A class of nonlinear nonlocal for singularly perturbed Robin initial boundary value problems for reaction diffusion equations is considered. Under suitable conditions, firstly, the outer solution of the original problem is obtained, secondly, using the stretched variable, the composing expansion method and the expanding theory of power series the initial layer is constructed, finally, using the theory of differential inequalities the asymptotic behavior of solution for the initial boundary value problems are studied and educing some relational inequalities the existence and uniqueness of solution for the original problem and the uniformly valid asymptotic estimation is discussed. An initial-boundary value problem for shallow equation system consisting of water dynamics equations, silt transport equation, the equation of bottom topography change, and of some boundary and initial conditions is studied, the existence of its generalized solution and semidiscrete mixed finite element (MFE) solution was discussed, and the error estimates of the semidiscrete MFE solution was derived. We prove the asymptotic character of a solution of the Cauchy problem for a singularly perturbed linear system of differential equations with degenerate matrix of the coefficients of derivatives in the case where the limit matrix pencil is regular and has multiple “finite” and “infinite” elementary divisors. By using “the method of modified two-variable”,“the method of mixing perturbation ”and introducing four small parameters, the problem of the nonlinear unsymmetrical bending for orthotropic rectangular thin plate with linear variable thickness is studied. It is shown that the governing equation for the stream function of the Darcy free convection boundary layer flows past a vertical surface is invariant under arbitrary translations of the transverse coordinate y. The consequences of this basic symmetry property on the solutions corresponding to a prescribed surface temperature distribution T w (x) are investigated. It is found that starting with a “primary solution” which describes the temperature boundary layer on an impermeable surface, infinitely many “translated solutions” can be generated which form a continuous group, the “translation group” of the given primary solution. The elements of this group describe free convection boundary layer flows from permeable counterparts of the original surface with a transformed temperature distribution [(T)\tilde]w ( x ){\tilde {T}_w \left( x \right)}, when simultaneously a suitable lateral suction/injection of the fluid is applied. It turns out in this way that several exact solutions discovered during the latter few decades are in fact not basically new solutions, but translated counterparts of some formerly reported primary solutions. We prove the asymptotic stability of two-state nonplanar Riemann solutions for a class of multidimensional hyperbolic systems of conservation laws when the initial data are perturbed and viscosity is added. The class considered here is those systems whose flux functions in different directions share a common complete system of Riemann invariants, the level surfaces of which are hyperplanes. In particular, we obtain the uniqueness of the self-similar L entropy solution of the two-state nonplanar Riemann problem. The asymptotic stability to which the main result refers is in the sense of the convergence as t→∞ in Lloc1 of the space of directions ξ = x/t. That is, the solution u(t, x) of the perturbed problem satisfies u(t, tξ)→R(ξ) as t→∞, in Lloc1(ℝn), where R(ξ) is the self-similar entropy solution of the corresponding two-state nonplanar Riemann problem.  相似文献

The derivation of an expression of the macroscopic stress tensor in terms of microscopic variables in systems of finite interacting particles is discussed from different points of view. It is shown that in volume averaging the introduction of a fictitious “interaction stress field”T I with special boundary conditions on the boundary of the averaging volume is needed. In ensemble averaging similar results are obtained by using a multipole expansion of the local stress and force fields. In the appropriate limiting cases, the obtained results are shown to be consistent with the results of kinetic theories of polymer solutions. Fluid Mechanics of Tropical Cyclones   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Typhoons in the northwest Pacific and hurricanes in the northeast Atlantic are particular instances of a global phenomenon with frequently disastrous consequences known as the Tropical Cyclone (TC). This is an intense cyclone, generated over a tropical ocean with kinetic energy 1018 J or more, which extends over several hundred kilometres and yet is above all characterized by its calm central region: “the eye of the storm”. In a TC (not, of course, to be confused with such completely different phenomena as tornadoes) both the energy input and its dissipation mainly occur within that boundary layer between air and ocean which, at high TC wind speeds of 50–60 m/s, comprises essentially “a third fluid”: ocean spray. Afterwards, as a TC reaches land, disastrous effects of several different kinds may occur, and this paper outlines how fluid mechanics contributes towards worldwide struggles to reduce the human impact of TC disasters. The flow in a laminar boundary layer for an arbitrary periodic main stream is considered at high frequencies when the fluid is incompressible. The analysis, incorporating length scales appropriate to the thin “Stokes” layer immediately adjacent to the surface and to the outer “Prandtl” boundary layer, involves expressing the dependent variables as mean parts plus superimposed periodic parts and expanding these in inverse powers of the frequency parameter in the two layers. Thus earlier approaches based on physical arguments are placed in the context of a systematic mathematical expansion scheme which is itself formulated for more general main stream velocities than hitherto. Expressions for skin friction and heat transfer are obtained and briefly discussed.  相似文献

This short note completes the symmetry analysis of a class of quasi-linear partial differential equations considered in the previous paper (Nonlinear Dynamics 51: 309–316, 2008): it deals with an “exceptional” Lie point symmetry which is admitted only if the involved parameters are fixed by precise relationships. The peculiarity of this symmetry is enhanced by the fact that, combined with the presence of a conditional symmetry of “weak” type, it leads to a family of solutions which include, as a particular case, a relevant solution of the Grad–Schlüter–Shafranov equation, well known in plasma physics.  相似文献

