We study the evolution of the driven harmonic oscillator in the probability representation of quantum mechanics. We use the photon-number tomographic-probability-distribution function to describe the quantum states of the system. We give a general review of the photon-number tomographic framework, including a discussion on the connection with other representations of quantum mechanics. We find tomograms of coherent states as well as excited states of the harmonic oscillator in an explicit form. We discuss the time evolution of the photon-number tomograms and transforms of the propagators for different representations of quantum mechanics. We obtain the propagator for the photon-number tomographic-distribution function for the case of the driven oscillator in an explicit form.  相似文献

We consider the problem of the driven harmonic oscillator in the probability representation of quantum mechanics, where the oscillator states are described by fair nonnegative probability distributions of position measured in rotated and squeezed reference frames in the system??s phase space. For some specific oscillator states like coherent states and nth excited states, the tomographic-probability distributions (called the state tomograms) are found in an explicit form. The evolution equation for the tomograms is discussed for the classical and quantum driven oscillators, and the tomographic propagator for this equation is studied.  相似文献

The probability representation of quantum mechanics including propagators and tomograms of quantum states of the universe and its application to quantum gravity and cosmology are reviewed. The minisuperspaces modeled by oscillator, free pointlike particle and repulsive oscillator are considered. The notion of tomographic entropy and its properties are used to find some inequalities for the tomographic probability determining the quantum state of the universe. The sense of the inequality as a lower bound for the entropy is clarified.  相似文献

We propose an efficient scheme to generate a macroscopical quantum superposition state with a cavity optomechanical system, which is composed of a quantum Rabi-Stark model coupling to a mechanical oscillator. In a low-energy subspace of the Rabi-Stark model, the dressed states and then the effective Hamiltonian of the system are given. Due to the coupling of the mechanical oscillator and the atom-cavity system, if the initial state of the atom-cavity system is one of the dressed states, the mechanical oscillator will evolve into a corresponding coherent state. Thus, if the initial state of the atom-cavity system is a superposition of two dressed states, a coherent state superposition of the mechanical oscillator can be generated. The quantum coherence and their distinguishable properties of the two coherent states are exhibited by Wigner distribution. We show that the Stark term can enhance significantly the feasibility and quantum coherence of the generated macroscopic quantum superposition state of the oscillator.  相似文献

We present a simple quantum circuit that allows for the universal and deterministic manipulation of the quantum state of confined harmonic oscillators. The scheme is based on the selective interactions of the referred oscillator with an auxiliary three-level system and a classical external driving source, and enables any unitary operations on Fock states, two by two. One circuit is equivalent to a single qubit unitary logical gate on Fock states qubits. Sequences of similar protocols allow for complete, deterministic, and state-independent manipulation of the harmonic oscillator quantum state.  相似文献

We argue that it may be possible to consistently explain the quantum measurement by assuming that the wave function is in one-to-one correspondence with objective physical reality and has no probabilistic interpretation. In the context of such approach we consider the model of a harmonic oscillator linearly coupled to a heat bath and treat the oscillator as the system being measured. Three classes of initial pure states for the bath are considered. Exact expressions for the average values and variances of the oscillator coordinate and momentum as functions of time are considered for each class of pure states. It is shown that these quantities exhibit different asymptotic behavior for different classes of initial states of the bath. In particular, if each mode of the bath is initially in a coherent state, then for an arbitrary initial state of the oscillator the variances of the oscillator coordinate and momentum asymptotically approach the same values as for a coherent state of the free oscillator, while the averages of coordinate and momentum show a Brownian-like behavior. We argue that such behavior shows several features of the quantum measurement and supports our interpretation of the wave function.  相似文献

We discuss the coupling of a quantum system through the angular momentum to the reservoir of quantum harmonic oscillators. In classical mechanics an observation of the oscillator trajectories allows one to determine the system's angular momentum. We discuss the quantum dynamics of the model. We show that the model of an observation of environmental coordinates can be related to some models of angular momentum measurement based on a stochastic Schrödinger equation.  相似文献

The tomographic map of the quantum state of a system with several degrees of freedom, which depends on one random variable, analogous to the rotated and scaled center-of-mass of the system, is constructed. The time-evolution equation of the tomogram for this map is given in the explicit form. The properties of the map such as the transition probabilities between different states and relation to the star-product formalism are elucidated. An example of a multimode oscillator is considered in detail. Identical particles are discussed within the framework of the proposed tomography scheme.  相似文献

