We have investigated single crystal Ir(111) films grown heteroepitaxially on Si(111) wafers with yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) buffer layers as possible substrates for an up-scalable synthesis of graphene. Graphene was grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of ethylene. As surface analytical techniques we have used scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), low-energy electron diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The mosaic spread of the metal films was below 0.2° similar to or even below that of standard Ir bulk single crystals, and the films were basically twin-free. The film surfaces could be improved by annealing so that they attained the perfection of bulk single crystals. Depending on the CVD conditions a lattice-aligned graphene layer or a film consisting of different rotational domains were obtained. STM data of the non-rotated phase and of the phases rotated by 14° and 19° were acquired. The quality of the graphene was comparable to graphene grown on bulk Ir(111) single crystals.  相似文献

Novel material PtSe2–graphene/TiO2 nanocomposites were successfully synthesized through a facile ultrasonic assisted method. The prepared composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with an energy dispersive X-ray (EDX),transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopic analysis, UV–vis absorbance spectra and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) analysis were obtained. The catalytic behavior was investigated through the decomposition of rhodamine B (Rh.B) as a standard dye. Enhanced photocatalytic activities were observed by increasing the weight% of graphene in the PtSe2–graphene/TiO2 nanocomposites. We observed that the coupling of TiO2 with PtSe2–graphene alter the optical properties by observing a precise band gap in the visible range.  相似文献

We report on the formation of a graphene monolayer on a Ru(0001) surface by annealing the Ru(0001) crystal. The samples are characterized by scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). STM images show that the Moir\'{e} pattern is caused by the graphene layer mismatched with the underlying Ru(0001) surface and has an $N\times N$ superlattice. It is further found that the graphene monolayer on a Ru(0001) surface is very stable at high temperatures. Our results provide a simple and convenient method to produce a graphene monolayer on the Ru(0001) surface, which is used as a template for fabricating functional nanostructures needed in future nano devices and catalysis.  相似文献

In order to realize a wider application for graphene materials specifically in the field of energy storage, a simple and mass-scalable method described as “the atmospheric, low-temperature, shock-heating process” is proposed in this work. During this low-temperature process, the graphite oxide without pre-treatment is completely exfoliated to form the few-layer graphene materials at atmospheric conditions. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET)-specific surface area of acquired material at 350 °C can reach 487 m2 g?1. The acquired few-layer graphene materials are also confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The results demonstrate that this simple method is feasible for synthesizing the few-layer graphene materials. Besides that, the acquired graphene is also used as the cathode material in the surface-enabled lithium ion-exchanging cell. The galvanostatic charge/discharge tests show that the graphene prepared from this method is suitable for this system and displays a satisfactory electrochemical performance. The acquired graphene sample exhibits the reversible capacities of around 187, 107, 84, 58, and 45 mAh g?1 at 0.1, 2, 5, 10, and 15 A g?1, respectively. At the current density of 0.5 A g?1, the capacity retention can reach 75 % after 2000 cycles.  相似文献

In this paper, we proposed a novel and green approach for the synthesis of graphene nanosheets (GNS) and Pt nanoparticles-graphene nanosheets (Pt/GNS) hybrid materials, employing graphene oxide (GO) as precursor and sodium citrate as environmentally friendly reducing and stabilizing agent. The microstructures of GO and Pt/GNS were characterized by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electrochemical measurements. The results confirmed that the uniform size distribution of Pt nanoparticles on the surface of GNS without agglomerates could be easily obtained via using sodium citrate as reductant, moreover the Pt/GNS hybrids exhibited high electrochemical activity.  相似文献

A green, convenient, and inexpensive approach to producing graphene field emitters has been developed. Graphite oxide (GO) produced by hummer method was reduced to graphene in a microwave synthesis system. The vacuum filtration method made it possible to form pure and uniform graphene thin films without any additives and it's easy to transfer to other substrates. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis) measurements proved that the graphene prepared by microwave has nearly the same reduction level as that prepared by hydrazine. The results of field emission testing demonstrated that graphene films reduced by microwave are more suitable as field emitters than those reduced by hydrazine, which pave a way to mass-produce low-cost graphene emitter for field emission applications.  相似文献

We investigate cesium (Cs) adsorption on graphene formed on a 6H-SiC(0001) substrate by a combined scanning tunneling microscopy and density functional theory study. Individual Cs atoms adsorb preferentially at the rim region of the well-defined 6×6 substrate superstructure and on multilayer graphene. By finely controlling the graphene thickness and Cs coverages (1/3 ML and 1?ML), we here demonstrate two intriguing and well-ordered Cs superlattices on bilayer and multilayer graphene (<6 layers). Statistical analysis of the Cs-Cs interatomic distance reveals a hitherto unobserved Cs-Cs long-range electrostatic potential caused by charge transfer from Cs to graphene, which couples with the inhomogeneous substrate potential to stabilize the observed Cs superlattices. The present study provides a new avenue to fabricate atomic and molecular superlattices for applications in high-density recording and data storage.  相似文献

