Magnetoelasticity is applied to solve collinear crack problems for soft ferromagnetic materials in two dimension. Complex functions are used for reducing the problem to the solution of a system of singular integral equations. The energy density factors are derived for determining how an off-axis magnetic field without mechanical load would influence the direction of crack initiation. The critical conditions are also determined for the case when both magnetic and mechanical load are present.  相似文献

Linearized equations and boundary conditions of a magnetoelastic ferromagnetic body are obtained with the nonlinear law of magnetization. Magnetoelastic interactions in a multi-domain ferromagnetic materials are considered for magneto soft materials, i.e. the case when the magnetic field intensity vector and magnetization vector are parallel. As a special case, the following two problems are considered: (1) the magnetoelastic stability of a ferromagnetic plate-strip in a homogeneous transverse magnetic field; (2) the stress–strain state of a ferromagnetic plane with a moving crack in a transverse magnetic field. It is shown that the modeling of magnetoelastic equations with a nonlinear law of magnetization provides qualitative and quantitative predictions on physical quantities including critical loads and stresses. In particular, it is shown that the critical magnetic field in plate stability problems found with the nonlinear law of magnetization is in better agreement with the experimental finding than the one found with a linear law. Furthermore, it is also shown that the stress concentration factor around a crack predicted with the nonlinear law of magnetization is more accurate than the one obtained with a linear counterpart. Numerical results are presented for above mentioned two problems and for various forms of nonlinear laws of magnetization.  相似文献

Transient response of an annular interfacial crack between dissimilar magnetoelectroelastic layers under impacts is investigated. On the crack surface, magnetoelectrically impermeable boundary condition is adopted. Using Laplace and Hankel transform techniques, the mixed boundary value problem is reduced to a system of singular integral equations. The integral equations are further reduced to a system of algebraic equations with the aid of Jacobi polynomials. The dynamic field intensity factor and dynamic energy release rate are determined. Numerical results reveal the effects of electric or magnetic loadings and material parameters of composite on crack propagation and growth.  相似文献

Plane thermoelasticity solutions are presented for the problem of a crack in bonded materials with a graded interfacial zone. The interfacial zone is treated as a nonhomogeneous interlayer having spatially varying thermoelastic moduli between dissimilar, homogeneous half-planes. The crack is assumed to exist in one of the half-planes at an arbitrary angle to the graded interfacial zone, disturbing uniform steady-state heat flows. The Fourier integral transform method is employed in conjunction with the coordinate transformations of field variables in the basic thermoelasticity equations. Formulation of the current nonisothermal crack problem lends itself to the derivation of two sets of Cauchy-type singular integral equations for heat conduction and thermal stress analyses. The heat-flux intensity factors and the thermal-stress intensity factors are defined and evaluated in order to quantify the singular characters of temperature gradients and thermal stresses, respectively, in the near-tip region. Numerical results include the variations of such crack-tip field intensity factors versus the crack orientation angle for various combinations of material and geometric parameters of the dissimilar media bonded through the thermoelastically graded interfacial zone. The dependence of the near-tip thermoelastic singular field on the degree of crack-surface partial insulation is also addressed.  相似文献

Deforming a cracked magnetoelastic body in a magnetic field induces a perturbed magnetic field around the crack. The quantitative relationship between this perturbed field and the stress around the crack is crucial in developing a new generation of magnetism-based nondestructive testing technologies. In this paper, an analytical expression of the perturbed magnetic field induced by structural deforma- tion of an infinite ferromagnetic elastic plate containing a centered crack in a weak external magnetic field is obtained by using the linearized magnetoelastic theory and Fourier transform methods. The main finding is that the perturbed magnetic field intensity is proportional to the applied tensile stress, and is dominated by the displacement gradient on the boundary of the magnetoelastic solid. The tangential component of the perturbed magnetic-field intensity near the crack exhibits an antisymmetric distribution along the crack that reverses its direction sharply across its two faces, while the normal component shows a symmetric distribution along the crack with singular points at the crack tips.  相似文献

