The switching kinetics in ferroelectrics in the bulk polarization switching stage and in the final stage of the process are studied. Consideration is given to the specific case of switching of intrinsic ferroelectrics with 180° domains. A complete system of equations describing the switching processes and taking into account the change in repolarization in the course of a phase transformation is derived. The solution of this system is found. All the main characteristics of the switching process are calculated; namely, the evolution of the domain size distribution function is revealed and the time dependences of the domain density and flux are determined. An expression describing the variation in repolarization with time is obtained. The mechanisms of domain growth are studied. An equation for calculating the switching current and its variation with time is derived. A method is proposed for determining a number of constants for ferroelectric crystals by studying the switching current evolution.  相似文献

Thermodynamics and kinetics of switching of ferroelastic ferroelectrics (FFs) are studied at the initial (weak-metastability) stage. It is shown that in the switching of a uniaxial FF, the role of the electric field and mechanical stress simultaneously applied to the FF is analogous to that of supersaturation or supercooling of solutions and melts in the process of a conventional phase transition. The dependence of the critical size of a domain on the strength of the switching field is derived. In the space of domain sizes, the dependence of the steady flux of repolarized and redeformed nuclei on the applied field is determined and the time required for this steady flux to set in (latent time) and the time during which this flux is steady are estimated.  相似文献

The slow processes involved in establishment of the overall and discontinuous parts of the polarization of a triglycine sulfate crystal are compared on the basis of a joint study of the switching current and the Barkhausen jumps. Over a wide field range (10–103 V/cm) the time required to establish the entire polarization is equal to the time required to establish its irreversible part due to jumps. The time dependences of the overall and discontinuous parts of the polarization are shown to be analogous. There is a threshold field above which the discontinuous repolarization processes play a decreasing role with increasing field.  相似文献

General patterns of the polarization models of Rayleigh, Preisach, and Jiles–Atherton are found. The limiting dependence of the polarization is confirmed. A way of constructing it based on the energy criterion for domain switching for polycrystalline ferroelectrics with perovskite structure is proposed. Differential equations are constructed for determining the irreversible components of polarization and deformation, and large loops of dielectric hysteresis are calculated.  相似文献

The kinetics of switching of multiaxial ferroelectric crystals with 180° and 90° domains under conditions of normal and layer-by-layer domain growth is studied using the multidimensional theory of first-order phase transitions. The main stages of the process of switching of a multiaxial ferroelectric are considered under the assumption that repolarized cylinder-shaped domains grow three-dimensionally. A closed set of equations describing the kinetics of switching is derived with allowance for a change in repolarization in the course of the phase transition. Equations for the time-dependent switching current are derived. The main characteristics of switching are compared qualitatively with the experimental data on barium titanate.  相似文献

The characteristics of polarization switching are studied in metal-dielectric-metal structures as the basis of (Ba, Sr)TiO3 films having a different degree of crystal lattice perfection. The relationships discovered support the conclusions of a phenomenological model of the spreading of the ferroelectric phase transition, according to which microvolumes of the film material are distributed by the magnitude of deformation (the sum of spontaneous deformation and induced defects) and, consequently, by the magnitude of the spontaneous polarization, Curie temperature, coercive field, etc., while the half-width of this distribution is a measure of the average microdefect. 设计了基于电子自旋弛豫的透射式全光开关模犁.该光开关具有开关时间短、结构简单,光学非线性强等特点.研究在右旋圆偏振光抽运下 GaAs/AlGaAs半导体多量子阱(MQWs)中以相空间填充(PSF)和库仑屏蔽(CS)为主要因素导致的激子吸收饱和行为,计算与抽运光同向(探测光与抽运光的圆偏振方向相同)和反向(探测光与抽运光的圆偏振方向相反)的圆偏振探测光吸收系数的变化,得到两种圆偏振光差分透射率改变量随延迟时间的变化.实验采用飞秒抽运-探测技术,获得了室温下GaAs/AlGaAs多量子阱同向圆偏振探测光的透射曲线,观察到了明显的饱和吸收现象,与数值模拟的结果相符.  相似文献

Polarization and repolarization of a (100)-oriented lead magnoniobate crystal in slowly varying and dc electric fields were measured in a temperature interval including the relaxor and field-induced ferroelectric states. Throughout the interval covered, the polarization was shown to exhibit features characteristic of relaxors, namely, open, nonreproducing polarization trajectories in the first few cycles of quasistatic dielectric hysteresis loops and very long relaxation times. The slow thermally activated relaxation stage follows the universal power law evolution, which permits one to determine possible simple spectra of the relaxation time distribution. Temperature dependences of some relaxation and spectral parameters were derived, and their differences in the relaxor and ferroelectric phases are discussed.  相似文献

The classical theory of nucleation and growth is used to study the thermodynamics and kinetics of switching of multiaxial ferroelectrics. The initial stage of 180°-and 90°-domain switching is studied in the tetragonal, orthorhombic, and trigonal phases. The multidimensional kinetic theory of first-order phase transitions is applied to describe the initial stage of switching of ferroelectric crystals in the general case where three-dimensional growth (along the radius and height) of repolarized domains occurs. The energy of nucleus formation is calculated in the vicinity of the saddle point of an activation barrier in the space of sizes and shapes, and the dependence of the critical domain size on the switching field is found. The two-dimensional Fokker-Planck kinetic equation is reduced to a one-dimensional Zel’dovich equation, and a stationary solution to the Zel’dovich equation is obtained. The diffusion coefficients are derived in the size space for the normal and layer-by-layer mechanisms of domain growth. The main characteristic of the initial switching stage, namely, the steadystate flux of repolarized domains, is found as a function of the applied field.

