Orbital populations of the minority-spin Fe(2+) electron in NdBaFe(2)O(5) are extracted from electric and magnetic hyperfine parameters of (57)Fe M?ssbauer spectra across the temperature interval where charge ordering of the valence state 2.5?+ of iron occurs. The previously used approach that assigns the minority-spin population to a single lowest-energy d orbital is expanded to three orbitals by setting up a system of equations in terms of the Fe(2+)/Fe(3+) balance from isomer shift, a point-charge model for the valence and ligand contributions to the electric-field gradient, a point-dipole model for the dipolar contribution and an iterative scheme for small orbital contributions to the internal magnetic field. This allows us to model the hyperfine fields (electric and magnetic) in the intermediate temperature range of partial charge ordering between T(V )?≈?210?K and T(p)?≈?285?K, for which the one-orbital model was insufficient.  相似文献

We report on the specific heat, magnetization and ac susceptibility measurements of single crystals of hybrid frustrated magnets Gd(1.8)Tb(0.2)Ti(2)O(7) and Gd(1.5)Tb(0.5)Ti(2)O(7). The analysis of experimental data revealed that, although partial replacing of the Gd(3+) ions by the Tb(3+) ions in the Gd(2)Ti(2)O(7) host lattice slightly enhances antiferromagnetic coupling, as inferred from the evolution of the paramagnetic Curie-Weiss temperature, the ordering temperature gradually decreases. Paramagnetic correlations introduced by the Tb(3+) ions cause this perturbation, altering the effective further neighbor interactions and destabilizing the ground state in Gd(2)Ti(2)O(7). In addition, the low-energy states of Gd(2-x)Tb(x)Ti(2)O(7) are suggested to possess a nature different from those in parent members Tb(2)Ti(2)O(7) and Gd(2)Ti(2)O(7). Finally, the frequency-dependent magnetic susceptibility behavior in Gd(1.5)Tb(0.5)Ti(2)O(7) is consistent with the formation of a spin-glass-like state indicating a pronounced slowing down of the dynamical response of the studied hybrid magnets.  相似文献

Co and Na NMR are used to probe the local susceptibility and charge state of the two Co sites of the Na-ordered orthorhombic Na(0.5)CoO(2). Above T(N) = 86 K, both sites display a similar T dependence of the spin shift, suggesting that there is no charge segregation into Co(3+) and Co(4+) sites. Below T(N), the magnetic long range commensurate order found is only slightly affected by the metal-insulator transition at T(MIT) = 51 K. Furthermore, the electric field gradient at the Co site does not change at these transitions, indicating the absence of charge ordering. All these observations can be explained by successive spin-density wave induced by two nestings of the Fermi surface specific to the x = 0.5 Na ordering.  相似文献

We present inelastic neutron scattering and thermodynamic measurements characterizing the magnetic excitations in a disordered spin-liquid antiferromagnet with non-magnetic substitution. The parent compound Ba(3)Mn(2)O(8) is a dimerized, quasi-two-dimensional geometrically frustrated quantum disordered antiferromagnet. We substitute this compound with non-magnetic V(5+) for the S=1 Mn(5+) ions, Ba(3)(Mn(1-x)V (x))(2)O(8), and find that the singlet-triplet excitations which dominate the spectrum of the parent compound persist for the full range of substitution examined, up to x=0.3. We also observe additional low-energy magnetic fluctuations which are enhanced at the greatest substitution values.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the electric, magnetic, structural, and thermal properties of spinel CoV(2)O(4). The temperature dependence of magnetization shows that, in addition to the paramagnetic-to-ferrimagnetic transition at T(C) = 142 K, two magnetic anomalies exist at 100 K, T(1) = 59 K. Consistent with the anomalies, the thermal conductivity presents two valleys at 100 K and T(1). At the temperature T(1), the heat capacity shows one peak, which cannot be attributed to the structural transition as revealed by the x-ray diffraction patterns for CoV(2)O(4). Below the transition temperature T(1), the ac susceptibility displays the characteristics of a glass. The series of phenomena at T(1) and the orbital state on V(3+) sites are discussed.  相似文献

La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 (LSCO) films have been grown on Si (100) by a metalorganic chemical liquid deposition (MOCLD) technique using lanthanum acetate, strontium acetate and cobalt acetate as the starting materials. Subsequent PbZr0.5Ti0.5O3 (PZT) films were deposited onto LSCO films by a modified sol-gel method. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis show that PZT and LSCO films are polycrystalline and entirely perovskite phase. At an applied electric field of 250 kV/cm, the Pt/PZT/LSCO capacitor shows no polarization fatigue after 3×109 switching cycles and an internal electric field; the remnant polarization Pr and the coercive field Ec are about 22 μC/cm2 and 73 kV/cm, respectively. The characteristics of a vacuum arc between CuCr contacts under an axial magnetic field have been investigated. Test samples were made of CuCr contacts, and the arcing voltage was measured. The arcing voltage of the CuCr contacts under an axial magnetic field is lower than that of pure copper contacts by 10-20 V. From the measurement of the post-arc current and interruption test results, it was found that the arc concentrates and a part of the electrode melts at a rather low current, but that the electrode melting does not affect the interrupting capability. Also, the insulation characteristics were measured. With respect to voltage conditioning, high-current conditioning improved the breakdown voltage by 50 percent for a 20-mm gap and by 100 percent for a 3-mm gap. These test results show that CuCr contacts, used with axial magnetic fields, are promising for use in high-voltage and high-power vacuum interrupters.  相似文献

