We consider the one-point functions of bulk and boundary fields in the scaling Lee–Yang model for various combinations of bulk and boundary perturbations. The one-point functions of the bulk fields are analysed using the truncated conformal space approach and the form-factor expansion. Good agreement is found between the results of the two methods, though we find that the expression for the general boundary state given by Ghoshal and Zamolodchikov has to be corrected slightly. For the boundary fields we use thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations to find exact expressions for the strip and semi-infinite cylinder geometries. We also find a novel off-critical identity between the cylinder partition functions of models with differing boundary conditions, and use this to investigate the regions of boundary-induced instability exhibited by the model on a finite strip.  相似文献

The off-shell dynamics of the O(3) non-linear sigma model is probed in terms of spectral densities and two-point functions by means of the form factor approach. The exact form factors of the spin field, Noether current, EM tensor and the topological charge density are computed up to six particles. The corresponding n 6 particle spectral densities are used to compute the two-point functions, and are argued to deviate at most a few per mille from the exact answer in the entire energy range below 103 in units of the mass gap. To cover yet higher energies we propose an extrapolation scheme to arbitrary particle numbers based on a novel scaling hypothesis for the spectral densities. It yields candidate results for the exact two-point functions at all energy scales and allows us to exactly determine the values of two, previously unknown, non-perturbative constants.  相似文献

We study the ultraviolet asymptotics in An affine Toda theories with integrable boundary actions. The reflection amplitudes of non-affine Toda theories in the presence of conformal boundary actions have been obtained from the quantum mechanical reflections of the wave functional in the Weyl chamber and used for the quantization conditions and ground-state energies. We compare these results with the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz derived from both the bulk and (conjectured) boundary scattering amplitudes. The two independent approaches match very well and provide the non-perturbative checks of the boundary scattering amplitudes for Neumann and (+) boundary conditions.  相似文献

For all affine Toda field theories we propose a new type of generic boundary bootstrap equations, which can be viewed as a very specific combination of elementary boundary bootstrap equations. These equations allow to construct general solutions for the boundary reflection amplitudes, which are valid for theories related to all simple Lie algebras, that is simply laced and non-simply laced. We provide a detailed study of these solutions for concrete Lie algebras in various representations. The boundary bootstrap equations relating different types of exited boundary states are not automatically solved by our expressions.  相似文献

We study the space of scaling fields in the Z N symmetric models with factorized scattering and propose the simplest algebraic relations between the form factors induced by the action of deformed parafermionic currents. The construction gives a new free field representation for form factors of perturbed Virasoro algebra primary fields, which are parafermionic algebra descendants. We find exact vacuum expectation values of physically important fields and study the correlation functions of order and disorder fields in the form factor and conformal field theories perturbation approaches. This note addresses the problem of localization in quantum field theory; more specifically we contribute to the ongoing discussion about the most appropriate concept of localization which one should use in relativistic quantum field theory: through localized test functions or through the fields directly without localized test functions. In standard quantum field theory, i.e., in relativistic quantum field theory in terms of tempered distributions according to Gårding and Wightman, this is done through localized test functions. In hyperfunction quantum field theory (HFQFT), i.e., relativistic quantum field theory in terms of Fourier hyperfunctions this is done through the fields themselves. In support of the second approach we show here that it has a much wider range of applicability. It can even be applied to relativistic quantum field theories which do not admit compactly supported test functions at all. In our construction of explicit models we rely on basic results from the theory of quasi-analytic functions.  相似文献

In this paper we compute the scaling functions of the effective central charges for various quantum integrable models in a deep ultraviolet region R → 0 using two independent methods. One is based on the “reflection amplitudes” of the (super-)Liouville field theory where the scaling functions are given by the conjugate momentum to the zero-modes. The conjugate momentum is quantized for the sinh-Gordon, the Bullough-Dodd, and the super sinh-Gordon models where the quantization conditions depend on the size R of the system and the reflection amplitudes. The other method is to solve the standard thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations for the integrable models in a perturbative series of 1/(const. - In R). The constant factor which is not fixed in the lowest order computations can be identified only when we compare the higher order corrections with the quantization conditions. Numerical TBA analysis shows a perfect match for the scaling functions obtained by the first method. Our results show that these two methods are complementary to each other. While the reflection amplitudes are confirmed by the numerical TBA analysis, the analytic structures of the TBA equations become clear only when the reflection amplitudes are introduced.  相似文献