The stability of the ferrofluid (FF) subjected to the electric field is crucial for the application in high voltage (HV) technology. There are several cases where the fluid interacts with solid interfaces. We examined experimentally FF drop on a glass surface. The drop was exposed to the steady electric field. During tests the suspended particles started to aggregate. Changing drop's shape was recorded during a time period. It was observed that the further deformation development depends on aggregates shape and location. The results are compared with the behaviour of pure carrier fluid. Understanding the phenomenon associated with FF drop deformation can help more reliable HV component design.  相似文献

Polarization switching and retention of each of the two polarized states in Langmuir—Blodgett (LB) ferroelectric films are studied using nonlinear dielectric spectroscopy. It is found that polarized states can be preserved for a long time, but the polarization dynamics in 10–40-nm-thick LB films is characterized by a considerable switching-time dispersion. In addition, ferroelectric LB films exhibit clearly manifested asymmetry of switching to states with opposite directions of polarization. To explain the experimental results, a polarization-switching model is proposed that takes into account the energy of interaction of a ferroelectric polymer with boundary surfaces. The effect of inhomogeneity of the LB film structure on the ferroelectric switching dynamics is also discussed.  相似文献

Bistability as well as dynamics associated to polarization switching in a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) submitted to orthogonal optical injection from an external master laser are investigated. Intensity-polarization switching bistability is studied by increasing and decreasing the intensity of the injected beam and for a fixed frequency detuning, i.e. the frequency offset between master and the free running VCSEL. Depending on the frequency detuning, bistable switching is experimentally found to occur with or without injection locking of the fundamental mode to the master laser frequency. For large positive detuning, injection locking of the first-order transverse mode with a strong depression of the fundamental mode has been observed. The case of frequency – polarization switching bistability, i.e. when the frequency detuning is first decreased and then increased for a fixed injected power, has also been theoretically analyzed. Qualitative comparison with previous experimental work is presented for the dependence of the width of the bistable switching region on the injection strength level. Finally we show an experimental result of complicated dynamics including period doubling route to chaos that accompany polarization switching and which motivates future theoretical investigations.  相似文献

Polarization switching in alternating quasi-static electric fields of frequency 10?4 Hz and polarization relaxation in dc fields were studied in a photosensitive La-and Ce-doped barium-strontium niobate relaxor ferroelectric. Experimental data obtained in the thermal activation stage of the relaxation were used to reconstruct the relaxation time distribution spectrum. The characteristics of the polarization kinetics of an illuminated and a dark crystal are compared. It is shown that, in the crystal illuminated by light, the photoconductivity compensates for random electric and depolarization fields, thereby giving rise to a growth in amplitude of the dielectric hysteresis loops in the polarization versus field relation and to longer polarization relaxation times or increased heights of the potential barriers separating stable states from metastable states.  相似文献

The dependences of the degree of polarization of polychromatic radiation on the length of a single-mode optical fiber (SMF) with random inhomogeneities have been obtained by mathematical modeling. The case is considered where radiation having both polarization modes excited with equal weights of linear polarization is first introduced into a depolarizer of polychromatic radiation (a SMF segment with high linear birefringence) and arrives at an SMF with low linear birefringence. It is shown that the degree of polarization of radiation after transmission through the first segment becomes significantly suppressed and remains almost constant upon propagation through the second segment, after which it begins to sharply increase at some length; i.e., repolarization of radiation occurs. It is shown that repolarization of radiation depends weakly on the angle made by the axes of unperturbed linear birefringence of the first and second segments. The conditions for the length of the first segment (depolarizer) under which the degree of polarization remains minimum throughout the second segment are determined.  相似文献

The ferroelectric and switching properties of spray deposited cesium nitrate: poly (vinyl alcohol) composite films at different substrate temperatures (T s ) have been studied. The optimum value of remanent polarization was obtained in the film deposited at T s =200°C, which may be due to larger structural distortion (c/a ratio) and less porosity as revealed by x-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) analysis. The switching current transients have been analyzed by nucleation limited switching model (NLS) with the Lorentzian distribution function. This model gives excellent agreement with the experimental polarization current throughout the whole time range. The switching parameters were determined in the composite films deposited at different T s and found to be optimum at T s =200°C. The effect of pulse amplitude on the domain switching properties has also been studied and analyzed. The peak value of polarization current exhibits an exponential dependence on the external applied field.  相似文献
