In this paper, the mixed-mode penny-shaped crack problem for a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) strip is considered. It is assumed that the electroelastic properties of the strip vary continuously along the thickness of the strip, and that the strip is under in-plane electromechanical loadings. The problem is formulated in terms of a system of singular integral equations. The stress and electric displacement intensity factors are presented for various values of dimensionless parameters representing the crack size, the crack location, and the material nonhomogeneity.  相似文献

The dynamic fracture problem for a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) strip containing a crack parallel to the free boundaries is considered in this study. It is assumed that the electroelastic properties of the strip vary continuously along the thickness direction of the strip, and that the strip is under the in-plane mechanical and electric impact. Integral transform techniques and dislocation density functions are employed to reduce the problem to the solutions of a system of singular integral equations. The dynamic stress and electric displacement intensity factors versus time are presented for various values of dimensionless parameters representing the crack size, the crack location, the material nonhomogeneity and the loading combination.  相似文献

The paper presents a fracture analysis for an electromagnetically dielectric crack in a functionally graded magnetoelectroelastic strip. It is considered that the material properties are varying exponentially along the width direction. Under the assumption of the in-plane magneto-electro-mechanical loadings, the dielectric crack is simulated by using the semi-permeable crack-face boundary conditions. The Fourier transform technique is applied to solve the boundary-value problem and four coupling singular integral equations are determined. A nonlinear system of algebraic equations is further derived and solved numerically to determine the electromagnetic field inside the crack. Then the field intensity factors of stress, electric displacement, and magnetic induction are given. Through the numerical computations, the effects of the material non-homogeneity and the permeability of crack interior on the electric displacement and the magnetic induction at the crack faces are studied. The variations of the intensity factors of stress, electric displacement, and magnetic induction versus the geometry of the crack, the strip width, and the material non-homogeneity are presented in graphics respectively.  相似文献

The electrical nonlinear behavior of an anti-plane shear crack in a functionally graded piezoelectric strip is studied by using the strip saturation model within the framework of linear electroelasticity. The analysis is conducted on the electrically unified crack boundary condition with the introduction of the electric crack condition parameter that can describe all the electric crack boundary condition in accordance with the aspect ratio of an ellipsoidal crack and the permittivity inside the crack, in particular, including traditional permeable and impermeable crack boundary conditions. The resulting mixed boundary value problem is analysed and near tip field is obtained by using the integral transform techniques. Numerical results for the normalized five kinds of energy release rates under the small scale electric saturation condition are presented and compared to show the influences of the electric crack condition parameter with the variation of the ellipsoidal crack parameters, electric loads, functionally graded piezoelectric material gradation, crack length, electromechanical coupling coefficient, and crack location. It reveals that there are considerable differences between the results obtained from the traditional electric crack models and those obtained from the current unified crack model.  相似文献

Summary A finite crack propagating at constant speed in a functionally graded piezoelectric strip (FGPS) bonded to a homogeneous piezoelectric strip is considered. It is assumed that the electroelastic material properties of the FGPS vary exponentially across the thickness of the strip, and that the bimaterial strip is under combined anti-plane mechanical shear and in-plane electrical loads. The analysis is conducted for the electrically unified crack boundary condition, which includes both the traditional permeable and the impermeable ones. By using the Fourier transform, the problem is reduced to the solution of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. Numerical results for the stress intensity factor and the crack sliding displacement are presented to show the influences of the crack propagation speed, electric loads, FGPS gradation, crack length, electromechanical coupling coefficient, properties of the bonded homogeneous piezoelectric strip and crack location.  相似文献

This paper studies the internal crack problem located within one functionally graded piezoelectric strip. One crack is normal to the edge of the strip and the material properties vary along the direction of crack length. Three different boundary conditions and both impermeable and permeable cases are discussed. The problem can be reduced to a system of singular integral equations and solved by using the Gauss–Chebyshev formulas. The results show that the edge boundary conditions and the nonhomogeneous parameter significantly control the magnitudes of stress and electric displacement intensity factors.