Thermomagnetoelectroelastic crack branching of magnetoelectro thermoelastic materials is theoretically investigated based on Stroh formalism and continuous distribution of dislocation approach. The crack face boundary condition is assumed to be fully thermally, electrically and magnetically impermeable. Explicit Green’s functions for the interaction of a crack and a thermomagnetoelectroelastic dislocation (i.e., a thermal dislocation, a mechanical dislocation, an electric dipole and a magnetic dipole located at a same point) are presented. The problem is reduced to two sets of coupled singular integral equations with the thermal dislocation and magnetoelectroelastic dislocation densities along the branched crack line as the unknown variables. As a result, the formulations for the stress, electric displacement and magnetic induction intensity factors and energy release rate at the branched crack tip are expressed in terms of the dislocation density functions and the branch angle. Numerical results are presented to study the effect of applied thermal flux, electric field and magnetic field on the crack propagation path by using the maximum energy release rate criterion.  相似文献

Using the hypersingular integral equation method based on body force method, a planar crack in a three-dimensional transversely isotropic piezoelectric solid under mechanical and electrical loads is analyzed. This crack problem is reduced to solve a set of hypersingular integral equations. Compare with the crack problems in elastic isotropic materials, it is shown that for the impermeable crack, the intensity factors for piezoelectric materials can be obtained from those for elastic isotropic materials. Based on the exact analytical solution of the singular stresses and electrical displacements near the crack front, the numerical method of the hypersingular integral equation is proposed by the finite-part integral method and boundary element method, which the square root models of the displacement and electric potential discontinuities in elements near the crack front are applied. Finally, the numerical solutions of the stress and electric field intensity factors of some examples are given.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior of two parallel symmetry cracks in magneto-electro-elastic composites under harmonic anti-plane shear waves is studied by Schmidt method. By using the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with a pair of dual integral equations in which the unknown variable is the jumps of the displacements across the crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of the displacements across the crack surface were expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. The relations among the electric filed, the magnetic flux and the stress field were obtained. From the results, it can be obtained that the singular stresses in piezoelectric/piezomagnetic materials carry the same forms as those in a general elastic material for the dynamic anti-plane shear fracture problem. The shielding effect of two parallel cracks was also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, a mixed electric boundary value problem for a two-dimensional piezoelectric crack problem is presented, in the sense that the crack face is partly conducting and partly impermeable. By the analytical continuation method, the unknown electric charge distributions on the upper and lower conducting crack faces are reduced to two decoupled singular integral equations and then these two equations are converted into algebraic equations to find the full field solution. Though the results suggest that the stress intensity factors at the crack tip are identical to those of conventional piezoelectric materials, but the electric field and electric displacement are related to the electric boundary conditions on the crack faces. The electric field and electric displacement are singular not only at crack tips but also at the junctures between the impermeable part and conducting parts. Numerical results for the variations of the electric field, electric displacement field and J-integral with respect to the normalized impermeable crack length are shown. Some discussions for the energy release rate and the J-integral are made.  相似文献

A constant moving crack in a magnetoelectroelastic material under in-plane mechanical, electric and magnetic loading is studied for impermeable crack surface boundary conditions. Fourier transform is employed to reduce the mixed boundary value problem of the crack to dual integral equations, which are solved exactly. Steady-state asymptotic fields near the crack tip are obtained in closed form and the corresponding field intensity factors are expressed explicitly. The crack speed influences the singular field distribution around the crack tip and the effects of electric and magnetic loading on the crack tip fields are discussed. The crack kinking phenomena is investigated using the maximum hoop stress intensity factor criterion. The magnitude of the maximum hoop stress intensity factor tends to increase as the crack speed increases.  相似文献

