for plates with thick, light, and soft facings as well as for plates with thin, heavy, and stiff facings. Asymptotic expressions of dispersion relations for extensional, flexural, and symmetric SH-waves are obtained in explicit form, as the frequencies and wave numbers approach zero.The thickness vibrations in sandwich plates are studied in detail. The resonance frequencies and modal functions of the thickness-shear and thickness-stretch motions are obtained. Simple algebraic formulas for predicting the lowest thickness-shear and the lowest thickness-stretch frequencies are deduced. The orthogonality of the thickness modal functions is established.  相似文献

本文针对均匀温度场下四边简支和四边固支金属点阵夹层板的临界热屈曲温度进行了求解和参数影响分析。将点阵夹芯等效为均匀连续体,并且将夹层板的剪切刚度近似为点阵夹芯的抗剪切刚度,忽略夹芯的抗弯刚度且认为夹层板主要由面板来提供抗弯刚度。对于无法获得解析解的四边固支条件,通过对未知变量进行双傅里叶展开的方法求解了Ressiner夹层板模型的临界屈曲温度,理论分析结果与有限元计算结果吻合良好。进一步分析了不同边界条件、点阵胞元构型、点阵材料相对密度、面板厚度等对临界屈曲温度的影响规律。  相似文献

钢板混凝土剪力墙作为一种新型的抗侧力构件,具有良好的耗能能力和抗冲击性能,已逐渐应用于建筑工程结构的抗震和防护结构的抗爆设计。设计了3个试件,分别为普通钢筋混凝土板、单侧钢板混凝土板和夹心钢板混凝土板,开展了钢板混凝土剪力墙的接触爆炸试验,并通过非线性程序LS-DYNA建立了3个钢板混凝土剪力墙试件的数值模型,对比分析了不同试件在接触爆炸作用下的动态响应、破坏模式和抗爆性能。试验和数值分析结果表明:接触爆炸作用下,试验设计的3种试件呈现3种破坏模式;普通钢筋混凝土板中部发生混凝土贯穿破坏,钢筋发生较大弯曲变形;单侧钢板混凝土板由于栓钉拔出发生钢板和混凝土分离,丧失整体性和继续承载能力;夹心钢板混凝土板发生上层混凝土压碎,夹心钢板、上层和下层混凝土板连接性能较强,整体性较好,具有继续承载的能力,且夹心钢板混凝土板跨中挠度和混凝土碎块飞溅距离较小。单侧钢板混凝土板和夹心钢板混凝土板配置钢筋网可以显著增强混凝土层和钢板的连接性能,有效减小上下层混凝土的碎裂和剥落,增强其整体性和抗爆性能。  相似文献

应用泡沫金属子弹撞击加载的方式研究了固支方形夹层板和等质量实体板的动力响应,分别应用激光测速装置和位移传感器测量了泡沫子弹的撞击速度和后面板中心点的位移历史,给出了夹层板的变形与失效模式,研究了子弹冲量、面板厚度、泡沫芯层厚度及芯层密度对夹层板抗撞击性能的影响。结果表明,后面板中心点挠度最大,周边最小,整体变形为穹形,且伴有花瓣形的变形。参数研究表明,通过增加面板厚度或芯层厚度均能有效控制后面板的挠度,改善夹层板的能量吸收能力,结构响应对子弹冲量和芯层密度比较敏感。实验结果对多孔金属夹层结构的优化设计具有一定的参考价值。 更多还原  相似文献

Nonlinear behavior of composite sandwich beams in three-point bending   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The load-deflection behavior of a composite sandwich beam in three-point bending was investigated. The beam was made of unidirectional carbon/epoxy facings and a polyvinyl chloride closed-cell foam core. The load-deflection curves were plotted up to the point of failure initiation. They consist of an initial linear part followed by a nonlinear portion. A nonlinear mechanics of materials analysis that accounts for the combined effect of the nonlinear behavior of the facings and core materials (material nonlinearity) and the large deflections of the beam (geometric nonlinearity) was developed. The theoretical predictions were in good agreement with the experimental results. It was found that the effect of material nonlinearity on the deflection of the beam is more pronounced for shear-dominated core failures in the case of short span lengths. It is due to the nonlinear shear stress-strain behavior of the core. For long span lengths, the observed nonlinearity is small and is attributed to the combined effect of the facings nonlinear stress-strain behavior and the large deflections of the beam.  相似文献

The paper, associating experiment and simulation approaches, deals with the debonding propagation between a thin bonded cement-based overlay and a substrate simulating a repair of old concrete structure. The material used for the overlay is a fibre reinforced and rubberised mortar. In the experimental investigations, three point static bending tests were carried out on composite specimens. The effects of shrinkage of the overlay, restrained by the substrate, and the role of fibre reinforcement are thus involved. Direct tensile tests on notched specimens were firstly conducted to obtain the tensile strength and the residual normal stress-crack opening relationship. The debonding opening-residual normal tensile stress relationship was investigated by static tensile tests. The propagation of the debonding interface was monitored using a video-microscope with an enlargement of 175x. On the basis of the parameters identified and quantified, the above mentioned static tests were modelled by the finite element method using CAST3M code developed in France by CEA (Commission for Atomic Energy). The model predictions showed good agreement with the experimental results. The shrinkage effect on the durability of the composite specimens was clarified. The results also proved the important role of fibre-reinforcement in restraining the crack opening by transferring stresses through the crack.  相似文献

Elasticity solutions for sandwich panels assembled with nonrigid bondings and subjected to temperature changes are presented. The solutions satisfy the equilibrium equations of the face and core element, and the compability equations of stresses and strains at the interfaces. An experimental program is conducted to measure the normal strains in the faces of sandwich specimens under different temperature changes. A heat chamber is designed and used to cause thermal gradients across the specimens. The material properties were determined experimentally and used in conjunction with the analytical solutions. Both analytical and experimental results are found to be in very good agreement.  相似文献