A crack with an electric displacement saturation zone in an electrostrictive material under purely electric loading is analyzed. A strip saturation model is here employed to investigate the effect of the electrical polarization saturation on electric fields and elastic fields. A closed form solution of electric fields and elastic fields for the crack with the strip saturation zone is obtained by using the complex function theory. It is found that the K I -dominant region is very small compared to the strip saturation zone. The generalized Dugdale zone model is also employed in order to investigate the effect of the saturation zone shape on the stress intensity factor. Using the body force analogy, the stress intensity factor for the asymptotic problem of a crack with an elliptical saturation zone is evaluated numerically.  相似文献

Anti-plane analysis of semi-infinite crack in piezoelectric strip   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Using the complex variable function method and the technique of the conformal mapping, the fracture problem of a semi-infinite crack in a piezoelectric strip is studied under the anti-plane shear stress and the in-plane electric load. The analytic solutions of the field intensity factors and the mechanical strain energy release rate are presented under the assumption that the surface of the crack is electrically impermeable. When the height of the strip tends to infinity, the analytic solutions of an infinitely large piezoelectric solid with a semi-infinite crack are obtained. Moreover, the present results can be reduced to the well-known solutions for a purely elastic material in the absence of the electric loading. In addition, numerical examples are given to show the influences of the loaded crack length, the height of the strip, and the applied mechanical/electric loads on the mechanical strain energy release rate.  相似文献

Summary  The dynamic problem of an impermeable crack of constant length 2a propagating along a piezoelectric ceramic strip is considered under the action of uniform anti-plane shear stress and uniform electric field. The integral transform technique is employed to reduce the mixed-boundary-value problem to a singular integral equation. For the case of a crack moving in the mid-plane, explicit analytic expressions for the electroelastic field and the field intensity factors are obtained, while for an eccentric crack moving along a piezoelectric strip, numerical results are determined via the Lobatto–Chebyshev collocation method for solving a resulting singular integral equation. The results reveal that the electric-displacement intensity factor is independent of the crack velocity, while other field intensity factors depend on the crack velocity when referred to the moving coordinate system. If the crack velocity vanishes, the present results reduce to those for a stationary crack in a piezoelectric strip. In contrast to the results for a stationary crack, applied stress gives rise to a singular electric field and applied electric field results in a singular stress for a moving crack in a piezoelectric strip. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of a Griffith crack in a piezoelectric material strip subjected to the harmonic anti-plane shear waves is investigated by use of the non-local theory for impermeable crack surface conditions. To overcome the mathematical difficulties, a one-dimensional non-local kernel is used instead of a two-dimensional one for the anti-plane dynamic problem to obtain the stress and the electric displacement near at the crack tip. By means of the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of two pairs of dual integral equations. These equations are solved using the Schmidt method. Contrary to the classical solution, it is found that no stress and electric displacement singularity is present near the crack tip. The non-local dynamic elastic solutions yield a finite hoop stress near the crack tip, thus allowing for a fracture criterion based on the maximum dynamic stress hypothesis. The finite hoop stress at the crack tip depends on the crack length, the thickness of the strip, the circular frequency of incident wave and the lattice parameter.  相似文献

The electroelastic analysis of a cracked piezoelectric composite is made. The piezoelectric composite consists of a piezoelectric ceramic strip sandwiched by two outer elastic dielectrics, and a crack is assumed to be located at the center of the piezoelectric strip and normal to the interfaces. By using an integral transform technique, the problem is reduced to singular integral equations with Cauchy kernel. Numerical solutions are determined via the Lobatto–Chebyshev collocation method. The field intensity factors for a realistic crack are obtained, and the solution of a realistic crack lies between those of an impermeable crack and a permeable crack. The results indicate that electric loading has an apparent influence on crack growth. This effect disappears when crack becomes permeable to electric field. Moreover, stiffer outer dielectrics can hinder crack growth.  相似文献

A cracked piezoelectric material strip under combining mechanical and electrical loads is considered. The crack is vertical to the top and bottom edges of the strip. The edges of the strip are parallel to the x-axis and perpendicular to the z-axis. When a piezoelectric ceramic is poled, it exhibits transversely isotropic behavior. Among many possible poled axis orientations, a particular orientation when the poling direction lies parallel to x-axis is examined in this paper. Both impermeable crack and permeable crack assumptions are considered. Numerical results are included for three kinds of fracture mechanics specimens, namely an edge-cracked strip, a double edge-cracked strip, and a center-cracked strip, subjected to uniform tensions and uniform electric displacement loads simultaneously, at the far ends. In addition, an edge-cracked strip under pure bending and uniform electric displacement loads at the far ends is also investigated in this paper.  相似文献

This paper considers the anti-plane (or mode III) crack problem in a functionally graded material strip. The shear modulus of the strip is considered for a class of functional forms for which the equilibrium equation has an analytical solution. The problem is solved by means of singular integral equation technique. Both a single crack and a series of collinear cracks are studied. The results are tabulated and plotted to show the effect of the material nonhomogeneity and crack location on the stress intensity factors.  相似文献

