We investigate the decomposition of noncommutative gauge potential Âi, and find that it has inner structure, namely, Âi can be decomposed in two parts, hat{b}i and âi, where hat{b}i satisfies gauge transformations while âi satisfies adjoint transformations, so dose the Seiberg-Witten mapping of noncommutative U(1) gauge potential. By means of Seiberg-Witten mapping, we construct a mapping of unit vector field between noncommutative space and ordinary space, and find the noncommutative U(1) gauge potential and its gauge field tensor can be expressed in terms of the unit vector field. When the unit vector field has no singularity point, noncommutative gauge potential and gauge field tensor will equal ordinary gauge potential and gauge field tensor  相似文献

This study of U(1) gauge field theory on the kappa-deformed Minkowski space-time extends previous work on gauge field theories on this type of noncommutative space-time.We construct the conserved gauge current, fix part of the ambiguities in the Seiberg-Witten map and obtain an effective U(1) action invariant under the action of the undeformed Poincare group. We consider a formalism by which gauge theories can be constructed on noncommutative space time structures. The coordinates are supposed to form an algebra, restricted by certain requirements that allow us to realise the algebra in terms of star products. In this formulation it is useful to define derivatives and to extend the algebra of coordinates by these derivatives. The elements of this extended algebra are deformed differential operators. We then show that there is a morphism between these deformed differential operators and the usual higher order differential operators acting on functions of commuting coordinates. In this way we obtain deformed gauge transformations and a deformed version of the algebra of diffeomorphisms. The deformation of these algebras can be clearly seen in the category of Hopf algebras. The comultiplication will be twisted. These twisted algebras can be realised on noncommutative spaces and allow the construction of deformed gauge theories and deformed gravity theory. Dedicated to the 60th birthday of Prof. Obregon.  相似文献

We present a nonperturbative lattice formulation of noncommutative Yang–Mills theories in arbitrary even dimension. We show that lattice regularization of a noncommutative field theory requires finite lattice volume which automatically provides both an ultraviolet and an infrared cutoff. We demonstrate explicitly Morita equivalence of commutative U(p) gauge theory with p·nf flavours of fundamental matter fields on a lattice of size L with twisted boundary conditions and noncommutative U(1) gauge theory with nf species of matter on a lattice of size p·L with single-valued fields. We discuss the relation with twisted large N reduced models and construct observables in noncommutative gauge theory with matter.  相似文献

We construct noncommutative Donaldson-Thomas invariants associated with abelian orbifold singularities by analyzing the instanton contributions to a six-dimensional topological gauge theory. The noncommutative deformation of this gauge theory localizes on noncommutative instantons which can be classified in terms of three-dimensional Young diagrams with a colouring of boxes according to the orbifold group. We construct a moduli space for these gauge field configurations which allows us to compute its virtual numbers via the counting of representations of a quiver with relations. The quiver encodes the instanton dynamics of the noncommutative gauge theory, and is associated to the geometry of the singularity via the generalized McKay correspondence. The index of BPS states which compute the noncommutative Donaldson-Thomas invariants is realized via topological quantum mechanics based on the quiver data. We illustrate these constructions with several explicit examples, involving also higher rank Coulomb branch invariants and geometries with compact divisors, and connect our approach with other ones in the literature.  相似文献

This paper uses the background field method to calculate one-loop divergent corrections to the gauge field propagators in noncommutative U(1) gauge theory with scalar fields. It shows that for a massless scalar field, the gauge field propagators are renormalizable to θ2-order, but for a massive scalar field they are renormalizable only to θ-order.  相似文献

We consider noncommutative gauge theory defined by means of Seiberg–Witten maps for an arbitrary semisimple gauge group. We compute the one-loop UV divergent matter contributions to the gauge field effective action to all orders in the noncommutative parameters θ. We do this for Dirac fermions and complex scalars carrying arbitrary representations of the gauge group. We use path-integral methods in the framework of dimensional regularisation and consider arbitrary invertible Seiberg–Witten maps that are linear in the matter fields. Surprisingly, it turns out that the UV divergent parts of the matter contributions are proportional to the noncommutative Yang–Mills action where traces are taken over the representation of the matter fields; this result supports the need to include such traces in the classical action of the gauge sector of the noncommutative theory.  相似文献

We study the action of the SL(2; R) group on the noncommutative DBI Lagrangian. The symmetry conditions of this theory under the above group will be obtained. These conditions determine the extra U(1) gauge field. By introducing some consistent relations we observe that the noncommutative (or ordinary) DBI Lagrangian and its SL(2; R) dual theory are dual of each other. Therefore, we find some SL(2; R) invariant equations. In this case the noncommutativity parameter, its T -dual and its SL(2; R) dual versions are expressed in terms of each other. Furthermore, we show that on the effective variables, T -duality and SL(2; R) duality do not commute. We also study the effects of the SL(2; R) group on the noncommutative Chern–Simons action.  相似文献