Explicit exact solution of supersymmetric Toda fields associated with the Lie superalgebra sl(2|1) is constructed. The approach used is a super extension of Leznov-Saveliev algebraic analysis, which is based on a pair of chiral and antichiral Drienfeld-Sokolov systems. Though such approach is well understood for Toda field theories associated with ordinary Lie algebras, its super analogue was only successful in the super Liouville case with the underlying Lie superalgebra osp(1|2). The problem lies in that a key step in the construction makes use of the tensor product decomposition of the highest weight representations of the underlying Lie superalgebra, which is not clear until recently. So our construction made in this paper presents a first explicit example of Leznov-Saveliev analysis for super Toda systems associated with underlying Lie superalgebras of the rank higher than 1.  相似文献

We present a method to compute the genus expansion of the free energy of Hermitian matrix models from the large N expansion of the recurrence coefficients of the associated family of orthogonal polynomials. The method is based on the Bleher–Its deformation of the model, on its associated integral representation of the free energy, and on a method for solving the string equation which uses the resolvent of the Lax operator of the underlying Toda hierarchy. As a byproduct we obtain an efficient algorithm to compute generating functions for the enumeration of labeled k-maps which does not require the explicit expressions of the coefficients of the topological expansion. Finally we discuss the regularization of singular one-cut models within this approach.  相似文献

Exact microscopic spectral correlation functions are derived by means of the replica limit of the Toda lattice equation. We consider both Hermitian and non-Hermitian theories in the Wigner–Dyson universality class (class A) and in the chiral universality class (class AIII). In the Hermitian case we rederive two-point correlation functions for class A and class AIII as well as several one-point correlation functions in class AIII. In the non-Hermitian case the average spectral density of non-Hermitian complex random matrices in the weak non-Hermiticity limit is obtained directly from the replica limit of the Toda lattice equation. In the case of class A, this result describes the spectral density of a disordered system in a constant imaginary vector potential (the Hatano–Nelson model) which is known from earlier work. New results are obtained for the average spectral density in the weak non-Hermiticity limit of a quenched chiral random matrix model at non-zero chemical potential. These results apply to the ergodic or ϵ domain of the quenched QCD partition function at non-zero chemical potential. Our results have been checked against numerical results obtained from a large ensemble of random matrices. The spectral density obtained is different from the result derived by Akemann for a closely related model, which is given by the leading order asymptotic expansion of our result. In all cases, the replica limit of the Toda lattice equation explains the factorization of spectral one- and two-point functions into a product of a bosonic (non-compact integral) and a fermionic (compact integral) partition function. We conclude that the fermionic partition functions, the bosonic partition functions and the supersymmetric partition function are all part of a single integrable hierarchy. This is the reason that it is possible to obtain the supersymmetric partition function, and its derivatives, from the replica limit of the Toda lattice equation.  相似文献

A general model independent approach using the ‘off-shell Bethe Ansatz’ is presented to obtain an integral representation of generalized form factors. The general techniques are applied to the quantum sine-Gordon model alias the massive Thirring model. Exact expressions of all matrix elements are obtained for several local operators. In particular soliton form factors of charge-less operators as for example all higher currents are investigated. It turns out that the various local operators correspond to specific scalar functions called p-functions. The identification of the local operators is performed. In particular the exact results are checked with Feynman graph expansion and full agreement is found. Furthermore all eigenvalues of the infinitely many conserved charges are calculated and the results agree with what is expected from the classical case. Within the frame work of integrable quantum field theories a general model independent ‘crossing’ formula is derived. Furthermore the ‘bound state intertwiners’ are introduced and the bound state form factors are investigated. The general results are again applied to the sine-Gordon model. The integrations are performed and in particular for the lowest breathers a simple formula for generalized form factors is obtained.  相似文献

