A thermo-electro-mechanical contact analysis has been performed for a finite piezoelectric strip, which is subjected to the joint actions of a rigid, flat punch and a transient convective heat supply. The Laplace transform and Fourier sine and cosine transforms were applied in solving the governing equations. A detailed analysis of the characteristic roots of the corresponding characteristic equation was made. Real fundamental solutions were derived, which can readily lead to real solutions to the thermo-electro-mechanical quantities. A Cauchy-type singular integral equation was obtained for the stated problem and then solved numerically. Closed form solutions of a special case were obtained. To obtain the accurate solution in the time domain, an effective numerical inversion algorithm of the Laplace transform was applied. Detailed analyses were performed to reveal the variation law of temperature, contact stress beneath the punch, stress intensity factor at the punch edge and strain with time. Parametric studies were performed to discover the effects of the layer thickness on the distribution of temperature, contact stress beneath the punch and stress intensity factor at the punch edge.  相似文献

The two-dimensional thermoelastic sliding frictional contact of functionally graded material (FGM) coated half-plane under the plane strain deformation is investigated in this paper. A rigid punch is sliding over the surface of the FGM coating with a constant velocity. Frictional heating, with its value proportional to contact pressure, friction coefficient and sliding velocity, is generated at the interface between the punch and the FGM coating. The material properties of the coating vary exponentially along the thickness direction. In order to solve the heat conduction equation analytically, the homogeneous multi-layered model is adopted for treating the graded thermal diffusivity coefficient with other thermomechanical properties being kept as the given exponential forms. The transfer matrix method and Fourier integral transform technique are employed to convert the problem into a Cauchy singular integral equation which is then solved numerically to obtain the unknown contact pressure and the in-plane component of the surface stresses. The effects of the gradient index, Peclet number and friction coefficient on the thermoelastic contact characteristics are discussed in detail. Numerical results show that the distribution of the contact stress can be altered and therefore the thermoelastic contact damage can be modified by adjusting the gradient index, Peclet number and friction coefficient.  相似文献

The frictionless contact problem of a functionally graded piezoelectric layered half-plane in-plane strain state under the action of a rigid flat or cylindrical punch is investigated in this paper. It is assumed that the punch is a perfect electrical conductor with a constant potential. The electro-elastic properties of the functionally graded piezoelectric materials (FGPMs) vary exponentially along the thickness direction. The problem is reduced to a pair of coupled Cauchy singular integral equations by using the Fourier integral transform technique and then is numerically solved to determine the contact pressure, surface electric charge distribution, normal stress and electric displacement fields. For a flat punch, the normal stress intensity factor and electric displacement intensity factor are also given to quantitatively characterize the singularity behavior at the punch ends. Numerical results show that both material property gradient of the FGPM layer and punch geometry have a significant influence on the contact performance of the FGPM layered half-plane.  相似文献

The problem of thermoelastic contact mechanics for the coating/substrate system with functionally graded properties is investigated, where the rigid flat punch is assumed to slide over the surface of the coating involving frictional heat generation. With the coefficient of friction being constant, the inertia effects are neglected and the solution is obtained within the framework of steady-state plane thermoelasticity. The graded material exists as a nonhomogeneous interlayer between dissimilar, homogeneous phases of the coating/substrate system or as a nonhomogeneous coating deposited on the substrate. The material nonhomogeneity is represented by spatially varying thermoelastic moduli expressed in terms of exponential functions. The Fourier integral transform method is employed and the formulation of the current thermoelastic contact problem is reduced to a Cauchy-type singular integral equation of the second kind for the unknown contact pressure. Numerical results include the distributions of the contact pressure and the in-plane component of the surface stress under the prescribed thermoelastic environment for various combinations of geometric, loading, and material parameters of the coated medium. Moreover, in order to quantify and characterize the singular behavior of contact pressure distributions at the edges of the flat punch, the stress intensity factors are defined and evaluated in terms of the solution to the governing integral equation.  相似文献

Analytical and computational methods are developed for contact mechanics analysis of functionally graded materials (FGMs) that possess elastic gradation in the lateral direction. In the analytical formulation, the problem of a laterally graded half-plane in sliding frictional contact with a rigid punch of an arbitrary profile is considered. The governing partial differential equations and the boundary conditions of the problem are satisfied through the use of Fourier transformation. The problem is then reduced to a singular integral equation of the second kind which is solved numerically by using an expansion–collocation technique. Computational studies of the sliding contact problems of laterally graded materials are conducted by means of the finite element method. In the finite element analyses, the laterally graded half-plane is discretized by quadratic finite elements for which the material parameters are specified at the centroids. Flat and triangular punch profiles are considered in the parametric analyses. The comparisons of the results generated by the analytical technique to those computed by the finite element method demonstrate the high level of accuracy attained by both methods. The presented numerical results illustrate the influences of the lateral nonhomogeneity and the coefficient of friction on the contact stresses.  相似文献

