A kinematic hardening model applicable to finite strains is presented. The kinematic hardening concept is based on the residual stresses that evolve due to different obstacles that are present in a polycrystalline material, such as grain boundaries, cross slips, etc. Since these residual stresses are a manifestation of the distortion of the crystal lattice a corresponding deformation gradient is introduced to represent this distortion. The residual stresses are interpreted in terms of the form of a back-stress tensor, i.e. the kinematic hardening model is based on a deformation gradient which determines the back-stress tensor. A set of evolution equations is used to describe the evolution of the deformation gradient. Non-dissipative quantities are allowed in the model and the implications of these are discussed. Von Mises plasticity for which the uniaxial stress–strain relation can be obtained in closed form serves as a model problem. For uniaxial loading, this model yields a kinematic hardening identical to the hardening produced by isotropic exponential hardening. The numerical implementation of the model is discussed. Finite element simulations showing the capabilities of the model are presented.  相似文献

A finite strain hyper elasto-plastic constitutive model capable to describe non-linear kinematic hardening as well as non-linear isotropic hardening is presented. In addition to the intermediate configuration and in order to model kinematic hardening, an additional configuration is introduced – the center configuration; both configurations are chosen to be isoclinic. The yield condition is formulated in terms of the Mandel stress and a back-stress with a structure similar to the Mandel stress. It is shown that the non-dissipative part of the plastic velocity gradient not governed by the thermodynamical framework and the corresponding quantity associated with the kinematic hardening influence the material behaviour to a large extent when kinematic hardening is present. However, for isotropic elasticity and isotropic hardening plasticity it is shown that the non-dissipative quantities have no influence upon the stress–strain relation. As an example, kinematic hardening von Mises plasticity is considered, which fulfils the plastic incompressibility condition and is independent of the hydrostatic pressure. To evaluate the response and to examine the influence of the non-dissipative quantities, simple shear is considered; no stress oscillations occur.  相似文献

In this paper, a new approach for constitutive modeling of strain range dependent cyclic hardening is proposed by extending the kinematic hardening model based on the critical state of dynamic recovery. It is assumed that isotropic, as well as kinematic, hardening consists of several parts, and that each part of isotropic hardening evolves when the corresponding part of kinematic hardening is in the critical state of dynamic recovery. The extended model is capable of simulating the cyclic hardening behavior in which different characteristics of cyclic hardening appear depending on strain range. The model is verified by simulating the relatively large cyclic straining tests of 304 stainless steel at ambient temperature, in which cyclic hardening does not stabilize before rupture if strain range exceeds a certain value. The model is further verified by predicting the history dependence of cyclic hardening under incremental cyclic loading and the maximum plastic strain dependence of strain hardening in cyclic tension.  相似文献

In this paper, an exact formula for the integration of the constitutive equations of kinematic hardening material is presented. Its algorithms are simple and clear. For isotropic hardening or mixed hardening material, the formula is still an exact solution for the case of radial loading, and it is an approximate solution with reasonable accuracy for the case of non-radial loading. The computation results show that the procedure proposed in this paper improves both accuracy and efficiency of numerical integration schemes adopted widely in elastic-plastic finite element analysis.  相似文献

In this paper a constitutive model for rigid-plastic hardening materials based on the Hencky logarithmic strain tensor and its corotational rates is introduced. The distortional hardening is incorporated in the model using a distortional yield function. The flow rule of this model relates the corotational rate of the logarithmic strain to the difference of the Cauchy stress and the back stress tensors employing deformation-induced anisotropy tensor. Based on the Armstrong–Fredrick evolution equation the kinematic hardening constitutive equation of the proposed model expresses the corotational rate of the back stress tensor in terms of the same corotational rate of the logarithmic strain. Using logarithmic, Green–Naghdi and Jaumann corotational rates in the proposed constitutive model, the Cauchy and back stress tensors as well as subsequent yield surfaces are determined for rigid-plastic kinematic, isotropic and distortional hardening materials in the simple shear deformation. The ability of the model to properly represent the sign and magnitude of the normal stress in the simple shear deformation as well as the flattening of yield surface at the loading point and its orientation towards the loading direction are investigated. It is shown that among the different cases of using corotational rates and plastic deformation parameters in the constitutive equations, the results of the model based on the logarithmic rate and accumulated logarithmic strain are in good agreement with anticipated response of the simple shear deformation.  相似文献