In a previous paper we developed a mode-coupling theory to describe the long time properties of diffusion in stationary, statistically homogeneous, random media. Here the general theory is applied to deterministic and stochastic Lorentz models and several hopping models. The mode-coupling theory predicts that the amplitudes of the long time tails for these systems are determined by spatial fluctuations in a coarse-grained diffusion coefficient and a coarse-grained free volume. For one-dimensional models these amplitudes can be evaluated, and the mode-coupling theory is shown to agree with exact solutions obtained for these models. For higher-dimensional Lorentz models the formal theory yields expressions which are difficult to evaluate. For these models we develop an approximation scheme based upon projecting fluctuations in the diffusion coefficient and free volume onto fluctuations in the density of scatterers.Work supported by grant No. CHE 77-16308 from the National Science Foundation and by a Nato Travel Grant.  相似文献

We extend a recent work by Mussardo and Penati on integrable quantum field theories with a single stable particle and an infinite number of unstable resonance states, including the presence of a boundary. The corresponding scattering and reflection amplitudes are expressed in terms of Jacobian elliptic functions, and generalize the ones of the massive thermal Ising model and of the sinh-Gordon model. In the case of the generalized Ising model we explicitly study the ground state energy and the one-point function of the thermal operator in the short-distance limit, finding an oscillating behaviour related to the fact that the infinite series of boundary resonances does not decouple from the theory even at very short-distance scales. The analysis of the generalized sinh-Gordon model with boundary reveals an interesting constraint on the analytic structure of the reflection amplitude. The roaming limit procedure which leads to the Ising model, in fact, can be consistently performed only if we admit that the nature of the bulk spectrum uniquely fixes the one of resonance states on the boundary.  相似文献

We use the conformal Ward identities to study the structure of correlation functions in coset conformal field theories. For a large class of primary fields of arbitrary g/h theory, a factorization anzatz is found. Corresponding correlation functions are explicitly expressed in terms of correlation functions of two independent WZNW theories for g and h.  相似文献

A free field representation for the left-right asymmetric conformal Toda theory based on simplf-laced even-rank Lie algebras is given. It is shown that the classical chiral exchange algebra for such theories can be reconstructed from free chiral bosons via Drinfeld-Sokolov linear systems, and is a bit more complicated than that of the standard Toda due to some additional δ-function terms and extra degrees of freedom.  相似文献

In this paper we apply the assumption of our recent work in noncommutative scalar models to the noncommutative U(1) gauge theories. This assumption is that the noncommutative effects start to be visible continuously from a scale λNC and that below this scale the theory is a commutative one. Based on thisassumption and using background field method and loop calculations, an effective action is derived for noncommutative U(1) gauge theory. It will be shown that the corresponding low energy effective theory is asymptotically free and that under this condition the noncommutative quadratic IR divergences will not appear. The effective theory contains higher dimensional terms, which become more important at high energies. These terms predict an elastic photon-photon scattering due to the noncommutativity of space. Thecoefficients of these higher dimensional terms also satisfy a positivity constraint indicating that in this theory the related diseases of superluminal signal propagating and bad analytic properties of S-matrix do not exist. In the last section, we will apply our method to the noncommutative extra dimension theories.  相似文献

We prove that one-point functions of all scaling fields in minimal left-right diagonal models of conformal field theory are modular covariant. This consistency condition should allow one to extend these minimal models to Riemann surfaces of arbitrary genus.Supported in part by NSF grant DMS 8610730  相似文献

We introduce and analyze different defect free energies in lattice gauge theories with matter fields. We investigate in which way the behaviour of these defect free energies characterizes different phase (and different regimes not separated by bulk phase boundaries) of such theories. Our main analytical results concern the 2 model, but some of our concepts and method extend to a fairly general class of models, including non-abelian lattice gauge theories. We also estimate masses of topological solitons (vortices and magnetic monopoles) in terms of defect free energies of line defects.  相似文献
