In this work photocatalytic properties of TiO2 thin films doped with different amount of Tb have been described. Thin films were prepared by high energy reactive magnetron sputtering process. Comparable photocatalytic activity has been found for all doped TiO2 thin films, while different amounts of Tb dopant (0.4 and 2.6 at. %) results in either an anatase or rutile structure. It was found that the terbium dopant incorporated into TiO2 was also responsible for the amount of hydroxyl groups and water particles adsorbed on the thin film surfaces and thus photocatalytic activity was few times higher in comparison with results collected for undoped TiO2 thin films.  相似文献

In this paper we report on the effect of annealing on the microsctructural and optoelectronic properties of titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films prepared using sol-gel method onto silicon (Si) (100) and quartz substrates. The annealing temperatures range from 200 to 1000 °C. The Microstructural properties of annealed thin films were investigated by Thermal gravimetric analyses (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman Spectroscopy. The surface morphology of the film was examined using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) method. The optical properties of TiO2 thin films were characterized using UV-VIS and Spectroscopic ellipsometry. The results have shown that the TiO2 thin films persist in the anatase phase even after annealing at 800 °C. The phase transformation from anatase to rutile occurred only when the films were annealed at 1000 °C. AFM studies revealed nanocrystalline structure where their shape and density depend strongly on the annealing temperatures. The elaborated nanostructured-TiO2 thin films present a high transparency in the visible range. Spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) study was used to determine the effect of annealing temperature on the thickness and on the optical constant of TiO2 thin films. Spectroscopic ellipsometry and UV-VIS shows that the band gap of TiO2 thin films was found to decrease when the annealing temperature increases. The Anatase phase was find to show higher photocatalytic activity than the rutile one.  相似文献

In this study, two different thin films, TiO2 thin film and TiO2–W–TiO2 multi-layer thin films (W, tungsten), are prepared by RF magnetron sputtering onto glass substrates. The crystal structure, morphology, and transmittance of TiO2 and TiO2–W–TiO2 multi-layer thin films are investigated by X-ray diffraction, SEM, and UV-Vis spectrometer, respectively. The amorphous, rutile, and anatase TiO2 phases are observed in the TiO2 thin film and in the TiO2–W–TiO2 multi-layer thin films. The deposition of tungsten as the inter-layer will have large effect on the transmittance and phase ratios of rutile and anatase phases in the TiO2–W–TiO2 multi-layer thin films. The crystal intensities of amorous TiO2 will decrease as the tungsten is used as the middle layer in the multi-layer structure. The band gap energy values of TiO2 thin film and TiO2–W–TiO2 multi-layer thin films are evaluated from (αhν)1/2 versus energy plots, and the calculated results show that the energy gap decreases from 3.21 eV (TiO2 thin film) to 3.08∼3.03 EV (TiO2–W–TiO2 multi-layer thin films).  相似文献

Ru thin films were grown on polymorphic TiO2 thin film substrates at 230 and 250 °C by atomic layer deposition using 2,4-(dimethylpentadienyl)(ethylcyclopentadienyl)Ru and an O2 gas. While the Ru films grown on amorphous and rutile TiO2 substrates showed a relatively long incubation cycle number of approximately 350 and 100 at 230 and 250 °C, respectively, the Ru films grown on anatase TiO2 substrates exhibited a significantly shorter incubation delay which was attributed to the catalytic activity of anatase TiO2. This difference in the incubation cycle affected the surface morphology of the Ru films on different TiO2 substrates.  相似文献

A series of thin films made with TiO2 nanoparticles with a varied anatase/rutile phase ratio is prepared on conducting glass substrates using a spin-coating method. The structure, morphology, and optical properties of TiO2 nanopowders and thin films fabricated are studied using powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and optical spectroscopy. The TiO2 nanostructured films created are used as photoelectrodes for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The photovoltaic characteristics of PSCs under AM1.5 light illumination (1000 W/m2) under ambient conditions are studied. It is shown that the best efficiency of solar-to-electrical energy conversion, namely, 9.3%, is obtained for the PSC with a photoelectrode based on a TiO2 film with an anatase/rutile mixed phase ratio of 86/14%.  相似文献