In this part, the Khan–Huang–Liang (KHL) constitutive model was extended to account for kinematic hardening characteristic behavior of materials. The extended model is then generalized and used to simulate experimental response of oxygen free high conductivity (OFHC) copper under cyclic shear straining and biaxial tension–torsion (multiaxial ratchetting) experiments presented in Part I (Khan et al., 2007). In addition, a new modification for the non-linear kinematic hardening rule of Karim–Ohno (Abdel-Karim and Ohno, 2000) is proposed to simulate multiaxial ratchetting behaviors. Although, the kinematic hardening contributes the most to the response, it is shown that, the loading rate effect, and a coupled isotropic and kinematic hardening effect should also be considered while simulating the multiaxial ratchetting behavior of OFHC copper. Furthermore, the newly modified kinematic hardening rules is able to fairly well simulate the multiaxial ratchetting experiments under different loading conditions, irrespective of the value of applied axial tensile stress, shear strain amplitude, pre-cyclic hardening and/or loading sequence.  相似文献

In this paper a finite deformation constitutive model for rigid plastic hardening materials based on the logarithmic strain tensor is introduced. The flow rule of this constitutive model relates the corotational rate of the logarithmic strain tensor to the difference of the deviatoric Cauchy stress and the back stress tensors. The evolution equation for the kinematic hardening of this model relates the corotational rate of the back stress tensor to the corotational rate of the logarithmic strain tensor. Using Jaumann, Green–Naghdi, Eulerian and logarithmic corotational rates in the proposed constitutive model, stress–strain responses and subsequent yield surfaces are determined for rigid plastic kinematic and isotropic hardening materials in the simple shear problem at finite deformations.  相似文献

This work gives the thermodynamically consistent theoretical formulations and the numerical implementation of a plasticity model fully coupled with damage. The formulation of the elasto-plastic-damage behavior of materials is introduced here within a framework that uses functional forms of hardening internal state variables in both damage and plasticity. The damage is introduced through a damage mechanics framework and utilizes an anisotropic damage measure to quantify the reduction of the material stiffness. In deriving the constitutive model, a local yield surface is used to determine the occurrence of plasticity and a local damage surface is used to determine the occurrence of damage. Isotropic hardening and kinematic hardening are incorporated as state variables to describe the change of the yield surface. Additionally, a damage isotropic hardening is incorporated as a state variable to describe the change of the damage surface. The hardening conjugate forces (stress-like terms) are general nonlinear functions of their corresponding hardening state variables (strain-like terms) and can be defined based on the desired material behavior. Various exponential and power law functional forms are studied in this formulation. The paper discusses the general concept of using such functional forms. however, it does not address the relevant appropriateness of certain forms to solve different problems. The proposed work introduces a strong coupling between damage and plasticity by utilizing damage and plasticity flow rules that are dependent on both the plastic and damage potentials. However, in addition to that the coupling is further enhanced through the use of the functional forms of the hardening variables introduced in this formulation. The use of this formulation in solving boundary value problems will be presented in future work. The fully implicit backward Euler scheme is developed for this model to be solved in a Newton–Raphson solution procedure.  相似文献

Coupled viscoplasticity damage constitutive model for concrete materials   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A coupled viscoplasticity damage constitutive model for concrete materials is developed within the framework of irreversible thermodynamics.Simultaneously the Helmholtz free energy function and a non-associated flow potential function are given, which include the internal variables of kinematic hardening, isotropic hardening and dam- age. Results from the numerical simulation show that the model presented can describe the deformation properties of the concrete without the formal hypotheses of yield criterion and failure criteria, such as the volume dilatancy under the compression,strain-rate sen- sitivity, stiffness degradation and stress-softening behavior beyond the peak stress which are brought by damages and fractures. Moreover,we could benefit from the application of the finite element method based on this model under complex loading because of not having to choose different constitutive models based on the deformation level.  相似文献