In this paper, a composite of reduced graphene oxide decorated by Co3O4 hollow spheres (Co3O4/RGO composite) has been synthesized by a one-pot solvothermal method. The samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Raman spectra and so on. The results demonstrate that the Co3O4 hollow spheres with good purity and homogenous size are absorbed onto the reduced graphene oxide sheets as spacers to prevent the aggregation of the graphene oxide sheets. Furthermore, the well electrochemical properties demonstrate that the Co3O4/RGO composite might have potential applications as electrode materials for supercapacitors.  相似文献

We report an approach to the rapid, one-step, preparation of a variety of wide-bandgap silicon carbide/graphene nanosheet(Si C/GNSs) composites by using a high-density helicon wave plasma(HWP) source. The microstructure and morphology of the Si C/GNSs are characterized by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Raman spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction(XRD), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and fluorescence(PL). The nucleation mechanism and the growth model are discussed. The existence of Si C and graphene structure are confirmed by XRD and Raman spectra. The electron excitation temperature is calculated by the intensity ratio method of optical emission spectroscopy. The main peak in the PL test is observed at 420 nm, with a corresponding bandgap of 2.95 e V that indicates the potential for broad application in blue light emission and ultraviolet light emission, field electron emission, and display devices.  相似文献

LiFePO4/graphene composites have been prepared by using tailoring graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets as precursors. The structure and electrochemical properties of the composites were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman microscopy, and a variety of electrochemical testing techniques. The decrease in graphene size reduces the contact resistance between activated materials, and enhances the lithium-ion transport in LiFePO4/graphene composites. With low weight fractions of small-size graphene sheets, the composites show better electrochemical performance than those with large size graphene sheets.  相似文献

Sublimated graphene grown on SiC is an attractive material for scientific investigations. Nevertheless the self limiting process on the Si face and its sensitivity to the surface quality of the SiC substrates may be unfavourable for later microelectronic processes. On the other hand, chemical vapor deposited (CVD) graphene does not posses such disadvantages, so further experimental investigation is needed. In this paper CVD grown graphene on 6H-SiC (0 0 0 1) substrate was investigated using scanning probe microscopy (SPM). Electrical properties of graphene were characterized with the use of: scanning tunnelling microscopy, conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM) with locally performed C-AFM current–voltage measurements and Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM). Based on the contact potential difference data from the KPFM measurements, the work function of graphene was estimated. We observed conductance variations not only on structural edges, existing surface corrugations or accidental bilayers, but also on a flat graphene surface.  相似文献

Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) was scribed by pulsed laser beam to produce square patterns. Patterning of HOPG surface facilitates the detachment of graphene layers during contact printing. Direct HOPG-to-substrate and glue-assisted stamp printing of a few-layers graphene was compared. Printed graphene sheets were visualized by optical and scanning electron microscopy. The number of graphene layers was measured by atomic force microscopy. Glue-assisted stamp printing allows printing relatively large graphene sheets (40×40 μm) onto a silicon wafer. The presented method is easier to implement and is more flexible than the majority of existing ways of placing graphene sheets onto a substrate.  相似文献

Silver metal nanoparticles were decorated by electron beam evaporation on graphene foam (GF) grown by chemical vapour deposition. X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy were used to investigate the structure and morphology of the graphene foam/silver nanoparticles (GF/Ag). Both samples were tested as electrodes for supercapacitors. The GF/Ag exhibited a significantly higher capacitive performance, including a specific capacitance value of (~110 Fg−1) and excellent cyclability in a three-electrode electrochemical cell. These results demonstrate that graphene foam could be an excellent platform for metal particles for investigating improved electrochemical performance.  相似文献

We report on the synthesis and characterization of electrospun polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/graphene nanofibers. The samples produced were characterized by Raman spectroscopy for structural and defect density analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for morphological analysis, and thermogravimetric (TGA) for thermal analysis. SEM measurements show uniform hollow PVA fibers formation and excellent graphene dispersion within the fibers, while TGA measurements show the improved thermal stability of PVA in the presence of graphene. The synthesized polymer reinforced nanofibers have potential to serve in many different applications such as thermal management, supercapacitor electrodes and biomedical materials for drug delivery.  相似文献