The classical Duffing oscillator is a dissipative chaotic system, and so there is not a definite Hamiltonian. We quantize the Duffing oscillator on the basis of quantum state diffusion (QSD) which is a formulation for open quantum systems and a useful tool for analyzing nonlinear problems and classical limits. We can define a ‘Lyapunov exponent’, which corresponds to the classical one in the proper limit, and investigate the behavior of the system by varying the Planck constant effectively. We show that there exists a critical stage, where the behavior of the system crosses over from classical to quantum one.  相似文献

Steering a quantum harmonic oscillator state along cyclic trajectories leads to a path-dependent geometric phase. Here we describe its experimental observation in an electronic harmonic oscillator. We use a superconducting qubit as a nonlinear probe of the phase, which is otherwise unobservable due to the linearity of the oscillator. We show that the geometric phase is, for a variety of cyclic paths, proportional to the area enclosed in the quadrature plane. At the transition to the nonadiabatic regime, we study corrections to the phase and dephasing of the qubit caused by qubit-resonator entanglement. In particular, we identify parameters for which this dephasing mechanism is negligible even in the nonadiabatic regime. The demonstrated controllability makes our system a versatile tool to study geometric phases in open quantum systems and to investigate their potential for quantum information processing.  相似文献

To investigate the role of initial quantum coherence in work-probability distribution, it is necessary to consider an incomplete or partial measurement, in which the energy cannot be fully discriminated by the detector. In this paper, we use a harmonic oscillator with a coherent or squeezing state to realize this incomplete or partial measurement, and propose a unified framework of quantum work statistics for a closed system with an arbitrary initial state. We find that work is proportional to the change of the real part of the coherent state parameter, i.e., quantum work can be estimated by the coherent state parameter. The resulting work-probability distribution includes the initial quantum coherence, and can be reduced to the result of the traditional two projective energy measurement scheme(TPM) by squeezing the state of the harmonic oscillator. Our measurement scheme reveals the fundamental connections between measurement error and coherent work. By introducing a ‘coherent work-to-noise ratio', we find the optimal measurement error, which is determined by the energy difference between the superposed energy levels. As an application, we consider a driven two-level system and investigate the effects of driving velocity on work statistics. We find that only when the driving velocity matches the transition frequency of the system can initial quantum coherence play an important role.  相似文献

Within the framework of the Lindblad theory for open quantum systems, we determine the degree of quantum decoherence of a harmonic oscillator interacting with a thermal bath. It is found that the system manifests a quantum decoherence which is more and more significant in time. We also calculate the decoherence time scale and analyze the transition from quantum to classical behavior of the considered system. The text was submitted by the author in English.  相似文献

We deal with a system comprising a nonlinear (Kerr-like) oscillator excited by a series of ultra-short external pulses. We introduce the fidelity-based entropic parameter that can be used as an indicator of quantum chaos. Moreover, we propose to use the fidelity-like parameter comprising the information about the mean number of photons in the system. We shall concentrate on the long-time behaviour of the parameters discussed, showing that for deep chaos cases the quantum fidelities behave chaotically in the classical sense despite their strictly quantum character.  相似文献

We present an alternative to 't Hooft's mechanism relating a deterministic system to a 1D quantum oscillator. We argue that it is possible to map 't Hooft's ontological space onto an irreducible representation of a 2D isotropic oscillator. A direct group contraction procedure can then be applied to achieve the correspondence.  相似文献

Balanced homodyne detection has been introduced as a reliable technique of reconstructing the quantum state of a single photon Fock state, which is based on coupling the single photon state and a strong coherent local oscillator in a beam splitter and detecting the field quadrature at the output ports separately. The main challenge associated with a tomographic characterization of the single photon state is mode matching between the single photon state and the local oscillator. Utilizing the heralded single photon generated by the spontaneous parametric process, the multi-mode theoretical model of quantum interference between the single photon state and the coherent state in the fiber beam splitter is established. Moreover, the analytical expressions of the temporal-mode matching coefficient and interference visibility and relationship between the two parameters are shown. In the experimental scheme, the interference visibility under various temporalmode matching coefficients is demonstrated, which is almost accordant with the theoretical value. Our work explores the principle of temporal-mode matching between the single photon state and the coherent photon state, originated from a local oscillator, and could provide guidance for designing the high-performance balanced homodyne detection system.  相似文献