A method of the numerical solution of nonlinear unsteady problems of axisymmetric elastoplastic straining of shells of revolution with allowance for torque loading at high strains is proposed. The method is based on the geometrically nonlinear theory of the Timoshenko shells and the plasticity theory with due allowance for combined isotropic and kinematic hardening. The problem is solved with the use of the variational difference method. Results of numerical and experimental investigations of elastoplastic straining of cylindrical shells under proportional and sequential kinematic tensile and torque loading are reported.  相似文献

This paper deals with a thermodynamically consistent numerical formulation for coupled thermoplastic problems including phase-change phenomena and frictional contact. The final goal is to get an accurate, efficient and robust numerical model, able for the numerical simulation of industrial solidification processes. Some of the current issues addressed in the paper are the following. A fractional step method arising from an operator split of the governing differential equations has been used to solve the nonlinear coupled system of equations, leading to a staggered product formula solution algorithm. Nonlinear stability issues are discussed and isentropic and isothermal operator splits are formulated. Within the isentropic split, a strong operator split design constraint is introduced, by requiring that the elastic and plastic entropy, as well as the phase-change induced elastic entropy due to the latent heat, remain fixed in the mechanical problem. The formulation of the model has been consistently derived within a thermodynamic framework. All the material properties have been considered to be temperature dependent. The constitutive behavior has been defined by a thermoviscous/elastoplastic free energy function, including a thermal multiphase change contribution. Plastic response has been modeled by a J2 temperature dependent model, including plastic hardening and thermal softening. The constitutive model proposed accounts for a continuous transition between the initial liquid state, the intermediate mushy state and the final solid state taking place in a solidification process. In particular, a pure viscous deviatoric model has been used at the initial fluid-like state. A thermomecanical contact model, including a frictional hardening and temperature dependent coupled potential, is derived within a fully consistent thermodinamical theory. The numerical model has been implemented into the computational finite element code COMET developed by the authors. Numerical simulations of solidification processes show the good performance of the computational model developed.  相似文献

The rate-type constitutive relations of rate-independent metals with isotropic or kinematic hardening at finite elastic–plastic deformations were presented through a phenomenological approach. This approach includes the decomposition of finite deformation into elastic and plastic parts, which is different from both the elastic–plastic additive decomposition of deformation rate and Lee’s elastic–plastic multiplicative decomposition of deformation gradient. The objectivity of the constitutive relations was dealt with in integrating the constitutive equations. A new objective derivative of back stress was proposed for kinematic hardening. In addition, the loading criteria were discussed. Finally, the stress for simple shear elastic–plastic deformation was worked out.  相似文献

Thermodynamics of the damage and the healing processes for viscoplastic materials is discussed in detail and constitutive equations for coupled inelastic-damage-healing processes are proposed in a thermodynamic consistent framework. Small deformation state is utilized and the kinematic and the isotropic hardening effects for the damage and healing processes are introduced into the governing equations. Two new yield surfaces for the damage and healing processes are proposed that take into account the isotropic hardening effect. The computational aspect for solving the coupled elasto-plastic-damage-healing problem is investigated, and the mechanical behavior of the proposed polymeric based self healing system is obtained. Uniaxial compression tests are implemented on a shape memory polymer based self healing system and the damage and the healing are captured by measurement of the changes in the modulus of elasticity. It is concluded that the proposed constitutive equations can model the damage and healing effectively and the mechanical behavior of a shape memory polymer based self healing system can be precisely modeled using this formulation.  相似文献