Pure TiO2 and nitrogen doped titanium dioxide (N-TiO2) thin films were prepared by sol-gel method through spin coating on soda lime glass substrates. TiCl4 and urea were used as Ti and N sources in the sol. XRD results showed nitrogen doping has retarded anatase to rutile phase transformation. The doping also leads to a decrease in roughness of the samples from 4 nm (TiO2) to 1 nm (N-TiO2). However, surface analysis by statistical methods reveals that both surfaces have self-affine structure. Optical band gap of thin films was shifted from 3.65 eV (TiO2) to 3.47 eV (N-TiO2). Hydrophilic conversion and photocatalytic degradation properties of thin films were investigated and exhibited that N-TiO2 thin film has more preferable hydrophilicity and photocatalytic properties under UV illumination.  相似文献

We investigate the gas sensing properties of TiO2 thin films prepared by spin coating. The presence of anatase and rutile phases in the sample was confirmed by powder X-Ray diffraction study. The thin film was characterized by FE-SEM and EDAX. The TiO2 thin films were found to have good sensitivity towards ethanol compared to other gases. The sensing studies revealed the ethanol sensing properties of the thin film at room temperature even at lower concentrations. The response and selectivity of the film were also discussed in detail.  相似文献

Oxide films obtained during anodization of Ti?40% Al sintered powder samples in fluorine-containing electrolytes are investigated. With scanning electron microscopy and X-ray phase analysis, it is demonstrated that an X-ray amorphous nanoporous anodic oxide film is formed on the surface of the powder microparticles under optimal anodization conditions. After annealing at T = 1093 K in air and vacuum (10?2 Pa), the oxide films are revealed to crystallize with its regular porous structure retained. The composition of the polycrystalline anodic-oxide films annealed in air is a mixture involving TiO2 (anatase and rutile) and α- and γ-Al2O3 phases and Ti2O3 and Al2TiO5 traces. The vacuum annealing process makes it possible to identify TiO2, in which anatase is the main phase, α- and γ-Al2O3, and Ti2O3 and TiO traces. However, rutile is not revealed. The presented results indicate that the application of the anodic nanostructuring of Ti?40% Al powders is promising for the obtainment of new photocatalytic active nanomaterials.  相似文献

Nanostructured sol-gel TiO2 thin films spin coated on silicate glass plates are subjected to excimer (KrF*) pulsed laser irradiation in order to tailor their structure and photocatalytic properties. The surface morphology of virgin and laser-processed films are followed applying electron optical imaging and atomic force microscopy. The evolution of the surface roughness and pore formation are shown to be accompanied by optical absorption edge shift to infrared wavelength range. Conventional X-ray diffraction analysis and high-resolution transmission electron imaging are applied in order to obtain information on the phase composition. Co-existence of amorphous and anatase TiO2 phases in nonirradiated sol-gel films is found. It is established that after laser processing the most intense XRD anatase peak is shifted to lower 2θ range. The analysis of high-resolution transmission electron images of film profiles evidences for the laser induced phase transitions. Formation of rutile and brookite TiO2 accompanied by evolution of oxygen deficient TinO2n−1 phases are identified in the subsurface region. The contribution of laser processing for increasing the photocatalytic efficiency of laser-modified films toward the oxidation of methylene blue water solution is demonstrated. The results obtained reveal a novel-processing route for designing sol-gel titania films with improved photocatalytical activity.  相似文献

Nanostructured TiO2 thin films have been prepared through chemical route using sol-gel and spin coating techniques. The deposited films were annealed in the temperature range 400–1000°C for 1 h. The structure and microstructure of the annealed films were characterized by GAXRD, micro-Raman spectroscopy and AFM. The as-deposited TiO2 thin films are found to be amorphous. Micro-Raman and GAXRD results confirm the presence of the anatase phase and absence of the rutile phase for films annealed up to 700°C. The diffraction pattern of the film annealed at 800 to 1000°C contains peaks of both anatase and rutile reflections. The intensity of all peaks in micro-Raman and GAXRD patterns increased and their width (FWHM) decreased with increasing annealing temperature, demonstrating the improvement in the crystallinity of the annealed films. Phase transformation at higher annealing temperature involves a competition among three events such as: grain growth of anatase phase, conversion of anatase to rutile and grain growth of rutile phase. AFM image of the asdeposited films and annealed films indicated exponential grain growth at higher temperature.   相似文献