Considering the material properties to be one-dimensionally dependent, this paper studied an anti-plane problem for an embedded crack and edge crack perpendicular to the boundary of a functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic strip. The crack is assumed to be either magneto-electrically impermeable or permeable. Integral transform and dislocation density functions are employed to reduce the problem to the solution of a system of singular integral equations. Numerical results show the effects of the loading combination parameter, material gradient parameter and crack configuration on the field intensity factors and the energy release rates of the functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic strip.  相似文献

A mathematical model of crack nucleation in a strip of varying thickness under force loading is constructed. It is assumed that the loading of the strip by external forces gives rise to prefracture zones, which are modeled as regions of weakened interparticle bonds in the material. Solution of the problem of the equilibrium of an isotropic strip of varying thickness, with a crack nucleus reduces to solving a system of nonlinear singular integral equations with a Cauchy type kernel to determine the forces in the region of crack nucleation. The condition of crack nucleation in a strip of varying thickness is formulated using the criterion of the limiting stretching of material bonds.  相似文献

Extending the polarization saturation model [Gao et al., 1997. Local and global energy release rates for an electrically yielded crack in a piezoelectric ceramic. J. Mech. Phys. Solids 45, 491-510] and the dielectric breakdown (DB) model [Zhang et al., 2005. The strip dielectric breakdown model. Int. J. Fract. 132, 311-327] in piezoelectric materials, the Strip Electric-Magnetic Breakdown (SEMB) model is proposed for electrically and magnetically impermeable crack in a magnetoelectroelastic medium to study the effect of the nonlinear character of electric field and magnetic field on fracture of magnetoelectroelastic materials. In the SEMB model, the electric field in the strip of the electric breakdown zone ahead of the crack tip is equal to the electric breakdown strength, while the magnetic filed in the strip of the magnetic breakdown zone is equal to the magnetic breakdown strength. By using the extended Stroh formalism and the extended dislocation modeling of a crack, the Griffith crack problem under the electrically and magnetically elastic-plastic condition in a magnetoelectroelastic medium is reduced to a set of dual integral equations. The sizes of the electric breakdown zone and the magnetic breakdown zone, the extended intensity factors and the local J-integral are obtained. The effect of the combined mechanical-electric-magnetic loadings on the local J-integral is studied.  相似文献

Closed-form solution for two collinear cracks in a piezoelectric strip   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Under the permeable electric boundary condition, the problem of two collinear anti-plane shear cracks lying at the mid-plane of a piezoelectric strip is investigated. By using the Fourier transform, the associated problem is reduced to a singular integral equation. Solving the resulting equation analytically, the electro-elastic field intensity factors and energy release rates at the inner and outer crack tips can be determined in explicit form. Numerical results for PZT-5H piezoelectric ceramic are also presented graphically. The results reveal that the effect of electric field on crack growth in piezoelectric materials is dependent on applied elastic displacement.  相似文献

A plane problem for a crack moving with a subsonic speed along the interface of two piezoelectric semi-infinite spaces is considered. The crack is assumed to be free from mechanical loading. The limited permeable electric condition with an account of electric traction is adopted at its faces. A uniformly distributed mixed mode mechanical loading and an electric flux are prescribed at infinity. The problem is reduced to the Riemann–Hilbert problem by means of introducing a moving coordinate system and assuming that the electric flux is uniformly distributed along the crack region. An exact solution of this problem is proposed. It permits to find in closed form all necessary electromechanical characteristics at the interface and to formulate the equation for the determination of the electric flux. Analysis of this equation confirms the correctness of the assumption concerning the uniform distribution of the electric flux in the crack region. The values of the electric flux are determined by solving the obtained equation. Thereafter, the stress and electric intensity factors as well as their asymptotic fields at the crack tip are also found. The particular case of a crack moving in a homogeneous piezoelectric material is considered. The values of the electric flux and the fracture parameters are found exactly in a simple form for this case. Also, a numerical analysis is performed for a crack propagating with a subsonic speed between PZT4 and PZT5 materials and for a crack moving in PZT4 material. The electric flux in the crack region, stress and electric intensity factors, crack opening and the energy release rate (ERR) are found as functions of the crack speed, loading and electric permeability of the crack medium. The influence of the electric traction on the crack faces upon the mentioned parameters is demonstrated.  相似文献