The advancing, frictional contact problem for a rigid pin indenting an infinite plate with a circular hole is considered. The formulation is general, and considers remotely applied plate-stresses in addition to pin loads. Using the theory of generalized functions, it is found that the governing equation in full sliding is a singular integro-differential equation (SIDE). Partial-slip behavior is governed by an implicit, coupled singular integral equation (SIE) pair. Numerical solutions are presented for both types of problems. It is found that the contact tractions in monotonic loading become independent of the coefficient of friction above a certain threshold value. Finally, problems involving typical ‘fretting-type’ pin loads with and without remote-stresses are also investigated, revealing remarkable effects of the degree of conformality and load path on the steady-state traction distributions.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the stationary plane contact of an insulated rigid punch and a half-space which is elastically anisotropic but thermally conducting. The frictional heat generation inside the contact region due to the sliding of the punch over the half-space surface and the heat radiation outside the contact region are taken into account. With the help of Fourier integral transform, the problem is reduced to a system of two singular integral equations. The equations are solved numerically by using Gauss-Jacobi and trapezoidal-rule quadratures. The effects of anisotropy and thermal effects are shown graphically.  相似文献

The transient response of a piezoelectric strip with an eccentric crack normal to the strip boundaries under applied electromechanical impacts is considered. By using the Laplace transform, the mixed initial-boundary-value problem is reduced to triple series equations, then to a singular integral equation of the first kind by introducing an auxiliary function. The Lobatto–Chebyshev collocation technique is adopted to solve numerically the resulting singular integral equation. Dynamic field intensity factors and energy release rate are obtained for both a permeable crack and an impermeable crack. The effects of the crack position and the material properties on the dynamic stress intensity factor are examined and numerical results are presented graphically.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the study of a frictional sliding contact problem between a homogeneous magneto-electro-elastic material (MEEM) and a perfectly conducting rigid flat punch subjected to magneto-electro-mechanical loads. The problem is formulated under plane strain conditions. Using Fourier transform, the resulting plane magneto-electro-elasticity equations are converted analytically into three coupled singular integral equations in which the main unknowns are the normal contact stress, the electric displacement and the magnetic induction. An analytical closed-form solution is obtained for the normal contact stress, electric displacement and magnetic induction distributions. The main objective of this paper is to study the effect of the friction coefficient and the elastic, electric and magnetic coefficients on the surface contact pressure, electric displacement and magnetic induction distributions for the case of flat stamp profile.  相似文献

Summary A problem of partial sliding along a planar crack with a local drop in frictional resistance is investigated. A sliding zone initiates in the area of reduced friction, and then propagates as the applied shear load is monotonously increased. The problem is formulated in general terms, and then solved for the case when sliding spreads as a penny-shaped zone. Conditions under which the front of the zone stays circular during sliding are analyzed. It is observed that the axisymmetry of the profile of frictional resistance does not necessarily guarantee uniform propagation of sliding in the radial direction. The circular shape becomes the most favorable growth condition only if the shear modes are related in a certain way. The problem is studied based on the criterion of propagation that stress intensity factors(SIFs) for II and III modes vanish on the boundary of the sliding zone. The singular integrals in expressions for the SIFs are reduced to non-singular ones. Analytical solutions are derived for a number of special cases where the radius of the sliding zone is related to the applied shear load. This work is supported by the National Science Foundation through grant DGE-0209543 to the University of New Mexico.  相似文献

A theoretical model is presented to study the elastic deformation process and frictional sliding behavior in single piezoelectric fibre push-out tests. Based on the theoretical model and some necessary simplifications, stress and electric fields are obtained for push-out tests of a circular piezoelectric fibre embedded in an elastic matrix. Numerical results of a piezoelectric fibre/expoxy matrix system are presented to verify the proposed formulation. The study shows that there is a significant effect of the piezoelectric parameter and embedded fibre length on stress transfer, electric field distribution and load-displacement curve of the frictional sliding process. This study also indicates that the piezoelectric effect has a distinct influence on the mechanical behavior and properties of the interface in a fibre/matrix system.  相似文献

The problem of a rigid punch contacting with a finite graded layer on a rigid substrate is investigated within the framework of steady-state plane strain thermoelasticity, in which heat generated by contact friction is considered with a constant friction coefficient and inertia effects are neglected. The material properties of the graded layer vary according to an exponential function in the thickness direction. Fourier integral transform method and transform matrix approach are employed to reduce the current thermocontact problem to the second kind of Cauchy-type singular integral equation. Distributions of the contact pressure and the in-plane stress under the prescribed thermoelastic environment with different parameter combinations, including ratio of shear moduli, relative sliding speed, friction coefficient and thermal parameters are obtained and analyzed, as well as the stress singularity and the stress intensity factors near the contact edges. The results should be helpful for the design of surfaces with strong wear resistance and novel graded materials for real applications.  相似文献