The CeO2/TiO2 and TiO2/CeO2 interface composite films were prepared on glass substrates by the sol-gel process via dip-coating and calcining technique. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that the TiO2 layer has a compact and uniformity glasslike surface with 200 nm in thickness, and the CeO2 layer has a coarse surface with 240 nm in thickness. The X-ray diffractometer (XRD) analysis showed that the TiO2 layer is made up of anatase phase, and the CeO2 layer is structured by cubic fluorite phase. Through a series of photo-degradation experiments, the relationship of the photocatalytic activity with the constituents of the films was studied. In virtue of the efficient interfacial charge separation via the process of electron transfer from TiO2 to CeO2, the photocatalytic activity of the CeO2/TiO2 composite film is high. Contrarily, the photocatalytic activity of the TiO2/CeO2 composite film is low, due to its inert surface made up of CeO2 with broad bandwidth. Apart from the effect of the film structure, the effect of film thickness on photocatalytic activity was also discussed.  相似文献

The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films deposited on different substrates by the spray-drying method using suspensions of commercially available TiO2 (Degussa P25 or Tronox) as starting material was studied. The influence of the type of the initial TiO2, preparation conditions (temperature of the substrate during the film deposition, temperature of the post-deposition annealing), substrate material (glass, fused silica, stainless steel and graphite), the presence of additives in the spraying suspension (polyethylene glycol, ethylene glycol and acetylacetone) and its sonication before spraying on the morphology, size of crystallites and phase composition (rutile/anatase ratio) was studied. Optimal conditions for spray deposition of the films are suggested.  相似文献

Transparent Si-doped TiO2 thin films (Si-TiO2) were deposited on quartz glasses using electron beam evaporation (EBE) and annealed at different temperature in an air atmosphere. The structure and morphology of these films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman microscopy (Raman), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Meanwhile the photocatalytic activity of the films has also been evaluated on the basis of the degradation degree of rhodamine B in aqueous solution. Our experimental results suggest that the annealing temperature impact a strong effect on the structure, morphology and photocatalytic activity of Si-TiO2 thin films. Furthermore the enhanced thermal stability of Si-TiO2 films enabled them to elevate the phase transformation temperature of TiO2 from anatase to rutile and enhanced the photocatalytic efficiency.  相似文献

Hydro-oxygenated amorphous titanium oxide (a-TiOx:OH) films were prepared by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) using precursors of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) and oxygen. The influences of chemical states and crystal quality on the photocatalytic activity were systematically investigated in the as-deposited and post-annealed films. The degree of the photocatalytic activity was deeply correlated with the porosity related to the hydroxyl (OH) groups in the as-deposited amorphous film. The crystallized anatase structures was observed from the 200 °C-deposited a-TiOx:OH film after a post-annealing treatment at 400 °C. The photocatalytic activity related to the film with anatase structure was markedly superior to that of an amorphous film with porous structures. The larger the crystal size of the anatase structure, the higher the photocatalytic activity obtained. At elevated annealed temperatures, the inferior anatase structure due to the crystalline transformation led to a low photocatalytic activity. It was concluded that the photocatalytic activity of an amorphous TiOx film prepared using PECVD was determined by the porosity originating from the functional OH groups in the film, whereas the crystalline quality of anatase phase in the annealed poly-TiOx film was crucial to the photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

