According to the angular-spectrum method, a radiation beam of an antenna horn in the Fresnal region is decomposed into the plane waves with the fast Fourier transform algorithm and the waves diffracted from a reflection grating are superposed as a diffracted beam. Compared with the reflected beam from the same size mirror, the radiation half width of the diffracted beam from a grating is narrower and its lateral shape is shift. These performances have been experimentally verified at Ka-band by: (1). The relative diffraction efficiencies in the first order with two triangular gratings which is put along propagating direction of a beam produced by a conical lens-horn. (2). H-plane lateral width with power—3dB lapsed of the focus beam from a grating and a mirror in a grating spectrometer for millimeter waves (25–100 GHz).  相似文献

With the aid of a three-dimensional particle-in-cell code simulation,the enhancement of Smith-Purcell radiation with a surface-plasmon mode excited by a single electron bunch and by a premodulated electron beam is considered in the paper.In the simulation,the model is a grating covered by Ag film.The results demonstrate that when the surface-plasmon mode is excited by a single electron bunch,the maximum radiation occurs at an observation angle depending on the surface-plasmon frequency,and the radiation power can be enhanced more than ten times.And for pre-bunched electron beam excitation,when one of the harmonics of the bunching frequency is resonant with that of the surface-plasmon mode,the radiation power is twenty times more than that from a perfectly conducting grating excited by the same premodulated electron beam.  相似文献

We report a quantitative measurement of the full transverse coherence function of the 14.4 keV x-ray radiation produced by an undulator at the Swiss Light Source. An x-ray grating interferometer consisting of a beam splitter phase grating and an analyzer amplitude grating has been used to measure the degree of coherence as a function of the beam separation out to 30 microm. Importantly, the technique provides a model-free and spatially resolved measurement of the complex coherence function and is not restricted to high resolution detectors and small fields of view. The spatial characterization of the wave front has important applications in discovering localized defects in beam line optics.  相似文献

 本文介绍一种新型毫米波准光学可调辐射源,它采用由面对称三反射镜准光学谐振腔和绕射光栅组成高频互作用系统,利用中等能量级的相对论带状电子注激励,产生频率可调的宽带毫米波、远红外波段的辐射。这种新方案的机理性实验在电子科技大学首次获得成功,其主要实验参数:电子注的能量为400~500kV,电压脉冲宽度70ns,同步脉冲磁场强度1.2T; 磁场脉冲宽度10ms,带状电子注尺寸10nm×1mm;通过热测实验,我们成功地检测到3mm波段的高频信号,其峰值功率达到数十千瓦量级。  相似文献

Near-infrared radiation around 1000 nm generated from the interaction of a high-density MeV electron beam, obtained by impinging an intense ultrashort laser pulse on a solid target, with a metal grating is observed experimentally. Theoretical modeling and particle-in-cell simulation suggest that the radiation is caused by the Smith-Purcell mechanism. The results here indicate that tunable terahertz radiation with tens GV/m field strength can be achieved by using appropriate grating parameters.  相似文献

Observation of frequency-locked coherent terahertz Smith-Purcell radiation   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We report the observation of enhanced coherent Smith-Purcell radiation (SPR) at terahertz (THz) frequencies from a train of picosecond bunches of 15 MeV electrons passing above a grating. SPR is more intense than other sources, such as transition radiation, by a factor of Ng, the number of grating periods. For electron bunches that are short compared with the radiation wavelength, coherent emission occurs, enhanced by a factor of Ne, the number of electrons in the bunch. The electron beam consists of a train of Nb bunches, giving an energy density spectrum restricted to harmonics of the 17 GHz bunch train frequency, with an increased energy density at these frequencies by a factor of Nb. We report the first observation of SPR displaying all three of these enhancements, NgNeNb. This powerful SPR THz radiation can be detected with a high signal to noise ratio by a heterodyne receiver.  相似文献

A novel Smith-Purcell FEL with a relativistic electron beam of middle energy and a quasi-optical resonator composed of diffraction grating and three mirror reflector is described in this paper. Coherent radiation with peak power of tens of KW at 3 mm waveband is successfully detected from an experimental facility characterized by beam energy of 400-500 KeV, pulse length of 70 ns, pulse beam current of 0.2 KA, and pulse guide magnetic field of up to 1.2 T.  相似文献

In previous papers we have shown how beams of millimeter-wavelength electromagnetic radiation with phase singularities can be generated by diffraction from a specially-configured forked blazed grating. Here we consider how the hollow conical beam output of a gyrotron is diffracted by this kind of grating. Two applications are considered; using the grating (a) as a single-element quasioptical antenna to convert the output into a well-collimated gaussian-like beam and (b) as a device to enable the estimation of the fractions in oppositely-rotating modes in the gyrotron output.  相似文献

The planar orotron is introduced and shown to be a viable source of moderate power and of millimeter and submillimeter wavelength radiation. The resonator is a slow-wave structure consisting of a rectangular metal grating which is opposed by a planar conducting boundary. The device operates in the surface harmonic mode: electrons interact with axially traveling waves which evanesce above the grating surface, and the amplified radiation leaves the resonator in parallel with the beam axis. Operation in both the forward and backward mode is possible. The resonator cavity is designed to enhance longitudinal reflections, and thereby enhance the output power and efficiency. The output frequency and tuning range are determined by the grating parameters. Experiments performed in the backward mode have produced radiation from 30 to 110 GHz at power levels ranging from 100 W to 2 kW. The efficiencies vary from 1 to 7%. The measured frequencies are closely predicted by a theory which is also presented  相似文献