The thermomechanical coupling in finite strain plasticity theory with non-linear kinematic hardening is analyzed within the present paper. This coupling is of utmost importance in many applications, e.g., in those showing low cycle fatigue (LCF) under large strain amplitudes. Since the by now classical thermomechanical coupling originally proposed by Taylor and Quinney cannot be used directly in case of kinematic hardening, the change in heat as a result of plastic deformation is computed by applying the first law of thermodynamics. Based on this balance law, together with a finite strain plasticity model, a novel variationally consistent method is elaborated. Within this method and following Stainier and Ortiz (2010), all unknown variables are jointly and conveniently computed by minimizing an incrementally defined potential. In sharp contrast to previously published works, the evolution equations are a priori enforced by employing a suitable parameterization of the flow rule and the evolution equations. The advantages of this parameterization are, at least, twofold. First, it leads eventually to an unconstrained stationarity problem which can be directly applied to any yield function being positively homogeneous of degree one, i.e., the approach shows a broad range of application. Secondly, the parameterization provides enough flexibility even for a broad range of non-associative models such as kinematic hardening of Armstrong–Frederick-type. Different to Stainier and Ortiz (2010), the continuous variational problem is approximated by a standard, fully-implicit time integration. The applicability of the resulting numerical implementation is finally demonstrated by analyzing the thermodynamically coupled response for a loading cycle.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss the adoption of the anisotropic hardening model due to the existence of Bauschinger effect when thin plate is applied by repeated loading. The loading condition of thin plates for linear kinematic hardening has been deduced in terms of generalized forces and generalized plastic deformation. And it can be extended to nonlinear kinematic hardening and mixed hardening. Finally as an example the numerical results are obtained for a circular plate.  相似文献

Based on pair functional potentials, Cauchy-Born rule and slip mechanism, a material model assembling with spring-bundle components, a cubage component and slip components is established to describe the elasto-plastic damage constitutive relation under finite deformation. The expansion/shrink, translation and distortion of yield surfaces can be calculated based on the hardening rule and Bauschinger effect defined on the slip component level. Both kinematic and isotropic hardening are included. Numerical simulations and predictions under tension, torsion, and combined tension-torsion proportional/non-proportional loading are performed to obtain the evolution of subsequent yield surfaces and elastic constants and compare with two sets of experimental data in literature, one for a very low work hardening aluminum alloy Al 6061-T6511, and another for a very high work hardening aluminum alloy annealed 1100 Al. The feature of the yield surface in shape change, which presents a sharp front accompanied by a blunt rear under proportional loading, is described by the latent hardening and Bauschinger effect of slip components. Further, the evolution law of subsequent yield surfaces under different proportional loading paths is investigated in terms of their equivalence. The numerical simulations under non-proportional loading conditions for annealed 1100 Al are performed, and the subsequent yield surfaces exhibit mixed cross effect because the kinematic hardening and isotropic hardening follow different evolution tendency when loading path changes. The results of non-proportional loading demonstrate that the present model has the ability to address the issue of complex loading due to the introduction of state variables on slip components. Moreover, as an elasto-plastic damage constitutive model, the present model can also reflect the variation of elastic constants through damage defined on the spring-bundle components.  相似文献

A phenomenological model for hardening–softening elasto-plasticity coupled with damage is presented. Specific kinematic internal variables are used to describe the mechanical state of the system. These, in the hypothesis of infinitesimal changes of configuration, are partitioned in the sum of a reversible and an irreversible part. The constitutive equations, developed in the framework of the Generalised Standard Material Model, are derived for reversible processes from an internal energy functional, postulated as the sum of the deformation energy and of the hardening energy both coupled with damage, while for irreversible phenomena from a dissipation functional.Performing duality transformations, the conjugated potentials of the complementary elastic energy and of the complementary dissipation are obtained. From the latter a generalised elastic domain in the extended space of stresses and thermodynamic forces is derived. The model, which is completely formulated in the space of actual stresses, is compared with other formulations based on the concept of effective stresses in the case of isotropic damage. It is observed that such models are consistent only for particular choices of the damage coupling. Finally, the predictions of the proposed model for some simple processes are analysed.  相似文献