TiO2 films deposited on unheated substrates of alumina silicate glass by rf. (13.56 MHz) magnetron sputtering in the mixture of O2 and Ar gases have been studied with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and optical spectroscopy. Structural and optical properties of TiO2 films deposited at different O2 concentrations and total pressures have been analyzed. Photocatalytic properties of TiO2 films were characterized by following the degradation of methylene blue molecules under UV irradiation. It was found that the rate of methylene blue decomposition strongly depends on morphology and crystallinity of the deposited films, namely on the content of the anatase phase and on the size of the anatase grains. The best photocatalytic activity was found on TiO2 films consisting of pure anatase phase with the size of grains of about 450 Å. With the help of those films a thin film reactor for water purification has been designed and tested.  相似文献

A novel and simple method for preparing F-doped anatase TiO2 (defined as FTO) film with high photocatalytic activity was developed using titanium-n-butoxide and NH4F as TiO2 and fluorine precursors under mild condition, i.e. low temperature (lower than 373 K) and ambient pressure. The prepared samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), diffuse reflectance spectrum (DRS), photoluminescence spectrum (PL) and TG-DSC analysis. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by decomposing X-3B under artificial solar light. The results showed that the crystallinity of TiO2 was improved by F-doping. F ions can prevent the grain growth, and the transformation of anatase to rutile phase was also inhibited. The doped fluorine atoms existed in two chemical forms, and the ones incorporated into TiO2 lattice might take a positive role in photocatalysis. Compared with surface fluorination samples, FTO film exhibited better photocatalytic activity. The high photocatalytic activity of FTO may due to extrinsic absorption through the creation of oxygen vacancies rather than the excitation of the intrinsic absorption band of bulk TiO2. Furthermore, the FTO can be recycled with little photocatalytic activity depression. Without any further treatment besides rinsing, after 6 recycle utilization, the photocatalytic activity of FTO film was still higher than 79%.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide thin films were deposited on three different unheated substrates by unbalanced magnetron sputtering. The effects of the sputtering current and deposition time on the crystallization of TiO2 thin films were studied. The TiO2 thin films were deposited at three sputtering current values of 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00 A with different deposition times of 25, 35, and 45 min, respectively. The surface morphology of the films was investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The structure was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The film thickness was determined by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and the optical property was evaluated with spectroscopic ellipsometry. The results show that polycrystalline anatase films were obtained at a low sputtering current value. The crystallinity of the anatase phase increases as the sputtering current increases. Furthermore, nanostructured anatase phase TiO2 thin films were obtained for all deposition conditions. The grain size of TiO2 thin films was in the range 10–30 nm. In addition, the grain size increases as the sputtering current and deposition time increase.  相似文献

TiO2 and TiO2/ZnO double layer films were sputtered on glass substrates. It was found that a thin ZnO underlayer is helpful for tailoring the microstructure and surface morphology of the TiO2 film. By applying a 70-nm-thick ZnO underlayer, a TiO2 thin film of 100 nm in thickness with well crystallized anatase phase and rough surface was successfully fabricated without heating the substrate. Relatively high photo-catalytic activity and good hydrophilic properties were observed in such TiO2/ZnO double layer films.  相似文献

TiO2 thin films are obtained by dc reactive magnetron sputtering. A target of titanium (99.995%) and a mixture of argon and oxygen gases are used to deposit TiO2 films on to silicon wafers (100). The crystalline structure of deposited and annealed film are deduced by variable-angle spectroscopic ellipsometry (VASE) and supported by x-ray diffractometry. The optical properties of the films are examined by VASE. Measurements of ellipsometry are performed in the spectral range O. 72-3.55 e V at incident angle 75^o. Several SE models, categorized by physical and optical models, are proposed based on the 'simpler better' rule and curve-fits, which are generated and compared to the experimental data using the regression analysis. It has been found that the triple-layer physical model together with the Cody-Lorentz dispersion model offer the most convincing result. The as-deposited films are found to be inhomogeneous and amorphous, whereas the annealed films present the phase transition to anatase and rutile structures. The refractive index of TiO2 thin films increases with annealing temperature. A more detailed analysis further reveals that thickness of the top sub-layer increases, whereas the region of the bottom amorphous sub-layer shrinks when the films are annealed at 300℃.  相似文献