In this paper we study the invariance of the noncommutative gauge theories under C, P, and T transformations. For the noncommutative space (when only the spatial part of straight theta is nonzero) we show that noncommutative QED (NCQED) is parity invariant. In addition, we show that under charge conjugation the theory on noncommutative R(4)(straight theta) is transformed to the theory on R(4)(-straight theta), so NCQED is a CP violating theory. The theory remains invariant under time reversal if, together with proper changes in fields, we also change straight theta by -straight theta. Hence altogether NCQED is CPT invariant. Moreover, we show that the CPT invariance holds for general noncommutative space-time.  相似文献

We describe how and to what extent the noncommutative two-torus can be approximated by a tower of finite-dimensional matrix geometries. The approximation is carried out for both irrational and rational deformation parameters by embedding the C *-algebra of the noncommutative torus into an approximately finite algebra. The construction is a rigorous derivation of the recent discretizations of noncommutative gauge theories using finite dimensional matrix models, and it shows precisely how the continuum limits of these models must be taken. We clarify various aspects of Morita equivalence using this formalism and describe some applications to noncommutative Yang–Mills theory. We study the U(1) and U(2) instanton solutions of gauge theory on general noncommutative R4. In allcases considered we obtain explicit results for the projection operators. In some cases we computed numerically theinstanton charge and found that it is an integer independent of the noncommutative parameters θ1,2.  相似文献

We consider an external gauge potential minimally coupled to a renormalisable scalar theory on 4-dimensional Moyal space and compute in position space the one-loop Yang–Mills-type effective theory generated from the integration over the scalar field. We find that the gauge-invariant effective action involves, beyond the expected noncommutative version of the pure Yang–Mills action, additional terms that may be interpreted as the gauge theory counterpart of the harmonic oscillator term, which for the noncommutative ϕ4-theory on Moyal space ensures renormalisability. The expression of a possible candidate for a renormalisable action for a gauge theory defined on Moyal space is conjectured and discussed.  相似文献

We elaborate on the dynamics of noncommutative two-dimensional gauge field theories. We consider U(N) gauge theories with fermions in either the fundamental or the adjoint representation. Noncommutativity leads to a rather non-trivial dependence on theta (the noncommutativity parameter) and to a rich dynamics. In particular the mass spectrum of the noncommutative U(1) theory with adjoint matter is similar to that of ordinary (commutative) two-dimensional large-NSU(N) gauge theory with adjoint matter. The noncommutative version of the ?t Hooft model receives a non-trivial contribution to the vacuum polarization starting from three-loops order. As a result the mass spectrum of the noncommutative theory is expected to be different from that of the commutative theory.  相似文献

We construct a new gauge theory on a pair of d-dimensional noncommutative tori. The latter comes from an intimate relationship between the noncommutative geometry associated with a lattice vertex operator algebra ? and the noncommutative torus. We show that the tachyon algebra of ? is naturally isomorphic to a class of twisted modules representing quantum deformations of the algebra of functions on the torus. We construct the corresponding real spectral triples and determine their Morita equivalence classes using string duality arguments. These constructions yield simple proofs of the O(d,d;ℤ) Morita equivalences between d-dimensional noncommutative tori and give a natural physical interpretation of them in terms of the target space duality group of toroidally compactified string theory. We classify the automorphisms of the twisted modules and construct the most general gauge theory which is invariant under the automorphism group. We compute bosonic and fermionic actions associated with these gauge theories and show that they are explicitly duality-symmetric. The duality-invariant gauge theory is manifestly covariant but contains highly non-local interactions. We show that it also admits a new sort of particle-antiparticle duality which enables the construction of instanton field configurations in any dimension. The duality non-symmetric on-shell projection of the field theory is shown to coincide with the standard non-abelian Yang–Mills gauge theory minimally coupled to massive Dirac fermion fields. It is shown that chiral anomalies can be removed in abelian gauge theories. After a discussion of the two dimensional case where exact solutions are available we study the four dimensional theory. We use perturbation theory, i. e. analyse the triangle Feynman integrals, and determine the general subtraction structure of the gauge current. Then we show that gauges exist for which current conservation holds and the theory is gauge invariant. As far as the generating functional is concerned the anomaly is employed first as gauge fixing condition. After rewriting the interaction in a gauge invariant form the gauge fixing condition can be imposed as usual. In our approach the integration over the gauge group remains trivial.  相似文献