The design of systems for the splitting of the radiation from a free-electron-laser (FEL) in the extreme-ultraviolet spectral region is presented. Systems for the beam-splitting of the FEL radiation are important, both for having the light available simultaneously to several experiments, and for the division and recombination of the beam (pump-probe techniques). We present systems with a grazing-incidence plane grating, which is illuminated by the single FEL beam and gives several output beams (the zero order and the diffracted orders). The grating gives intrinsically a time stretching of the diffracted beam, so time-compensated configurations are used. Systems for the splitting of the primary beam in two secondary beams and for the splitting and recombining from two beams with variable delay are presented. 提出并研究了一种带状电子注矩形单栅返波振荡器。首先研究了矩形单栅慢波结构的色散特性和耦合阻抗特性,然后粒子模拟并优化设计了带状注矩形单栅高频结构,预群聚腔及输出一体化结构。研究结果表明:利用电压200kV、电压2kA、截面为24mm×0.5mm的带状电子注,驱动该矩形单栅返波振荡器,能够产生42 MW的输出功率,工作频率86GHz,效率为10.5%。  相似文献

We propose a monolithic narrowband guided-mode grating filter in fused silica that is widely tunable in the near-IR wavelength region. Based on a recently demonstrated approach for a monolithic reflector comprising an encapsulated grating, we theoretically investigate such a device by means of rigorous modeling aimed at a narrow linewidth. It is demonstrated that upon a spatial variation of the filter's grating period its resonance wavelength can be tuned in a remarkably wide range of near-IR radiation with 800 nm<λ(res)< 1600 nm by translating the laser beam relative to the grating area. The filter performance in terms of linewidth and contrast is essentially preserved over the entire tuning interval.  相似文献

A novel Smith-Purcell(S-P) free electron laser composed of an electron gun,a semi-elliptical resonator,a metallic reflecting grating and a collector,is presented for the first time.This paper studies the characteristics of this device by theoretical analysis and particle-in-cell simulation method.Results indicate that tunable coherent S-P radiation with a high output peak power at millimeter wavelengths can be generated by adjusting the length of the grating period,or adjusting the voltage of the electron beam.The present scheme has the following advantages:the semi-elliptical resonator can reflect all radiation with the emission angle θ and random azimuthal angles,back onto the electron beam with same-phase and causes the electrons to be modulated,so the output power and efficiency are improved.  相似文献

Based on the femtosecond accelerator device, we are planning to build a broad band and tunable THz source using the Smith-Purcell radiation mechanism. Coherent Smith-Purcell radiation could be achieved owing to the super-short bunch produced in the device. To shorten the distance between the beam and grating, we use Transport to match the beta function producing a sheet beam on the grating surface. The optimization of grating length, groove depth and groove width are given in the paper. Then the radiation power for the shallow and deep grating using these parameters are presented. 体光栅光谱组束是获得高功率激光输出的一种有效途径.在有限的可用带宽内,光谱通道间隔影响着组束光束数目以及最终的高功率组束输出.采用耦合波理论,建立了一个两通道高功率光谱组束模型.通过优化体光栅光谱通道间隔,可放宽对组束子束线宽和功率的限制,组束功率可大幅提升而光谱密度并无显著下降.基于此,实验上获得了2.5 kW组束输出,绝对效率超过85%,通道间隔5 nm,光谱密度为0.51kW/nm.组束功率1 kW时,组束输出能保持好的光束质量;组束功率1.5kW时光束质量恶化较明显,通过分析发现,组束光束质量的恶化主要受限于体光栅的色散及高功率下体光栅复杂的热畸变.  相似文献

本文根据锑化铟(InSb)材料在THz波段下复介电常数对温度的响应特性,采用了带有光栅的锑化铟-介质-锑化铟的表面等离子体波导结构,实现了1THz频率光束的准直出射,并能够通过调整结构两侧光栅的温度差来控制出射光束的角度.由时域有限差分方法得到光束偏转角度与温度差之间的关系.理论上利用表面等离子体波导模式的光栅耦合机理解释光束方向改变的原因. 关键词: 表面等离子体 太赫兹 时域有限差分方法 光束方向控制  相似文献

Optical design of a plane grating monochromator beam line for X-ray spectroscopic studies to be installed on INDUS-1 is studied using ray tracing technique. The main components of the beam line are pre- and post-elliptical mirrors and the plane mirror-grating dispersing system. The ideal positions of the optical components are decided by using our analytical formulation of the Riemer’s kinetic principle for reflecting synchrotron radiation onto the same spot of the dispersing grating. The program is developed indigenously and can be used on a PC. The tangent error and microroughness of the mirrors is explicitly accounted for in the program. The wavelength dependent absorption of radiation at the different reflecting surfaces is also included for calculations of the optical throughput. The dependence of the final image line shape and resolution on various beam line parameters is calculated. The results are useful in deciding the tolerances of the various beam line components and their positions.  相似文献

In recent years, people are dedicated to the research work of finding compact THz sources with high emission power. Smith-Purcell radiation is qualified for the possibility of coherent enhancement due to the effect of FEL mechanism. The compact experiment device is expected to produce hundreds mW level THz ray. The electron beam with good quality is provided under the optimized design of the electron gun. Besides, the grating is designed as an oscillator without any external feedbacks. While the beam passes through the grating surface, the beam bunching will be strong and the second harmonics enhancement will be evident, as is seen from the simulation results.  相似文献

A novel method for real-time polarization measurement is presented. The method is based on a space-variant wave plate that we realized as a computer-generated space-variant subwavelength dielectric grating. The Stokes parameters of the incident beam are determined by Fourier analysis of the space-variant intensity transmitted through the grating and an analyzer. We discuss the design and realization of such wave plates and demonstrate our technique with polarization measurements of both polarized and partially polarized CO(2)-laser radiation at a wavelength of 10.6 mum.  相似文献