Fracture of a rectangular piezoelectromagnetic body   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
The singular stress, electric fields and magnetic fields in a rectangular piezoelectromagnetic body containing a center Griffith crack under longitudinal shear are obtained. Fourier transforms and Fourier sine series are used to reduce the mixed boundary value problems of the crack, which is assumed to be impermeable, to dual integral equations. The solution of the dual integral equations is then expressed in terms of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. Expressions for stresses, electric displacements and magnetic inductions in the vicinity of the crack tip are derived. Also obtained are the field intensity factors and the energy release rates. Numerical results obtained show that the geometry of the rectangular body have significant influence on the field intensity factors and the energy release rates.  相似文献

The J-integral analysis is presented for the interaction problem between a semi-infinite interface crack and subinterface matrix microcracks in dissimilar anisotropic materials. After deriving the fundamental solutions for an interface crack subjected to different loads and the fundamental solutions for an edge dislocation beneath the interface, the interaction problem is deduced to a system of singular integral equations with the aid of a superimposing technique. The integral equations are then solved numerically and a conservation law among three values of the J-integral is presented, which are induced from the interface crack tip, the microcracks and the remote field, respectively. The conservation law not only provides a necessary condition to confirm the numerical results derived, but also reveals that the microcrack shielding effect in such materials could be considered as a redistribution of the remote J-integral. It is this redistribution that does lead to the phenomenological shielding effect.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the elastic wave scattering induced by a penny-shaped interface crack in coated materials. Using the integral transform, the problem of wave scattering is reduced to a set of singular integral equations in matrix form. The singular integral equations are solved by the asymptotic analysis and contour integral technique, and the expressions for the stress and displacement as well as the dynamic stress intensity factors (SIFs) are obtained. Using numerical analysis, this approach is verified by the finite element method (FEM), and the numerical results agree well with the theoretical results. For various crack sizes and material combinations, the relations between the SIFs and the incident frequency are analyzed, and the amplitudes of the crack opening displacements (CODs) are plotted versus incident wavenumber. The investigation provides a theoretical basis for the dynamic failure analysis and nondestructive evaluation of coated materials.  相似文献

In this paper the dynamic anti-plane problem for a functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic plate containing an internal or an edge crack parallel to the graded direction is investigated. The crack is assumed to be magneto-electrically impermeable. Integral transforms and dislocation density functions are employed to reduce the problem to Cauchy singular integral equations. Field intensity factors and energy release rate are derived, analyzed and partially calculated numerically. The effects of material graded index, loading combination parameter (including size and direction) and geometry criterion of the plate on the dynamic energy release rate are shown graphically. Numerical results indicate that increasing the graded index can all retard the crack extension, and that both the applied magnetic field loadings and electric field loadings play a dominant role in the dynamic fracture behaviors of crack tips.  相似文献

The interaction of a general plane P wave and an elastic cylindrical inclusion of infinite length partially debonded from its surrounding viscoelastic matrix of infinite extension is investigated. The debonded region is modeled as an arc-shaped interface crack between inclusion and matrix with non-contacting faces. With wave functions expansion and singular integral equation technique, the interaction problem is reduced to a set of simultaneous singular integral equations of crack dislocation density function. By analysis of the fundamental solution of the singular integral equation, it is found that dynamic stress field at the crack tip is oscillatory singular, which is related to the frequency of incident wave. The singular integral equations are solved numerically, and the crack open displacement and dynamic stress intensity factor are evaluated for various incident angles and frequencies. In this paper, the interactions of multiple parallel symmetric and permeable finite length cracks in a piezoelectric/piezomagnetic material plane subjected to anti-plane shear stress loading are studied by the Schmidt method. The problem is formulated through Fourier transform into dual integral equations, in which the unknown variables are the displacement jumps across the crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the displacement jumps across the crack surfaces are directly expanded as a series of Jacobi polynomials. Finally, the relation between the electric field, the magnetic flux field and the stress field near the crack tips is obtained. The results show that the stress, the electric displacement and the magnetic flux intensity factors at the crack tips depend on the length and spacing of the cracks. It is also revealed that the crack shielding effect presents in piezoelectric/piezomagnetic materials.  相似文献