We have investigated transport characteristics of epitaxial graphene grown on semi-insulating silicon-face 4H-silicon carbide (SiC) substrate by thermal decomposition method in relatively high N2 pressure atmosphere. We have succeeded in forming 1–2 layers of graphene on SiC in controlled manner. The surface morphology of formed graphene was analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM), low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) and low-energy electron microscope (LEEM). We have confirmed single-layer graphene growth in average by this method. Top-gated, single-layer graphene field-effect transistors (FETs) were fabricated on epitaxial graphene grown on 4H-SiC. Increased on/off ratio of nearly 100 at low temperature and extremely small minimum conductance (0.018–0.3 in 4 e2/h) in gated Hall-bar samples suggest possible band-gap opening of single-layer epitaxial graphene grown on Si-face SiC.  相似文献

We observe that silver atoms deposited by thermal evaporation deposition onto n-layer graphene films condense upon annealing to form nanoparticles with an average diameter and density that is determined by the layer numbers of graphene films. The optical microscopy and Raman spectroscopy were utilized to identify the number of the graphene layers and the SEM (scanning electron microscopy) was used to observe the morphologies of the particles. Systematic analysis revealed that the average sizes of the nanoparticles increased with the number of graphene layers. The density of nanoparticles decreased as the number of graphene layers increased, revealing a large variation in the surface diffusion strength of nanoparticles on the different substrates. The mechanisms of formation of these layer-dependent morphologies of silver nanoparticles are related to the surface free energy and surface diffusion of the n-layer graphenes.  相似文献

Extremely thin sheets of carbon atoms called graphene have been predicted to possess excellent thermal properties, electrical conductivity, and mechanical stiffness. To harness such properties in composite materials for multifunctional applications, one would require the incorporation of graphene. In this study, new thin film composites were created using layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly of polymer-coated graphitic nanoplatelets. The positive and negative polyelectrolytes used to cover graphene sheets were poly allylamine hydrochloride (PAH) and poly sodium 4-styrenesulfonate (PSS). The synthesized poly allylamine hydrochloride-graphene (PAH-G) and poly sodium 4-styrenesulfonate-gaphene (PSS-G) were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). The multilayer films created by spontaneous sequential adsorption of PAH-G and PSS-G were characterized by ultra violet spectroscopy (UV-vis), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and AFM. The electrical conductivity of the graphene/polyelectrolyte multilayer film composites measured by the four-point probe method was 0.2 S cm−1, which was sufficient for the construction of advanced electro-optical devices and sensors.  相似文献

Herein, we demonstrate a facile one-step hydrothermal synthesis route to anchor ZnO nanoparticles on nitrogen and sulfur co-doped graphene sheets. The detailed material and electrochemical characterization have been carried out to demonstrate the potential of novel ZnO/NSG nanocomposite in Li-ion battery (LIBs) applications. The structure and morphology of nanocomposite were assessed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The as-synthesized ZnO/NSG nanocomposite has been studied as anode material in LIBs and delivered a high initial discharge capacity of 1723 mAh g?1, at the current density of 200 mA g?1. After 100 cycles, the ZnO/NSG nanocomposites demonstrated a high reversible capacity of 720 mAh g?1 and coulombic efficiency of 99.8%, which can be attributed to the porous three-dimensional network, constructed by ZnO nanoparticles and nitrogen and sulfur co-doped graphene. Moreover, the designed nanocomposite has shown excellent rate capability and lower charge transfer resistance. These results are promising and encourage further research in the area of ZnO-based anodes for next-generation LIBs.  相似文献

The conditions of the formation of different carbon surface phases on nickel substrates by the example of a planar Ni( 110) surface and a stepped Ni(771 ) surface similar in structure were determined. The structure of the phases was investigated by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), and the influence of carbon on the structure of the nickel surface was demonstrated. The process of graphene synthesis by propylene cracking is described. A method for forming graphene islands on nickel is proposed. A variety of phase transitions between the carbon surface phases (e.g., surface carbide, graphene, and graphene islands) and the reasons for their irreversibility are discussed. The relation between the structures of the surface carbide phases and the crystal structures of the initial surfaces for two different substrates is shown.  相似文献

A novel approach was developed to prepare hollow polypyrrole (PPy) nanospheres and nitrogen-doped graphene/hollow PPy nanospheres (NG/H-PPy) composites. In this process, uniform poly (methyl methacrylate-butyl methacrylate-methacrylic acid) (PMMA-PBMA-PMAA) latex microspheres as sacrificial templates were synthesized by using an emulsion polymerization method. Then, hollow PPy nanospheres were obtained on the surface of PMMA-PBMA-PMAA microspheres by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization. Finally, H-PPy was embedded in NG layers successfully through a simple approach. The nanobeads have been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectra, and Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR). Different electrochemical methods including cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) have been applied to study the electrochemical properties. The specific capacitance of NG/H-PPy composites based on the three-electrode system is as high as 575 F g?1 at a current density of 1 A g?1 and enhanced stability about 90.1 % after 500 cycles, indicating that the composite has an impressive capacitance and excellent cycling performance.  相似文献