X射线光电子能谱表明Mn离子为+3和+4的混合原子价态,Fe离子为+3价. 样品在大于230K的高温区域呈现Curie顺磁特性,在小于230 K的低温区域样品表现出自旋玻璃态行为,这种特性源于Mn离子和Fe离子之间的交换作用及自身价态和分布的不均匀性. 由于Fe3+离子占据O八面体的中心,对顺磁区的Mssbauer谱测量表现为四级分裂. 关键词: 晶体结构 价态 顺磁 自旋玻璃态  相似文献

Ferromagnetic half metallicity with a high spin polarization of 100% was predicted in the bulk Ni0.5Cu0.5O using density-functional theory method. The band gap of majority spin is 3.45 eV for Ni0.5Cu0.5O. The density of states of minority spin at the Fermi level are mainly from Cu 3d and O 2p in the Ni0.5Cu0.5O. The magnetic moments are from Ni 3d states. Ni0.5Zn0.5O and Ni0.5Cd0.5O systems are ferromagnetic insulators, but the magnetic moment of Ni2+ ions is enhanced by the Zn and Cd incorporation. Therefore, Ni0.5Cu0.5O is the potential candidate for spintronics devices because of the predicted high spin polarization.  相似文献

The magnetic properties and crystal structure of the Pr0.5Sr0.5Co0.5Fe0.5O3 compound are studied by neutron and x-ray diffractions using synchrotron radiation. These measurements show that this compound is a dielectric spin glass with a magnetic moment freezing temperature of about 70 K. As temperature decreases in the range 30–95 K, a structure phase transition of the first order occurs with an increase in the symmetry from orthorhombic (space group Imma) to tetragonal (space group I4/mcm). It is assumed that the transition is caused by a change in the 4f electron configuration of the Pr3+ ions.  相似文献

The structure and the magnetic properties of the doped rare earth cobaltite systems are of recent interest owing to the CMR phenomenon that occur in them. In this paper, we investigate the structure and magnetic properties of Tb0.5Sr0.5CoO3 solid solution, for the first time, using neutron powder diffraction technique. The sample Tb0.5Sr0.5CoO3 is found to crystallize in orthorhombic (Pbnm) symmetry. The unit cell volume and Co—O bond length reduce with temperature. The calculatede g bandwidth obtained from structural parameters turns out to be 0.989 eV. Low temperature neutron diffraction profiles exhibit a magnetic contribution to the fundamental Bragg peaks indicating a ferromagnetic ordering belowT c. The results are compared with Co—O—Co bond angles and Co—O bond length of La0.5Sr0.5CoO3, highlighting the ionic size effects on substitution of Tb ion for La in the compound.  相似文献

The energy structure and temperature evolution of the magnetic excitation spectra of Pr0.5Sr0.5CoO3 are studied by inelastic neutron scattering. The measurements are performed on a polycrystalline sample of Pr0.5Sr0.5CoO3 and its non-magnetic analogue La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 on the high intensity time-of-flight spectrometer IN4 (ILL, Grenoble) in the temperature range 10 K < T < 300 K. The crystal electric field parameters in Pr0.5Sr0.5CoO3 are calculated and the splitting scheme of the 4f ground multiplet of Pr3+ ions is determined based on the experimental data.  相似文献

Ferrous antimonite, FeSb(2)O(4), which is isostructural with Pb(3)O(4), and some lead-?and cobalt-doped variants of composition FeSb(1.5)Pb(0.5)O(4) and Co(0.5)Fe(0.5)Sb(1.5)Pb(0.5)O(4) have been examined by (57)Fe and (121)Sb?M?ssbauer spectroscopy. Antimony is present as Sb(3+). The presence of Pb(2+) on the antimony site induces partial oxidation of Fe(2+) to Fe(3+). There is no Verwey-type transition in which electrons are shared between iron in different oxidation states. The quasi-one-dimensional magnetic structure gives rise to situations in which weakly coupled Fe(2+) ions can coexist in a non-magnetic state alongside Fe(3+) ions in a magnetically ordered state.  相似文献

We report low-temperature, high-field magnetotransport measurements of SrTiO(3) gated by an ionic gel electrolyte. A saturating resistance upturn and negative magnetoresistance that signal the emergence of the Kondo effect appear for higher applied gate voltages. This observation, enabled by the wide tunability of the ionic gel-applied electric field, promotes the interpretation of the electric field-effect-induced 2D electron system in SrTiO(3) as an admixture of magnetic Ti(3+) ions, i.e., localized and unpaired electrons, and delocalized electrons that partially fill the Ti 3d conduction band.  相似文献