In this article, we study the axisymmetric tor-sional contact problem of a half-space coated with func-tionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) and subjected to a rigid circular punch. It is found that, along the thick-ness direction, the electromechanical properties of FGPMs change exponentially. We apply the Hankel integral trans-form technique and reduce the problem to a singular integral equation, and then numerically determine the unknown con-tact stress and electric displacement at the contact surface. The results show that the surface contact stress, surface azimuthal displacement, surface electric displacement, and inner electromechanical field are obviously dependent on the gradient index of the FGPM coating. It is found that we can adjust the gradient index of the FGPM coating to modify the distributions of the electric displacement and contact stress.  相似文献

Contact problem of anisotropic magneto-electro-elastic materials indented by a perfectly conducting cylindrical punch is investigated based on a complete coupling theory. The 12 cases of the distinctive eigenvalue distribution of the related governing equations are detailed. For 3 available eigenvalue distribution cases involving semi-infinite anisotropic magneto-electro-elastic materials, real fundamental solutions are provided. A system of singular integral equations is obtained and solved exactly. The explicit expressions for the coupled magneto-electro-elastic fields in the half-plane are presented in the form of elementary functions. Figures are plotted to show the effects of various parameters, such as the volume fraction of the piezoelectric phase, on the contact behaviors. In-depth analyses are given to explain how the various parameters cause the contact properties to change and develop. Connections between the present study and practical application are presented. This article may greatly benefit the experimental and numerical test involving magneto-electro-elastic materials.  相似文献

THE PERIODIC CRACK PROBLEM IN BONDED PIEZOELECTRIC MATERIALS   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
The problem of a periodic array of parallel cracks in a homogeneous piezoelectric strip bonded to a functionally graded piezoelectric material is investigated for inhomogeneous continuum. It is assumed that the material inhomogeneity is represented as the spatial varia- tion of the shear modulus in the form of an exponential function along the direction of cracks. The mixed boundary value problem is reduced to a singular integral equation by applying the Fourier transform, and the singular integral equation is solved numerically by using the Gauss- Chebyshev integration technique.Numerical results are obtained to illustrate the variations of the stress intensity factors as a function of the crack periodicity for different values of the material inhomogeneity.  相似文献

The dynamic response of a central crack in a piezoelectric layered composite plate under normal impact is analyzed. The crack is oriented normally to the interfaces. The Laplace and Fourier transform techniques are used to formulate the problem in terms of a singular integral equation. The order of stress singularity around the tip of the terminated crack is also obtained. Numerical calculations are carried out, and the main results presented are the variations of the dynamic stress intensity factor and the dynamic energy density factor versus time as functions of the geometric parameters and the piezoelectric material properties of the layered composite plate.  相似文献

This paper presents a theoretical method to investigate the multiple scattering of electro-elastic waves and the dynamic stress around a buried cavity in a functionally graded piezoelectric material layer bonded to a homogeneous piezoelectric material. The analytical solutions of wave fields are expressed by employing wave function expansion method, and the expanded mode coefficients are determined by satisfying the boundary conditions around the cavity. The image method is used to satisfy the mechanical and electrically short conditions at the free surface of the structure. According to the analytical expression of this problem, the numerical solutions of the dynamic stress concentration factor around the cavity are presented. The effects of the piezoelectric property, the position of the cavity in the layer, the incident wave number and the material properties on the dynamic stress around the cavity are analyzed. Analyses show that the piezoelectric property has great effect on the dynamic stress in the region of higher frequencies, and the effect increases with the decrease of the thickness of FGPM layer. If the material properties of the homogeneous piezoelectric material are greater than those at the surface of the structure, the dynamic stress resulting from the piezoelectric property is greater. The effect material properties at the two boundaries of FGPM layer on the distribution of dynamic stress around the cavity is also examined.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of a crack embedded in a half-plane piezoelectric solid with traction-induction free boundary is analyzed. A system of singular integral equations is formulated for the materials with general anisotropic piezoelectric properties and for the crack with arbitrary orientation. The kernel functions developed are in complex form for general anisotropic piezoelectric materials and are then specialized to the case of transversely isotropic piezoelectric materials which are in real form. The obtained coupled mechanical and electric real kernel functions may be reduced to those kernel functions for purely elastic problems when the electric effects disappear. The system of singular integral equations is solved numerically and the coupling effects of the mechanical and electric phenomena are presented by the generalized stress intensity factors for transversely isotropic piezoelectric materials.  相似文献