The paper presents a generic solution methodology for a quasi-static homogeneous monoclinic piezoelectric beam under axially distributed electric and mechanical surface loads and body forces expressed as polynomials of degree K≥ 0 of the axis variable. (In the absence of any electrical loading, this problem is known as the Almansi–Michell problem). The stress and the electrical displacement components are presented as a set of polynomials of degree ≤K+2 of the axis variable (“solution hypothesis”) containing 4K unknown tip loading constants and 3K stress functions of two variables. The cases K=0,1 stand for uniform or linear distributed loads in the axis direction. The analysis is initiated by the Kth level and continues down to lower levels. The main result of this work generalizes the “elastic” solution given recently by O. Rand and the first author (2005). Examples of solutions for axially uniform distributed loads (K=0), and equilibrium in which the stress and the electrical displacement do not depend on the axis variable, are presented. The applications to constant body loads and a hydrostatic pressure are considered.   相似文献

By direct numerical simulation of the Navier-Stokes equations we investigate the reconnection of two antiparallel vortex tubes. A new type of perturbation of the initial vorticity field is given which is different from that presented in Refs. [8] and [9]. The formation and the evolution of the “curved vortex belts”, their mutual action with the “bridges” are found. These are important phenomena not studied by others. The Dafermos regularization of a system of n hyperbolic conservation laws in one space dimension has, near a Riemann solution consisting of n Lax shock waves, a self-similar solution u = u ε(X/T). In Lin and Schecter (2003, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 35, 884–921) it is shown that the linearized Dafermos operator at such a solution may have two kinds of eigenvalues: fast eigenvalues of order 1/ε and slow eigenvalues of order one. The fast eigenvalues represent motion in an initial time layer, where near the shock waves solutions quickly converge to traveling-wave-like motion. The slow eigenvalues represent motion after the initial time layer, where motion between the shock waves is dominant. In this paper we use tools from dynamical systems and singular perturbation theory to study the slow eigenvalues. We show how to construct asymptotic expansions of eigenvalue-eigenfunction pairs to any order in ε. We also prove the existence of true eigenvalue-eigenfunction pairs near the asymptotic expansions.  相似文献

Vortex Shedding from a Hemisphere in a Turbulent Boundary Layer   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Supercritical turbulent boundary layer flow over a hemisphere with a rough surface (Re= 150000) has been simulated using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and analyzed using the Karhunen--Loève expansion (“Proper Orthogonal Decomposition,” POD). The time-dependent inflow condition is provided from a separate LES of a boundary layer developing behind a barrier fence and a set of vorticity generators. LES results using significantly different grid resolutions are compared with a corresponding wind tunnel experiment to demonstrate the reliability of the simulation. The separation processes are analyzed by inspecting second-order moments, time spectra, and instantaneous velocity distributions. Applying POD, a detailed study of the spatiotemporal structure of the separation processes has been carried out. From this analysis it can be concluded that the major event in the separated flow behind the obstacle is the shedding of “von Kármán”-type vortices, which can be represented by the first three energetically dominant modes. In this paper, by ssing the theory of Fourier series, some necessary and sufficient conditions of existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions of a class of higher order neutral type equations are obtained. The main results by Shi Jianguo in “Discussion on the periodic solutions for linear equation of neutral type with constant coefficients” are improved, i. e., the condition |b0|≠1 instead of the condtion |b0|<1/2 of Theorem 1 by Shi Jianguo is given. This paper mainly concerns the mathematical justification of a viscous compressible multi-fluid model linked to the Baer-Nunziato model used by engineers, see for instance Ishii (Thermo-fluid dynamic theory of two-phase flow, Eyrolles, Paris, 1975), under a “stratification” assumption. More precisely, we show that some approximate finite-energy weak solutions of the isentropic compressible Navier–Stokes equations converge, on a short time interval, to the strong solution of this viscous compressible multi-fluid model, provided the initial density sequence is uniformly bounded with corresponding Young measures which are linear convex combinations of m Dirac measures. To the authors’ knowledge, this provides, in the multidimensional in space case, a first positive answer to an open question, see Hillairet (J Math Fluid Mech 9:343–376, 2007), with a stratification assumption. The proof is based on the weak solutions constructed by Desjardins (Commun Partial Differ Equ 22(5–6):977–1008, 1997) and on the existence and uniqueness of a local strong solution for the multi-fluid model established by Hillairet assuming initial density to be far from vacuum. In a first step, adapting the ideas from Hoff and Santos (Arch Ration Mech Anal 188:509–543, 2008), we prove that the sequence of weak solutions built by Desjardins has extra regularity linked to the divergence of the velocity without any relation assumption between λ and μ. Coupled with the uniform bound of the density property, this allows us to use appropriate defect measures and their nice properties introduced and proved by Hillairet (Aspects interactifs de la m’ecanique des fluides, PhD Thesis, ENS Lyon, 2005) in order to prove that the Young measure associated to the weak limit is the convex combination of m Dirac measures. Finally, under a non-degeneracy assumption of this combination (“stratification” assumption), this provides a multi-fluid system. Using a weak–strong uniqueness argument, we prove that this convex combination is the one corresponding to the strong solution of the multi-fluid model built by Hillairet, if initial data are equal. We will briefly discuss this assumption. To complete the paper, we also present a blow-up criterion for this multi-fluid system following (Huang et al. in Serrin type criterion for the three-dimensional viscous compressible flows, arXiv, 2010).  相似文献
