A modified theory of a boundary layer associated with a periodic capillary-gravitational motion on the free surface of an infinitely deep viscous liquid is proposed. The flow in the boundary layer is described in terms of a simplified (compared with the complete statement) model problem a solution to which correctly reflects the main features of an exact asymptotic solution: the rapid decay of the flow eddy part with depth of the liquid and insignificance of some terms appearing in the complete statement. The boundary layer thickness at which the discrepancy between the exact asymptotic solution and model solution is within a given margin is estimated. 相似文献

This paper is concerned with the stability and asymptotic stability at large time of solutions to a system of equations, which includes the Lifschitz–Slyozov–Wagner (LSW) system in the case when the initial data has compact support. The main result of the paper is a proof of weak global asymptotic stability for LSW like systems. Previously strong local asymptotic stability results were obtained by Niethammer and Velázquez for the LSW system with initial data of compact support. Comparison to a quadratic model plays an important part in the proof of the main theorem when the initial data is critical. The quadratic model extends the linear model of Carr and Penrose, and has a time invariant solution which decays exponentially at the edge of its support in the same way as the infinitely differentiable self-similar solution of the LSW model. 相似文献

The El Nifio-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is an interannual phenomenon involved in the tropical Pacific Oceanatmosphere interactions. In this paper, an asymptotic method of solving the nonlinear equation for the ENSO model is used. And based on a class of oscillator of ENSO model, the approximate solution of a corresponding problem is studied by employing the perturbation method. Firstly, an ENSO model of nonlinear time delay equation of equatorial Pacific is introduced, Secondly, by using the perturbed method, the zeroth and first order asymptotic perturbed solutions are constructed. Finally, from the comparison of the values for a figure, it is seen that the first asymptotic perturbed solution using the perturbation method has a good accuracy. And it is proved from the results that the perturbation method can be used as an analytic operation for the sea surface temperature anomaly in the equatorial Pacific of the atmosphere-ocean oscillation for the ENSO model. 相似文献
